Competition: Day Ten

We woke up early again. No matter the occasion or holiday, we would be awake before the sun, practicing for the day's competition. Today is finals, and we will be squaring up with the other best team in the competition.

This morning's practice went well, with Yui practicing with us. She has become synced well with the rest of the team, and Milly decided she would battle with us today. I requested that Yui and I fight at the same time.

There was a lot of press time before we went to make final preparations. We answered questions about the competition and such, posed for more pictures and went off to our rooms prepare for the final battle in the competition.

The battle was doubtless the most intense one I've ever fought in. I saw Buizel and Floatzel bring down one pokemon before they were taken down, Dewmaru and Serperior returned with a three-knockout performance, and then it was my and Yui's turn to fight.

The battle was dead even. It was sink or swim, and both of us were ready to give our all in this battle.

So we did.

Everything we had learned and trained, fought and worked for, we left it all on the arena floor that battle. I used every attack I knew. Yui and I were in perfect sync. It was almost a dance.

Yui fell before me. She was quickly returned to the pokeball. Soon, I brought down one of the opposing pokemon, an Usaring. So with a final heave of strength, I unleashed a swath of attacks. The last opponent did the same, also on the edge of defeat.

In the flurry of desperate combat, I was struck several times, and eventually went down, and didn't remember anything until I was revived a minute or so later.

The crowd was cheering loudly. Someone had won.

I groggily looked up at the bracket on the jumbotron.

In the very middle of the screen, between the two finalist names, was a name flashing brightly. I squinted my eyes and read the name.

In the champion spot in the bracket was Milly's name.

So that night, we celebrated like never before. We attended a dance party, where there was lots of loud music. We posed for pictures. We signed autographs. We were world champions.

Milly forfeited the spot on the Elite Four, like I expected. It fell to the second place winner.

Yui and I left the celebration early and went back to the hotel, as battling followed by ardent partying can be very demanding.

I've come a long way from being a little, frightened Eevee. We've all come very far. Milly is world champion. Yui and I are together. And speaking of together, I think I had better sign off early; we have some things we would like to do before everyone else comes back.

Until then, I must conclude this journal. Things have come full circle.

Until next time, if there is one, goodbye.

Author's Notes

Well, here it is. I suppose it was about time I wrapped this book up. Not bad.

Will there be  a sequel? I don't know. It depends rather heavily on how this book does. It's been a while in the making, but we've finally come to the conclusion.

Thanks for reading,
