Chapter Fifty-Nine // {jordan's pov}
›
My eyes fluttered open to be met with the harsh morning light. I yawned and turned over to face Rick -- or where Rick was meant to be. My eyes widened in worry.
"Shit," I cursed, throwing the sheets off of me. I quickly stripped and put on a green and white flannel and a pair of navy jeans. I shoved my shoes on and quickly laced them up. Rick was supposed to leave early in the morning. I flung the bedroom door open and rushed out of the bedroom frantically to find him. I had to say good bye.
›››‹‹‹ {carl's pov -- earlier that day}
A lot had been on my mind recently. I was going to have another sibling. I was secretly hoping it would be a boy and that we would both look after, but also tease Judith. If it was a girl, her and Judith would gang up on me.
Another thing was the fact my Dad was leaving today on mission to get rid of thousands of walkers. Which is a good and bad idea. It could go wrong so easily and my Dad would be out there! Luckily, Jordan -- My Mom, isn't allowed to leave Alexandria, according to my Dad anyway. My job is to make sure she didn't leave whilst he is gone and if he does... not come back, I have to make sure she stays here. I would step up and make sure she and the baby stays alive and healthy. I would. I had to.
"Dad!" I yelled out, running over to him. He turned around, looking slightly concerned.
"Where's Mom?" I questioned. It felt weird to call Jordan, Mom sometimes. I had to get used to it. She is my only motherly figure in my life now.
"Asleep, why?" he raised an eyebrow, completely oblivious. I frowned at him.
"You're not even going to say goodbye to her? She'll be broken if you don't come back!" I snapped. He could be so stupid sometimes, I swear.
"Carl, I will come back," he answered, glancing behind him at the cars being packed.
"No, you can't promise that. When are you going to marry her? You love her, don't you?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him. He huffed in annoyance at my questions. Good.
"Of course I do, Carl. I have to go..." Dad avoided my eyes. I shook my head at him.
"You can't do that!" I yelled, my eyes widening.
"Carl."
"I can't believe you, Dad... I thought you loved her..." I mumbled, quieting down.
"I do! I can't, not right now," he snapped, keeping his voice down. He glared at me.
"Lori is dead! She isn't your wife anymore! She cheated on you with Shane! Jordan would never do that!" My Dad gasped at me no longer calling her my Mom. She was my Mom, she always would be my Mom, but I had to move on and so did he.
"Not now, Carl. Go home, I will see you later today," and with that Dad walked off to the rest of the people going on this run. I shook my head in disgust. I thought he was over my real Mom..
›››‹‹‹ {jordan's pov -- normal time}
I skipped every second step as I ran downstairs. I had to see him before he left.
"Mom!" Carl yelled from the living room. I stopped turning to him.
"Where's your Dad?" I questioned, worried that he had already left.
"He left two hours ago..." the teenager replied, looking down to the ground. My eyebrows furrowed.
"He already left.." I mumbled, now frowning. I walked into the kitchen, I was starving. I couldn't believe he left.
"He didn't want to wake you, said you needed to rest," Carl spoke, trying to make me feel better. He sat down at the kitchen bench, leaning on his left arm.
"Oh right, I forgot! I'm pregnant, I need to rest," I answered sarcastically, "I'm not even a month along!"
Carl sighed, "Judith's asleep upstairs." I nodded in reply.
I grabbed three granola bars. It would do. I tore the packaging open and took a bite from the bar. They're so plain...
"He'll come back," Carl said hopefully, smiling up at me.
"I know he will, Carl," I sighed, taking another bite.
"Then why are you so annoyed with him for not waking you?" he questioned, clearly interested.
"Don't worry, Carl.. I just worry a lot," I smiled sadly. I sat down beside him and I finished my granola bars. We sat in silence.
Gunshots suddenly erupted, startling us both. I quickly got up from my seat and ran to the window. People were running with something on their foreheads. They all head melee weapons in their hands. I watched as one of them went up to an Alexandria and cut his head off cleanly.
"Carl! Get upstairs with Judith, now! Keep her safe! Don't leave the house!" I yelled, pushing him towards the stairs.
"No! Mom! You can't go out there!" he yelled, resisting against me.
"For fucks sake, just go! I'm second in charge and Rick's gone! I have to go, Carl! Please!" Carl looked frightened and nodded frantically before rushing upstairs.
I took a sharp breath of air in. I picked up my desert eagle just as the front door swung open. A man with a 'W' on his head was there with a knife in his hand. He looked shocked to see me standing there. I shot him without a second thought. I will defend this place. I will defend it for my children.
I jogged over to his body. Why did he have a 'W' on his forehead?
I ran outside and stepped into the chaos. Alexandrians were screaming and shooting. Death.. Death was everywhere.
A man screamed from beside me, jumping on top of me. I made sure to land on my side. I yelped as I hit the ground. Pain shot through my hip. I ignored it as I tried keeping the man's dagger away from me.
My left hand's fingertips grazed my gun lying on the ground beside me. I could grab it if I wiggled down a little.
I shoved the man as hard as I could making him fall off of me and onto the grass. I stood up and picked up my gun, aiming at his head. He glared and lunged towards me, not surrendering. I pulled the trigger, ending his life. The man dropped onto the ground in a pile. This was going to be tough, they were ruthless. They weren't afraid.
