Part 4
Khushi was in her room folding the clothes when Arush barged in running and raised his arms for her to pick him up with an adorable smile on his face.
Smiling affectionately at him she did so and sat on the bed with him on her lap combing his hairs. Only Khushi was allowed to touch his hairs no one else. Not even Arnav. Guess this habit he definitely inherited from his father.
Arush blinked his chocolate brown orbs at his mother tugging at her heartstrings. It always does. Even the years passing by couldn't change it.
Her son was a ditto copy of her husband. She has seen Arnav's childhood photographs. Arush resembles him ninety nine point nine percent if you'd exclude the dark brown hairs he inherited from her.
"Maa, I want something." Arush made a perfect puppy dog face which Khushi uses in order to make Arnav agree to her irrational demands. Sometimes. Okay, most of the times. She giggled inwardly.
Smiling widely she asked.
"What is it, mera bachcha?" Khushi kissed him on his forehead.
Arush got down from her lap, walked to his parents' cupboard which was already open as Khushi was placing ironed clothes there. She kept sitting on the bed curiously noticing her son's every move.
He stopped in front of the closet and turned to her pointing to something in the rack.
"I want that." He said excitedly.
Khushi saw that he was pointing to Arnav's Armani suits hung in the cupboard.
"Your father's suit?" She asked amused.
He eagerly nodded.
"But sweetheart, aren't they quite oversized for you?" Khushi barely held back a laugh seeing him scowling.
"Maa, please." He whined.
Laughing Khushi stood up and came to crouch down before him.
"What are you gonna do with the suits?" She adjusted his collars rubbing his shirt off the dust. He must have come playing from the garden.
"I want to be like him!" He announced firmly crossing his arms over his chest turning his head to the other side indicating that he was upset.
"Oh dear," Khushi embraced him. "You already are."
He pulled back and looked at her knitting his brows together. Khushi couldn't help but kiss his small hands seeing him doing that.
"Really?"
"A hundred times, yes!" She nodded convincingly.
Arush's face lit up.
"If I am like him then shouldn't I dress like him, too?" He tried another tactic to make Khushi agree.
Khushi snickered understanding her son's motive.
"You are just a kid, kiddo."
"Maa!" He protested.
"Okay, fine." She ruffled his hairs.
"You want dresses like your Papa you'll get them. Happy?" She kissed his cheek.
"Very!"
He threw his arms around her making her heart grow in size. She smiled wide hiding him in her cocoon closing her eyes.
"I love you, Maa!" He said energetically before kissing her one more time ran out of the room.
Khushi chuckled in his wake shaking her head.
"I love you more, baby."
She knew now a days he was getting obsessed to imitate his father and this was another one of his crazy antics to achieve the same. She wondered what twists he would add to this plan to shock Arnav?
Knowing him she knew he must have had something up his sleeves. She just have to wait and watch how would he unravel it.
"Get ready Arnav ji our Junior ASR is upto another mischief. Again." She whispered fondly.
Ab apki khair nahi!
(Nothing could save you now)
*
A few days later in the morning Arush woke up quite early and jumped out of his bed straight to his parents room with extra enthusiasm. His room was right next to them and there was a door which directly opened into either's rooms.
He ran in through the same door pushing it open with a wide smile on his lips when it slipped off seeing his parents sleeping hugging each other.
Big fat tears formed in his eyes and in the next moment his wails filled the air jolting Khushi and Arnav up from their sleep.
Seeing that it was Arush crying they leaped out of the bed and rushed to him worriedly.
"Bachcha, are you hurt somewhere?" Khushi frantically searched him while Arnav brought the glass of water and made him drink.
Arush sniffled. Khushi wiped his face, his nose with her own eyes tearing up. Seeing which Arnav frowned. If it continued mother-son duo would soon be having the crying competition. So he carried Arush up in his arms and walked to sit on the bed with his son on his lap. Khushi followed whilst her vision blurred with tears.
