Chapter 5 - 'Disaster'
[Hey everyone, sorry for no update last week. I couldn't get out a chapter in time that I was happy with. Also...As some of you may know by now, my Dad passed away, so that was another thing. But like I stated elsewhere, I wanna write. So, please, no comments about taking time off. If I feel I need to, I will. But for now, I'm happy as is. Just thought I should explain what went down so you know!]
[You guys absolutely smashed out the vote goal last week, so, as promised, I'm here once again with a full on 15K word chapter!!! And this one is filled with so much good stuff you'll barely be able to contain yourself. Another thing, this book has reached a pretty big milestone. Because the characteristics of the reader are finally set in! What I mean by that is, these passed four chapters have had the reader have a different personality in each one.
But with the last chapter, he's finally found an area in his life where he can be confident, whilst still himself. He can be afraid, without letting it overdue him. But, of course, there is always room for development. So if you're excited for what's come today, be sure to vote and let me know your thoughts in the comments. Because here we go people...The action starts now! After all, we did end on a pretty big cliffhanger last week~]

[3rd Person POV]
The orange shine of the morning sun slowly began to rise over the surrounding area of Tokyo's Jujutsu High. The hours of a new day finally coming into sight for all those that called this place home. But whereas the likes of Panda, Itadori, Inumaki, Megumi, and the new student, Nobara, found themselves struggling to wake up. There were two people in particular who had already been awake for about thirty minutes now. But what could be more surprising than two people being awake since 6:30?
Well, the fact that a surprisingly peaceful Maki found herself lying in her bed. Despite being awake, her eyes remained shut as she cuddled up next to an undisclosed object lying next to her. It wasn't long, however, until that undisclosed object was revealed to be none other than (Y/n) (L/n) himself. His own body lying peacefully, an arm wrapped around Maki's own body. Allowing her head to rest on the part of his shoulder, whilst her hand was placed gently on his bare chest. The two lying in peace, after having spent the night together.
(Y/n) had expected the majority of the previous night being filled with his attempts to ask Maki to forgive him after the whole 'texting' fiasco that took place yesterday...Thanks to Gojo. But, instead, it was resolved rather quickly. However, Maki did demand a few things to properly seal the day. Those things being an undisclosed amount of time reserved for making out; and for (Y/n) to spend the night so Maki could have cuddles. It seemed no matter the attitude of a girl, they still demanded cuddles. Something (Y/n) was happy to offer.
Though, as he soon found out, time for cuddles was coming to an end. Such misery was soon made known to Maki, as the sound of an alarm coming from (Y/n)'s phone on the nightstand suddenly went off.
~Ring~ ~Ring~ ~Ring~
The sound was enough to cause both sets of eyes to immediately snap open. It took a few minutes for the pair to adjust to it before Maki aimlessly reached behind her to somehow place (Y/n)'s alarm on snooze without even looking at his phone. Once done, Maki brought her arm back around and resumed cuddling up to (Y/n)'s body. Unfortunately for her, a groan from the boy's body was the start of her morning which she didn't like.
(Y/n): [Groans] "Well, then..." [Yawns] "...I guess I better get going before anyone else gets up."
Though when (Y/n) tried to get up out of the bed, he was immediately pushed back down by Maki. A single hand was all it took to keep him in place. When (Y/n) turned toward the girl in bed with him, he was greeted by a narrow glare that accompanied the messy green hair that surrounded the rest of her head.
Maki: "Where do you think you're going?"
(Y/n): "Uh...Back to my room? I gotta have a shower and stuff before class starts today."
Maki: "Okay, and? Can't you do that here?"
(Y/n): [Thoughts] "Like, what? Have...Have a shower with her? Does she mean that? Or does she..."
No words were registered by his thoughts. Instead, (Y/n)'s eyes widened slightly as his face went pale. When Maki realized such, she was confused. Though when she saw a trinkle of blood running down his nose she immediately realized what (Y/n) was thinking. Without a moment of hesitation the girl grabbed a pillow off the ground, one which she previously discarded in order to use the male's shoulder instead, and ploughed it right into his head without hesitation.
(Y/n): [Mumbled] "Ow!" [Removes pillow] "What was that for?"
Maki: "Pfft...Disgusting."
She said with narrowed eyes, now sitting up on the edge of the bed, before turning her gaze to the floor in front of her. Her glare immediately getting exchanged for one of innocence. As for (Y/n), he was left confused. Even so, he attempted to do his best by slowly lifting his body, so he was seated dead centre in the middle of the bed, where he was able to look at the back of Maki's head as he spoke.
(Y/n): "Everything alright? I mean, I thought you were over yesterday. Like, I made out like you wanted...And I stayed the night for cuddles..."
Maki: [Scoffs] "Please! Don't make it out like you didn't like either of those...punk."
...And just like that she was back to glaring, this time at the floor, with her arms crossed. All the while (Y/n) was even more confused than before.
(Y/n): "Okay, now I know something's up. Because I know, you know, for a fact, that I did enjoy all of what I just mentioned."
Slowly (Y/n) proceeded to stretch his neck out until it softly landed on the shoulder of Maki. Their cheeks were slightly touching as the male dawned an inquisitive, yet cute, look.
(Y/n): "Everything okay, Maki?"
Maki couldn't keep up the act with such a cute expression mixed with adorable talk. Before long, she was admitting the truth of what was up.
Maki: [Sighs] "...I don't want you to have to leave so early. I don't like it."
(Y/n): "Huh? But I thought you said you wanted to keep us...you know, getting together, on the down low for a while?"
Maki: "I do! I do...I mean, you just got back, and I can't deal with people like Gojo and Panda teasing me about it all the time. And if my family found out I'm dating someone, they'd just use it as an excuse for me to remain at being a grade-four sorcerer."
(Y/n): "But...?"
Maki: "...But I don't want you to feel like I don't like this. L-Like I don't like you..." [Blushes] "Because I do...A-And I don't want to hide it. But I feel like it's the only way to keep things together. Just for now...But still..."
It wasn't often that Maki acted in such an open manner toward (Y/n), or anyone in general. But ever since they've started secretly dating, Maki's been like an open book to (Y/n). Of course, she often hides such moments by acting as the cold person (Y/n) knew her as when he first met the girl. But (Y/n) found it far more adorable this time around. Even so, seeing her like this made (Y/n) feel things he never felt for anyone before. So when he noticed Maki acting in a way that clearly showed her sadness. Her postponed leaving early, to instead shift around on the bed until he was sitting right next to her on the edge. A gentle smile resting on his lips as he did so.
(Y/n): [Smiles] "...Hey, I get it. Don't go thinking I'm annoyed or anything because you don't want to tell people about us. I understand the situation with your family, at least, from what you've told me. And I'm with you about the Panda stuff. Him and Gojo would have a field day if they found out about this..." [Scratches chin] "Though I might earn the respect of those high school kids who threw dirt at me before I came here..."
Maki: [Turns to you] "Huh?"
(Y/n): "Nothing. Nothing. Just thinking about the past..."
Though as he mentioned that, a realization came to mind. One that brought a glimmer of joy in his eyes as he turned back to Maki.
(Y/n): "Though, if you ask me, I don't need to focus on what happened in the past. I just need to focus on the future...With you."
As he said those words, (Y/n) reached out and gently took Maki's left hand into his own. Leaving her to smile softly down at the ground.
(Y/n): "I mean, I was as shocked as anyone when you totally came onto me." [Looking around and smiles] "Like, I knew you were into me before. But, damn girl, who knew you were so--"
WHACK!
The next thing (Y/n) knew, he was hunched over, chuckling silently with a goofy smile as a large lump rested atop his head. All the while the narrowed eyes of Maki focused in on him.
Maki: "You wanna say the truth this time?"
(Y/n): [Chuckles] "I-I mean...I was the one who totally came onto you..." [Thumbs up] "... Consent verified and everything."
Maki: "Hmm...That's better."
She said, stoically, as she looked away. Though a smile wasn't long before it found her lips. Meanwhile, (Y/n) gathered himself together and combed his hair over the lump with his hand.
(Y/n): "But seriously, you're one of the reasons why I wanted to change so much. I wanted to be a better person for you. That's...That's why I said what I said last week. I admitted everything to you, because I realized just wanting to be a better person for you would be nothing...If I couldn't have you..."
As soon as she heard such, Maki was unable to hold herself back from twisting her head back in the direction of (Y/n). Their gaze met momentarily, a lingering sensation between them, before (Y/n) shook his head, smiled from the thoughts, and continued.
(Y/n): "S-So I understand why you want to keep things quiet for now. And, hey, that's alright. You do what you gotta do. I didn't just think about you for three years just to get annoyed when you want to do something that feels right to you. Instead of being annoyed, I'll support you."
Maki: "(Y/n)..."
(Y/n): "Besides. I'm sure one thing or another will eventually cause the news to slip. I mean, have you seen this school? It only took a few days before everyone found out the Principal went on a date. And what did we do? We proceeded to make fun of him in the most loveable student way!"
Maki: [Chuckles softly] "Yeah, I guess we did..."
