For Better or For Worse: Part 1
Small thuds could be heard from behind the door of a moderately sized and decorated bedroom. A hall was on the other side of the door, and a brunette was resting on the queen sized bed inside the room. The thud noises belonged to her girlfriend, an average sized girl who often wore heels into the house, but never into the bedroom. The brunette on the bed was Tori Vega, an achieved musician and actress within a rather popular school for the visual and sense-appealing arts. Jade, the girl in heels who had been approaching the closed bedroom door, also went to this school. While a little more agresssive in personality, she was a wonderful actress and singer. She almost never broke character when applied into a scene, and given a character to play. Almost never. The two girls don't talk about the contest.
Anyway, it was raining outside. Jade didn't particularly enjoy the rain, but that didn't stop her from working night shift for a couple extra dollars from her part-time job as a waitress. It was around 2am, a little after closing time for the restaurant Jade worked at. Tori worked day-shift at a nearby horse-riding facility, which made most of its money off of donations. Tori was on her feet almost all day, and when she wasn't, she was on her butt on top of a horse. Jade was on her feet for most of the night, so needless to say, they were both very tired by the time they got home each night. This night in particular was special, though. Jade was waitressing for a group of teens around their age, and one of the girl's recognized Jade. It was one of her middle school girlfriends before Beck, and the blonde teenager recognized Jade almost instantly. This being said, the goth girl was irritable now. Both this blonde ex and the rain had stacked up to make Jade extra irritable tonight, and that was apparent by the fact that she had worn her heels up the stairs and down most of the hallway leading towards the girls shared bed.
Tori had only been dozing off, if not, napping lightly. So, she had heard the soft thud, maybe clacking, of Jade's heels on their wooden floor. The brunette slowly sat up, yawned, and looked at the clock that rested on a small nightstand next to the bed.
2:18 am
Jade slowly opened the bedroom door, taking off her 2 inch tall boots and gently setting them outside the door, on a small mat that was set just outside the bedroom. Shoes were deemed illegal in the bedroom by the two, due to past mistakes that they would both rather not talk about. Tori turned, looking at her girlfriend and smiling, scooting over so Jade could lay down next to her. "Was there no traffic tonight? You're like.... four, maybe five minutes early," Tori pointed out, laying down and opening her arms for either a hug from Jade, or for the girl to just plop down between them.
"Same amount of traffic," Jade huffed, taking off her shirt and pants, revealing shorts and a sports bra underneath.
Tori watched her girlfriend, raising a brow at the shorts underneath her girlfriend's pants. "You.... never cease to amaze me," she chuckled, smiling gently. "I think this is a new level of laziness," she said, scooching over just a bit more so Jade would have a little more room.
"Nah, I've always been this lazy. You're just too lazy to recognize it," Jade smiled, laying down in Tori's arms and hugging around her waist, nuzzling her pale face into the tanner girl's neck.
"Hey, you've still got makeup on," Tori giggled softly, forgetting that she's the one who basically motioned for her to lay down and sleep.
Groaning, Jade sat up, stretching and popping a few joints in her back before clambering out of the bed and walking to their shared bathroom. "You always find a way to ruin the moment," Jade said from the bathroom, grabbing a washcloth and wetting it.
"You always find a way to make it easy," Tori responsed, earning a grunt from the bathroom. Letting out a soft sigh, Tori sat up as well, smoothly getting off of the bed and walking over to Jade, who was in the process of scrubbing her face with a warm and damp washcloth. "Tell me why you were so early, Jade. You're a stickler for staying until the last minute in work," Tori said, wrapping her arms around the girl's waist and nuzzling up against her back.
Jade was cornered, and she knew it. Sighing, the goth girl set down the washcloth, looking at herself in the mirror to see if she missed any spots. "I guess I just hit fewer lights," she shrugged, scrubbing an area right above her eye to get some darker makeup off, that had been a little difficult to get off.
