Chapter 2

"Aiden! Why... Didn't you stop him? Why didn't you say anything?" I ask.

"I— I wanted to. But I—" I hear someone in the distance.

"Myra! Aiden!" I turn around and see Nico running up to us, "I finally found you two... What happened?"

"Oh, nothing to worry about." I smile, "So! Can we explore out of the walls? I want to see the outside world!"

"I— I was hoping you'd forget!" Nico pouts, "Are you sure you want to go?"

"Look, pussycat, you don't have to go if you're scared." Aiden rolls his eyes.

"I'm not a cat! Stop it! I'm just worried Myra could get hurt."

"Well all we need to to is to not get separated! That way we won't get hurt or lost!" I smile, "Come on, let's go!"

"F-Fine." Nico sighs and follows, along with Aiden trailing behind.

"Wow! The trees, the flowers! Everything is so pretty!" I giggle.

"It's not... that interesting," Aiden says.

"Myra! Don't go too far!" I hear Nico trying to catch up to me.

"You're so annoying, cat."

"I'm getting sick and tired of these nicknames!"

"Look at me, Nico. Does it look like I care?"

"I WILL punch you square in the face!"

"Yeah, if you can throw a punch."

"Oh~! Just watch me..."

"Stop ruining my fun, you two! This forest is amazing!" I spotted a small bluebird, "A bird!" It flies away, but I chase after it, trying to catch the bird.

"Myra! Wait up!" I hear Nico shouting in the distance, I ignore him since I know they'll be able to catch up to me. The bluebird flies down onto a tree branch. I tried jumping up to grab the bird, but in the end, I gave up. I look around, to see no one. No sign of Nico, or Aiden. Just me.

"Nico? Aiden?" I looked around and saw footsteps, they looked fresh. It couldn't be them trying to scare me. No... Nico would be too worried for me, and Aiden wouldn't be able to scare me because of him. Could there be...?!

My heart rate then began to increase. I became scared, anxious. Why do I have a feeling somebody's watching me?! I turn around and start running. Then all of a sudden, someone jumps in front of me and points their daggers at me. It was a red-haired boy, with a streak of orange in his hair.

"What's a pretty lady like you doing here? All alone in these woods?" He smirks but his eyes widen a bit and he lowers his daggers, "Oh... You look familiar. Are you Myra Meeka from Aroonshire?"

"Yeah... And who are you?" I back away, but he comes closer.

"What a pretty jewel you have there. Mind if I have a look at it?" He lets out his hand and starts reaching for my necklace, I grab my necklace and cover it with both my hands.

"N-No! I don't even know you!" I glare at him.

"Oh! Where are my manners~? Hm... Call me Midnight~!"

"What a weird name. uhm.. Did your parents really name you Midnight?"

"No, it's just a nickname everyone uses for me."

"Why Midnight though?"

"Because... isn't the midnight sky pretty? The stars are pretty to look at— You know stargazing? I like to stargaze."

"Oh... That's— HEY!" Midnight pushes me onto the floor and I let go of the necklace. He bends down and smiles, he holds the necklace in his hands.

"Thanks, your highness— hah?!" Before Midnight could pull the necklace off my neck, he looks up and I see Nico with a bow and arrow, and Aiden with a sword, "Who are you guys?"

"We should be asking you that!" Nico glares at Midnight, "Let go of our friend."

"Why should I? I mean, look at how much of a treasure she truly is. I could just kill you two and take her for myself."

"It's two against one! Let her go or you're dead!"

"Fine, it's not like I needed her necklace anyways..." Midnight looks down at me and grins, "See you soon, Myra." Midnight lets go of my necklace and stand up, he jumps into the trees and disappears. I stand up and Nico runs up to me and hugs me tightly, making me fall back down.

"OH MY GOODNESS, MYRA! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE RAN AWAY LIKE THAT!" I hugged Nico back, it sounded like he was crying. I look up and see Aiden, obviously trying to hide his smile.

"You had us worried, idiot."

I smile, "Sorry."