"Tell us what's the matter little one or your Maa is gonna cry too. Do you want that?" Arnav cupped the side of his cheek. Arush looked at his Maa and seeing that his father was right he quickly wiped his face sobering up. Just like Arnav he couldn't see tears in her eyes either. Like father like son.
"Maa Papa hug each other while sleeping but they don't hug me when I am." Arush pouted complaining dissolving all the tension in the air.
Arnav half smiled while Khushi heaved a sigh of relief finding that it was nothing serious. Arnav smirked at Khushi who was formulating words in her mind to explain it to their son because she has seen the look on Arnav's face. He won't say anything because he wanted her to explain.
"Bachcha, we do hug you. In fact we stay with you until you don't sleep. That you already know don't you?" Khushi cupped the side of his cheek caressing his face. He nodded. Khushi wiped the tear stuck at the corner of his eyes.
"When you sleep me and your Papa give you a tight group hug before coming to our room." Khushi winked. Arush blinked his eyes at her whilst his face brightened up.
"Really?"
Khushi nodded with a smile leaning in to kiss his cheeks. Arush returned the kisses shifting to her lap. Arnav heaved a sigh of relief seeing his two most important people in his life back to their usual self. He don't know what he would do if one day he won't see them this happy and content. He probably would go insane because Khushi and Arush were the 'lifeline' of his life and happiness.
Arush grinned happily satisfied now.
"By the way little one." Arnav addressed him. Arush who was giggling as Khushi was tickling him turned to look at his father.
"Why are you up so early?"
At that Arush looked in between his parents before smiling cheekily. Arnav and Khushi understood the meaning behind his smile. He was upto something.
"That I can't tell you." Arush hugged Khushi tightly resting his head on her shoulder looking at Arnav mischievously.
"Why is that so?" Arnav bit back a chuckle.
"Sabar karo Sami pata chal jaye ga! (Patience 'Sami' you'll know)" Arush laughed seeing Arnav scowling.
"Oh god not again!" Arnav groaned. Khushi giggled embracing her son more closer to her running her fingers in his hairs.
"Fine don't tell me but don't call me with that name either. It irritates me."
"Oh why else would we use it if not to irritate you swami?" Khushi smirked.
Arnav warned her through his eyes. Khushi twitched her face unfazed.
"Unbelievable!" He muttered and left for his jogging now that he was up already.
"Bye bye sami!" Arush yelled from behind in his childish voice.
"Shut up Arush!" Came Arnav's shout from the corridor making the mother-son duo laugh.
"So my bachcha wants to discuss the matter with his Maa only, right?" Khushi turned to him knowingly making him sit on the bed facing her.
Arush smiled bobbing his head.
"How do you always know?" Arush asked putting his hand under his chin.
Khushi pulled his cheeks making him pout.
"Because I am your mother." She said proudly.
"My clothes? Those like Papa?" He asked eagerly.
"Oh that." She said knowingly. "They are already ready and like you said I kept it a secret from your father as well." She said secretly.
"Thank you Maa!" Arush cheered and threw his arms around her neck to hug her jumping up and down standing on the bed.
Khushi laughed hugging him back.
"I don't get it. Why you don't want your Papa to know?" She asked pulling him back.
In reply Arush grinned and even though no one was in the room he still went close to her ear and whispered his plan.
Aww!
Khushi wanted to say out loud but held back. Instead she raised her palm up in the air and whispered.
"Great. Perfect plan. Hifi!"
"Hifi!" Arush clapped his small hand with hers before embracing her again. Khushi gathered her bundle of joy in her arms like her most prized possession with her heart thudding in her chest feeling blessed like never before.
Oh so Arnav Singh Raizada is in for a big surprise!
She thought already imagining her Arnav's reaction.
*
Manorama was sitting in the living room touching up her makeup when suddenly her eyes fell on the top of the stairs that made the lipstick from her hand to tremble making funny patterns around her lips that Akash who was sitting across her on the couch along with Payal couldn't help but snicker. Payal bit back the laugh.
