Chapter 30

I think I'm going to cut this arc a bit short. It's not going to interfere with anything, I just didn't want the book to be too long. Don't worry, I'll figure something out.

Add wasn't sure where he was but as he regained consciousness, he was certain that he was restrained by something. As he opened his eyes and found bright lights above him, he began to panic. He tried moving only to find his wrists trapped under metal bands. The metal bands were a familiar thing to him, a traumatic thing to be exact. Upon realizing that he was in a lab of some sort and trapped to an experimentation table, he began to panic for the memories flooded his mind and reminded him of the reason he became stronger, smarter, and more protective.

"If you just stayed still, it wouldn't hurt as bad. You're being difficult to work with. The sooner you let me finish the experiment, the sooner you can go," his father had said. "Father stop! Please!" he had pleaded as his father ignored his wishes and continued to inject him with several different substances. "Quiet! You're making things more complicated than they have to be," his father had snapped. Add had responded with tears that his father still ignored to continue his experiment.

Thinking strait wasn't an option for him. His mind went into full panic mode and he began to pull at the metal bands keeping him bound despite knowing that he couldn't escape. "No...no...no, please, no," Add muttered as he frantically pulled at the metal again. He felt as though he was reliving his past except much worse for he knew back then what his father was going to do to him before hand. Now his mind was filled with uncertainty. Still, he frantically tried pulling his wrists out of the tight metal bands even if he risked bleeding.

"You shouldn't do that you know," a familiar voice said. Add froze completely for he was confused as to why he was hearing this voice. It wasn't that he was going crazy or anything but he knew for a fact that he was hearing the voice of a someone he'd lost and that shouldn't have been possible. "Dynamo?" Add said. "Oh, you remember me, Master Add. That's nice I guess although it would have been better for you to have erased me from your memory the moment I perished. You won't like me now," Dynamo said as he hovered into Add's line of sight.

Add was truly shocked at seeing him floating there in front of him. "They...they fixed you. You're okay now," Add said with a bit of relief but Dynamo laughed at him. "You say that like it's a good thing. Don't you know what they're using me for, Master Add?" Dynamo said. Add was starting to feel uneasy in Dynamo's presence for something was not quite right. "What did they do to you?" Add asked.

"They gave me insight. Nothing special. Just a couple of history lessons and clarification of who I am and what my purpose really is. Being your servant, a nasod who comes at every call, was not my purpose. I don't think you realize the situation you're in though," Dynamo said a bit condescendingly. It almost made Add shudder. The thought of the formal Dynamo turning into a nasod similar to Eve and her condescending ways was something he'd rather not have take place.

"You're not on my side anymore. I can tell that much," Add said as he stared at Dynamo's digital red eyes that used to be blue. The nasod's eyes blinked a bit before he laughed at Add. It startled him for Dynamo had never laughed before. "Is that all you can tell? Master Add, the infamously intelligent enemy of nasods, The Tracer? It's sad really. I thought you would have devised an entire escape plan by now," Dynamo said. It bothered Add greatly that Dynamo said the word thought which only meant that he was able to think for himself far better than he could before.

"How are you even here? Your memory and database chip were both broken," Add inquired. "You really are stupid huh. We're in Altera, the home of nasods and you didn't consider the fact that they have ways to restore nasods who have suffered from fatal injuries? Such a disappointment. No worries. I didn't have that much faith in you after you disappointed me the first time. I still don't remember everything but I do remember every memory that you were in," Dynamo said.

"You aren't the same. There's no way you're the same Dynamo I know," Add said with a frown. "True but incorrect. I'm the same nasod you once knew but I've changed for the better of my race. Enough out of you though. It's time I get payback for all of those years of servitude. Wouldn't you like to know why you're stuck to this experimentation table?" Dynamo said with a little bit of a taunt in his voice. Add said nothing, not really wanting to find out for he already feared the worst.

"I know what you are...what you really were meant to be. Only I have the orders to carry out that original plan. You'll be of great use to us in the fight against humans and your precious Miss Ara," Dynamo said. Add's eyes widened in shock and fear. "What did you do to Ara?" he demanded. "Well nothing. She isn't even here. Her lucky self got saved yesterday by the Crow Mercenaries. You've been out for two days you know. You won't be saved though. Proto isn't allowed to leak the information of your whereabouts. She's an excellent double agent but not even the queen can fully trust her. No one knows what side she's on to be honest," Dynamo ranted.

Add began to ignore him though and started pulling his wrist again. He honestly would rather have them bleed than have them stuck under the metal bands. "Didn't I tell you that you shouldn't do that. Don't you ever really listen to me? Oh right, you prefer not to take most of my advice because I annoy you. Isn't that right," Dynamo said. Add still ignored him, having had plenty of practice doing so, but Dynamo didn't want to put up with Add's negligence.

