In The Lies
"Order in the court." The belief announced.
Bodies of the jury and viewers sit down in front of Judge Morgan Caesar.
"Thank you, we are back on the record. Just a reminder for everyone, the state rested today. We will end the session until tomorrow morning at 8:30 am. The jury is dismissed."
As viewers left the courtroom after the jury, both state and defense lawyers go to the judge's chamber.
"Your honor, what the defense is asking of this witness is outragous. They had enough time to question them on cross examination. They were asked if they wanted to recall her, and they said no." William protest.
"Judge, she is a key witness to the crime. I believe she has more to the story than what we were allowed to ask and show to her and the jury. Our client wants an opportunity to question them." Craig puts a new file on the desk.
The judge took both sides agruments strongly but decided what was best.
In the hallway of the courthouse, prosecution exits the judges' chambers.
"What happened?" Someone asks, coming from the elvator. "I am going back on the stand?"
William shook his head, "the judge denied their motion." William held a close heart for this case. "We'll see you tomorrow."
They left the courthouse, going separate ways home.
Eve pulled up to her home, her boyfriend's car parked in the driveway. Upon opening the door, she felt a swift hand grab her.
"Hey, beautiful." Ivan smiled. He graciously dipped Eve and kissed her. "How was court?"
"The defense wanted me to take the stand for them." Eve hated court talk.
Ivan knew it, too.
"I did make us dinner, your favorite."
"Really, you made dinner?" She joked.
"Hush."
"I love you."
Ivan smiled, pressing their noses together. "Really?"
She nods, drawing him closer. "Alexa, play DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again."
Alexa began the song.
August 18th
"How much time, before it starts?" Ivan yawned, sipping his cup of coffee. He leaned quietly against the wall.
Today, the defense were resting their case. They wanted to call on one last witness. However; the last person to be called is nowhere to be found. This could he good for the state, but even for them, knowing nothing of the newest witness.
"Why are you worried? The state has this in the bag. My uncle did the crime. They will put him away for good." Eve comforted Ivan.
Ivan gave Eve a short smile, then decided to walk down several doors to find privacy.
"What's with him?" She thought quietly.
"Eve." William approaches, William pulled her to the little bench against the wall. "Eve, I'm sorry to tell you this... they found your uncle dead in his cell."
Eve stared in disbelief, "How did he die?" Eve felt her body shaking uncontrollably.
William frantically called for Ivan and a medical team. Both William and Ivan knew of her medical history of anxiety and seizures. A medic team soon managed to help Eve calm down and asked her random questions; personal and nonpersonal.
"Eve? Can you hear me? Eve?" A medic asks.
The med and William usher for bystanders to clear the hall. As a new team of medics ushered in, William helped get Eve on the strecher. Medics rushed her straight to the hospital, Ivan not far behind them in his own car.

Heart Survivor Hospital
Eve blinked a few times. She had been looking at a flashlight used by Doctor Joseph Raines. She felt okay but could tell something more was at risk.
"We'll have to wait for the results, which will take a few hours."
"Thank you, doc." Ivan, who was sitting beside the bed. Ivan no longer wanted to distance himself. He blamed himself for not being there next to his girlfriend.
"What's on your mind?" Eve asks him, brushing her hand up his arm.
"Everything. What made your uncle do this?" He muttered softly. "I hate this." He pinched his nose, his frustration boiled; the girl of his dreams is in the hospital, while her uncle now gets away with murder.
Eve looked at him calmly. "Ivan. Honey, let's make most of our time. Promise md, it's us here on out."
Ivan stared blankly at Eve's hand. His gripped tightening.
"Ivan?"
He stood up, dropping her hand. "I'll be right back. Don't let the doctor inform you without me here." He rushed towards the door, his figure turning left; to her assumption to the guest waiting room. Ivan locked the closed the door to the guest waiting room once, ensuring he was alone. He began dialing a number on his phone, "hey its me."