Tori frowned. "Alright, I guess we're playing that game," she said, unwrapping her arms from Jade's waist. She walked back to the bed, sitting on the edge of it and waiting for her girlfriend to finish up. "Okay, so there are.... about four lights, maybe five, that are from here to the restruant. Each one runs for let's say 30 seconds, and that equals about two extra minutes of wait time. If you were to hit each one every day, except for today, you'd still be two minutes later than you were today, assuming you were going the speed limit, except for the highway, which we all know nobody does. So, tell me Jade, why were you so early tonight?" Tori asked again, a little firmer in her question.
Jade sighed, washing out her washrag and setting it over a hanger to air dry. She turned off the light to the bathroom, and walked back to the bed, coming relatively face-to-face with her girlfriend. "Alright. You and your big brain caught me. I ran a couple yellows I could've stopped at, and sped a little. What's the big deal?" Jade asked, straddling Tori's waist and wrapping her arms around her girlfriends shoulders.
"The big deal is that it's late out, and despite how nocturnal you are, you still get tired. What if there was a deer or something? Or worse? A cop? What if you were speeding a little too much, and you got pulled over, or you crashed?" Tori asked, wrapping her arms around Jade's waist and holding her close. "I know you get tired, maybe even a little irritable at night, but please be careful. We don't know what's out there at these times," Tori said, kissing her girlfriend's cheek gently.
"Or who," Jade huffed, smiling at the kiss she got and softly setting her forehead on Tori's shoulder.
Tori raised a brow. "Hm?" She hummed, laying back on the bed while still holding Jade close to her. "Did you meet an old rival or something at work? Is that why you're a little cranky tonight?" Tori asked with a smile, softly poking Jade's side.
"The exact opposite," Jade sighed, rolling over and off of Tori to get into a more roomy spot on the bed, which happened to be Tori's spot on the bed.
"The exact opposite of an old rival is literally me, Jade," the brunette pointed out, laying next to Jade and twirling some of the strands of her girlfriend's green-dyed hair in her pointer finger.
"Okay, so not the exact opposite, but kinda. Remember me telling you about Emma?" Jade asked, closing her eyes and not really minding as Tori played with her hair. That happened a lot when the girl was either bored, or trying to stay awake when tired. It meant that she was listening, at this moment.
"Of course. Old girlfriend, had a dog, dog didn't like dog, the usual," Tori smiled, nuzzling Jade's shoulder and moving ever so slightly closer to her girlfriend.
"Sure," Jade laughed gently, taking Tori's free hand and kissing the knuckles. Her girlfriend was tired, it was obvious. Emma didn't have a dog, it was a lizard. She didn't have to tell Tori that, though. Sometimes it was best to just let Tori be right. "Anyway, she was at the restaurant until like 1:30 am tonight, with a group of her friends," Jade explained vaguely, closing her eyes and yawning.
Tori nodded and slowly sat up, grabbing the big fluffy blanket they often used. "Did she annoy you?" She asked, pulling the blanket over her shoulders and over Jade as she laid on top of her girlfriend.
"Kinda," Jade shrugged, her eyelids growing heavier as she nuzzled into Tori's neck, letting out another yawn.
"Is that why you sped?" She asked, smiling as she was getting to the bottom of the little mystery. Jade nodded, seeming to begin to doze off. "Okay. We'll talk a little more about it in the morning," Tori said, hugging her girlfriend and falling asleep, followed by Jade falling asleep as well.
((Hey Guys! I am back, if you haven't noticed. I am taking requests for one-shot and full story ideas, and maybe even some roleplay ideas if you're one of my roleplaying followers that likes to read what I've done. I've had this account for about two years, a little more, and I can honestly say that I've improved over the years. However, I'm not perfect, so if you see any typos or grammar errors, please don't hesitate to tell me. I want everything to be as good as it can be. I'll also be going through the other chapters, making them a little better and longer, and yeah! Thanks for reading, and I'm out!))
