Chapter 1
November 14 2017
It was a long time since Amy felt wanted, needed... special. But she was very willing to accept that as she entered her third year of high school. People in her life had come and gone. It was something she was used to.
And that is why today was s weird for her. She had gotten to school and done her normal thing. for three months she would go get coffee, a mocha, and go to help with the morning news. It was the only place she felt useful.
But on this particular morning, not everything went as plan.
Amy set her stuff done as she let out an exasperated sigh. She then went to her desk with her computer and set her coffee down when she heard a familiar high pitched male voice.
"Hey Ame, you wanna go to the cafeteria with me?" Ronnie, her co-host, and close acquaintance, had asked not even looking up from his phone. Amy was tired, but also very bored. She shrugged her shoulders before getting up.
'Why not?' She grabbed her coffee and straightened her slacks and shirt. Then she and Ronnie headed across the campus of their school, Westside High School. The walk was not that far, but far enough to where they could be late if they didn't hurry. When they got there Amy figured she could get a quick breakfast. Maybe a muffin or something.
When she got into line there were a few people already in line, so Amy pulled out her phone to look at news of her favorite show, "Happily Ever After." As she was looking at the news article, she heard two squeals from beside her looking at her.
At the same time both girls, a short brunette white girl with light brown eyes and a giant sweater, and a taller black girl wearing a fit dress and a huge backpack, simultaneously ,almost like a scream, said, "You like HEA?" Amy too taken back, was only able to nod once. The tall one, seeming a bit older than the other, spoke first. "Oh, I'm sorry, sweetie. Did we scare you? Sorry. We just get really excited about HEA. My names Alex. and This is Bethany, but you can call her Beth." The short one waved and said a small hi. Amy could barely hear her but once she registered what they said, she was went to introduced herself. But was cut short by a "NEXT!"
She moved forward in the line and grabbed a muffin and an apple. Then Amy turned around and smiled at them. "Amy. Amy B-"
"Amy Biel. I have you second period English with Ms. Kristin." Alex said smiling and grabbing something to eat as I was about to leave. The then the little one, Beth? I think, actually said something.
"See you around, Snow!" Her voice was high and really small, like a child's and held an innocent of ages Amy hadn't heard in a long time. Amy had no choice but to smile back and wave. But this smile, for the first time in weeks, wasn't a for the pictures or everyone's piece of minds. It was to say bye to her new friends.