A loud crash startled me and everyone else besides the 'W' people. A loud horn started going off. It was non-stop. My eyes widened realising it's attract walkers. Shit.
I ran as fast as I could to get to the front gates. I had to turn that horn off. I pulled open the gate and stepped out, looking towards the tower. A truck crashed into the wall beside it. I sprinted over to it, seeing Spencer just stare at a walker inside the truck's cabin. I went up behind him and pulled him back, allowing me to kill the walker. The horn stopped -- finally.
"What the hell, Spencer!" I yelled, whipping around to face him. He looked guilty for not stopped the horn earlier.
I sighed, "I'm sorry, I'm just really nervous."
Spencer nodded and offered a small smile. I beckoned him to follow me. On our way to the gates, we bumped into Maggie and Deanna.
"We need to get inside," Maggie exclaimed, facing Deanna who was looking at her son.
"I can't go in there. I don't have a gun, I don't know how to fight. If I go inside, I'll just be another person who's got to be saved. Best thing that I can do for everyone in there is to stay out here," Deanna explained to Maggie.
I turned to Spencer, "keep her safe."
Spencer nodded, "I will."
I watched as they went back over to the truck, I turned to Maggie.
"We have to kill them all -- or at least as many as possible. Too many of us are dead already," I exclaimed, my heart was racing and I was slightly out of breath.
"You shouldn't be out here, Jordan!" Maggie frowned at me. I rolled my eyes.
"You sound like Rick..." I trailed off, it hurt to think that he was out there without me by his side. He could be dead.
"Jordan.. he's fine, Glenn's fine. They're all fine. We need to get rid of these people, c'mon!" Maggie and I ran back into the gates, surprisingly, a lot of them were dead already, but twice the amount of us were dead.
My eyes drifted over to a man with an axe, he was almost circling around Morgan. Morgan just stood there with his stick thing, holding it steady.
"Look after yourself, alright?" I yelled to maggie before I sprinted over to Morgan. As I neared, I pulled out my machete from my weapon's belt and held it by my side.
Just as the man went to swing at Morgan, I stabbed the man in the back of the neck. He dropped to the floor.
"He was going to leave," Morgan stated calmly, not bothered by any of this. I raised an eyebrow.
"He was going to kill you," I remarked, rolling my eyes.
"You don't always have to kill, Jordan!" he spoke as I reached down to the man to check for any other weapons.
I stood up to my full height and walked over to him.
"You don't think I already know that?" I questioned, glaring at him, "a simple thank you would be appreciated."
I left him there in his own thoughts. I ran down the street, looking for more of the 'W' people. Bodies and body parts littered the street. The road was stained with blood. I neared our house and decided to go inside and pray everyone was okay. I opened the door and was met with a gun to the face.
"Mom!" Carl put the gun down and wrapped his hands around me. Enid stood behind him with Judith in her arms.
I smiled at her. Carl backed off and locked the door behind me.
"How bad was it? What was that loud noise?" Carl suddenly threw questions at me, eager to know what was happening.
I lightly pushed past him and Enid. They were following me. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.
"These people with the letter 'W' on their forehead are running around with melee weapons, killing people.. I don't know who they are, they don't surrender," I explained, "the noise was a truck crashing into a wall. I'm assuming it was aiming for the gates."
Carl groaned in annoyance.
"Sorry for pointing the gun at you," he apologised. I smiled, letting him know it was fine.
"We moved that body that was inside out the back. We cleaned up too," Enid added, passing Judith to Carl.
"Thank you, especially for keeping her safe," I thanked, referring to Judy. She was fast asleep in Carl's arms. She was so calm in this world of terror and death.
"Is it over?" Enid asked, sideways glancing at Carl.
I sighed, "I don't know.. A lot of them are dead and a lot of us are too."
"Mom.. will you promise to not get mad at me the way Dad would if I told him what I'm going to tell you?" Carl questioned, giving me a worried glance.
I frowned at him, "what did you do, Carl?"
"I had to go out and shoot one of them, he was going to kill Ron!" Carl explained, rushing his speech. I held a hand up to tell him to calm down.
"It's fine.. you did the right thing. Where's Ron now?" I questioned, worried for the kid's safety.
"He refused to come inside. He hates you and Dad," he replied, biting his lip. I huffed, of course he hated me, I killed his Dad.

We all were sat down at the kitchen bench. Enid flinched at every gunshot that went off outside. Carl and I were used to it. We put Judith upstairs. We'd protect this house. We didn't know when it'd be over.
The front door slammed open, I jumped up from my seat and automatically aimed towards the doorway. Maggie stepped into view. I lowed my gun, but kept it at my side.
"It's over. They're all gone," she announced. I sighed and holstered my gun. I was tired of this. Maggie walked over to me and put a hand on my shoulder.
"You should rest, go upstairs. I'll look after the kids for you," Maggie whispered. I nodded, looking back at Carl who was talking to Enid in a hushed voice.
I pulled away from Maggie's grasp, her arm dropping from my shoulder. I slowly walked upstairs.
