As soon as she had gotten her cast off, Anna had resumed practicing with her bow, and now cloak. She would go to the cabin, shoot her bow for thirty minutes, aiming at different targets she moved each day, so as to not get used to where they were. Then she would walk around the woods, practicing silent movement, while holding her bow and having her quiver strapped around her waist. After that, she would ride Erak and Lily, switching off between the two horses.

Finally, it was spring. Along with spring came Anna's birthday.

Anna woke up and dragged herself out of bed. She frowned and sniffed the air experimentally. Her eyes widened as she recognized the smell as eggs and pancakes. She darted out of her room and spotted her mom and dad making pancakes and eggs. "Hey mom and dad!" She greeted them excitedly.

"Hey sweetheart!" Her dad smiled, "How did my birthday girl sleep?"

Anna grinned, "Great." She slid into a spot at the table. Anna licked her lips as a heaping plate of steaming pancakes on the table. They bowed their heads and prayed, then began to eat.

Eagerly, Anna grabbed two pancakes and plopped them on her plate as well as a sunny-side-up egg. Dripping sticky syrup over her pancakes, she cut a piece off, placing it in her mouth with a fork. She sighed appreciatively and cut another piece off. After breakfast, it was time for Anna to open her present.

A medium bag was placed on the table before her. Once she had been give the okay signal from her parents, Anna tossed the tissue paper out of the bag and pulled out the present.

In a double sheath, rested two saxe knives. One was smaller than the other, while the other was larger. Anna gaped at them, "Thank you!" She gushed and slid the larger one out of the sheath. Anna swung it experimentally, making sure it didn't swing in too large of an arch.

"Be careful, honey." Sylvia warned. Doyle laughed, "How about you to outside to test those on a target."

Anna finished buckling them around her waist. She looked up, grinning wolfishly, "With pleasure."
