Sonakshi ran out the hallway in a hurry, disgusted, heartbroken and very very guilty! As she ran out, she bumped into a man. She looked up and was stunned. The man said, "Hi Sonakshi! Good to see you back."

"Iqbal bhai? Aap yahan?" Sonakshi was horrified.

Vicky/Iqbal was stunned; the color drained from his face. His voice cracked as he looked at her, "Sonakshi....tum?"

"Haan mein! Re...Rehaan kahan hai?" she hesitantly said his name for the first time, since he had come into her life.

Iqbal/Vicky looked around to make sure no one was watching or listening; he whispered, "please come to my office...I need to talk to you."

Sonakshi followed him as he shut the door behind, "please sit down Sonakshi....can I get you some water?"

Sonakshi's eyes were glistening with tears now, "Iqbal bhai! Answer my questions! Kahan hai wo? Aur unka Dev se kya relation hai? Are they brothers? Please I need to know!"

Vicky/Iqbal pulled a chair and sat across from Sonakshi, "Sonakshi.....mujhe tumse ek bahut zaroori baat karni hai...please meri baat dhyaan se suno......main tumhari acche ke liye yeh sab keh raha hoon."

Sonakshi wiped her tears and looked at him coldly, "aap ne toh hamesha hi sab ka accha chaaha hai...haina? Kabhi Rehaan ka, kabhi dadi ka....aur ab mera!" she said sarcastically.

"I know it is hard for you to believe me....but that is a fact.....well Sonakshi......Rehaan...Rehaan," Vicky fumbled for words, "Rehaan does not exist anymore!"

Sonakshi's world came to a standstill; the whole room was as if spinning around her; she caught Vicky by his collar and shook him vigorously, "kya kiya aapne unke saath? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" she was hysterical now.

Vicky/Iqbal just hung his head in shame, "Sonakshi...your anger is justified......but Rehaan is not real....he never existed......he was just an altered persona of Dev.......his alter ego.....his subconscious......his other personality!"

Sonakshi pulled her hands away from him and covered her mouth in disbelief, "kya kaha aapne? toh aapka matlab hai ki Rehaan ke saath maine jo maine time spend kiya wo sab jhoot tha? No Iqbal BHAI! I don't believe you! Aap mazaak kar rahe hain! Kahan hai wo? Aap kuch chupa rahe hain mujhse!" she yelled and got up from the chair.

Vicky helped her sit down and calmed her down, "please listen to me Sonakshi......Rehaan or Dev are the only family I have....he is like my younger brother.....why would I lie about him?.....Meri baat dhyaan se suno," and then Iqbal/Vicky told her everything.......Dev's childhood, how Ishwari kicked his beloved dadi out, how Dev's mom suppressed his love for music, how Dev went into severe childhood depression and came out of it only after Rehaan was born about 14 years ago.....how Iqbal became his shield and the connection between Dev and Rehaan's personality. Yes, Rehaan was very real for a lot of people, but in reality he was just a mere shadow of Dev, a shadow even Dev could never see.

Sonakshi's world came shattering down as Vicky/Iqbal unfolded the details of Dev's life one by one, "and you know Sonakshi.....just recently I have seen a change in Dev where he does not need Rehaan anymore....and the credit goes to your sister Samaira! I know, Dev and your sister have recently spent a lot of time together.........Dev is totally in love with her; she has changed him like no one ever has.....he is enjoying life now....I even caught him singing one of Rehaan's songs.....bas usse ek baar uski dadi se bhi milwaa doon.....bas Ishwari aunty ka darr hai....Phoophijaan ko tabhie maine kuch din ke liye Lucknow bhej diya hai."

Everything was falling into place now- Since she had seen him at the beach house for the first time; Sonakshi had been surprised at his unusual and weird behavior. She just ignored it to his forgetfulness and amnesia; she was so blind in his love and so crazy about him, that she never questioned why he did not remember his own house, forgot music, did not remember his beloved dadi and above all- called her Sonakshi? That was her biggest clue! Rehaan had always chosen to call her Samaira, even though he knew her real name. Sonakshi closed her eyes as she remembered how she had seduced him that first night- she was so desperate for Rehaan at that point that she chose to ignore the fact that he was someone else and belonged to someone else! She hated herself; she wanted to rewind the time and go back to that ill-fated rainy afternoon- if she had only controlled herself, she would have not betrayed her sister and Dev. Samaira had told her so many times that she loved Dev, and Dev probably mistook her for Samaira due to the name confusion and surrendered himself to her sister's passion instead! Sonakshi wanted to bury herself and not show her face to anyone or to herself ever.

