Part 1 - Chapter 6: Abandoned Factory

Endless horizon formed from the ocean and clouds spread out as far as Kim Dokja could see. Around him, several other units ahead were engaging in combat with robots of various shapes. He pulled himself to the side, narrowingly evading a bright red laser.

So far, the only thing he could do was control the direction of the flight unit and shoot enemies, every other action including communicating or changing flying speed was disabled. That meant this must be the tutorial stage.

Starting with a mecha aerial fight? The boys will go crazy with this.

As the final flight unit next to him was shot down, he heard his own voice said:

"...4B down."

Under him, the vast empty ocean started to be replaced with ruins of factories and buildings. In the far front, the giant factory complex stood above the sea like a hibernating leviathan. Rusted girders stretch out like skeletal arms, their jagged edges reaching for the sky amidst the salt-sprayed air.

The armor flew right into the narrow entrance against Kim Dokja's will, but as the tutorial still hadn't finished, he could only control the unit to evade countless obstacles and attack the enemies approaching. The tunnel gradually narrowed down, a metal 'wall' blocked his view, signaling that this was a dead end. But his flight armor had no intention of slowing down, instead, it was speeding up.

Sensing what 'he' was about to do, Kim Dokja reflexively closed his eyes. However, no painful death or black screen followed, only a loud crash exploded as it crashed open the gate. Countless chaotic notifications voice rang in his ears. It was Etti's, although they sounded like she recorded it beforehand. The armor broke into pieces, mixed with debris and metal scraps. He saw himself jump out of the flight unit and landed gently on the ground.

A perfect hero landing.

[---Activating short-range attack gear.]

The notification finally came to an end.

The sense of Kim Dokja's blindfold was still on his face, but his eyesight showed no sign of being obstructed. Instead, it even enhanced his vision. On the edge, he saw lines of icons floating in front of him like holograms, forming a game menu consisting of level, map, HP bar, inventory... So that blindfold was actually a google?

His body control still hadn't returned, wasn't this tutorial a bit too long?

I have to give Etti reviews on this.

Etti's voice appeared again, more lively this time. Kim Dokja could tell that this was her and not a pre-recorded tape, but...

[Alert: Large enemies group detected.]

"Why are you talking like that?"

[Answer: Because I'm just your system notifications~]

"...Haha."

With that, his body control finally returned. The feeling that the Android body gave was very different, he tested a few movements pre-installed in the Android system. If this were his original body, these movements could easily break a tendon or two, but right now he could perform it with ease.

Yoo Joonghyuk said his main weapon was a sword before, however when swinging a real one in hand, he still couldn't recall anything, not a single familiarity. The thought troubled him a bit, but he soon returned his focus on eliminating enemies. For some reason, he felt rather... chilly?

Kim Dokja still could feel the fabrics of his original clothes, yet it was like the cold could seep right through them. It was a very suspicious sensation, combined with memories of how Etti changed his outfit before, he had an ominous feeling.

As early-stage enemies, the enemies were pretty weak, so it didn't take him much time to clear. Etti soon notified him - a little strange that she spoke less than her days as Game Master, but she sounded much happier:

[Enemies destroyed~]

Kim Dokja's reliable instincts informed him otherwise:

"Not quite."

The ground suddenly shook with the sound of the engine growing louder. He immediately lowered his posture, successfully evaded a giant chainsaw that just broke through the wall, sending countless pieces of debris flying. Strong light immediately followed, clearly shaping the outline of a giant robot arm connected to a circular chainsaw blade outside.

"Is that the target?"

[Negative, this enemy is unrelated. Proposal: Dispatch it as swiftly as possible.]

"What kind of useless proposal is that?"

Still, how was he supposed to destroy that thing with just a sword? No matter how he looked at it, that thing would break his sword with one single swing. Kim Dokja glanced at the sword in his hand, then quickly opened his inventory and found another sword there.

The moment he equipped it, the sword floated next to him in an ethereal manner, almost reaching 2 meters. Holding on to the last bit of hope in the unrealistic aspect, he swung his sword towards the incoming saw blade. A great shock immediately shook his arm and shattered the blade.

Kim Dokja immediately turned around, sliding under the circulating blades while evading the debris toward the open wall. Since his weapon was useless, the best way was to locate where its engine was. No matter what, Etti wouldn't mess up such basic details. While running, the giant arm had never left his back, sending tremors every time it swung.

