Note#1: Oh my god this one wasn't that good. I apologize if this was mediocre. Also wanted this to be tad bit shorter than the last one. I don't know if this is my laziness speaking up we may never know. Also there will be a second part to this oneshot.
Note#2: As usual all art credit goes to @KShadow and next up is Junjou Mistake then after that is either Egoist or Nostalgia.

Flashback: 2 days prior
Music burst forth from a speaker behind him as Shinobu tried yet failed to maneuver around the other party goers. How his friends convinced him to attend this thing will remain a cold case. How do people enjoy these sort of social outings? How do people not become either blind from the strobe lights, deaf from the 4 speakers in each corner or even both? The glare of the rapidly flashing lights caused him to run -bumping into some people- into what he thought to be a bathroom. As soon as the door was shut and locked, all the sounds of the outside world soon turned muffled which gave his ears a chance to recuperate. Through the muffled sounds of music, it was the cooing of a baby girl that caught his attention.
A small baby girl in an adorable fox onesie with large striking grey eyes much like his own, small chubby fingers and a smooth pudgy face. Looking up at her mother holding her, she looked...distressed. Like that baby was some sort of a mistake. But for some reason, the mother looked familiar. Soft black hair with bangs that framed her face perfectly with vibrant grey eyes and soft supple skin.
"Shinobu?" Her eyebrow cocked up seeing the young terrorist. Her normally soft tone of voice was now shadowed by light panic. Black rings decorated her eyes which screamed "I haven't slept in days." Perhaps she was her baby sister? If so, then why would she bring a baby of all people to a loud college party?
"Akira? What're you doing here?" He walked over to her being mindful not to wake up the baby. An exhausted smile stretched across her face seeing a friend of her ex lover which helped with the exhaustion of parenthood. She waved her hand before responding with "I couldn't miss this part-!" The feeling of the baby moving in her arms caused her to flinch and drastically lower her voice. "I couldn't miss the party, there weren't any babysitters for whatever reason and I ended up bringing Yui with me." She quietly chirped, sounding proud of herself.
"Yui?" His voice held inquiry.
The baby in her arms soon opened her eyes revealing the innocent grey irises of a healthy 3 month old baby. "Oh this is Yui. My daughter." Small enthusiastic cooing noises escaped her small mouth as her fingers flexed open and shut as a way of asking for food.
Wait daughter?! Has April fools unexpectedly come early? But she turned 19 a week prior, how on earth did he not notice? At first it's easy to hide the fact there's a baby growing inside of you but the next thing you know, your stomach increases in size and the chances of the student body finding out soon expands. From what he was able to pick up, the rumors are vicious. Most people would assume you did stupid things to become pregnant and the phsycial and mental exhaustion that is put apon you can be brutal. But for some reason, behind the initial shock, a small smile made its way to his lips seeing her adorable movements. 'Yui huh? A fitting name.'
"Hey...Shinobu, can you watch her while I go to the bathroom?" The request indeed caught him off guard, but for whatever reason, Yui's gaze and finger's turn to him as if he was her father smiling brightly at him. "Her bottle is in my bag if she starts crying. Thanks!" And with that, she happily jogged out of the room to the party outside leaving Shinobu and the grey eyed girl in his arms. He rocked her with care, that being the first thing that came to mind when it came to babies and it seemed to work as she squealed in happiness, her happiness seemed to be contagious as that same smile stretched on his face.
She started babbling nonsense her pure eyes darted around excitingly taking in the smallest bit of details and every vibrant color in the small room. "Uuh!" She pointed at the yellow ball squirming in Shinobu's arms wanting to crawl over there. Not wanting to hear the shrill crying of a baby and causing further damage to his ears, he set her down gently and watched her crawl over to it pushing it around occasionally throwing it at Shinobu urging him to throw it. Obliging with her request, he took the ball in his hands and gently threw it towards her bouncing towards her with a silent thud. "Ah!" She exclaimed, clapping her hands in happiness before very weakly throwing the ball back to him rolling towards him.
Fast forward: The day before
"See you Shinobu!" His friend Masahiro offered a smile waving goodbye before running off having just finished his classes for the day. Waving in return, he started on the walk off campus, his mind wandering to both his lover Miyagi and little baby Yui. She single handedly made that party worth being dragged to. Her squeals of happiness and her crawling towards him made his heart soar in joy seeing her so happy.