"Sonakshi...main jaanta hoon ki yeh sab jaane ke baad tum bohot hurt ho dil, par yeh socho tumhari behen ke pyaar se mere dost, Dev ki zindagi hamesha ke liye sudhar gayi hai......Dev deserves to be happy like any one of us......socho bechare ne 14 saal apni zindagi kaise nikaali hai? Ek body mein do lives lead ki hain. You are lucky to have such a great sister....she has been the best thing that ever happened in his life......I hope you can forget Rehaan.....at least for your sister's sake and happiness if nothing else......you are young and beautiful....I am sure you will find someone who loves you as much as Dev loves your sister," Vicky pressed his hand on Sonakshi's and looked at her compassionately.

Sonakshi swallowed her tears and tried to smile, "Iqbal bhai....bas aap se ek question puchna hai."

Iqbal/Vicky looked at her guiltily, "haan Sonakshi....pooncho."

"Samaira ka naam Sonakshi kyon hai is office mein?" Sonakshi was cursing herself and Samaira both for swapping their names so casually all the time; little did she know that it could have such grave consequences.

Iqbal/Vicky chuckled and told her about Dev's obsession with names, "as a matter of fact, Dev knows me as Vicky and Razia as Elena....but at the rate his memory is coming back, I am sure he will soon accept us as we are.....as long as Samaira's love is in his life, I am sure it will not take long."

A heartbroken and crushed Sonakshi got up to leave, 'Iqbal bhai....I am sorry....maine aapko galat samjha.....ab samajh aaya ki aap mujhe unse door kyon rakhna chaahte the..." she wiped her tears and continued, "aap tension mat lijiye......aapke friend ko ab Rehaan ka suport kabhie nahin lena padega.......mujhe apni behen par poora vishwaas hai.....She might have come like a storm into Dev's life, but she will stay forever with him" she walked out of his office.

Vicky/Iqbal felt sorry for her, but he knew that someone had to tell her the truth at some point. She could not live her life in the hope that Rehaan would become hers forever. Vicky/Iqbal remembered that phoophijaan had warned him about this eventuality; he had kept Rehaan so protected and shielded from women, but his own affair with Razia had distracted him a little and exposed Rehaan to fall for someone, "ab main kya karta? Aur koi option bhi toh nahin tha."

Sonakshi walked with a heavy heart; she decided to go back to the police station and withdraw her complaint against Iqbal bhai and then make sure Samaira got back to work as soon as possible. She decided that she would never visit the beach house ever again; it did not belong to her, just like Dev belonged to someone else. She was most guilty about getting intimate with him, but there was no point telling Samaira about her mistake, her desperation, her biggest blunder of her life- she knew Samaira well, if she even got a hint of what had transpired between Dev and Sonakshi, she would move out of their way. Sonakshi could never betray her sister; especially now when she knew that Dev was crazy about Samaira, Sonakshi was just his illusion....his ignorance.....Samaira was his true love!

As she passed Samaira's cabin, she noticed a bouquet of roses on her desk with a little handwritten note. It was not her right to read the note, but she could not resist walking close to her desk, "PLEASE MARRY ME SONAKSHI!" the note read; it was the kind of response Samaira would love to see after coming back to work. Wasn't it ironical she thought that originally Dev's proposal had come for her and not Samaira! "Shayad meri kismat mein unka saath tha hi nahin.....Samaira, Dev always belonged to you....I am sorry, I tried to fulfill my selfish dreams through him......I am the worst sister in this world......I hope you can forgive me one day for my selfishness."

Sonakshi reached home with a traumatized heart; she put up a pleasant face when she saw Samaira dancing in their bedroom on this song:

If Sonakshi had any doubts about Dev's identity, they were soon shattered when she saw Samaira dancing with Dev's photograph and kissing it.

As the song finished playing on the CD, Samaira ran to Sonakshi and hugged her, "Dev just called me....he told me there is a surprise waiting for me on my desk.....I can't wait to go back to work."

Sonakshi looked at her sister affectionately and kissed her forehead, "kal se chali jaana......ab tujhe college jaane ki zaroorat nahin hai."

"Really? Kyon Rehaan ki problem solve ho gayi kya?" Samaira asked

"Haan," Sonakshi lowered her eyes as she tried to hide the cracks in her voice, "haan solve ho gayi Samaira," she looked up and smiled, "wo Lucknow shift kar gaye hain.....main bhi wahin jaa rahi hoon," Sonakshi lied and ran to the bathroom on the pretext of changing up. She shut herself inside and stood with her back against the door; she gradually slid down on the floor as streams of tears flowed relentlessly from her eyes. This was the first time in their lives that Samaira had not picked on Sonakshi's emotional state; Sonakshi had camouflaged her emotions very well that evening, Samaira had no idea that Sonakshi was a devastated woman and shattered soul that day.

Samaira realized what Sonakshi had just said. She knocked and banged on the bathroom door, "Sonakshi!Sonakshi! Tum mujhe chhod kar kahin nahin jaa sakti......no you are not moving to Lucknow....I will never let you move!"
