Chapter 9

Sugar Alert!!!!! This chapter may cause you diabetes. ..😁😁😁

"Arya? Have you forgotten the way to our chamber?" Draupadi asked frowning as she watched Arjun going into another direction.

"No, priye. I have not. But someone are waiting for me. I'm going to meet them only." Arjun replied not stopping.

"Who is waiting for you?" Draupadi asked from behind.

"Why don't you come and see for yourself?" Arjun said and rounded a corner getting out of her sight.

Draupadi followed immediately to catch him. But as she rounded the corner, she stopped coming at the end of the hall. Arjun was nowhere to be found. There was only a large mirror on the end wall. Draupadi contemplated for a moment and then touched the mirror to find its an illusionary door.

She went through it. The other side of the door opened up to a beautiful lakeside surrounded by different flower trees. The flowers with their fragrance and vivid color made it a sight to behold. The area was lightened by only the moon and fireflies flying around. Giving the area an entrancing atmosphere. A dock led to a dias situated on the middle of the lake. There was sitting arrangements made on the dias with bedspread and pillows. Arjun's veena was kept there. Draupadi smiled looking around.

"Now you got it? This serene atmosphere and my veena was waiting for me." Arjun whispered in her ear standing at her back. "And their wait will be deficient without you."

"Why is that? Who am I to them?" Draupadi asked in a whisper.

"You're the beauty of the night. The melody of the veena. The passion of my heart. You're SavyasachinSaragata (Passion of Savyasachi)." Arjun replied in a husky voice. His lips touching her ear lightly. Draupadi closed her eyes feeling the feathery touch. Arjun gently lifted her in his arms and walked to the dais. Draupadi opened her eyes as she felt him placing her down in a half sitting position with pillows supporting her back. She stared at his eyes as Arjun kept looking at hers with love and passion. He slowly bent down towards her lips. Draupadi closed her eyes again, but felt him placing a soft kiss on her forehead. She looked at him to see a smirk playing on his lips. Draupadi lowered her gaze in shyness.

Arjun went to the veena and started playing a beautiful melody that spoke of their undying love and fervour.

Nakul took a deep breath as he stood in front of the door to his bed chamber. His heart was beating rapidly. Anxiousness surrounded him for reasons unknown. Might be it was because this night was long awaited. Drisana was no longer his lover whom he went to meet secretly at nights. That was forbidden pleasure. Forbidden by the society's standards but demanded by heart. The soft touches, gentle whispers, getting lost in each others eyes full of ardour was not forbidden anymore. His love, his heart, his devotion, his obsession was waiting for him just on the other side of this door. And he had full right to open it.

Nakul finally opened the door with a slight smile on his lips. As he looked around the room, his body stiffened immediately with concern. Drisana sat on the floor holding her left foot and crying.

"Hridaya!? What happened to you?" Nakul asked rushing to her side. "Did you get hurt? What happened to your feet? Did you get a sprain? Where is it hurting?" Nakul asked in a breath checking her foot for injuries.

"No. I didn't get a sprain." Drisana replied still crying.

"Then what happened?" Nakul asked not understanding the reason of her distress as her foot seemed to be fine.

"I was sitting for so long. My feet got numbed." Drisana said crying miserably. Nakul stared at her for sometimes. Then coming out of the trance, he helped her in getting up.

"Let's take a walk. Your feet will be fine in a moment." Nakul said and started walking supporting her towards the balcony. They went to sit on the swing placed there. Drisana's sobs had subsided as Nakul rubbed her back gently. She leaned on his chest, resting her head there as slow tears escaped her eyes once in a while.

"Why are you crying?" Nakul asked gently caressing her head.

"I was remembering Dravida." Drisana said in a whisper.

Devika and Draupadi after much teasing and laughing had left her in Nakul's chamber. As she sat there alone, she got nervous and started missing her Anandini bhabhishree. Then she remembered her other sisters-in-law, her mother, her father, her brothers and as overwhelmed emotions started to choke her, she was unable to stop the tears that flowed freely from her eyes. But she tried to control herself and was getting up to drink some water and stroll around to calm down. Unfortunately, she fell down because of her numbed foot and at that time her sobs escaped too.

Nakul didn't need to be told anything else. He understood well Drisana's inner turmoil. She was always strong and controlled a tight leash on her emotions. But she was too sensitive when it came to the ones close to her heart. She had maintained a strong front while leaving Dravida. She was all poised and graceful like the perfect Royal she was supposed to be, not letting more than a few drops of tears escape her eyes. And the tension of the last few days had not allowed her to condense into the changed situation, the void left by her family's absence.

