Untitled Part 2
*i haven't watched Lord of the rings, as I've said, so I am creating how I think it would have gone. Plus this has Kili, Lee, and Jol, so would be different either way.*
As the fellowship left, three other hobbits joined us, Merry, Pippin and Sam, all friends of Frodo. Le silently watched as I conversed easily with them, thinking about how much I changed.
When I lived back with him, I never talked to anyone unless talked to.
I never grew close to anyone, not even him. Now I'm close to everyone.
I always kept to myself. Now I share freely.
I never spoke against anyone unless it was for family or friends. Now I don't take anyone's crap.
I was never confident in anything. Now I'm completely confident in everything.
I was never responsible. Now I'm responsible for saving hundreds of lives.
I was always taking hits, not ever saying anything to stop them. Now I fight back.
I was not the same little sister he had growing up. Never will be again.
The fellowship traveled far, but we were not even close to Mordor. Along the way Lee stayed silent but one night he took me to the side after an especially hard fight with some left over Orcs.
Lee: we need to go home.
Jol: I've told you brother, I can't le-
Lee: we can and we will!
Jol: So you would just take me away from the life I made here? And would you leave the other two back at Rivendell?
Lee: *now raising his voice, catching Legolas' attention* I don't see why you don't want to go home!
Legolas: *walks over* what is with the shouting?
Lee: none of your concern.
Jol: *glaring at Lee* do not speak to him that way.
Lee: now this is what I mean Jol! You are not the same! This place has changed you way to much! You need to come home before you are too far gone!
A deep animalistic growl thrums deep in my throat, making both Lee and Legolas take a step back.
Jol: *the growl still echoing* you dare say what is good for me?! You have ignored me my whole life and never once got to know ME! We were family! You sat by as everyone back home ridiculed me, judged me, yelled at me for things I can't control! I've been done with that and have a better life now, and now you 'notice' things, wanting me to go back to what I left behind?! Ridiculous! Now I'm going to finish this quest and take you back to Rivendell to see if YOU can find a way back to YOUR home. This conversation is done.
I stormed away from them, past the camp and into the woods next to it. I needed some alone time.
The next day, when the sun was about to rise over the horizon, I was sat by the slowly burning fire. I paid no mind when I felt someone sit by my side.
An awkward silence ensued, until a cough left the man's throat.
It was Aragorn.
He started to speak in Elvish.
Aragorn: what happened last night?
Jol: my brother being a pain. *sigh* some things never change...
Aragorn: if it helps, we are here for you no matter what.
I smiled as I wrapped my arm around his shoulders and gave him a side hug.
Jol: Thank you Strider.
Suddenly I noticed that the air seemed to become thick as everything became quiet.
Too quiet.
I shot up from my seat, Asgaroth drawn as I jumped forward, killing an orc as it jumped out of the bushes.
Jol: Get up! Everyone!
I fought off the oncoming orcs as the fellowship scrambled up to help, Aragorn at my side fighting in moments.
The orcs kept coming and coming, I could hardly fight them off as they seemed to aim for me and the hobbits.
I lost track of the hobbits and Lee in the midst of the fighting, only able to spare glances to see where they could have gone before I get attacked by another orc.
I suddenly heard Lee's cry for help, turning to the side I saw an orc about to plunge his sword through him. I did the only thing I could think of.
I flung myself in front of the orc, taking the blow to my stomach, killing it in the process. I ignored the pain as I fought off the rest of the orcs, not noticing at the moment that the orcs have taken the hobbits and started to retreat.
After the last orc ran, I stood straight, listening as the others grouped back together to check for losses. I didn't hear or feel Legolas as he set a hand on my shoulder before I fell forward, not able to stand any longer.
I didn't hear Aragorn or Legolas as they shouted, nor did I feel my body when it hit the ground or when someone flipped me onto my back.
I couldn't feel anything, I could hardly hear them as they spoke frantically, I saw blurry images as they moved about.
I reached up to the sky, trying to steady my mind when a large hand grasped mine. I tried to focus my eyes on the person to see the blurry form of Legolas as he cradled my head, tears building in his eyes.
For a moment I mistook him for Oropher. I never noticed how alike they were till now.
I wonder...will I see them soon?
I smiled numbly as he pressed my cold hand to his cheek. My eyes felt heavy and as my vision slowly turned dark I heard muffled cry's.
Then everything turned dark.
Where was I?
Everything was dark, but there was a light. I heard two familiar voices as I seemed to get closer, the light getting bigger and as I stepped into it, I felt a pair a arms wrap around me before I heard his voice. I looked up at his face to see Oropher.
Oropher: *a soft smile on his face* Melon, good to see you again.
I heard a gruff voice come from our side, looking over I saw Durin standing proud with his arms crossed and chest puffed out.
Durin: 'bout time! We been waitin' forever ye know!
With tears in my eyes I scooped Durin into a tight hug, lifting him off the ground. He yelled out but hugged back, Oropher laughing and joining in on the long awaited hug.
Pulling away from the hug, I smiled at them in happiness. Glad to be with my old friends again.