(Y/n): "But seriously...It's okay. Do what you've gotta do. But for now, I'm gonna enjoy the fact that I can finally do this~"
Without a word of warning, (Y/n) wasted no time in leaning forward and smashing his lips against Maki's own. A surprised squeak escaped her lips as her body fell backward into her bed, allowing (Y/n) to climb on top and continue showing Maki how much he felt for her. And it seemed to work. Maki was much happier five minutes later, when her smiling, blushing face could be seen in the background as (Y/n) silently closed the door to her room.
All before he turned and proceeded to sneak back to his own dorm building across the school grounds. But first, he'd have to make it through the second year's dorm building hallway. Where (Y/n) silently stepped passed the closed doors of the other second years rooms, and the open door of the bathroom, where Inumaki stood in the entrance with a toothbrush in hand. Left to silently stand there as (Y/n) walked passed with a smile on his face and his outer layers of his uniform in hand.
(Y/n): "Sup, Inumaki."
He said without even glancing at the male. Instead, he just continued walking as Inumaki silently stretched his head out into the hallway in confusion. This was only just the start to the day for the students of Jujutsu High...
[Your POV]
You know what I love...Women! But you know what's a close second? Breakfast! Honestly, I never knew I could miss the stuff so much. Yet, right now, myself, along with Itadori, found out just how much I missed having breakfast. As currently, I sat down at the table in the small dining hall of Jujutsu High, with three empty plates with nothing but crumbs placed in front of me. On the opposite side of the long, extended table, a shocked Itadori watched in wonder at how I scoffed down a whole pancake in one go.
Itadori: "Oooh! (Y/n), you're so cool!"
(Y/n): "Wha! Wga! Wha! Yweah? Fanks!"
Now, my words weren't exactly clear due to the fact I had pancake in my mouth, but Itadori seemed to understand the true meaning of being boys...Being astounded by random acts of masculinity. Though, of course, there were a few people who were left...Not so impressed. Such being Megumi and Nobara, who stood at the foot of the table, trays of food in hand, as they looked on in disgust and confusion.
Nobara: "Is this really what boys find funny?" [Shakes head] "Disgusting."
Megumi: [Sighs] "This is happening again?"
Nobara: "Again?! You mean this has happened before?!"
The stunned look in which Nobara immediately offered upon turning to Megumi was responded with nothing. Due solely to the fact that before Megumi could say anything, I had already swallowed my food. Of course, I took it upon myself to completely ignore what either one had said and decided to instead enjoy breakfast further. And what better way than to eat food with friends?
(Y/n): "Haha! What's up, guys? Glad you could make it! Come eat!"
Megumi: [Sighs] "...Good morning."
(Y/n): "Haha! Yep! No matter if it's six at night or six in the morning, Megumi's always a bowl full of joy!"
Nothing but a wayward glance came from the aforementioned male as he sat down on one side of me, though I did receive a laugh from Itadori. Following this, I turned back to Nobara. At first, she still had that same disgusted/confused look on her face. Though the longer we looked at each other, that look quickly shifted out for a smile. Followed soon by a closing of her eyes and a nudge of her shoulders.
Nobara: "What the hell. I'm already stuck at this school. Might as well accept that you boys need some feminine charms amongst you."
And so, with that, Nobara brought her own tray of food and sat down on my right. Now I was placed right in the middle of Megumi and Nobara, whilst Itadori sat alone on the other side. It wasn't long until Itadori got into a conversation with Megumi. After all, their rooms were right next to each other, so Itadori immediately took that as fact that the pair were friends.
Meanwhile, I went about eating my breakfast once more. All the while watching the two boys talk about their situation being 'roomies' as Itadori liked to put it, something Megumi quickly denied. It was as this happened, however, that the voice of Nobara spoke up. Seemingly directed at me. Which was kinda odd, as girls didn't normally like talking to me if they had a choice. Well, old me, anyway.
Nobara: "Seriously? Scrambled eggs? Where are we? America? Where's the rice? The miso soup? The salmon?" [Turns to you] "When did this place become foreign exactly?"
(Y/n): "Hmm..." [Nudges shoulders] "It was normal when I was first here. Though I heard from Panda, apparently the Principal went to the States a few months back and got hooked on a bunch of American food, and brought it back for the menu here."
Megumi: "Panda told you that? How'd he know?"
(Y/n): "Beats me! That guy seems to know all the tiny bits of information..." [Mumbles] "Trust me, I'd know..."
Nobara: "Yeah, well...I'm not used to eating all...This."
With the final word, Nobara proceeded to pick up a scoopful of scrambled eggs with a handy fork. Though, going off the way she eyed it. She wasn't exactly pleased with it. Though Itadori seemed to be the opposite.
Itadori: "Eh dow't kow what yur tackling about! Tish ish gwreat!"
He said...as she shoved his own scrambled eggs...into his mouth.
Nobara: "Why am I not surprised you like it. You can eat whatever junk you want. But I can't."
Itadori: [Suddenly looks up] "Orh knrow..." [Swallows] "...Are you dying?"
Nobara: "What?! No!" [Scoffs] "Idiot...I'm talking about my womanly features. I can't just go around eating junk. How else am I supposed to get the attention of boys I like?"
Itadori: [Blankly blinks] "I dunno..."
Immediately he went back to eating. However the mention of Nobara liking a boy was topic enough for me to start a conversation with the girl. After all, I may be dating Maki now. But still, it'd be nice to properly understand how girls work so I can better handle situations like yesterday. Besides, Nobara seemed fine talking about guys yesterday, so I don't see a problem with asking her now.
(Y/n): "So, you like a boy, huh?"
Nobara: [Blushes immediately] "What?!" [Turns to you] "Huh? No! I don't like anyone! Why would you think that?!"
(Y/n): "..." [Nudges shoulders] "I don't know. Was just asking really."
Nobara: "Oh..."
Nobara seemed settled on that as the last word of the conversation. Though, before it could end, suddenly Megumi added himself into the matter.
Megumi: "But didn't you say yesterday about some prince charming to impress?"
Nobara: [Blushes] "What? No...I don't recall saying that."
(Y/n): "Oh, yeah. That sounds familiar." [Turns to Nobara] "You were telling me yesterday, remember? About some prince charming guy. That's one of the reasons you wanted to go shopping."
I say one of the reasons as the other was due to Nobara's childhood friend she wanted to see. But still, upon bringing up this prince charming fellow, Nobara was quick to blush once more. Her nervous antics were honestly funny. As they reminded me of me before I decided to take some courage fuel and become confident. Though, I was pretty open when I liked someone. Nobara seemed hesitant to admit such a thing. Only finally doing so when Megumi and I brought up the same person mentioned by Nobara yesterday. Now she was left with a blush as she scrambled her words together.
Nobara: "Okay, so maybe I was talking about some guy yesterday...But...But that doesn't necessarily mean I like him anymore..."
(Y/n): "You don't like him anymore?"
Nobara: "I...I don't...I don't know! Okay?! I don't know..."
With her eyes remaining on her plate of food before her, Nobara proceeded to flick a strand of hair behind her ear as she remained as calm as possible.
Nobara: "If you all must know, however, I like someone else right now..."
Megumi: "Really?"
(Y/n): "Oh, who is it?"
Itadori: "Tell us! Tell us!"
Nobara: "W-What? No! I'm not telling you guys, you..." [Scoffs] "Boy, you really need more female company around here. You're all so weird."
(Y/n): [Chuckles] "Come on, Nobara. It'll be fun. Think of it as a bonding exercise between first-year students..." [Mumbles] "Something I'm still pissed off about, by the way..."
Looking at Nobara, I could tell she was still hesitant to tell us about this person she liked. The slight appearance of a blush on her face was clear, but I knew what it was like to be nervous about stuff, so I did the one thing I knew would work...I comforted her with a smile. It seemed to work because a few minutes later Nobara proceeded to swipe another strand of hair behind her ear before she finally admitted to what we were expecting.
Nobara: "Well...Maybe there is someone I'm interested in."
Itadora: "...It's me, isn't it?"
Nobara: "IT'S NOT YOU, YOU IDIOT! AS IF I'D GO FOR A GUY LIKE YOU! YOU'RE SO NOT ON MY LEVEL! THE FACT YOU EVEN THINK I'D GO FOR GUY LIKE YOU IS REDICULOUS!
One rant later, and Nobara could be seen muttering to herself, glare focused on Itadori as she crossed her arms. Meanwhile, Itadori looked down at the ground in defeat. Though, it wasn't long before a sigh escaped the female's lips. A set of heartfelt words releasing just a few seconds after.
Nobara: [Sighs] "...He's someone I met recently since coming to Tokyo. At first, I thought he was an idiot...Like you guys..."
Itadori: "You sure it's not--"
Nobara: "IT'S NOT YOU!!!"
Itadori: [Drops head] "Oh..."
Nobara: "As I was saying, I thought he was an idiot...But he's alright." [Smiles softly] "He's sweet, though a bit clueless. He's funny too. And, I suppose he's rather handsome." [Grins] "Pfft! Though he definitely needs the company of a girl to straighten out a few edges he has...Though, I'm sure I can handle that."