Through the murmuring of other students, a soft crying of a baby immediately put him in high alert. Seriously. For some reason, how do people think leaving their babies on campus alone nonetheless will end well? Wanting to satiate his curiosity, he decided to investigate the mysterious crying.
While he followed the sound of wailing, the sounds of the baby continued to increase. Turning around a corner, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight of Yui in a small cardboard box bawling her big grey eyes out with a small note on her chest simply saying:
"If you're reading this, my mother died in a drunk driving accident and my father had left me. I don't have anywhere else to go.
~Yui Tanaka
"You don't have anywhere to go?" He mused gently picking her up, running his thumb across her soft supple skin and his index finger through her soft black, his stare softened when her loud cries softened to whimpers. "I guess you're coming home with me then."
/GG/
It's official. This was the most shocking thing that had happened in his 35 years of living. Miyagi Yoh, laid eyes on the sleeping human being in Shinobu's arms, said boy looking up at him like this is a normal occurrence. His hands had all but turned clammy and his skin tone had turned pale in both shock and astonishment.
"S-Shinobu-chin...y-you mind telling me who's that baby and why are you holding it?!" It's not like he hates children. Not at all. But..for the sake of Shinobu if he's going to suggest what he's thinking then that's going to get shut down immediately, just for his sake. Though he'll admit she looked quite sweet when she was asleep.
"Her name is Yui. She's 3 months old and she's the daughter of one of my friends." He explained, rocking her in his arms taking out the blue pacifier that she was previously sucking on, not moving a muscle at the action. "Look at her. So peaceful." He mumbled staring right into her closed grey eyes. With shaky hands, he reached into his back pocket fishing out a single cigarette and a light blue lighter, his nerves getting the best of him.
"Don't smoke in here." Shinobu quietly hissed. "She has a heart condition and you smoking could trigger something in her heart."
"Come again?"
Shinobu sighed before explaining."It's something called Bradycardia. Basically it's when your heart rate is too slow. Apparently it's a pre-existing heart condition. She has to get a pacemaker inside of her." Miyagi's blue eyes looked like they were going to jump out of their sockets. This has to be some sort of sick joke right? Well judging from Shinobu's demeanor and the way he just casually started explaining everything.
"..Shinobu-chin, please don't tell me you're thinking what I'm thinking." A light chuckle filled the air in an attempt to diffuse the increasingly awkward atmosphere surrounding the two but that familiar look in his lover's eyes showed that he was 100% serious. "Oi you can't be serious. Y-you're in college, hypothetically speaking." His fingers ran through his black hair. "If you were to actually take care of her, how do you plan on doing so."
"I-I can make it work!" He winced feeling the baby shift in his arms, warm breaths puffed constantly on his left arm. He continued in a hushed tone. "I'm saving up money to buy all the necessary baby stuff. I might even ask my sister to babysit if it came to that." Though he already knew that wasn't exactly an option.
"A baby is a life not a toy nor an animal." Miyagi sighed. Well that wasn't a good sign. The baby turned once again before her small eyes fluttered open like a blooming flower showing her small grey eyes first staring at Shinobu then at Miyagi before she started bawling at the sight of a complete stranger. "Don't cry it's okay. He's not going to hurt you." He rocked her repeating the phrase like a calming mantra. Assuming the tears came because of hunger, Shinobu set Yui in Miyagi's arms.
"How about you hold her while I heat up some milk-"
"Wait what, what if she starts crying?" Slight panic overtook him, effectively cutting the youth off. "Gently rock her. I'll be quick."
Doing what he was told, he very awkwardly started rocking her giving her the proper head support, his eyes darted towards his young lover opening the fridge and filling a baby bottle with the cold white beverage. Wait, a baby bottle? Who gave that to him. Nevermind, how did he obtain a bottle?
"Shinobu, where did you get that bottle? I don't remember even having a bottle in here." He whispered
"The friend gave it to me." The microwave dinged indicating the milk was ready. While he checked the temperature of the milk by putting a drop of the white liquid on his arm. Yui frowned at the sight of Miyagi and some tears filled her innocent grey eyes. At the sight of those tears, he ran his index finger through her raven black hair stopping the waterworks. He had to admit, Yui was definitely an adorable baby with small innocent grey eyes, raven black hair, rosey chubby cheeks along with a fox onesie and an innocent expression. When she looked up at him, his heart damn near melted at the adorable creature in his arms. Though he already knew there was no way both him and Shinobu could take care of the child with the current lives they were living, though it wasn't impossible.
