"LANI! HURRY UP WE"RE GOING TO BE LATE"

What? Oh, OH SHIT.

I rush to get up, affectively flinging my outfit I chose last night across the room.

"COMING" I yell.

I curse as I step on a fake nail, I collect my outfit from the floor and put my hair in a bun before quickly changing. Looking in the mirror I quickly fix my hair and make sure my black baby tee and blue mid waist jeans look fine. Running down the stairs I grab my bag and shoes from next to the front door and head to the car. Before getting in the passenger's side I threw my bag and shoes in.

"Wow Lani you look terrible, did you even brush your hair?"

"Shut up, Hunter! you look like shit too" I sneered at my brother.

"Hey! Watch your mouth Lani." My mom says as she starts the car. I glare at her for a second before putting my boots on.

"Mom, remind me, why are you driving us today?" Hunter asks from the back seat.

"Because I have a meeting with your teacher before school starts and the only way to get Lani to school while she's suspended  from taking the bus is driving her." I ignore the stare mom gives me as she says suspended.

"Ohhh yeahh I forgot Lani is a total punk" I look back at him and glare.

"Seriously you're literally only 12 how are you such a bit-" I stop knowing if I finished that sentence I'd have to deal with my mom lecturing me. 

The rest of the drive to my school was silent.

Mom parks at the school and I open the door, I stand up, grabbing my bag. Before I get a chance to close it mom says "Make good decisions Lani, remember your makuakāne is coming back soon."

"Yes, mom, I know. You mention it like everyday. I know Dad will be home soon. " I say before walking away from the car. "Have a good day sweetie!" Mom yells as I speed up my walking. I check my phone, three notifications. Avery, Evelyn and Zaid. I click on Avery's message as I walk into the school.

I love my friends they're so stupid. I laugh to myself and head to the auditorium. Once I get there I look around for Avery and Evelyn. Holy fuck they were not kidding these bitches are HOT. I walk down to them and sit.

"Heyy!! There you are we've been waiting for youuu" Avery says.
"These hotties are Tamira,-" She points to each person as she says their name. I follow her finger. Tamira is a cutie, she's got her hair in a protective style, locs I believe. And she's wearing a mini jean skirt with a long sleeve dull blue shirt that has TV girl printed on it, I assume thats a singer or something.

"Alex,-"

Alex is hot, but I'm pretty sure Evelyn likes him considering her eyes haven't left him since I got here. He's tan and has brown dark hair that's shaggy and slightly covers his eyes. He's wearing

super oversized ripped jeans and a metallica tank top with arm holes that go down to around where his belly button is.

"Leo,-"

Okay this is definitely Avery's kinda guy. He's tall, mixed, and has gorgeous big lips. He's wearing a skintight black tank top and baggy gray sweatpants.

"Noah,-"

Noahs cute, I'm pretty sure he's Indian, he has black hair put back into a small ponytail, black sweatpants, a green tshirt and a black zip up jacket on. I'm also pretty sure he's dating Tamira considering she's currently sitting on his lap.

"And Brooke."

Holy fuck. Brooke is hot. She's slightly tan, has her brown hair in a ponytail and she's wearing a v cut dark magenta tank top with lace details on it, a short gray skirt and black tights with skulls.

Realizing I'm staring I look away from her and look at the others "Hey, I'm Leilani but literally no one but old people call me that so just call me Lani." I introduce myself.

"Hey Lani, you know, you're pretty cute." Brooke says and then smiles at me.

Oh my god she called me cute. Is this real? Like shes A tier hot and she thinks I'm cute. I'm probably blushing, shit, this is so embarrassing.

"Thanks!" I respond.

Before I know it everyone starts talking, this group seems fun but I can't get over how embarrassing I just acted like ughh I was probably blushing so bad. I notice Alex and Evelyn talking and suddenly Noah leans over and whispers something to Alex. It must've been embarrassing because he starts blushing and playfully punches Noah in the arm. I join in on the conversation and catch myself glancing at Brooke, like a lot.

"Hey Lani, do you want to get some coffee sometime? You seem hella cool." Brooke says.

Holy fuck.

"Oh! Uh, yeah! Definitely! Um, what's your number?" I respond. I can feel my face getting warm as I blush, making this whole thing 10 times worse.

"Lemme see your phone, I'll add my number to your contacts" She says.

"Okay" I take it out of my pocket and hold it out to her. She goes to take it and runs her fingertips across my fingers as she does. I watch as she adds her number into my contacts. She hands me the phone and I see that she put her contact name as Brooke with a heart after. That's so cute.

"Hey you guys should all come to my house this friday night, my parents are going to visit my grandma in Ohio or something so I have the house to myself for a few days. I'll make a groupchat so I can text everyone the deets!" Eve exclaims.

Everyone agrees and Eve says she'll text the details later since she has to get to her honors chemistry class.

"Okay guys me and Lani gotta head out, we have Algebra 4 and it's like on the third floor, but we'll def see you guys later! Bye!" Avery says while grabbing her bag and starting to walk away.

"Bye guys!" I say before picking up my bag and following Avery.