A few hours passed. Eve began to worry about Ivan. The doctor had come by six times after Ivan left. The hospital needed the room for incoming paitents. Any longer, and she would have to leave with possible answers to her health scare.
Ivan soon reentered Eve's hospital room. He seemed more stressed than ever.
"Where have you been?" Eve punched him. She was now back into regular clothing.
Ivan shrugged her question off, "Come on. Let's just get your test results and go home."
At the receptionist desk, Doctor Morgan handed Eve the file. He wished her good luck and hugged her goodbye; gaining an odd look from Ivan.
August 22
Today, Eve, her friends and family will now dread in. The case against her uncle would come to a full end. The courthouse was packed with Eve's family, some of her friends. Ivan came to show his full supporter, among the rumors of her family, not a fan of him and Eve living together.
Everyone rose in the courtroom for the jury. As everyone, including the judge and jurors. The judge began to examine everyone in a defeated look, "It's been a long process for us all." He tried to start, "both parties and I have come to the final conclusion. This case and trail will end. Jurors, we thank you for your commitment to being fair to all involved. I personally want to thank you for being patient as the news of the defendant death will hurt for the family and the victims."
Ivan rubbed Eve's shoulders as her family gathered around them. "We are all here for you." Her aunt Mira cried into a blue tissue.
"You're welcome to stay with us, as long as you need." Mira's husband Conner added.
Mira is the sister of Eve's dad and her killer uncle. Eve loved her aunt. She spent all of her summers with her. Mira taught her how to cook, bake, and even flirt.
"Can we discuss this later?" Jessica complained, "you promised to take me to the mall."
Jessica is the eldest child. Spoiled, treats anyone in her path like trash. Her two younger siblings, Ryan and Mavis, are different from her. Eve got along better with them. They thought of Eve as the older sibling they preferred to have.
She does movie nights, build forts, make them food, etc.
"Eve, you're only 16." Conner sighed softly. Conner was a police officer. An officer of the law for 25 years.
Conner had been on call of the night of killings. He will never forget that fateful phone call.
Night of the killings
"911, what's your emergency."
"Someone, please send help."
"What's going on, miss?"
"Someone is in my home. I'm downstairs hiding in the closet."
"What is your name, miss? I need you to stay calm, give me your address." The responder listened closely. Beginning to type everything quickly, embarking the police and ambulance. "Help is on the way, Eve. Can you stay on the phone for me?"
"Yes."
Eve began to hear screams. The closet door had a small opening. A figured appeared in the din lighting.
Eve saw the person, and recognizing them.
"Eve are you there? Emergency crews are not far away. Do you see the suspect?"
Eve placed the phone next to the door.
"Where is it?" They grumbled. "Come on, where is it?" They began smashing anything in sight.
They paused in their spot.
"Eve. Oh Evie, where are you?' They taunt to Eve. Eve knew the person, as only few mock her with that nickname.
Police sirens rung outside the home.
"See you soon, Evie."
The person smiled wickedly, taking off running to the back door.
"Police! Put your hands up. If you refuse to come out; we will use force to come in." They waited for ten seconds, unable to hear or see movement. They moved forward into the home.
"Eve. This is the police. It's okay to come out. Your uncle is outside, to take you to the station."
Police Station
11pm
Officers walk past the integration room, trying to answer calls, talk with neighbors. The community of the street felt shocked, hopeless. Police had found two dead bodies.
"Eve, can you anything?" Officer Raplh Gray asks. "I want you to start from the beginning okay, when your ready."
Eve drank some water. As she began to tell them, what she remembered. It all came back to her of who committed the crime. She knew with having ties to the police, could have dangered her whole family and friends.
"Do you know, who may have done this?" Her uncle asks.
"I recognized the voice. I don't know why he did this. You need to find him and stop him."
"Who?"
Five Years later
Two years after the dismissal of the trial. Eve went missing. No body, no blood, no weapon.
Who's the suspect? That is a new, but also old mystery left by a well known name.
