Six
Juniper stood from the pool, wrapping a towel around her bikini clad form distractedly.
She was just about to walk through the sliding glass door into Seraphina's place when she saw Phoenix making out with her passionately.
Blanching quietly, she side stepped to hide out of sight.
Rolling her eyes to the heavens, she waited for the two to finish. When she was about to reveal herself she heard speaking.
"I've tried everything to get him to come see Juniper. He hasn't budged, even with his suspicions."
The demoness stiffened.
"We're running out of time, Nix! I can't let her leave," Seraphina sniffled. "If something happened to her I couldn't-"
She heard Phoenix comforting her quietly.
Waiting another moment, she knocked and walked through the door with a raised brow.
"Nice to see you Phoenix," Juniper spared them a small nod before going back up to her temporary room to change.
Sitting on the bed as she was clad in shorts and a bandeau top, flopping onto her back.
She was on her second day here and Juniper had already made up her mind. She booker a time slot at the portal hub last night, now she just had to get some supplies.
Twisting her lips in thought, she sat up to grab her bag and slip on some shoes.
"I'm going to the market," she called over her shoulder as she practically ran out of the house to avoid Seraphina joining her.
Ignoring the calls from the house she trotted away.
Juniper liked the markets on the island, they were open and everything was fresh. The shops with clothes and materials were always well stocked.
She grabbed nonperishables first in the food market, slipping them into her bag after paying. She also grabbed a brochure of travel spots, wondering where her next stop will be.
If she goes somewhere cold she may be able to hole up somewhere, witches stayed away from colder temperatures.
They also stayed away from demons for the most part, she thought to herself. She was frustrated that staying on the island wasn't working out for her.
Juniper also knew she was frustrated about a certain someone else.
Walking all around, she looked at a lot of things. But something caught her eye at a local shops post card section.
On one of the post cards, in red writing it had Saint Islands in cursive scripture. Underneath, the photo was black and white. Raphael was actually smiling a bit in it, in a tux it seemed at some fancy event. Phoenix was gripping his shoulders and laughing happily.
At the bottom in the same font it read, where demons can be safe and happy!
Slowly, with hesitant fingers she grabbed it. Even if she knew it was an advertisement for demons to come stay on the island she couldn't help but stare at the sight of her mate.
He looked amazing, Juniper admitted to herself.
Swallowing hard she paid for the post card, brushing her thumb over his face. Once she left Juniper couldn't be sure if she'd ever see him.
She might as well take a momento.
As she moved over to look at overcoats in another shop, someone recognized her.
"Going somewhere cold?"
She jumped up and saw the pale man from the dinner at Raphael's.
"I never got to introduce myself, I'm Felix," he held out his hand.
Juniper nodded once with narrowed eyes, turning back to what she was doing.
"Are you enjoying your stay?"
Juniper scoffed at the stupid question. Walking away from him as if he didn't exist, Felix rose a brow and pulled out his phone.
Juniper ignored the berkserker as other people practically parted way for him. She was previously determined to stomp her way back to Seraphina's when she passed a play pin for dogs up for adoption.
She halted in her step.
It... wouldn't hurt to just look right?
She turned on a 90 degree angle to go give those dogs the attention they deserved. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes, she assumed they were bred to be enchanted dogs.
The humans dogs and the supernaturals dogs were different. Because at birth they were charmed to be loyal to a single owner, training was easier and the dogs were, to say the least, deadlier.
So of course Juniper needed to spend time with them.
Felix, who had lost the demoness in the crowd was on the phone with Phoenix.
"She's at the market buying shit, seems like she's stocking up. But she hasn't left for the portals yet so we're in the clear for now," Felix husked while looking around.
Catching the sight of midnight blue hair, he told Phoenix to hold on.
He came a little closer and his eyes widened when he saw Juniper surrounded by dogs. She was giggling quietly, scratching and petting as many as she could reach.
Felix's shoulders slumped, she looked... pretty.
Shaking his head quickly, "I found her."