At Manorama's gasp they followed her line of vision and their jaws dropped just like Mami's.
"Oh my god. Matlab aik k naam pe aik muft muft muft? Badewa toh badewa chotewa toh hello hi bye bye!"
By this time whole family has gathered in the hall and their reaction was almost similar to Manorama except for Khushi who was warding evil eyes from her son grinning.
*
Arnav entered RM after his morning work out. His mood was little off as he got into an argument with a passerby.
He entered the living room cursing that man.
"Stupid man. Don't even know how to walk properly and was arguing with me. ME? The ASR?" He huffed. "Damn that asshole. Idiot fuc-" The remaining words died in his throat as he reached the dining hall and he stood dead shocked in his place as he registered something odd. Something unusual. No, not something. Someone!
At the head of the table. His chair precisely.
"What the!" He muttered causing every ear to perk to him to hear his reaction and he didn't disappoint them. At all.
He stood with his mouth hanged open as at the dining table right at the head of the chair Arush was sitting with a newspaper in his one hand and a toast in the other. Of course he couldn't reach the table height but seems like he made arrangements for that too. There were a few cushions placed under him to increase his height.
He was biting on the bread with his eyes glued to the newspaper in his other hand seriously. Intently.
Not only that he would also drink the orange juice every now and then. What shocked him more were the clothes he was wearing. Dark blue Armani suit with a black tie and blue blazer. His hairs were jelled back perfectly with a few tendrils falling on his forehead. At that Arnav's lips quirked up.
If anyone from outside saw Arush now they will surely consider him the 'little' clone of Arnav Singh Raizada in a small three piece suit.
Arnav seriously didn't know how to react. Whether to laugh or to be angry or be amused.
On the top of that he knew Arush hated having plain breakfast like he did. Bread, toast and juice weren't his thing. Instead he loved a lavish feast not only in the breakfast but in every meal. Just like his mother. Khushi.
He couldn't help but chuckle when Arush let go of the newspaper and held Khushi's hand above the table like he used to do every now and then during the breakfast.
Seems like his son has been paying attention to his every move and has noticed even minute of his actions.
Manorama nudged Anjali while Khushi was already peaking a look at her husband. One by one every eye turned to him around the table except for Arush who was busy imitating his father to the tee.
Arnav's face was worth watching.
His mouth was quirked up. They couldn't decipher whether it was in a smile or shock.
He seemed to be holding his breath.
His eyes were wide.
While his brows were knitted together. He perfectly presented a picture of a statue in a museum.
Khushi laughed out loud. She couldn't control it. Soon everyone joined her.
"Lagat hai Arnav bitwa ko sanp soong gawa hai hello hi bye bye!" Manorama said chuckling.
Their laughter somewhat brought Arnav back from his stupor but seems like his quota of shocks wasn't over yet as he saw Arush wiping his mouth with a napkin and got down from the chair.
His next action not only earned gasps from Arnav and Khushi but also every family member as he kissed the corner of Khushi's mouth and said,
"Okay shweet health. Will meet you in the evening and will call you when I will be free. Mish(Miss) me. Bye!" He raised himself on his toes and pressed his lips to her forehead.
"WHAT THE!" Arnav said out loud with his jaws dropped open.
Barely holding up everyone couldn't control at Arnav's reaction and burst into a chorus of laughter.
Arnav glared at them.
Arush bent to pick up something from the side of the chair before he walked around the table to come to stop in front of Arnav with full attitude. That's when Arnav noticed another thing.
Arush was carrying a small laptop bag quite similar to the one he have.
Khushi snickered seeing her Arnav going back to shock.
Mission: Shock Papa. Succeeded. Now next. Thought Khushi.
"Unbelievable!" Muttering Arnav picked him up in his arms kissing his cheeks. Walking to his chair he sat once HP removed the cushions he has placed for Arush baba.
Khushi filled Arnav's plate while Arnav sat with Arush in his lap extracting the bag out of Arush's hold and placing it on the side of the chair on the floor.
