A True Beauty

She made the best cornbread and chocolate cake. She was a hard working woman but you would never know it by her lifestyle. Always dressed in the finest fashions, always driving the latest models, always on the go.

At the factory, she and her big brother were leaders. She achieved power reserved for men and the respect of everyone that she encountered.
People always thought that her husband and my Dad were brothers because they were so close. Even those who had known her growing up seemed to have forgotten that she was a Brown from the beginning. Dad was her big brother.

When she got sick all of our worlds changed. My uncle who never had to eat leftovers because she cooked fresh for him daily, had to learn to cook.

Her children felt a loss few ever experience. To lose a parent that is still alive has to be tough.

She was a big part of my life before my Mother died and helped so much afterwards.

My Aunt Dorothy was, is and always will be an important part of my life. Alzheimer's has affected all of our lives. No she no longer able to do any of the things that she did so well before her illness, but she is still just as beautiful and important to me.