Megumi: "Wow...Surprised you met someone that quickly."
Nobara: "Yeah, well, I have a sense of attracting hot guys. I mean, look at me!"
(Y/n): "He's sounds great, Nobara. Hopefully, we get to meet him sometime!"
Nobara: "Oh, um..."
I just kept smiling at her as she paused momentarily.
Nobara: [Blushes] "...Y-Yeah, maybe." [Drops head] "I don't know. I'll see..." [Lifts head] "But, hey! Forget about that! What matters now is figuring out how I'm going to eat this...breakfast."
(Y/n): [Chuckles] "Here. Try this."
Nobara: "Huh?"
A look of confusion found her face momentarily as I reached out across the table to grab a bottle of ketchup, yet again, another thing the principal brought back from his trip to the states. I couldn't help but smile upon noticing the way Nobara eyed the bottle. My smile only growing when I saw her eyes widen in shock when I began spreading the condiment over her food.
Nobara: "What are you doing?"
(Y/n): "Trust me. It'll make it better."
Nobara: "But...I can't have that."
(Y/n): "What? Why not?"
Nobara: "Because...My feminine features?"
She said such words with an adorable set of puppy dog eyes on display. Honestly, I couldn't help but smile seeing her act in such a way. Nevertheless, I didn't back down from finishing up with the ketchup.
(Y/n): "Come on, it'll be fine. It won't hurt you. Just try a little...and tell me what you think?"
I could tell Nobara was hesitant, though, honestly, I don't exactly know why. Even so, I pushed forward and proceeded to spread more of the ketchup onto the scrambled eggs in front of her. The look in her eyes showcased she wasn't exactly thrilled by what she saw even after the added condiment. But it seemed like all she needed was an approving look from me for her to take that first bite.
It was as she did this, that the hesitation in her eyes began to falter until finally she shoved bit of scrambled egg into her mouth. The sight of her eyes sealed tight, as if she was preparing herself for the worst taste ever was really funny to see. But I decided to hold in my laughter, knowing the treatment I would get if I even released a chuckle. It was the worst pain ever...Thankfully for me, I was finally able to release this laughter when her eyes suddenly burst open, with a happy squeal following not long after.
Nobara: "MMMM!!!!" [With food in mouth] "It's so good!"
(Y/n): "Haha! I told you so!"
Immediately, I twisted my body, leaned toward Megumi and whispered.
(Y/n): [Whispers] "I totally didn't know it'd work. I just went out on a limb."
The silent boy just looked at me, before I turned back around to smile at Nobara. Who was now shoving down as much of the scrambled eggs mixed with ketchup as fast as she could? All I could was watch in silence and admire my brilliance, when suddenly my gaze was directed passed Nobara's head where the sight of the second years could be seen entering the dining hall. Immediately I lifted up in my seat to wave at them, and at the start, things seemed good.
Both Panda and Inumaki were quick to offer waves back. Panda's more energetic than Inumaki's, of course. The last person to enter was Maki, who didn't wave, but she did smile. That was all I needed to see from her to know she was also happy to see me. Of course, she could have waved. But, she probably thought doing such a thing would lead the others to begin thinking that we were dating.
Of course, something so simple wouldn't do such a thing. But Maki seemed to think such a thing would happen, but I didn't bring it up because I found this side of her to be extremely cute. However...Something did happen that I will bring up. For when Maki smiled at me, it was only a few seconds later that it suddenly dropped. At first, I was confused. But my confusion didn't last much longer. As out of nowhere, Nobara's face popped up between my own and Maki's.
Nobara: "(Y/n), it's so good! Try some! Try some!"
All I could see was the excited face of Nobara as she tried bringing a piece of the scrambled eggs covered in ketchup toward my mouth. However, whereas my eyes were focused on Nobara, my mind was focused on Maki. I knew as soon as her smile dropped that something was off. So now I was left to desperately look passed Nobara as all she seemed interested in was placing food into my mouth.
I eventually did manage to look past Nobara, and what I saw frightened me. The sight of Maki's narrowed gaze focused on me, sharp enough that it could break through the glass surrounding her eyes. As soon as I saw it, all I could do was look at her in confusion. But Maki didn't seem to take any pity on my perplexed gaze, as she simply proceeded to cross her arms, close her eyes, and shift her head to the side.
All the while she, and the rest of the second years, walked on by. The difference was, whereas Panda and Inumaki offered smiles, Maki simply kept her cold demeanor. Even when she reached me, she stopped, looked down at me, before turning her head to the side once more and walked off over to collect her food from the cook. All the while, myself, and everyone else, watched on in confusion.
Megumi: "What's her problem?"
Panda: "Don't know. She seemed fine before. Like, really fine. She was smiling and everything." [Turns to the side] "Do you know, Inumaki?"
As soon as I heard the name of Inumaki, my body froze in place, as I remembered the events of earlier today, when I passed the by in the early hours of the morning. Slowly my head began to turn in the direction of the aforementioned male. When I did, we just stared at each other. Soon enough fear started forming more and more inside my system. Like Inumaki didn't technically know what was going on with Maki, all he knew was that I left the second year dorm building in the morning before anyone else was awake. So I was still uncertain of what he might say or do.
Inumaki: "...Salmon."
(Y/n): [Sighs] "Thank goodness."
Panda: "Salmon? What do you mean 'Salmon'?"
Itadori: "What's the matter? Doesn't he say that all the time?"
Panda: "Yeah, but that normally means something else! Right now he's legit just saying 'Salmon'!"
Inumaki: "...Salmon."
Panda: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!?!"
Panda screamed as he began shaking Inumaki about. Though, even so, he seemed unphased by it all. As for me, I took this moment of a distraction to slowly creep out of my chair to hopefully reconcile with Maki. However, just as I thought I was away free, the voice of Megumi suddenly brought me to an entire pause.
Megumi: "Where are you going?"
(Y/n): "Huh?" [Turns around to everyone] "Oh, me? I was just going to see if Maki was okay, you know...As the friend that I am."
Panda: "Heh~ Heh~ Heh~ Friend~"
(Y/n): [Narrows gaze] "Panda, you say anything else and I will slap you so hard I'll be damn sure to make you an albino Panda. Then your species would even be rarer than before!"
Instantly Panda lost his smirk, his body going frozen in fear. With that I proceeded to turn around and walk off toward Maki. Meanwhile, a few returned to eating. But noticeably, Nobara was the only one to have her gaze linger on me for a little while longer. As for me, I continued on my path toward the front of the kitchen, where Maki could be seen receiving her food from the chief on a tray just like the rest of us.
Maki: "Thank you."
She said with a blank expression, though, it didn't remain blank for long when she turned around to be instantly greeted by my loveable, charming face.
(Y/n): "Heeeey, girlfriend. How's it--"
Maki: "I hate you."
(Y/n): "H-Huh?"
I was so thrown off by the words that I think I went blind momentarily. Because I didn't even notice when Maki stepped past me to return to the table where the others were. However, I knew if I let her return, I wouldn't have a chance to fix any of this until later. And if there was something I knew about Maki...It's that she was hot. Also, if I left her angry for too long it'd take too much to calm her down.
And this time, making out and cuddles wouldn't fix it. So, without a moment to waste, I twisted my body and turned around. Barely able to reach out to grab her arm slightly. Though, it seemed she was prepared for this, Because just as soon as I touched her sleeve, she immediately spun around with her fist drawn back ready to knock the lights out of me.
Maki: "Give me one good reason, (Y/n). One good reason why I shouldn't punch you right now?"
(Y/n): "Um...Because I'm handsome and if you punch me I'll get a bruise?"
Maki: "This isn't the time for jokes, (Y/n)."
(Y/n): "Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. Look, I'm just trying to understand what's going on, okay? Why are you upset?"
Instantly Maki's eyes narrowed further, nor did her fist drop. Which caused me to be even more concerned.
Maki: "You seriously don't know why I'm mad?"
(Y/n): "I...May have an idea...or two?"
Maki: "Here, (Y/n), let me give you a hint..." [Fake smiles] "(Y/n), it's so good! Try some! Try some!"
(Y/n): "Okay...I know this is serious, and you're totally doing an impression of Nobara. But you gotta admit..." [Chuckles] "You looked really cute doing tha--"
Maki: "(Y/n)!"
(Y/n): "Right. Right. Serious moment. Potential to get hit. I'll focus up now...But still, what are you mad about?"
Maki: "Um, I don't know. That another girl is sitting next to my boyfriend getting all close to him? Or maybe the fact that she's clearly flirting with him!"
(Y/n): "Okay, I don't think she was flirting with--"
Maki: [Blankly stares] "(Y/n), I hardly know this girl, the second-years only met her and Itadori last night. And yet I already know that she is cold to everyone. So seeing her act like that with someone, especially a boy, is a clear indication that they like someone."
(Y/n): [Mumbles with a smile] "Pfft! If that's an indication that a cold girl likes a boy, how come you never did that wit--"
PUNCH!
