2: Harsh Talking
It was getting dark and all the kids were asleep, but Faith hadn't come home yet.
"I'm getting worried," Sarah panicked, "what if...what if something happened to her!?"
"I've messaged Cabaji, and Jackson and they're out looking for her," Buggy said, as he brought her a cup of hot chocolate, "the police know too. Maybe you could speak to your uncle Bruce about it also? I could go out too I was just worried about leaving you here by yourself with the kids."
Suddenly the door opened for it was Faith.
"Faith! Where have you been!?"
"None of your da** business!" Faith snapped.
"Hey!" Buggy snapped back, "the police are out there looking for you, young lady! You're going to have to explain to them where you've been. And when you speak to your mother try using a little respect. Now apologize. I won't have you bring that attitude into my home. And if you try to pull another stunt like this, I'll have you put into protective custody. And you really wouldn't want that!"
"....," Sarah was shocked he said that, "no, don't..."
"FINE! I rather be there than here! I hate Mom! If Dad is gone, what's the point in staying!?" Faith yelled at him.
"Oh we're shouting now are we. You don't want me yelling back at you, sweetie, trust me I'm a lot LOUDER!" he then stood up and walked towards her, " Okay then....so you'll go and stay with great uncle Bruce in his really boring big house with no games or tv and spend the whole time confined to your room, which has locks on the windows.....hope you have fun with that."
"I will! It's be better than to see HER all the time! Daddy would've been still alive if she did something. She just let it happened."
"STOP!" Sarah cried, "Honey, you don't realize I kill myself everyday thinking about it! I loved your father and I still do!"
"If you did, why didn't you stop it?"
"...," Sarah didn't know how to answer to that.
"Listen to me, because I'm getting bored of repeating myself, Faith. Your mom and I did everything we could that night. Is it my fault that Binky and Lucy lost their mom? I already blame myself just like your mom does over your dad, and the truth is there was nothing we could do! In fact, you're lucky you still have your mom because you could've lost them both! I know you're angry, be angry, but if you want someone to blame.... blame me! Your mom was buried under a pile of crates, almost knocked out! I should've protected your dad he was my brother...so hate me! Not her!"
"No...you did everything you could..."
"Did I? How do you know? You weren't there. If you're so certain your mom didn't do enough, then what makes you so sure that I did?"
"You're more powerful than mom..."
"Faith, that's not the point," Sarah told her, "Faith, I still love your father and I always have. He risked his life to save me. Just like your aunt risked her own life to save your uncle. If it's anyone's fault, it's The Joker and Arlong's."
"....I hate you," she said under her breath.
"STOP IT!!" Buggy then yelled at her and grabbed her hand, "right, we're going to take a walk, young lady..."
Buggy took her into the garage which he'd converted into a training room, "right, you see all this?" he gestured to everything around them, "this is where your dad and me used to train. And you know it's really helpful to come in here and blow off some steam. Release all that angry energy. You might find it helpful. Also I can teach you to defend yourself in a fight. But if you want that to happen....you have to do what your dad would want. And he would want you to forgive your mother," he said softly.
"....," Faith then looked down. Suddenly she broke down.
"Awe, sweetheart... come here," Buggy then hugged the little girl tightly, "you cry as much as you need to. Let it all out."
"I'm sorry...I feel like it's my fault and I put the blame on her..."
"It's okay, Faith. You don't have to be sorry. When we loose someone we love it makes us all confused and angry. Just promise me in future, if you're hurting and need to talk, I'm here," he kissed her forehead and smiled slightly, "wanna go see your mom now? She loves you very much."
Faith nodded looking up at him.
He gently booped her nose and then took her hand and led her back to the living room where Sarah was.
"This little one has something to say," Buggy said softly.
"Mom...I'm really sorry. It's just I felt guilty, but I blamed you instead. I just...wish Daddy didn't go..."
Sarah sighed. She went to her and hugged her, "it's alright, honey. I miss him too. And wish the same. But we will see Daddy and Auntie Harley again. They are safe and that's all that matters now."
Buggy smiled slightly, tearing up. He then went into the kitchen to give them privacy. He then called the police and Cabaji and Jackson to tell them Faith was back.