Nakul kept caressing her head and rubbing her back gently letting her unburden her emotions. Drisana's tears stopped eventually, but she remained in the same position.

"Sorry." Drisana whispered again.

"Why?" Nakul asked looking down at her face.

"What bride cries remembering her family at her first night after wedding." Drisana said coming out of his embrace. "I ruined it. I was supposed to sit on the bed waiting for you. I didn't even touched your feet. And I must look like a ghost after crying so much." Drisana added with a cute pout. She was annoyed at herself now. Nakul controlled his laugh looking at her expression.

"Our night can never be ruined when you're with me." Nakul said turning her face towards him by holding her chin. "As for waiting for me sitting on the bed, I like it this way better. Now I can carry you to bed." He added making her eyes lower with a blush appearing on her cheeks. "And about touching feet, I got something much preferred and desired with you touching my heart."
Drisana upped her eyes to stare into his. She only found love, adoration and happiness for her dancing in those dark brown orbs.

"And as for looking like a ghost, I won't lie, you do look a bit horrible with this smeared kajal." Nakul said laughing. Drisana gasped and started to hit his arm. Nakul held her arms with one hand and wiped her face with his Angavastra with the other. Drisana's kajal had left trails getting mixed with her tears. Her lip tint had also got smudged. And her bindi made with kumkum and chandan got smothered on Nakul's chest.

"You're very bad Na -" Drisana was saying but stopped herself before taking his name.

"Na-? Kya? Pura to bolo. (What? Complete it.)" Nakul asked innocently.

"Are you expecting me to call you 'Arya'?" Drisana asked back with raised eyebrows.

"Nope. I know you won't call me with something so simple." Nakul said smiling with mischief.

"Exactly. I'm not going to call you Arya. I'm going to call you -" Drisana said coming closer to him.

"VAIYDJI." Drisana shouted suddenly and ran away laughing. Nakul cringed closing his eyes. An older scraggy version of himself came in front of his eyes. He opened his eyes immediately screaming,

"Nehi!!!!! (No!!!!!)"

Yudhisthir came inside his room to find Devika half laying on the bed, wide-awake.

"You haven't slept yet." Yudhisthir stated sighing. She always did that. Never slept until he came back.

"I followed your order fully. Took a relaxing bath and went to sleep. But this sleep?!!! It escaped me ignoring Maharaj's order. It says it won't come to me until I'm wrapped in my husband's arms." Devika said smiling and came closer to him. Yudhisthir shook his head with a smile.

Holding his hand she took him to the couch in front of the dressing table and making him sit on it, started removing his jewelleries and Angavastra.

"You shouldn't be up so late. It's not good for your health." Yudhisthir said to her.

"Not having you beside me is bad for my health." Devika replied.

"I'm always beside you. Even when I'm not physically present." Yudhisthir said smiling at her.

"That you are. But this is the only time I get to feel your presence physically. Otherwise whole day you remain with my co-wife only." Devika said.

"Co-wife?!!!" Yudhisthir asked in shock.

"Yes. What else Indraprasth is! My co-wife who keeps you away from me." Devika said jokingly. But Yudhisthir held her wrist and made her sit beside him.

"Do you feel neglected because of my responsibilities towards Indraprasth?" Yudhisthir asked gently.

"Never Arya. I feel proud when I see you fulfilling your responsibilities. Not all can sacrifice their own happiness and peace for others, for the greater goods. I know you also want to spend more time with me, with our family, relaxing and laughing. But you forfeit your happiness for the common people, for Indraprasth. I only feel pride and joy watching you." Devika replied sincerely staring at his eyes.

"And I feel lucky to have you beside me. You know Davika, before I met you, I never hoped for more than a marriage filled with duty and honour. But you made me realise that I have a beating heart too that yearns for more. Inside me, in my heart, I always held righteousness most closely and preciously. And I got afraid thinking either love and duty could reside in harmony at the same place or not. But you made it so easy. You accepted me with my righteousness and duties. You make me feel like the most blessed man on earth." Yudhisthir whispered holding his emotions in his eyes.

"I don't know if you're the most blessed man on earth or not. But you came to my life as a blessing. You're the answer to my every prayer. I was just a shallow of a girl that you turned into a conscious woman. Or else who was I rather than a merry tortured slave." Devika said with tears in her eyes. Yudhisthir kept his forehead on hers.

"You were, you are and you always will be the Queen of my heart. Even when we didn't meet, you were still mine. You're AjatashatruAapti (fulfilment of the one born without enemies)." Yudhisthir whispered while wiping her tears and his lips met hers in the next moment.

"You're not going to call me VAIYDJI!" Nakul declared as soon as Drisana came back after washing her face.