A few seconds later, I stood with a large lump on my head, the second of the day, both delivered by Maki. It wasn't so odd getting punched in the head, but the fact it happened twice in the same day by the same person was what was odd about it. Nevertheless, all I could do was rub it to ease the pain as I tried sorting out everything with Maki.
(Y/n): "Okay, maybe she does like me and I got a hint of that too. Maybe! Okay? But even if she was flirting with me, Maki? What would you want me to do? Tell her I have a girlfriend? Because last time I checked, you wanted to keep this thing a secret."
Maki: "Yes, but...but...Argh! It still didn't mean you had to sit next to her, idiot!"
(Y/n): "Me sit next to her? Maki, I was here first. Nobara sat next to me. I can't just tell her to sit somewhere else."
Maki: "Uh, you could have?!"
We both know I couldn't really do that. Even so, Maki still seemed annoyed by the fact Nobara sat next to me and was seemingly flirting with me. Sure, when she started babbling on about a guy she liked, I did what all males do when hearing such a thing. I asked the lifelong question... 'Is she talking about me?'. Nevertheless, I tried not to overthink things. Yet, Maki didn't seem happy with that. However, I wasn't happy seeing Maki unhappy. So I went about trying to comfort her in the best way I could without making it obvious with everyone still sitting at the table.
(Y/n): "Look, Maki, I'm sorry if I upset you, okay? But really, I didn't mean it. I just...I was just trying to be nice to someone, okay?"
Honestly, I didn't mean to get sentimental with it. Yet, it seemed to all just spill out. The more I did, the more Maki's expression softened.
(Y/n): "...I've never had many friends in life, but since I've been here, everything has changed. I've got great friends...Heck, I got a girlfriend whose the prettiest girl I've ever seen! So...I'm sorry if the excitement got away from me a little. Again, I didn't mean to upset you. So, I hope you can forgive me, okay?"
Even before my words had finished, I knew I sealed the job. The fact Maki was blushing whilst glaring at me was an obvious point of such. As all this happened, however, Nobara could still be seen watching all this go down from the table. Even as Megumi and Itadori ate breakfast, and Panda and Inumaki sat beside Nobara.
Nobara: "(Y/n) and her seem like close friends?" [Turns to Panda] "They dating or something?"
Panda: "Oooh, baby! Don't get me started on that!" [Leans to Nobara] "Please get me started on that, I love talking about love. I'm a Panda after all. They're the animal of love!"
Itadori: "They are?"
Megumi: "They're not."
Immediately Panda launched out of his seat and aggressively pointed at Megumi.
Panda: "WE ARE SO, MEGUMI, AND I WILL NOT HAVE YOU TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME!"
Megumi: "...Whatever."
His words were dry as bone. As for Panda, he sat back down and smiled at Nobara.
Panda: "As for (Y/n) and Maki--"
Inumaki: "Tuna mayo."
Panda: [Turns to him] "Huh? What? Why?"
Inumaki: "Fish flakes."
Panda: [Sighs] "Fine! Whatever, buzzkill." [Crosses arms] "I'll talk about love if I want too."
Nobara: "What's the matter?"
Panda: "Huh? Oh, Maki has refused me from talking about love involving her, or (Y/n)."
Nobara: "Oh...How come?"
Panda: "Maki doesn't like love. Though, I totally know she does. I get that feeling every time I see her aro--[Notices Maki walking over] "--And that's why Panda's are not black and white...But white and black, Itadori."
Itadori: "Huh?"
The young boy immediately lifted his head upon hearing his name called. Though, clearly he was confused by what was going on. And so too were Maki and I, who both stood on the opposite side of the table looking at Panda in confusion.
Panda: "Oh, Maki! (Y/n)! You're both back! I was just telling Itadori here how Panda's are not black and white, but white and black. Haha. Everyone always gets confused by that."
Maki: "Oh, um...Okay." [Turns to you] "Anyway, you want to sit here?"
(Y/n): "Sure."
Though, of course, as soon as I sat down on the opposite side of my previous position, right between Maki and Itadori. It immediately brought a confused look on Nobara's face.
Nobara: "How come you're sitting over there? You were sitting on this side?"
(Y/n): "Huh? Oh, um...Right!" [Looks around] "I was, just, um...Oh! I wanted to sit next to my best friend! Itadori! Haha..."
Itadori: [Smiles] "Really?"
(Y/n): "Um...Yeah, sur--"
Panda: "THE PAIN! Oh...Oh...The pain!" [Clenches heart] "(Y/n)...How...How dare you!"
(Y/n): "Huh?"
Upon turning to glance at Panda, I was greeted by the heartbroken look his face mustered. Though he seemed to try and hold it in as he turned his face away slightly.
(Y/n): "Uh, Panda? Everything alright, bud--"
Panda: "No! Just...Just don't! You've already caused enough harm...Ex-best friend!"
(Y/n): [Mutters] "I was your best friend?"
Panda: "THE PAIN! Oh...Oh...The pain!"
(Y/n): "Uh...What's going on right now?"
Maki: "Forget about him. He's just being dumb."
"THE PAIN!"
It seemed the pain for Panda was never-ending. Simply left to endure it all. All the while I was left as confused as the day I was born. Nevertheless, I continued with breakfast and hoped things would look up for me later. However, of course, things were destined to be otherwise. Especially with the fact Nobara seemed still focused on the fact I suddenly changed seats.Little did any of us know what was going down as we ate breakfast this morning, however...
[3rd Person POV]
Log: --July 2018--
West Tokyo City: --Eishuu Juvenile Dtention Centre--
In the sky above the exorcise yard...
Inmate #1: "Hey! Do you see that?"
Inmate #2: "What is that?"
Inmate #3: "What? I don't see it?"
Unnamed Apparition of Potential Special Grade. It's cursed womb was witnessed by several non-jujutsu sorcerers.
Inmate #1: "That up there! Looks like an egg!"
In these early hours of the day, a Special Grade Curse Egg was spotted in the sky. With a clear orange substances, the giant body of the Special Grade curse inside could be seen by a few inmates standing below. Due to the emergency nature, four Jujutsu High First-Years were dispatched to the scene...And two died.
--Later That Day--
[Your POV]
Dark grey errie skies. Soft rain falling from the heavens above. The sense of death and destruction in the air. This...was all...
(Y/n): "SO AWESOME! FINALLY! My first proper mission back as a sorcerer and I get a badass case with a curse womb?! This is so cool!!!"
Unfortunately, whereas I celebrated this news. The others, consisting of Nobara, Megumi, Itadori, and Ijichi could only watch me do so in dismay.
Nobara: "Does he even have any idea what's going on right now?"
Megumi: "Who knows? But at least he's excited I guess."
Ijichi: [Sighs] "Every day I'm reminded how he and Gojo are related..."
Megumi: "Mr Ijichi. Can you fill us in with the situation?"
(Y/n): [Turns around] "Yeah! Give us the deets! So I know how exactly of a badass I have to be to save the day!"
Ijichi: "Um...Okay. Let's see. Our window verified the curse womb three hours ago. Once 90 percent were successfully evacuated, they made the call to seal off the centre. Citizens within a 500-meter radius have been evacuated as well."
Itadori: [Raises hand] "Uh, Mr Ijichi? Question. What's a 'window' here?"
Ijichi: "A window is a member of Jujutsu High who can see curses. They aren't sorcerers though. Normally they lack the skills to become such."
Itadori: "Oh...So like you?"
Ijichi: "ACK!" [Thoughts] "He said that so calmly!"
Itadori could only tilt his head in confusion upon seeing the strange face offered to him by Ijichi. Though, Nobara was quick to rectify this by swinging her hand over the back of Itadori's head.
Nobara: "You idiot! Were you never taught manners?"
Itadori: "Ow! What'd you hit me for?"
Nobara: "Stop being dumb or I'll hit you again!"
Ijichi: "No. No. Please. It's okay. Let's...Just continue." [Clears throat] "Detainee Block 2. At present, five detainees remain there with the curse womb. If this curse womb is the type that metamorphoses, we predict it will become a special grade cursed spirit."
This was the part where I dropped my smile momentarily.
(Y/n): "Wait. What? Special grade..."
Megumi: "Not very surprising."
Nobara: [Sighs] "Of course this had to happen today."
Itadori: [Leans over and whispers] "Hey, so...I still don't really know what 'special grade' means."
(Y/n): "Don't worry. It's rather simple. I like to remember it like this..." [Coughs] "Grade four, a wooden bat will make it sore! Grade three, a gun will make you rest at ease. Grade two, have a shotgun and it'll be a home run! Grade one, even a tank won't get rid of the stank! And Special Grade, well...I, uh...I don't really have something that ryhmns for that one sorry."
All I could do was nervously chuckle as I scratched the back of my head, all the while Megumi and Nobara narrowed their eyes at me.
Ijichi: "Allow me to assist with the last one. Pretty much, Itadori, even if you had a carpet bomb, even then it'd only be level footing."
Itadori: "Oh...That's not good."