"Quite a show you put up here." Arnav said amused while eating his breakfast. "I see you had everyone on your side." He eyed his family around the table who had teasing smiles on their faces.
"Of course I am Junior Alush Singh Raizada so they had to be on my side!" Arush said proudly making them all smile at his cuteness.
"That you are. No doubt." Arnav kissed his temple before sipping his juice. Once everyone were done with the breakfast Arnav asked.
"By the way champ where are you planning to go with this preparation?"
"To office!" Arush cheered.
"What?" Arnav exclaimed earning giggles from the family.
"Yes Papa. Let's go. Or we'd be late." He got down his lap and picked his laptop bag while Arnav looked at his family with a frown on his face to help him. They shrugged royally.
Gritting his teeth he turned to his son who grabbed his hand and dragged him up.
"No. No. Little one you can't go with me. I will be very busy in the office and I won't be able to be with you all the time."
Arush scowled.
"No Papa. I am going with you and that's final." He said stubbornly.
"No you are not." Arnav said sternly but it had no affect on Arush.
He twitched his face and knitted his face at his father in anger.
"If you don't take me with you then.. then.. " He rolled his eyes from one side to the other so cutely that puffed off all of Arnav's anger. He pursed his lips to stop himself from smiling.
"Then what?" Arnav asked curiously.
"Then I will call you Sami from now on not Papa!" He said victoriously.
"What?" Arnav shrieked now angry. Again.
"Neither will you call me by that name nor will you go with me to office. And that's final too!" Arnav said authoritatively.
Everyone has been amusingly watching the scene as the father-son argued. No one interfered. They don't have to. It was a normal sight in RM. In one or the other thing they would argue because like Arnav and Khushi are quite opposite in personalities then so are Arnav and Arush. They are bound to have difference of opinions.
Unfazed by Arnav's anger Arush faced him heads-on. When Arnav didn't agree even after a whole fifteen minutes argument between them Arush's brain clicked with a solution.
Arush grinned suddenly making Arnav to look at him suspiciously.
"What's going on in your little head, little one?" Arnav asked raising an eyebrow looking scared of what might follow. In these matters he was as unpredictable as Khushi.
"Papa, let's make a deal." Arush offered.
A chorus of laughter from the family followed seeing Arnav's mouth opening and closing like a fish at his son's offer.
"How about you take me to office today and I promise to never call you Sami again?" Arush crossed his arms over his chest tapping his feet.
A short gasp from Arnav and chuckles from the family reverberated in the air.
"Think about it. It will be quite profit-umm I don't remember the full word. Profitaval?"
"Profitable?" Arnav half smiled shaking his head.
Arush bobbed his head.
Not bad. My son really got me. Deal with the little one? Interesting. It will be fun and I'd get rid of him calling me by that irritating Sami as well. Arnav thought. Clearly profitable deal!
"Deal!" Arnav extended his hand to shake with Arush who was more than eager to accept.
"Deal." Arush shook his hand grinning.
"I am going to take you to AR but you promise you'd uphold your end of the deal would you?" Arnav narrowed his eyes at his mischievous son. He was totally enjoying it now.
"I will." Arush threw his arms around Arnav enthusiastically. Arnav embraced him back smiling. His eyes met Khushi's who was giving him knowing, teasing looks. He told her through his eyes that he would deal with her later to which she winked making him laugh.
"Papa," Arush pulled back and looked at Arnav seriously. "There is still time to go to office, right?"
"Yes," Arnav said not understanding anything.
Arush pulled back and took many steps back. Arnav noticed his actions confused. Arush grinned reaching Khushi. Arnav raised his eyebrow.
Wrapping his arms around Khushi's waist from behind he peeked a look at Arnav mischievously. Khushi bit back a chuckle.
"What?"
"That means I can call you Sami till I reach the office. So, Sami. Sami. Sami. What the. What the. What the. La. La. La. La. La. La!" Arush shouted before scurrying off chanting the same.
Everyone chortled with laughter in which this time Arnav joined them too.