Add yelped in surprise when the little nasod quickly surrounded itself in electricity and barely missed zapping him with it. "That was a warning shot. Next time you won't be so lucky. It's almost the same amount of voltage that you use in just one of those floating things you use as weapons. To a nasod like me, that much voltage is nothing but for you it's quite painful...or at least it should be. You can withstand electricity so it's nothing more than a simple shock to your senses. Nevertheless it still hurts you a bit," Dynamo said with narrowed eyes.

Add was sort of surprised that Dynamo knew so much but he said nothing and kept his gaze on the irritated nasod. Suddenly, the sound of a door opening could be heard and Dynamo turned his attention to whoever had walked in. "You're here. Took you long enough. Shouldn't the head scientist always be on time? Whatever happened to punctuality?" Dynamo said. "You should watch what you say. I am still the princess afterall. I could find a replacement for you," the newcomer said.

"My apologies Princess Apple but you and I both know that you need me in order to complete Asker Grenore's original plans for his child," Dynamo said. "You keep mentioning this Asker Grenore person but I've never heard of him. You have much explaining to do but we'll need to get started first. I need to do an examination and get some samples," Apple said, purposely not acknowledging Dynamo's correct statement.

"I'll have Proto bring me the weapons later. They began to react when he woke up so he must be conected to them in some sort of way. Go let Proto know that I'm going to need just one of them. Eve wants me to figure out what they are and how capable they can be. They're most definitely of nasod origin," Apple continued. "Be careful with that one. He's still got a little fight left in him so you better not leave any opportunities," Dynamo said as he floated towards the door.

"You underestimate your princess," Apple said just as Dynamo left. All the while, Add was listening and frightened. He was not afraid of the nasods themselves. No, he was afraid of what they were going to do to him. "Didn't Dynamo warn you not to do that?" Apple said as she walked over to him. She held a remote of some sort and pressed a button, sending a quick electrical shock through Add's body. Hey yelped in pain and froze in place, not liking the feeling of foreign electricity passing through him.

He had been pulling his wrist from the metal bands again which hurt but he still did care. After hearing what they had planned for him, Add was willing to do anything to escape. "It is my job as princess and protector of the nasod race to conduct research and experiments on humans. Most experiments are ethical and the humans remain unharmed and well taken care of when we decide to keep them. They are usually children who were brought here by their parents or children we've caught snooping around inside our boarders."

"I personally like children. They're easy to handle and they listen to my every comand just as my servants do. Nasods hate people though and this posses a problem. To understand them, I must figure out the way the human works and reacts to things. I don't get to choose which humans are placed in my care. Usually, that is Eve's decision. She has a strict no human policy for Altera that excludes our father though. He is the reason you are here...that and the information we received from Dynamo. You might be just as smart as out father, Adrian but there's no way that another normal human can be so. You are quite the valuable test subject you know," Apple said.

"Why are you telling me all of this?" Add asked. Another electrical shock was sent through him in reply. "Silence. I did not give you permission to speak. I wish it weren't this way. I wish I could take care of you as I do the other children but I have my orders. I'm telling you this so that you can be conditioned early. You are not free and you will not act freely. I control what happens to you and you will do whatever I say whenever I command it. Is that understood?" Apple said.

Add said nothing to her. "Good. You'll be easy to deal with. From what Dynamo has told me, you've had nightmares about something like this, no?" Apple said as she studied him. Add's eyes involuntarily wet themselves with tears but he managed to snap his eyes shut to keep any of them from falling. "Oh, a reaction. I wonder....what emtions do you feel and what emotions do you not possess? What degree of tolerance do you have against pain and electricity? What are those nasod things of yours? Why do they only react to you when they are nasods and should react to Eve or my own code? Hmm? What's this? You're crying? I haven't even done anything to you yet," Apple said.

Add didn't want to but how could he not. Ara was not there, he was literally stuck in a real life nightmare, and there was a high chance that he wouldn't be escaping any time soon. Add flinched when Apple began stroking his hair. "Don't worry. We're only getting samples today. The real experimentation starts tomorrow," Apple said in a surprisingly soothing way. She certainly had some experience in this particular feild.

"Apple, you sent for me?" someone said as they entered the lab. "Yes, Proto I did. You have the thing I requested right?" Apple said as she continued to stoke Add's head. Proto nodded and floated forth a single dynamo to Apple. "Excellent. You may leave now," Apply said and Proto did just that. "Let the experimentation begin," Apple said to herself as she went to a nearby counter and retrieved a needle.
