Chapter 12

~Jiwoo~

Ever since that incident with Jungkook, I've been avoiding him. Don't ask me why, even I don't know too. Well, that's kind of a lie right there.

Lately, I've been remembering things. Things that is getting harder for me to handle. Faces of the people I've lost along the way. I often wonder how long it will be until I can finally be free from my past... but I don't think it's possible. It's going to stay with me for the rest of my life. That's what demons are.

I was on my way to work when I bumped into Jungkook who was sitting on the kitchen bench, drinking milk. When he noticed my presence, he looked over his shoulder at me. Seeing him half naked like this wasn't a good thing. It makes me feel things I didn't want to feel. Especially not after waking up after a nightmare.

"What?"

I shook my head, "Nothing. I'm going to work now."

Jungkook didn't stop me as I left the building. I'm glad too.

~Jungkook~

Something was bothering Jiwoo. It's been a week and a half since their concert. Jiwoo's been avoiding Jungkook and only smiles now and then when she bumps into him and his members. It was strange because she was backing off. Why was she backing off?

As Jungkook was getting his makeup done for their photoshoot, he couldn't help but want to know what's been bothering Jiwoo. She's skinner than last time and she looked paler too. Sometimes, if Jungkook is paying close attention, he saw that her eyes were clouded with emotions that made Jungkook uncomfortable. It was like she was hurting or something. Was she hurting because he couldn't remember her? It wasn't exactly Jungkook's fault. Although it hurts him whenever he tries to remember her, a part of him really does want to remember her.

Jungkook stood up after he was done and then saw flashes of Jiwoo's sad eyes this morning.

"Are you the reason why my heart is hurting?" Jungkook whispered to himself, hand over his chest that was throbbing with every breath he took. He tilted his head to the side, wanting to know why seeing her like this was hurting him more so than usual.

"Jungkook?" Namjoon placed a hand on Jungkook's back, "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"Yeah," Jungkook dropped his hand. "I'm okay."

Namjoon didn't look like he believe Jungkook but he didn't say anything else too. Jungkook hesitated for a bit before asking the question that's been bothering him ever since waking up from the hospital.

"Hyung."

"Yeah?"

Jungkook inhaled deeply and then asked, quietly, "Did I really love her that much that I asked her to marry me?"

Namjoon didn't bother hiding his surprise. "What?"

"I'm thinking of postponing the wedding," he said, slowly. "It doesn't feel right to marry someone without remembering them. I don't think Jiwoo would want the wedding to go on without me remembering her too."

"Shouldn't you discuss this with her then?"

"I don't want to," Jungkook muttered. I don't want to see Jiwoo looking like she's about to cry. I don't want to be the reason.

Namjoon sighed softly and then placed both hands on Jungkook's shoulders, making eye contact with him. "You love her. More than anything."

Jungkook stared.

"You were ready to throw away everything for her," he continued on quietly, "You love her. Trust me, it was the kind of love that only comes once in a lifetime. The you back then knew it."

"Seriously?" Jungkook murmured.

"You were the one who wanted the wedding to be this soon," Namjoon squeezed his shoulders in comfort. "You had your reasons for that," he said quietly.

"What do you mean?"

Namjoon shook his head, "You're going to have to figure it out yourself, Jungkook. But you know," he dropped his hands, "don't push yourself to remember it, okay? I think... I think Jiwoo would understand if you want to postpone the wedding." He hesitated, "You need to think things through and then talk to her. Finalise everything first."

Jungkook heaved a sigh.

Namjoon's lips curled into a smile, "You'll remember, Jungkook."

"And if I don't?"

The smile was there but it didn't touch his eyes.

"You have to."
