Homeward bound on the morrow

Today was a pretty taxing one. I'm exhausted, and Dewmaru isn't feeling well.

The battle is over, and I'm not going to tell you just yet how it ended. We arrived at a gym at around eight in the morning, and entered as we usually did, minding our own business, checking in and waiting. But when we entered the arena, we were greeted by a man who was obviously in the military at some point. He was strong and confident-looking, and his pokemon didn't look any less imposing.

Dewott went out first and did his best, but didn't quite cut it. He was the first to fall in the battle. Milly sent the Floatzel out next, one after another. One opponent total was sent back to the ball. Serperior did well, but things were not looking good. Water and grass types were far from effective on electric types. I was sent out, and there were still four electric types to fight. Oh boy.

I've fought against worse odds, though.

It was exhausting, dodging like that. But losing as few hit points as possible would be best. I downed one. Still standing. I brought the next down inside two minutes. I was still up. The next one I finished off in my stylish fashion, with hearts thrown in the mix for no real reason. Teetering, but still ready for action. The fourth was sent out. It knew I was near the end of my capacity, so he showed no mercy. I frantically dodged around the best I could, and again used a few attacks around all the leaping. However, it didn't appear to be working. It would take the hits but keep on fighting. And I was beginning to see stars. So I abandoned strategy and resorted to old fashioned brawling. Without waiting for him to recover, I attacked again and again with all of my strength. He tried to get into position for a good attack, but would quickly be put back by a well aimed one from me. I was using up the last of my energy, I knew. But would it be enough to win the battle?

I wouldn't find out right away, since I eventually stopped fighting, completely used. I still stayed on my paws, but couldn't see through the haze of exhaustion. I faintly heard a thud, and staggered for a moment before blacking out.

I was revived a few minutes later by a healing potion and a rare candy. Groaning, I looked around. Milly was cradling me in her arms, and putting down the potion bottle next to her. I was still tired. But we won, barely. I had collapsed just seconds after the last pokemon had fainted.

We had tied the world record.

Although I was ecstatic at this, I couldn't do more than smile a little. I took a few naps throughout the day, and we got back onto the bike and found the cheapest local hotel. Tomorrow, we start the final leg of our journey, to end at our house. I cannot wait for that. I am excited for the festive holiday season again. I cannot wait to be at a familiar place. I cannot wait to sleep in a bed for once. And most of all, I cannot wait to be reunited with Glaceon.

Your excited Sylveon,

-Takao