Megumi: "It isn't. Normally a Jujutsu Sorcerer on par with the cursed spirit would take on the mission. On a day like today, that's be Gojo."
Itadori: "Oh..." [Looks around] "So where is Gojo?"
(Y/n): "Away on business."
Itadori: [Turns to you] "Huh? Really?"
(Y/n): "Yeah. He's doing 'Gojo things' whatever the crap that means." [Mutters] "Dude doesn't tell me anything..."
Itadori: "...I see."
Ijichi: "Unfortunately we always short-handed in this business. Fortunately for you, (Y/n) is with you."
(Y/n): "Hahaha! Fuck yeah!"
Ijichi: [Blankly stares at you] "Please don't swear..."
(Y/n): "Huh? Oh, right."
Itadori: [Smiles brightly] "That's right! (Y/n)'s really powerful! He defeated that curse at the school with ease!"
Nobara: "Really?"
Itadori: "Yeah! You should have seen it!"
He said with enthusiasm unlike any other as he bounced up and down. Honestly, it was rather sweet to see. Of course, when Nobara turned to me with a smile following hearing this, I had to play off the scene cool by rubbing my nails against my school uniform.
(Y/n): "What can I say? I'm just me...Or, I guess you could say, I'm just him~"
Itadori: [Sparkles in eyes] "Wow~ (Y/n) is so amazing~"
(Y/n): "Ha! Ha! Ha! Yes...Yes, I am."
Nobara: [Smirks] "Well then, (Y/n). If you're so amazing, I guess that means we've gotta stick pretty close together, huh~"
(Y/n): "Huh? Oh, yeah, I guess we sho--"
"I hate you."
Immediately the words, and the glare, of Maki suddenly struck my brain, as if she could tell this moment was happening decided to do this telepathically to stop anything from happening. When I realized such I turned back to Nobara to see her pushing up against my side slightly with a smile on her face. Immediately my face spawned a shocked expression from everything going on. I had to think quickly. So, before Nobara could touch me, I suddenly pounced back and immediately pulled Itadori's body in front of me, as if to block the path between Nobara and I.
(Y/n): "I-I call being close together with Itadori!"
Nobara: [Raises eyebrow] "Huh?"
Itadori: [Whispers to self] "...Yes."
He whispered softly as he pumped his fist. As for Nobara, she just continued to look on in confusion. This caused the overly confident Itadori to lean his head over with a grin.
Itadori: "Don't worry, it's okay. Just because (Y/n) and I are best friends. I'm sure you'll get your--"
Nobara: "Get the hell...OUT OF MY FACE!!!"
Without hesitation, Nobara shoved Itadori backward. He was about to bump into me, but I simply effortlessly stepped to the side to avoid it. Though, instead of letting him stumble backwards to the ground, without looking, I reached out and grabbed the hoodie part of his uniform to keep him hovering inches from the ground. I continued to hold it as I nervously chuckled at Nobara.
(Y/n): "Haha! Come on, guys. Don't fight...We've got a mission to handle here."
Nobara: [Crosses arms] "Hmm!"
(Y/n): [Sighs] "Why is my life like this?"
Ijichi: [Coughs] "As I was saying...This current case, is an abnormal one, and yet most urgent. Do not fight under any circumstances. No matter what."
(Y/n): "WHAT?! No fighting? But...But I'm awesome now! I can totally handle this!"
Ijichi: "That might be so, (Y/n). But we all would much rather that little attention is brought to you all. So the higher-ups have ordered that this simple mission for you all is verification and rescue of survivors. So, please, listen to your fears. In the end, your options are either to run, or die."
As soon as Ijichi finished his sentence a wave of frozen hesitation washed over all four of us. However, whereas Nobara, Megumi, and Itadori were left such due to the matter of potentially dying. I was left this way because of another part of Ijichi's sentence that resonated with me. 'Please, listen to your fears'. I don't know why it hit me so hard. Probably because for the longest time now I've focused on ignoring my fears and just jumping right into the action.
But now someone was telling me straight to the face that I should listen to my fears. But...I wouldn't listen. I may have come to terms recently about being myself, but that doesn't mean I will let the fear of everything back into my life. No! I'm still me, but I'm a better me. One that won't get held back my fear or any kind of thing such like it. So I'll go into this building, I'll rescue anyone I find, and if I find a curse...I'll show it and everything else that wants to hurt the people I care about just what it's like to have cursed potential.
[3rd Person POV]
It was with this newfound determination that the group of Ijichi and the Jujutsu High students began walking over toward the entrance of the juvenile centre. However, about halfway was when the group suddenly stopped, when the sound of a crying woman called out from behind.
"Excuse me! Excuse me, where's Tadashi?!"
Itadori: "Huh?"
Upon turning around, Itadori, along with everyone else, was greeted by the sight of the aforementioned crying woman, desperately trying to get passed a few suited men similarly dressed like Ijichi. Of course, she wasn't able to get past. But that didn't stop her from calling out to the group heading toward the building.
"Please! My son...My son Tadashi! Is he alright?"
The sound of the woman was soon overshadowed by more suited men who gathered around her to stop her from getting any closer to the building. The sight alone caused a horrified look to spawn on Itadori's face. However, he was unable to convey his feelings anymore as the new to enter the building grew more with each passing the second.
Ijichi: [To the woman] "Please stay back, ma'am. There is a potential of poisonous gas being let out near the building. That is all the information we can share at the moment."
"But...But my son..."
Her words fell to silence not long after as she dropped to her knees and began to cry. Such a scene even managed to affect the likes of (Y/n) and Nobara. But the group hung strong. Though the disappointment of Itadori continued to carry over within his spirit as the group took the final steps toward the entrance of the building courtyard. Upon opening it, the students were greeted by a dark void. The last thing (Y/n) saw before walking through, as he did, the voice of Ijichi, who remained outside, echoed in the background.
"Emerge from darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure."
Those words immediately caused (Y/n) to pause as if a jolt of energy washed over his body. He would have wondered what it could have been, though he eventually put it down to the flashback he got of his Mother, who said those exact same words when he was younger. However, what was interesting, that (Y/n) didn't know. Was that when Ijichi said those exact words, a few seconds later, he looked over his shoulder at an unexpecting (Y/n), who returned to entering the void after being comforted by Nobara.
A sigh was all that left the older man's lips as the doors to the juvenile centre shut tight. Meanwhile, the void that was previously present disappeared from the view of (Y/n). Upon opening his eyes, he was greeted by the inner courtyard of the juvenile centre. It was a lot like outside, with a view of the sky and outer world as the pair walked along the lone footpath toward the entrance of the building itself. However, it wasn't long before Itadori sprung a smile and looked up to the sky as the curtain set by Ijichi finally began to form.
Itadori: "It's becoming night! Wow!"
(Y/n): "Haha! It's just a veil, Itadori."
Itadori: "A veil...?"
Itadori questions as he scratches his chin and looks to the sky. As he does, a thought bubble of a veil appears. Of course, the only thing that came to mind were the white veils brides wore at weddings. The thought of such brought comfort to Itadori, who giggled silently as Nobara narrowed her gaze and Megumi just stared blankly before sighing.
Megumi: "There's a residential area nearby, so this barrier conceals us from the outside world."
Itadori: "Oh...That's incredible!"
Nobara: [Blankly stares at Itadori] "Ignorant."
(Y/n): "Haha! Funny!"
Nobara: [Blankly stares at you] "Also ignorant."
But (Y/n)'s response to such a message was simply looking over his shoulder, closing his eyes, and smiling in a goofy manner. Such was enough to make Nobara advert her gaze elsewhere as a slight blush crossed her cheeks. (Y/n) didn't notice such, however, as he was already ahead of the group, dashing toward the doorway that'd led into the actual building of the juvenile centre. Upon reaching the doorway, (Y/n) stopped, turned around, and smiled at the group as his hands landed on his waist.
(Y/n): "Alright! Everyone ready for some fun?"
Megumi: "This isn't supposed to be fun."
Itadori: [Raises hand] " Oh! Oh! I am! YES! I am!"
Megumi: "Don't say that."
Nobara: "This is fun to you?"
(Y/n): "Well, duh! I was trapped away for three years with nothing to do! That was boring as heck!"
Nobara: "Huh...Fair enough."
As Nobara accepted the fact, Megumi proceeded to bring his palms together and formed the shape of a dog's head with his fingers and hands. It seemed off at first, until his next set of words came.
Megumi: "Demon dogs!"
At that exact moment, the shadow behind Megumi began to expand. A few short seconds later, a white dog that more so resembled a wolf appeared out from the shadows. A loud howl offered, causing the eyes of everyone else to turn to the creature. Immediately, Itadori's eyes sparked with excitement.
Itadori: "Ah! A cute doggy!"
Megumi: "He'll let us know if the curse gets close."
Itadori: "Oh, I see." [Crouches down and pets the dog] "Good boy, good boy! We're counting on you, okay?"
Meanwhile, next to Megumi, (Y/n) suddenly pops in from the side with an excited look of his own. Sparkles filled his eyes.
