This one-shot is about a man named Victor, who married Vivian. They were both warriors during the time of Sir Aaron, which made it seem like the marriage would work out. The only problem is that with marriage, Victor had to take Vivian from the one thing that she loved most: the battlefield.

Arranged marriages, ones that are forced, or any of the likes usually come off a bit awkward to read as they are being portrayed as this picture perfect arrangement between the couple at the very end. That wasn't necessarily the case for this story. The entire one-shot revolved around this couple who didn't really love each other, but the way the author decided to resolve it seemed nice. I really enjoyed the ending of this story.

Despite that, I think the characters seemed a bit too distant. I wish there were more interactions between Vivian and Victor as they were married. The way it was told made them seemed as if they were avoiding each other like two neighbors rather than a couple. While it was a bit of an arranged marriage, and they don't necessarily agree with one another, that doesn't mean they hardly interact with one another. I would've loved to see more interactions between the two characters in this one-shot rather than the couple that were shown.

This distance between the two characters and the way it was set up lessened the plot. I could tell there was a bit of a plot of Victor trying to make Vivian happy, despite taking her away from the place she wanted to be at, but I felt at a distance as to how much that meant to Vivian. It was only mentioned that she was a warrior at one point. The story never showed how much marrying Victor really affected her, causing there to be hardly any conflict at all. I was expecting there to be this argument between the two whenever they'd meet for this big climatic moment, but that never came. The plot was just there, and there could've been more done with it.

All that aside, I like where this book is going. It's quite different from many of the Pokéfics I've read before. I love that the story is focused on original characters that are placed in the Pokémon world rather than having it be so focused on the Pokémon. The Pokémon that were used could have been used a bit more in my opinion, but the fact that they didn't seemed thrown in there to make it a Pokéfic rather than a fictional book was very nicely done.

Overall, this one-shot has it's strong points but also needs a bit of work on. I just wanted more as a reader, but enjoyed the fact that it was different. The writer did a great job in putting forth the effort in creating this story.