"Why? What's wrong in that? You are a vaiyd after all." Drisana said suppressing her smile.

"I'm not a vaiyd. I'm - I'm a -I'm only knowledgeable in ayurveda." Nakul said stammering a bit.

"A knowledgeable person in ayurveda is basically called vaiyd." Drisana said crossing her arms.

"Whatever. You won't call me Vaiydji. That's it." Nakul said stubbornly. Drisana couldn't hold her laughter anymore looking at his expression. Nakul held on to his stubborn face for a few moments, but then got lost in Drisana's allure.

She was wearing a hot pink coloured saree with thin gold border. Floral ornaments adorned her from head to toe. Her hair wasn't braided rather loosely confined with small flower garlands. The only jewelleries she wore was her nose ring and anklets. The residue of heavily applied kajal and lip tint remained even after washing her face. The slight touches of those gave her an exquisite look increasing her beauty tenfold.

Drisana's laugh subsided as she noticed Nakul staring at her intensely without blinking. A mischievous thought crossed her mind. She went closer to him slowly as not to break his trance. When only inches distance remained in between, she brought her fingers in front of his eyes suddenly making noise. That brought Nakul out of his trance and he looked here and there in embarrassment.

"Why were you gawking at me?" Drisana asked smiling with mischief and moving closer to him. Nakul gulped backing away from her and looked everywhere but at her.

"Me? N- no." He replied stammering.

"Really? But I saw you staring. And it's ok. You can stare at me all you want." Drisana said keeping her arms around his shoulders and stopping him from moving behind.

"Hridi." Nakul called her meeting her eyes. "You'll regret it." He warned her for the first and last time.

"When I first met you, you freed me from illness. Your love for me has always been pure and untainted from any lechery. You have been guileless to me invariably. I don't find any defects or faults in you my charming prince and I feel wholesome in your arms. You infallibly bring happiness to my heart. That's why, I can never ever regret a single moment spent in your embrace Nirmay." Drisana said smiling softly. Nakul stared in her deep black orbs ardently. Then holding her waist, he placed his lips on her forehead. Drisana closed her eyes relishing his touches. Trailing his lips to her eyes one by one, he moved to her cheeks, kissing them softly. After placing a kiss on her chin, he brushed his nose with hers before finally meeting her lips. They remained like that for long moments, not moving, just feeling their closeness.

"Then let's celebrate our untainted love by becoming NirmayaHridi." Nakul whispered on her lips and then lifted Drisana in his arms.

"Bhukamp! Bhukamp!!! (Earthquake! Earthquake!!!)" Sahdev jolted up from his deep slumber as his bed was shaking.

"Bhukamp nehi murkh! Main hu. (It's not earthquake you idiot. It's me.)" Bheem said in irritation. He had been trying to wake him up since so long and started shaking the bed at last.

"Bhrata Bheem!!! Kyu jagaya mujhe? Itne dino ke paschat itni acchi neend aayi thi. (Why did you wake me up? I was sleeping peacefully after so many days.)" Sahdev whined.

"Haan toh mujhe bhi toh itne dibas paschat bhook lagi hai! Aur tumhara dayitwa hai ki tum meri sudha saant karne mein meri sahayta karo. (So? I'm also hungry after so many days. And it's your duty to help me in satisfying my hunger.)" Bheem said arrogantly.

"Itne dibas paschat se kya arth hai aapka? Aapko bhook lagna bandh hi kab huya tha? (What do you mean by after so many days? When had you stopped getting hungry?)" Sahdev asked in bewilderment.

"Woh itne dibas se Jyesth ke bare mein soch soch kar, main itni glani mein duba huya tha, ki mujhe bhook hi nehi lag rahi thi. Itne dino se main toh bas cinta mein vojan grahan kar raha tha. Aab jake shanti se vojan karunga main.

(Actually from so many days I was emerged in guilt so much thinking about Jyesth, that I didn't feel hunger properly. I was just eating in tension only. But now I will eat in peace.)"

Bheem said making Sahdev's mouth hung open. Bheem had consumed more foods than normal in thus past days. And he was saying he wasn't even hungry.

"Now let's go. I don't want to disturb the dasis." Bheem said starting towards the door.

"Of course. Now that you're no longer in tension, why will you give them tension? You'll only spoil my sleep." Sahdev muttered before following behind.

'Please God, hear my request. Bhrata Bheem is spoiling my sleep. Give him such a wife who spoils his sleep and hunger both. And soon, please.' Sahdev prayed silently.

Unknown to him, Krishna while half laying on his swing with closed eyes at Dwarka's garden smiled and said,

"Tathastu. (So be it.)"