(Y/n): "Wow, Megumi-kun! You can summon Shikigami's?"
Megumi: "Yeah?"
(Y/n): "Cool! I can do something like that too!"
Megumi: "Ok--Wait. What?"
Before Megumi could get an answer, however, (Y/n) was quick to showcase exactly what he meant. And he did so by crouching down, placing a hand on the cold concrete ground of the footpath, and closed his eyes.
(Y/n): "Cursed technique...Number twelve... 'Curse Summon'."
For a moment, silence fell on the surrounding area. That was until the shadows of not only (Y/n), but Megumi, Nobara, and Itadori all came together to form one giant circle made up of the collected shadows. And for good reason, a few seconds after a giant figure began to be summoned from the realm of shadows. With each moment that passed, the eyes of everyone watching grew by an inch, until they could be expanded no more. Not that it mattered, for only a few seconds later, they were greeted by the sight of what (Y/n) had just summoned.
Itadori: "Another doggy!"
Immediately Itadori pounced from Megumi's Shikigami, to (Y/n)'s cursed dog, bringing it into a hug. All the while, (Y/n) watched with a smile as Megumi questioned what just happened.
Megumi: "Wait. You just used a curse technique, right? Then how is this a Shikigami?"
(Y/n): "Because it's not. It's a curse."
Nobara: "What? A curse? But...How?! Aren't we supposed to fight these things?"
(Y/n): "Normally, yeah. But I have control over it."
Megumi: "You have control over a curse, how?"
(Y/n): [Nudges shoulders] "I dunno. When I was trapped in the void, I just could one day." [Chuckles] "But don't worry. This isn't even the coolest form this guy can take. Ain't that right, boy?"
No response came from the cursed dog, other than a simple lick to Itadori's cheek, causing him to laugh. However, whereas (Y/n) and Itadori seemed fine with this revelation, and Nobara was willing to look past it. Megumi was left questioning and concerned at how (Y/n) could control a curse. Nevertheless, he didn't bring it up. Instead, the two dogs began to lead the way as the group entered the actual building of the Juvenile Centre in search of anyone left behind. However, they were only given a few steps before the witnessed the interior of this strange building.
From orange-tinted lights that seemed to be all over the place. To endless hallways and dark corridors. All seemed to be separate, and yet together. But the thing that brought the group to an abrupt stop was when they all looked up to the roof of the building...To see no roof. Instead, it seemed like a labyrinth with more hallways and large pips going off in multiple directions. To put it plainly, it was like the inside and outside of the building were moulded together to form a new creation. At the very top, a void of complete darkness stopped them from seeing anymore from their current position.
Nobara: "What...What is this?"
Itadori: [Scratches head] "That's odd. The building didn't look like this from the outside..."
Nobara: "OF COURSE IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THIS FROM THE OUTSIDE, IDIOT! CLEARLY SOME FUCKIN' SHIT IS GOING ON!"
She screamed without remorse in the face of Itadori, who just stared at her blankly before finally responding.
Itadori: "Oh..." [Smiles goofingly] "You're right."
Nobara: [Mutters] "I will fucking crush you beneath my foot."
Itadori: [Turns to you] "So what exactly is going on? This some sort of two-story dorm?"
(Y/n): "Nah. I think it's a maisonette."
Megumi: "You're both wrong."
(Y/n)/Itadori: "Huh?"
The pair sounded as they glanced to Megumi, who looked up toward the void and the rest of this mish-mashed interior.
Megumi: "It's not a two-story dorm, or a maisonette. It's the deployment of an innate Domain due to cursed energy. But it's my first time seeing one this big."
Itadori: "And that is, exactly?"
Megumi: "What I mean is, whereas curse users can construct cursed domains--"
(Y/n): "Like me?"
Megumi: "Yes...Like you. But whereas someone like (Y/n) needs to activate them, this type of domain is naturally spawning. Which means--" [Sudden shock] "--The door!"
Without a moment of explanation, Megumi suddenly twists his body and turns around. However, in doing so, he and everyone else, comes to realize that any sign of the dog was now gone completely. Nothing but a black void was left behind them.
Itadori: "Th-The doors gone!"
Nobara: "How?! We just came in through here, didn't we?"
Nobara begins cutely bouncing up and down whilst Itadori nods in head, as if all the life within him was taken away. The pair proceeded to walk around in circles questioning what they should do when they were given some relief when the sound of (Y/n)'s laughter filled the air.
(Y/n): "Haha! Don't worry guys, the dogs remember the scent of the entrance. So they'll be able to bring us back if we need to."
Nobara/Itadori: "Oh, my~"
For the next minute or so, Nobara and Itadori went about patting the two dogs with various amounts of joy in their system. Clearly, they were happy that they weren't completely lost. Nevertheless, the matter of finding the people inside was still at hand. So for the next twenty minutes, silence surrounded the group of Jujutsu High students as they travelled through endless tunnels with familiar backgrounds. All the while, the two constructed dogs led the way. It was during this time that (Y/n) walked with a smile plastered across his face whilst his hands found comfort in his uniform pockets.
As they did, (Y/n) processed which of his cursed techniques would be best when they eventually found the curse. Currently, he was stuck between choosing number 16 or number 22. Both were effective, but which did he want to go for first? He was struggling to come to a conclusion when out of nowhere he felt a pair of slender arms suddenly embrace his own. Such was caused by Nobara tripping over nothing to suddenly fall into the side of the unsuspecting male. It was in this process that Nobara took the chance to grab at (Y/n)'s arm to give her leverage.
Nobara: "Oh! Sorry, (Y/n)! I didn't mean to do that so suddenly."
(Y/n): "Oh...That's...Okay."
Honestly, (Y/n) didn't really know what to say. Instead, he chose to keep things simple in the hopes that Nobara would eventually let go and continue walking. But she didn't keep walking. Instead, Nobara remained where she was, her hands still wrapped around (Y/n)'s own. It seemed Nobara was taking the chance to 'feel (Y/n) up' in a way. Her eyes shutting slightly as she pressed her forehead against his arm slightly as she did so.
Nobara: "Wow, (Y/n). You're really strong." [Looks up at you] "When did you say you worked out?"
(Y/n): "Um...I didn't?"
Nobara: [Smiles] "Oh, silly me!"
The smile never left Nobara's lips even as she spoke. Though, whilst she did eventually let go of (Y/n)'s arm, allowing him to resume walking once more. Nobara made certain to stick by his side. At first, it seemed fine. But (Y/n) grew a nervous feeling inside with each passing second, knowing how Maki felt earlier in the day. However, he couldn't just tell Nobara to get lost.
She had technically done nothing wrong. She didn't know (Y/n) and Maki were dating, and (Y/n) would always accept a friend when on offer. Even so, he was fearful that something would come up to send things sideways quickly. But, as long as everything remained nice and quiet like it was now, he was sure everything would be A-O--
Nobara: "(Y/n), can I ask you a question?"
(Y/n): [Thoguhts] "...Shit." [Out loud] "Um, sure. What's up, Nobara?"
Nobara: "Nothing much. Just wanted to talk about the second years at school."
(Y/n): "Oh? Is that..." [Gulps] "...So?"
(Y/n) didn't know what was more terrifying. The matter at hand of what Maki would do to him if he screwed this up, or the fact that Nobara was saying all this whilst looking around the room and letting her hands rest behind her back, like she KNEW what she was getting (Y/n) into. Nevertheless, (Y/n) couldn't say anything else before Nobara suddenly reverted her gaze back to him.
Nobara: "Yeah, I mean. They're a strange bunch, right?" [Turns to you and smiles] "I mean, one's a literal Panda, I don't know how long it took me to actually process that last night. I'm not even sure I fully did yet."
(Y/n): [Slunches forward] "Yeah..."
Nobara: "And then there was that Inumaki guy. Boy, he could only say strange words one after the other. I know for sure I haven't fully processed that yet."
(Y/n): [Slunches further forward] "Yeah..."
Nobara: "And then there was that last person...what was her name again?" [Tapping chin repeatedly] "Manki? Monki? Ma-Maki! Yeah, that's right! Maki was her name!"
(Y/n): [Blushes slightly] "Um...I-It sure is."
A sudden cough was quick to escape (Y/n)'s lips afterwards. As for Nobara, she just continued to walk silently beside (Y/n) until out of nowhere she turned her eyes back to the male. Such a sudden reaction caused (Y/n) to abruptly stand up straighter than he ever had before.
Nobara: "What do you think about her?"
(Y/n): "W-Who? Maki? Oh, her...She's um..." [Nudges shoulders and chuckles] "She's alright, I guess..."
Nobara: "Hmm. You know, for being the only girl here before I showed up. She's rather pretty, don't you think?"
(Y/n): "Pretty?! What? I never--I mean, I wouldn't...Hehe..."
Nobara: "What? You don't think she's pretty?"
(Y/n): "I, uh--" [Coughs] "I never said that...I mean! Pfft...Please! Wh-Why ask me such a question? That's like asking a guy if he finds his sister hot!"
Nobara: "Oh..."
