Prompt: Darkness to light.

Glimmer

Tam stared into the darkness of her hood, hanging over her face, concealing her identity. Ever since Glimmer had come to live with him and Lihn, he had had the urge to tear off that hood. He would stare into her eyes, her long black hair would fall around her shoulders. He would gasp, because he knew exactly who she was. Then he would whip out his Imparter, and hail everyone, and they would all discuss what to do. He would be a hero. Maybe Biana would even appreciate him more. Well– maybe all of them would appreciate him more... maybe–
But he couldn't shake from his head, the moment Glimmer had freed him from his bonds. The surge of freedom. His ability restored. Now Glimmer had the freedom of protection. And did he really have the heart to steal that? Did he have the heart to take from her, what she had given to him?
   She had risked her life. Stepping away, he sighed.
   "Look, Glimmer," he paused to think, "I'm assuming you aren't going to tell me your identity, so I thought we would make a deal. A deal from Dark to Light. And Light to Dark. You tell me, and Elwin, and Wylie Endal–both Flashers–how you made my bonds, and we'll stop asking you what your identity. I mean, it sounds like a fair deal..." he trailed off, as he noticed Glimmer staring at him. His cheeks flushed as he realized how stupid he must have sounded rambling on like that. His cheeks flushed even brighter, when Glimmer began to speak in soft tones.
   "Tam. I will tell you my identity, and only you. But only for information in return. I'll tell you who I am if you tell me why you avoided me and my friendship when you first joined the Neverseen."
   She turned her head away. "But you must tell the truth, or I won't tell you anything."
   "But what about the bonds..."
   "Those are another matter."
   "Fine, I'll go get Lihn..."
   "Just you." Her voice was stern, yet calm.
"You have to agree, or else the deal is off." She offered her hand for him to shake.
"Fine. I'll tell you." He took her hand, and shook it lightly.
"You tell me first." They both said in unison. They glared at each other for the better part of a minute. Finally Tam broke the silence, and said: "I'll tell you first, fine. But as long as I can hold your hand the whole time." He blushed as he soon as he said it. "So you can't leap away," he amended quickly.
"Okay," she said, raising her arm to his.
"So uh, the reason I didn't take your friendship was because, um, well." He stopped, then spilled his whole life. He told her about Lihn and his banishment, and how her powers had become out of control. How he had met Sophie and her friends, and all their adventures together. All of the attacks from the Neverseen, and all about Wylie and Tiergan taking him and Lihn in to live with them. By the time he had finished, Glimmer was nodding.
Finally, she said: "I understand, Tam. So I guess I should keep my end of the bargain. Tam, my true name is..."