Countless exoskeletons were also impacted, pipelines and girders collapsed one by one. Kim Dokja could see machine lifeforms similar to the ones that attacked him fall into the ocean. Almost a quarter of the complex had been damaged, yet, nothing similar to a control cabin or engine could be seen. Etti panicked and called him:

[Wait, don't leave the stage zone, it's not---]

Kim Dokja's body suddenly jolted up, as if being struck by lightning. In fact, visible glitched sparks could be seen around him, along with a message popped up:

[Abandon mission is prohibited, please return to the mission area immediately.]

There was no pain, but he could see himself frozen and staggered. From the outside, this must have looked quite dramatic. In that short time, the chainsaw had caught up, giving Kim Dokja only enough time to use the scabbard to protect himself, before being forcefully knocked away.

Thank goodness his Android body was sturdy, so he didn't get chopped up right on the spot. Still, it felt like all the air in his lungs was being punched out, while his side was being smashed. After rolling a few rounds on the wide bridge, he finally could squeeze out some words:

"Please reduce the feeling of accuracy when receiving hits before release... this game will be sued at this rate."

[...Answer: Got it.]

Kim Dokja was thrown so far away that even the mechanical arm was no longer visible. The damage on his body was pretty bad, glitches flashed and shook his vision, even without the blindfold-shaped google. However, his current location was exactly where his mission pointed him to, with the only exception that there was no enemy in sight. Taking this chance, he decided to give his new Android body a proper look.

With one glance, his whole body froze.

...No wonder he had been feeling windy!

The long-sleeved white turtleneck dress clung to his form, its open cleavage obscured by a lace-patterned fabric. The back was also open, exposing his shoulder blades down to half of his back, sending a chilly shiver up his spine.

As if that wasn't bold enough, the skirt of the dress revealed a daring high slit, its fabric supple and reminiscent of leather. Beneath the thigh-high leather boots, a thin layer of white horse-riding pants discreetly shielded him from exposure, though in his eyes, it was just one step away from paper tights.

Admittedly, the design was great, but that was only if a girl wore it. Did this game not have male Android outfit !?

Before he could complain to Etti, the sound of the engine rang out again, this time even louder. Two giant cranes slid out along the tracks next to the bridge, but instead of hooks, it was equipped with large circular saw blades, identical to the machine before. With a loud screech, it hammered its blades onto Kim Dokja, while the other one broke the bridge, blocking his path.

While hurriedly evading, he couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity.

****

When Yoo Joonghyuk reached the coast, half of the abandoned factory was smoking. A crane arm was swinging frantically on one side, breaking the facilities on its path. He didn't even need to guess to know whose work this was. Next to his ear, Loki whispered admiringly:

"So this is the destructive power of Etti's Chosen One... Ahem, without his flight armor, the last remaining Android unit had no way to counter those giant enemies, so he could only rely on wits while making them destroy each other."

Yoo Joonghyuk could see a figure in white jumping on girders and containers from his location. Based on his agility while evading debris and attack, Kim Dokja must have been doing really well. Until he suddenly froze up on the spot, as if being struck by something invisible. White electricity sparks flashed around his body, he staggered, almost collapsed.

The crane did not miss the chance to strike and knocked him over the bridge on the other side. Yoo Joonghyuk couldn't see him anymore, but there was no way that he could escape with light injuries. Wasting no time, he violently kicked away a giant robot, as if it was just a plus-size garbage. From here, he could see two other cranes slid out and started attacking the bridge. Loki annoyingly kept him informed:

"The Android had been severely damaged from the hit earlier, making his movement much slower, but it was also the time for his unit's special evading skill to shine! By making use of the afterimage formed from the skill, he had successfully made these two crash hard into each other, completely immobilizing them! However, this was just the beginning."

Over the bridge, two collapsed cranes reactivated, but instead of attacking, it retreated to its former position. If Android can sweat, Kim Dokja must be sweating profusely right now.

"Is that—"

On the map at the corner, a red spot marking his mission's target - which had been covering the whole complex, finally made sense.

[Target enemy detected.]

With a series of loud screeches and one single jump, a colossal robot landed in front of the broken bridge, staring directly at Kim Dokja. A giant line floated above its HP bar:

[Engels]