The single word was all that came from her lips before Nobara returned her gaze to the ground. All the while (Y/n) struggled to wonder if this was the right thing to say. However, he was given very little peace before Nobara quickly shifted her focus back to the boy walking beside her.
Nobara: "That's a little surprising, to be honest. Because I actually thought you two were dating or something."
(Y/n): [Suddenly turns to her] "WHAT?! I-I mean...Why would you think that?"
Nobara: "I don't know. Just seemed obvious." [Turns and smiles] "So just so I'm clear on it. You two aren't dating?"
(Y/n): "Uh..."
"I do! I do...I mean, you just got back, and I can't deal with people like Gojo and Panda teasing me about it all the time. And if my family found out I'm dating someone, they'd just use it as an excuse for me to remain at being a grade-four sorcerer."
Before he could speak, the words of Maki once more rang through his ears. This time, it was of the moment they shared earlier this very morning, where Maki told him about how much she wanted to tell people, but felt she couldn't because of her family. It was with this thought that a contradicting outcome was brought toward him. On one hand, he could tell Nobara and completely go against what Maki had wanted, but also save anything awkward coming up between Nobara and him. Or, he can say they weren't dating, keeping Maki's wishes intact.
However, doing that could leave something open between Nobara and (Y/n). Now, (Y/n) still wasn't fully convinced that Nobara liked him. But if she did, then outright saying he wasn't with Maki would give her false hope, and (Y/n) really didn't want to do that. Nevertheless, he didn't exactly want to do either option. There seemed to be no proper outcome that could 100% go his way. He was basically being pulled in two directions at once and with the hovering eyes from Nobara still focused on him, he didn't exactly have it an easier. Yet, in the end, he went with the only option he thought had a better chance of ending well.
(Y/n): "Maki and I are...not dating."
Nobara: "Really?"
(Y/n): "Uh...Yeah. We're, um...We're not dating."
Nobara: "Oh...Cool!" [Smiles at you] "I mean, I'm a little surprised. You two seemed pretty close."
(Y/n): "Oh? That! Haha. Nah. We're just, um...Best buds! Yeah!" [Thoughts] "...Best buds that sometimes shove our tongues into the other's throat. Those kind of buds..."
Nobara: "Alright. Hey, on a completely different note...Wanna hang out Friday?"
(Y/n): "H-Huh?!"
Just when (Y/n) thought things may have done exactly the opposite of what he thought and came out on a cleaner note, the young boy was given quite the shock when Nobara suddenly stated such. His head quickly turning toward her as a smile found way to her lips.
Nobara: "Yeah, I mean, there's a few movies showing at this really cool cinema in Tokyo, and..." [Blushes, rubs fingers together] "I was kinda thinking about going to see one...or two..." [Jumps slightly and smiles] "And then I thought I might as well ask you! But...I didn't want to ask if you and Maki were a thing. Because I know how girls can get when you do stuff like that."
Nobara seemed to know the 'stuff' quite well, going off the way she chuckled to herself. Meanwhile, with (Y/n), he was left speechless.
Nobara: "Besides, there's also the stuff about Saori that I told you..." [Smiles up at you] "So we're still gotta find out where she is, right?"
If (Y/n) was speechless before, he now found an entire new meaning to it. It didn't help that Nobara was offering him the most adorable smile right now, besides, he did kinda promise to help her find her friend. And, whilst it was with good intentions, and before either he or Maki started dating, he still questioned what Maki would say if she found out that (Y/n) would be hanging out with Nobara...alone.
--Situation #1: Normal Maki--
(Y/n): "Maki, look...I know we're dating now. But see--haha--this funny thing happened before we started dating and...Basically I promised Nobara that I would kinda help her find her childhood friend whose somewhere in the city."
Maki: "Nobara? The new girl? You want to hang out with her? Alone? Even though I'm your girlfriend?"
(Y/n): "Haha. Maki, come on...Just because I'm helping her doesn't mean anything, really. I'm just helping a friend!"
Maki: "Helping a friend? Like how you helped me that one time clean up the dishes after Panda decided to eat 24 separate midnight snacks, this sealing the moment I fell in love with you?"
(Y/n): "Wait...What? That was when you fell in love with me? Because I helped you do the dishes? That's it?"
Maki: "That doesn't matter! Die now!"
The final thing (Y/n) saw was the dark silhouette of Maki leaning over him with the blade of her weapon shimmering in the light. The sound of (Y/n)'s screams continued to echo through the air...
--Situation #2: Yandere Maki--
(Y/n): "Look...Maki. I know this is sudden, and we've only just started dating. But...Would it be okay if I spent some time with Nobara to go around the city to help find her childhood friend?"
Maki: "You...You want to spend time alone with...another girl?"
Maki made sure to say the words separately and very slowly. Her face carried a smile, though (Y/n) knew better than to fall for its false hopes.
(Y/n): "Haha. Look, Maki, everything will be fine. She just wanted to go to the cinemas to see if--"
Maki: "You're going to see a movie without me? You're girlfriend? But I thought you liked me?"
(Y/n): "I do. I do. But I kinda promised her I'd--"
Maki: "Do you not like me, (Y/n)? Do I bore you?"
(Y/n): "What? No--"
Maki: "Have you had enough of me already? Am I last weeks news to you? Do you not care now that I have given you my heart. Yet this fresh meat is more appealing to you?"
(Y/n): "Maki! Seriously. I don't mean anything bad, I--"
Maki: "Hehe...Don't mean anything bad? Hehe...That's okay, (Y/n)...I don't mean anything bad by this either."
Before (Y/n) could say anything else, the dark silhouette of Maki leaning over him with the blade of her weapon shimmering in the light.
(Y/n): "M-Maki? What are you doing?"
Maki: "That doesn't matter! Die now!"
The sound of (Y/n)'s screams continued to echo through the air...
--Situation 3: Crying Maki--
(Y/n): "Maki, look, I just wanted to--"
Maki: [Vigerous crying] "Why! Why are you breaking up with me?!"
(Y/n): "W-What? I...I never said--"
Maki: [Whilst crying] "Then why else would you ask to speak to me alone if you weren't going to break up with me?"
(Y/n): "No. Maki. I would never. I was just--"
Maki: [Whilst crying] "Am I not good enough for you? Am I...Am I?!"
(Y/n): "Maki. No, Please. S-Stop...Just stop crying, okay? I promise you--"
Before (Y/n) could say anything else, the crying silhouette of Maki leaning over him with the blade of her weapon shimmering in the light.
Maki: [Whilst crying] "That doesn't matter! Die now!"
All that could be heard were the sounds of (Y/n)'s screams echoing in the air...Along with Maki's crying. As for (Y/n), his face was left pale at the various outcomes that appeared before him. He was only brought back to reality by the voice of Nobara.
Nobara: "So? (Y/n)? Wanna hang out Friday?"
(Y/n): "O-Oh...Um...I-I would...But, um...I-I can't. I, uh...I'm busy, yeah!"
Nobara: "Oh..."
(Y/n): "Yeah. Sorry." [Nervously chuckles] "O-Otherwise I would..."
Nobara: [Smiles] "That's alright! What about Saturday?"
(Y/n): "Oh! U-Uh...I'm busy then as well..."
Nobara: "Sunday?"
(Y/n): "I'm busy..."
Nobara: "Monday?"
(Y/n): "Busy..."
Nobara: "Tuesday?"
(Y/n): "Busy..."
Nobara: "Wednesday?"
(Y/n): "Busy again...Sorry..."
Again and again the process repeated until Nobara decided to take a different approach.
Nobara: "Well, when are you not busy?"
(Y/n): "Uh, I'm...not...sure? Uh, yeah! I'm not sure! Sorry! Because I'm...busy...Um..."
Frantically (Y/n) began looking around for an excuse. His eyes shifted from the things in front of him. From Megumi, to Megumi's Shikigami, to (Y/n)'s cursed wolf, until finally he landed on the perfect excuse. The next thing anyone knew, (Y/n) had his arm wrapped around Itadori's neck, holding him close as the confused boy looked around in, well...Confusion.
(Y/n): "I'm busy helping Itadori get a girlfriend."
Itadori: [Gasps in excitement] "What?! You are?!"
(Y/n): "Uh...Yeah."
Nobara: "Really?"
She asks with a hand on her hip and a raised eyebrow.
(Y/n): "Yep! I'm helping Itadori because he is...bad with women."
Itadori: [Nods repeatedly] "It's true. They often end up punching me on the head."
Nobara: "STOP BEING A MORON!"
Nobara shouts before punching Itadori on the head. Such leaves the confused male rubbing the top of his head whilst Nobara turns to (Y/n).
Nobara: "Well...When will you be free?"
(Y/n): "Uh...Um...Ugh..."
(Y/n) didn't really know what to say. Everything was just happening so fast that he was lost for what words to use. He didn't want to upset Nobara, yet he also didn't want to do anything to hurt Maki. In the end, he decided the best way to end the conversation...Was with a distraction! And that distraction came by (Y/n) picking up a stone and throwing it into the distance. The collision with the ground bringing out an echo in the distance.
