The different members had spread out throughout the bathroom, settling down for the night. It had been decided that they all just needed to stay put for the moment, at least until they got a better idea of what they were dealing with.
Mingi had been sitting alone but after watching Yeosang pace nervously for a while, had invited him to sit next to him, putting an arm over his shoulders.
"This fucking sucks," Yeosang sighed, trying to seem nonchalant but his darting eyes told a different story. He was really scared.
"Yeah. It does," Mingi replied, not wanting Yeosang to know his facade wasn't fooling anyone.
"I just want to know if everyone else is safe. You know? And the fans...I just can't believe this is happening. It doesn't even feel real."
"Yeah, I know. But remember that the rest of them have a lot more courage and brain cells than the two of us-me lacking the brain cells, you lacking the courage," Mingi quickly explained after Yeosang shot him an arched eyebrow.
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"So they'll be okay. I'm just thankful we snagged Jongho. There's no way those zombies will take him down. He could split their head open like an apple," Mingi smiled, demonstrating with a goofy performance, causing Yeosang to laugh and shake his head.
Mingi was pleased to see him feeling a bit better.
He glanced up and noticed Jongho looking over at them from the other end of the bathroom, a small smile forming on his lips as he watched them. Well-as he watched Yeosang. His eyes caught Mingi's and he quickly dropped his smile, turning away.
Mingi remembered the conversation he'd accidentally overheard earlier.
Thankfully a trip to the bathroom had helped him feel immensely better so he had been getting up to flush when the door opened and he paused, not expecting company.
He knew the other members would tease him for the smell if they knew he was there so he decided to wait a moment before making his presence known.
That was when he overheard their conversation. Jongho's...confession.
He knew he wasn't the brightest bulb but even he could understand that Jongho was being entirely serious. He liked Yeosang. And he even worked up the courage to tell him.
And Yeosang totally blew him off.
Like an absolute idiot.
Jongho had been ready to tell Yeosang before even knowing what had happened only a few moments later. And Yeosang had missed it completely.
So Mingi needed to tell him.
Even if he said no, at least Jongho would know. He couldn't imagine if something happened to one of them and they had to find out later...
If something bad happened to someone you cared about so deeply...without ever getting the chance to tell them how you really feel.
Mingi wiped a tear from his eye, not trying to make it personal. He was sure that Yunho was safe. He was one of the smartest people he'd ever known and he was certain Yunho could protect himself.
"Mingi...are you worried about Yunho?"
Mingi's face brightened a bit as he turned in surprise towards Yeosang.
"N-no-I mean of course but I'm worried about everyone!"
"I know you are. But...you two are so close. And I feel the same way about Wooyoung."
Mingi sighed, realizing Yeosang just thought he missed Yunho as a friend. He knew everyone always suspected there might be something more between them but he hated being accused of it. He loved their friendship so much, he didn't want Yunho to find out and make things awkward.
But now...it felt so stupid. He might not ever get the chance to tell him.
He pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind, wanting to focus on Jongho and Yeosang. He needed something to distract him and helping his friends always seemed to work, at least a little.
"Yeo, I just have to ask-do you...do you like Jongho?"
Yeosang stared at him, his face lightly flushed with color.
"What?"
"I'm just asking, do you?"
"Like as a person?"
Mingi sighed.
"No. Like do you have a crush on him?"
Yeosang's face grew redder.
"A-wh-where is this coming from!?"
"I heard you two talking earlier."
"When!? How is this related?"
"In the bathroom. When Jongho sort of...asked you out?"
Yeosang's eyes grew wide.
"He did what?"
Mingi stared at him.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes I'm serious! When the hell did he ask me out!?" Yeosang whispered, realizing he'd been drawing attention with his loud outbursts.
"Oh my god. You can be so stupid sometimes, hyung."
"Mingi-I swear I would've noticed if he asked me out!"
"Because you like him?" Mingi smirked.
"Wha-I didn't say that!"
"But you do," Mingi grinned and Yeosang stuttered for a moment before returning to the precious subject.
"When did he ask me out?"
"When he basically confessed his feelings for you."
Yeosang finally calmed down, sighing and leaning back, which was not the reaction Mingi was expecting.
"I see. You misunderstood. He was just doing that because Wooyoung put him up to it."
They both flinched a bit at the mention of their missing friend but after a pause of silence, Mingi spoke.
"You know he only said that because you gave him an out after you clearly didn't show any interest in him."
Yeosang froze.
"No, he was just kidding he-"
"You said that. All he did was agree."
Yeosang's eyes slowly grew wider.
"No-he-he didn't-he didn't mean-Jongho doesn't-how could Jongho ever-isn't Jongho straight?"
Mingi stared at him.
"That's the question you settled on?"
Yeosang just stared at him in disarray.
"Yeosang. He likes you. He meant it. You need to talk to him."
"You really think-he actually confessed his feelings for me!? That was real!?"
"Yeah. I don't think Jongho takes that kind of stuff lightly."
Yeosang fell back against the wall, grabbing his head.
"Fuck! I'm so stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" he groaned, hitting his head against the wall.
"Hey, it's okay. You've still got time. We're not going anywhere anytime soon," Mingi laughed but Yeosang shook his head.
"That's the problem!! If I try to go talk to him I'm just going to embarrass myself and then I'll be stuck in an awkward situation for who knows how long!"
"It won't be awkward. He literally already told you how he feels. Now you just need to tell him you feel the same way."
"See, but it's not that easy."
"It's like the easiest confession you could possibly make."
"But it's still a confession!"
"Look, I'm just saying...you don't know how much longer we have together. With everything going on out there...you might not get another chance to tell him."
Yeosang punched his shoulder, pouting.
"Don't say shit like that. Nothing's gonna happen to us."
"You don't know that."
Yeosang turned away, his eyes glancing over at Jongho.
Mingi looked down at his own hands, fiddling with the ring on his pinky.
He didn't know if Yunho was okay.
He might never know.
But he held on to hope. It was all he had.
