Chapter 34

I think now would be the time to start my warning for the book ending. Don't worry, there will be a sequel as soon as I do the last chapter. I just didn't want too many chapters in one book...unless you guys don't mind. There are a lot more things I want to happen before this overall story ends.

Being left alone with his thoughts had been both a good and bad thing. In the time that Add had been there in that room alone, he'd sunk deep within his thought, his memories, to find out the real truth behind all of this. Everything...it was his fault. Even Ara's first death was his fault and from that first mistake in that first timeline, the people involved began to change for worse and it was all Add's fault.

He felt quite guilty and remorseful but there was nothing he could do about it now. The damage had already been done and even now, he still didn't know how to stop Ara's supposedly inevitable death. He sat in his corner, silent and catious. Nasods had been sent through the day to try taking him down but his dynamos defended him well as if acting on their own but really they were a physical projection of Add's emotions and thoughts.

The weapons didn't automatically kill the nasods for Add had long since exited the stage of uncertainty and fear for his life. Instead, the dynamos simply kept the nasods away from him of made a threatening presence as a few nasods pulled the fallen ones from the room. He didn't quite fully understand his own weapon just yet but one day, he would. Add suddenly heard rushed footsteps and temporarily panicked. No one should have been heading this his way at such a quick speed.

His dynamos instantly reacted zooming right to the open door just as the potential attacker appeared but the moment Add saw who was there, he stopped the dynamos right where they floated. It was Ara and, although she was startled by the dynamos that weren't very far from her throat, she seemed relieved. "Add...you're okay," she said with a smile as tears filled her eyes. She slowly stepped forward.

The dynamos moved back to Add and fell to the ground at his side only for him to quickly get up from his spot in the corner. Ara tackled him into a hug spinning him around in a circle as she did. To say the least, Add was overwhelmingly happy to see that Ara was alive and well. She cried as she hugged him and Add hugged her back, glad to finally be able to touch her once again, to smell her faint flowery scent. "I'm sorry. There are so many things I should have done that could have prevented all of this from happening to you," Ara muttered.

"None of this is your fault. Everything is my fault. All of it. This timeline stuff is all my fault. I'm the reason so many people and nasods died," Add said. "Stop doing that! You can't always take the blame for things, Add," Ara said as she let him go, giving him a scolding look. Add sighed. "Sit down and let me explain. We've got at least ten minutes before Raven makes it to Altera's core to try stopping the place from blowing up," Add said as he sat down on the floor. "How did you know that Raven is heading there now?" Ara asked.

"I'm about to explain everything so listen," Add said as he sat down. Once Ara was seaed in front of him, he began to explain how the timeline initially got screwed up. "The very first time we were brought here by Paradox, we weren't saved by the Crow Mercenaries. Proto was the one that saved us. Eve immediately locked us both away when we first arrived here rather than making a big scene out of our arrival. From there, Proto released us and guided us to the underground city where she introduced us to the Crow Mercenaries. We stayed in the underground city and helped them in their exploits thinking that it was the way to fix whatever was wrong with the timeline."

"I initially created the code card that Raven would use to stop Altera's core from exploding but when we infiltrated the castle, Proto had been found out to be a spy and we were set up. Eve had surrounded us with her special human tracking nasods that went by a different name than what they are in this time period. Eve mamaged to steal the key card but you got it back from her and went to Altera's core alone but you didn't make it in time. The core exploded and you died but the entire Altera kingdom didn't explode, it was just the castle."

"Still, the ground around it began to break and the whole island began to fall apart. It was then that Paradox appeared, stopping time and saving me from falling. He told me that he was sending me back in time so I could fix what went wrong and correct the time anomaly but he didn't tell me what it was. If he'd told me long ago, none of the timelines afterward would have happened. After my fourth fail, I began to get moments of déjà vu which made me realize that I'd failed before. Instead of trying to stop the time anomaly or helping stop the explosion of Altera core, I built a machine that allowed me and whoever I gave access to remember the events that happen."

"That was my first real mistake. Raven, Seris, Zohan, Barton, Fred, and Proto were the ones given access. Raven asked that I exclude Owen but he didn't tell me why. It's as if he knew that he was going to change and didn't want Owen to as well. Anyway, we finally successfully stopped the explosion but in the end, you still died and Paradox still appeared saying that I failed again. I asked him if stopping your death was the time anomaly and he said that it wasn't but fixing the time anomaly would certainly stop your death. I didn't figure out what the time anomaly was and I have a theory as to what it might be but that's besides the point right now. I screwed up these people's lives."