(Y/n): "O-Oh...What's that? A sudden noise? I better go investigate! I'll, um...I'll get back to you on that question, Nobara!"
And with that (Y/n) raced off, leaving Nobara as confused as ever. She was left to watch (Y/n) run away, in silence. Of course, it didn't remain that way for long as the sight of Itadori's grinning face slowly leaning into frame could be seen. As he did, he began to raise his hands. With one hand having a single finger up, whilst the other had none.
Itadori: "Itadori one! Nobara...Zero!" [Chuckles] "Don't worry. I'll be sure to tell you when (Y/n) and I are done hangin--"
PUNCH! SLAM! CRUSH!
A few seconds later, Itadori was left lying on the ground ith a bunch of bruises and scratch marks over his face. A noticeable lump forming at the top of his head as Nobara stomped away.
Itadori: "...Argh...Why does this keep happening to me?"
No response came, and it remained that way for some time. It was during that time, that the group continued searching for any survivors. But so far, they came up with nothing. That was until they the group eventually reached a room that seemed to be an old sewage area.
Glass tiles made up the floor and walls. A rather bleak environment to be found in. That feeling only grew further when Itadori suddenly began running away from the group. Immediately, confusion surrounded the faces of the others, who were seconds away from questioning Itadori on what he was doing. However, they didn't need to. Not long after, Itadori came to a sudden stop on the far side of the room, where a mutilated corpse could be seen on the ground leaning against the wall.
However, upon closer inspection, it was much worse. Whilst there was one body leaning against the wall, anything from the waist below were nowhere to be seen. Whilst next to it, another body could be seen. However, this corpse had somehow been moulded into a fully functional circle. It would appear more like a ball, if it weren't for the noticeable sighting of hands and a head. Not far away, a similar sight could be seen. Both of which were drained of life by the curse that caused such horrifying scenes. As for Itadori, all he could do was look down at the sight as the others slowly neared from behind, before eventually stopping themselves.
(Y/n): "Poor things."
Nobara: "Atrocious."
Megumi: "That's...Three people, right?"
Itadori didn't respond. Instead, he proceeded to get down on a knee and shifted a bit of the clothing near the shoulder blowing to the corpse that still resembled a human, well, from the stomach up anyway. But in doing so, Itadori was greeted by a horrifying discovery. The name of the person revealed to be...
(Y/n): "Okazaki...Tadashi?"
Confusion remained with (Y/n) momentarily, until his eyes widened upon the sudden discovery. At the exact same time, Itadori did the same.
"Please! My son...My son Tadashi! Is he alright?"
The voice of the woman outside rang through the ears of everyone present upon this revelation. The sorrow the mother felt beforehand, would surely only worsen now. But even with the group knowing this, they didn't know what to do. That was until the voice of Itadori sounded them back to reality.
Itadori: "Let's take this body back."
(Y/n): "Huh?"
Itadori: "This is that lady's son, right? We couldn't save him, the least we could do is bring the rest of him back so she can have a proper burial."
Nobara: "But..."
Itadori: "His mother won't accept it if we tell her he's dead, but we don't have the body."
It was as soon as Itadori's words were finished that (Y/n) was abruptly shoved to the side. Seconds later, Itadori was pulled to his feet by the red hoodie that rested on his back. Immediately, both boys and Nobara turned to see Megumi was the cause. A look of completely blankness rested on his face.
Megumi: "We don't have time for that. We've still got to find and identify the others who were left in here. Leave the body behind."
Itadori: "Hey, quit joking around!"
(Y/n): "Y-Yeah, Megumi. There's no point to be rough..."
Megumi: [Turns to you] "I'm being smart. Dragging a body around would be a waste of strength."
Itadori: "But when we turned around before, the door was gone. There's no promise that we'll be able to come back here later!"
Megumi: "I didn't say come back for it! I said leave it behind!"
The voice of Megumi was quick to rise. Which was shocking to both (Y/n) and Nobara. All they could do was watch as Megumi tightened his grip on Itadori's hoodie.
Megumi: "I have no intention of risking my life to save someone I have no intention of saving in the first place!"
Nobara: "Megumi!"
(Y/n): [Shaking head] "Not cool, man."
Itadori seemed to think so as well, as without hesitation he spun his body around so that whilst Megumi still held onto his hoodie, Itadori was now grabbing at the crop of Megumi's uniform.
Itadori: "No intention of saving him?! What do you mean?!"
Megumi: "This is a Juvenile detention centre. Jujutsu sorcerers are allowed full access to all information about the scene beforehand. This Ozaka Tadashi hit a little girl on her way home from school whilst driving without a licence. It was his second offence without driving without a licence. I know you're stuck on saving people and guiding them to proper deaths.
Nobara: "Megumi, stop!" [Turns to you] "(Y/n), do something!"
She grabbed at his arm once more, but (Y/n) remained silent as he watched the scene. He could have easily intervened, but he didn't. Such left Nobara even more confused as Megumi continued.
Megumi: "But what are you going to do when someone you save kills someone in the future?!"
Itadori: "Then...Then why did you bother saving me?!"
Itadori's words left Megumi speechless. He couldn't say or do anything except for just stare into the eyes of Itadori. His face remained blank as Nobara decided to forget about (Y/n) doing something, and decided to do it herself as she began stomping over to the pair.
Nobara: "That's enough! Cut it out! Seriously, what are you two doing?! You're both idiots!" [Suddenly turns to you] "And you!"
(Y/n): "Huh?"
Nobara: "Seriously! When are you fre--"
Before Nobara could say anything, however, out of nowhere she suddenly fell through the ground. Which, was odd. The ground was solid concrete, (Y/n) could feel it right now. Yet, it seemed that a floor suddenly turned to mud or something. Or, to be more specific, a tangible black substance that suddenly sucked the only girl present into another realm. Neither (Y/n), Megumi, or Itadori could do anything before their eyes aligned on the spot where Nobara was just standing moments ago.
(Y/n): "Nobara? Where did she--"
A sudden thought of realization struck (Y/n). Without a second thought the boy launched off his feet, before pouncing into the air and diving head first into the dark ripple in the ground, disappearing without a second notice. Such a sight left Megumi shocked. But his focus was drawn elsewhere as he tried to process what was going on.
Megumi: [Thoughts] "How could this be happening? There's no way? How could...No...No way. Demon dogs should have sensed the curse! How could--"
Immediately his eyes were drawn towards the far corner of the room, where the skull of his demon dog could be seen embedded into the wall, as if the wall was thrown into the dog, not the other way around. Blood trickled from the dead animal's head as sweat formed on Megumi's face.
Megumi: "Itadori. We have to run! We'll leave Nobara to (Y/n), we need to--"
It was as he spoke, however, that suddenly he felt all sense of speaking was taken from him. Along with it, a lack of movement, no sense of direction. He felt...helpless. And Itadori was in the same boat. Neither one seemed able to move, and not long after they were given a reason why. Because somehow, some way, when Megumi and Itadori were preoccupied with arguing, the very thing they were warned to stay out of sight from could be seen inches away from their face.
Directly to the sides of both students, the curse womb, a special grade curse in of itself, could be seen towering over the pair. Neither one knew when it got there, nor how they didn't notice it. So whilst (Y/n) plunged deep into a dark void to rescued Nobara, Megumi and Itadori were left motionless next to the curse womb. Yet, all that was left in the minds of every single student that found themselves in this situation, was that this was no longer a simple search and rescue mission. To put it simply... It was a disaster.
--Meanwhile--
Outside the Juvenile detention centre, rain began to pour to the ground as the skies grew darker. As things processed inside, outside, Ijichi could be seen on the phone. And going off his facial expression, the people he was talking to were not easy going.
Ijichi: [On the phone] "Yes, sir, I understand that. But was it necessary to send (Y/n) in there with the veil up?"
"You know full well that that boy is far too dangerous, Ijichi. If he is even as remotely dangerous as we believe, a simple veil will be little to him."
Ijichi: "Yes..I realize that. But what of...The true purpose you brought him here?"
"What we decide to do is for a purpose. (Y/n) (L/n) is unlike any sorcerer we have met before, even stronger than Yuta Okkotsu...Wherever he is. The difference between those two, is that we have (Y/n) at our disposal. So why not send him in to deal with this cursed womb? To him, it's a simple mission unlike any other. But for those in the knowing...Including yourself...This is our way to protect the world..."
"...By having (Y/n) (L/n) die."

Now, there won't be any vote tally this week for a new chapter. BUT...I will try my best to get a chapter out within a week just to make up for the wait of this one. But even so, this book seems able to thrive even with a few weeks of WHICH IS INCREDIBLE! You all have seemed to get drawn to this book quite nicely, and as a writer, that's rather great to see.
Nevertheless, tally or not, it'd be great to see how the support on this chapter will go! The better it does, more words coming your way in the next chapter! Now, before we do go. This little arc of the Juvenile centre should only be three chapters in length, so two more left! And in it, trust me...You'll be able to see just how powerful the reader is!
