Social Skills

I've had trouble relating.

It's difficult associating with people for me.

I feel better when there is no one around.

I don't have to make nice or try to understand or worry about being understood.

I have had therapy to help me with my social skills.

Most people have no problem coexisting.

Having suffered PTSD long term without treatment, I had developed trust issues, anger issues and other issues that make interacting uncomfortable at times.

Isolation, long-term, only makes things worse.

After a while, I seemed to have lost the skills necessary to bond.

Though I have been able to appear to socially acceptable, that took an enormous amount of energy.

Which only added to the discomfort of relating.

Social Skills Therapy incorporates roleplay, uncomfortable situations and specific life issues.

It's a lot of work and it is not easy working so hard, only to realize that the outcome is a life that I had spent so much time trying to avoid... Interacting with other humans.

I guess what I am trying to relay is, the next time that you encounter someone who seems a little uneasy in social situations, ask yourself, what can I do to help that person through what appears to be an ackward situation.