With Phoenix still on the phone he pulled up his camera, taking pictures of the oblivious woman and berating Raphael with them through text.
Juniper was staring at a two year old Rottweiler who has strewn himself along her lap. He has begun growling at the other dogs who were trying to get her attention and Juniper was eating it up.
"I could use company while I travel," Juniper thought to herself. When she was hiding out before the island, it had only just been her. This was the first time she'd seen Warren and Seraphina for a long time and now she was having to flee again.
Maybe getting a dog would benefit her. She peaked at his tag, seeing his name was Bear.
She smiled a little and stood up, whistling lowly and watching Bear follow her around.
"How much for him," she nodded towards the rottweiler besides her while looking at the attendee running the adoption.
She was a small nymph it seemed, quickly giving Juniper the information. To seal the bond between owner and pet there was an enchanted contract to be signed for each dog.
Handing the girl the correct about of money and signing the contract, Juniper grabbed a bag full of the proper dog supplies as well.
"That was impulsive," Juniper admitted to herself as Bear followed after her dutifully.
She looked down at his big dark eyes and didn't regret her decision at all.
"I can't keep a mate apparently, maybe you'll stick around hm?"
Felix, who had been trailing behind her for quite some time stumbled.
That was all the confirmation he needed.
"Juniper I have to ask you to come with me," the woman jumped at the sound.
"Have you been following me, you creep?" she sneered.
Felix wiped at his face, "Yes. But for good reason, so I need you to come with me please."
Bear growled lowly, prowling around his newly bonded owner with his eyes trained on the man.
"I don't need to do jack shit."
"I'll have to take you there myself if you don't come willingly, Juniper."
The blue haired woman rose a brow, unamused.
"I'd like to see you try," she hissed. Her new dog was about to lunge but with a quick glance around to see the onlookers she stopped.
unwanted attention.
She abruptly relaxed her tense figure, sensing this her dog halted.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath. It looked as if she was thinking something over.
"Okay. But I'm not going today, I have shit to do. Come to Seraphina's tomorrow at six, you can take me wherever then," she bargained.
Felix frowned but slowly agreed. "Okay," he stuck his hand out to shake on it.
She clasped their hands together with a small smirk.
"See you then," she rolled her eyes and turned around. He watched her carry her bags while patting the dog on the head.

Raphael lifted the barbell up as his phone buzzed beneath the bench.
He growled lowly, sitting up.
Grabbing it, he slid it open the look over the messages and his breath hitched.
From Felix, he had a dozen photos of Juniper sent to him.
He scrolled through them slowly, almost entranced as he saw pictures of her skimming through some clothes.
Her hair was pinned up out of her face effortlessly, but it still made him swallow hard as it framed her heart shaped face.
She was in a small t-shirt, a comically small t-shirt actually, he noticed with a frown.
Her jean shorts revealed her legs, even in the dry weather her brown skin glowed under the sun.
The next pictures she was grinning wide, surrounded by a number of dogs. Some pictures were blurry from her movement but one was zoomed in as she was laughing, scratching dutifully behind a dark dogs ears.
so the mystery girl can smile ;)
Raphael swallowed, ignoring Felix's text to look back at the pictures.
Underneath his shorts, his length twitched.
His head fell back as he closed his eyes tightly, "Fuck, fuck, fuck."
Raphael stood up abruptly, adjusting his shorts while striding to the showers.
When was the last time a woman made him feel like this? Turning the shower on at the lowest temperature he stepped under the stream.
Growling lowly, he palmed himself. For a moment, the thought of Juniper's hand on his cock rather than his own made his length pulse.
The frigid water of the shower didn't even affect him as it should, his erection only got worse as his mind spiraled more.
Wiping the water out of his eyes and back into his hair, he snarled. In a fit of rage, he slammed his fist into the tiled wall of the shower.
Watching the shattered pieces clatter to the ground he grunted and turned back to the water.
His phone rang on the counter and he stepped out of the shower stall, the shower did not do what he intended for it.
Gripping the phone, he answered the call while he toweled off. His mind drifting to the blue haired woman.