"They resent me for having them repeat these events over and over. They don't want to do that anymore and are willing to do anything to move on with their lives, including kill. I caused all of that and the worst part of it all is that no matter what I did, you kept dying in the end. I couldn't remeber most of the things that happened because they altered my memories using the machine I created. I didn't know something like that was possible but it was Proto's doing and se knew all along, I'm sure," Add explained. Ara remained silent but she stared at Add all the while.

"So what are we going to do?" she asked. "I honestly don't know but for now, we need to get to Altera's core. If I'm correct, this is one of the times where Raven successfully stops it from exploding and we need to be there. I have a feeling something major will take place," Add said. "Okay but, once we succeed this time, we have to pay our respects to Owen. I don't know if Proto and Eve were able to save him or not but either way, he deserves recognition. Proto let me come to you after she found out what you did to Apple," Ara said.

"Then let's go," Add said as he stood up and brought his dynamos to him. "Those look different," Ara said as she also stood. "No time to explain. We need to get going," Add said as he picked Ara up and stood on his dynamos. "Hey, wait. Put me down. I can walk on my own!" Ara protested. "No time," Add said as he left the lab. He knew his way through the caslte and easily found a fast route towards Altera's core but they had to stop for nasods of various types where in the way.

"Don't kill them. Raven's team has already done enough damage," Ara said. "No need. I'll just go a different way," Add muttered and he did. Most of the nasods were crowding towards where Raben was trying to break into Altera core so Add went the second way. Strange enough, he and Ara arrived just as Raven was putting the code card in effect. Raven hadn't noticed that they were there but Seris did and she wasn't far behind Raven.

No one else was there with them leading Add to assume they'd fallen in battle. The door leading from the main emtrance was also sealed tight so no one else would be coming in from that way. "Why are you two here?" Seris asked, her sword pointed at them. "I want to fix this mess I made," Add said. "Well you already tried that plently of times already. When will you learn to accept what you can't change? Ara is going to die and there is nothing you can do about it. Move on so we can too," Seris said.

She seemed distraught but Add couldn't really tell. In timelines past, she had used her ability to fake her emotions to kill Ara. Yes it was sometimes the members of Raven's team that killed Ara. Raven had now backed away from the core, a large spherically shaped energy that was concealed within thick glass and attached to a computer system. I took up the center of the room and Raven and Seris stood in front of it with Add and Ara on the right side of it. The room itself was rather large like a throne room maybe.

"Ara, we might have to fight them. I don't doubt they'll try killing us," Add muttered as he put Ara down. She nodded but kept her gaze on Raven and Seris. "We were able to stop the explosion but we still need to reset the timeline. To do that, Ara needs to die. I hope you can forgive me again. I'll find a way to stop things from going downhill next time."

"There won't be a next time. I intend to stop things right here and right now. I finally think I know what the time anomaly is and you aren't going to like it," Add said to Raven.

No one said anything so Add continued. "The time anomaly is Seris. I've realized that in every timeline,  she's always there in the end. Even you died once but Seris didn't. Not even once. If she does, then everything is fixed. I don't know why but that's what I've figured out," Add said. Just as he predicted, Raven didn't like this at all. "How could you say something like that?! Seris isn't the time anomaly. Why in the world would one person's life be a time anomaly?" Raven seethed.

Seris was silent with shock, not really wanting to believe Add's words. "It's possible for someone to be a trigger for something at a later date in time so Seris must be the time anomaly. Either she was never supposed to exist or she was supposed to have died long ago," Add said. "Lies!" Raven shouted. He was enraged and Add could understand why. It was like someone telling Add that Ara had to be killed if the world were to be normal again.

"If she really is the anomaly...who would have to kill her?" Ara muttered. That was something Add hadn't entirely thought about but he already technically had blood on his hands. "If she is the reason I can't move on in my life and save this kingdom, then I will kill her," Proto said as she made her precense known. She'd entered the room through the same way Add and Ara had gotten there, the back entrance. "Proto, I swear, if you even try laying a hand on her..." Raven was saying but Proto had alread sprung into action, going into her brutal battle mode to attack Seris.

Raven of course stepped in to defend her. Seris herself used her sword to defend as well. Should Add and Ara get involved in the battle? Add wasn't sure if it was a good idea but his dynamos had already proven that they were more than capable of taking down a target with eerie ease. "Add, I...have an idea," Ara said. Add looked at her and for a second, he was startled for in Ara's eyes was an uncanny murderous intent.