'What could have happened to lead you here? Did your parents die? Or your parents simply upped and left you? I hope it's the former otherwise they sound like terrible people.' The thought caused his calm expression to turn sour. It's bad to assume someone is evil with no basis, but he couldn't help it! Even though he had just met Yui, he couldn't help but sympathize with her predicament. She didn't ask for this. She didn't ask to be born nor did she have a say in what should happen to her.
"Hmm she stopped crying." Shinobu looked at him and Yui in confusion. "Maybe she warmed up to you." He concluded
"Or she saw the bottle in your hand and stopped crying." He countered. It made perfect sense in his mind seeing as though he and Yui had just met.
"Let's hope she doesn't turn so overly negative." Holding baby Yui out in his arms to feed her. The moment her eyes came into contact with the warm bottle, her chubby finger flexed as a way of saying 'Give it to me. I'm hungry!' Inserting the bottle in her mouth, the milk flowed her mouth and had a safe journey through her esophagus. "It's almost like she's our biological child..." The statement caused Miyagi to look at his lover like he had grown an extra head. Though he'll admit the similarities are uncanny. Shinobu's shiny grey eyes, similar skin tone (just a bit more tanned) and Miyagi's black hair. Though unfortunately, that was where the physical similarities ended. "Why are you looking at me like that? Even you have to admit, the similarities are uncanny."
Within 10 minutes, Yui had finished her milk and was on a thin white blanket on the floor happily rolling and crawling around, Miyagi's mind currently in the middle of a tug-of-war and Shinobu in the middle of chopping up some cabbage. On one hand, it seems that Shinobu and Yui get along quite well and she really likes him. But on the other hand, a baby is a life and with how their lives were currently operating, even if they were to take of her full time. The thought of neglecting or not taking enough care of her was absolutely not an option. A tug of his pant leg turned his attention to the baby in front of him.
"Hey." Miyagi did the first thing that came to mind and picked her up and Yui let out a squeal of happiness at being held. Her small fingers pinched his nose and cheeks like that of a squishy toy.
A soft smile made its way onto his face over all the pain "O-okay stop that now." His attempts of moving her hands away from his face were all in vain. "See I told you she likes you. I swear you're paranoid." The scent of cooked cabbage filled the air as Shinobu was in the middle of making what appeared to be their dinner. His eyes turned from Yui to Shinobu. 'It's like a small family.' Blue irises met grey. 'It's like I'm a father.' Wait. Father?! Yes the thought warmed his heart but it definitely came as a surprise. He knew that life was full of surprises like marriage or the death of your beloved sensei. But the little girl in his arms was without a doubt the most surprising thing to ever happen to him.
"Ahh!" His thoughts were abruptly broken by an empty bottle thrown to his left temple and a smiling girl. Did she throw that?! She looked proud of what she had done which for some unknown reason, caused him to chuckle despite the bit of pain.
A mini terrorist is what she is. Looks like Shinobu is starting to rub off onto her like bees distributing pollen on flowers. "A mini terrorist huh? How fun." Shinobu turned to him looking completely unamused at his backhand comment. "It's better than being negative for no damn reason."
"It's not negativity." He rests his head on his hands."It's having a realistic view of the world around you."
Yui continued to play with Miyagi's face as they continued playing. Through his squinting eyes, he noticed how small she appeared to be, is this what being premature is? How had he not noticed that. Well, she isn't drastically small but small enough to warrant concern. But thankfully it was about as bad as it was going to get.
"Where did you find her?" He asked while he moved Yui's small chubby hands from his chest.
"Behind the school." The stove had been turned off as he started setting the table. "Heard high-pitched crying and followed it back to her in a cardboard box."
For some reason, a feeling inside his gut was nagging him with the thought of 'what if the mother upped and left?' Well it's definitely a big possibility considering when she gave birth would have contributed to her supposed decision to leave her to fend for herself. But there were no bases to confirm his suspicions so he couldn't come to a conclusive explanation along with her supposed father.
Miyagi could only imagine what could happen if she ever asked that golden question. The pain, the sadness and the resentment she'll carry for the rest of her natural life. His demeanor softened when their eyes met, her eyes were like the first flowers of spring who add color and vibrancy to the world. Should he or should he not take her in?
"Hmm." Light blue eyes bore into stormy grey. Perhaps both him and Shinobu will take her in and become her adopted fathers. Anything for their child after all.
