-Five years old-

Five year old you ran as fast as she could. Her mother trailing behind her majorly. Your pigtails flew behind you as you picked up your small feet as quickly as you could.

Y/n and her mother were on their way to the park. The reason that Y/n was always so happy was because she was going to her her best friend, Jack. You had never called him that though, Y/n always called him J.

When the two arrived, Y/n could already spot her friend and walked over to him proudly. They both smiled at each other and began to play at the playground.

Even being five and seven year olds, they both knew how fucked up the world was. Of course they didn't see it like that, but they knew about the things that were going on. They would talk about it as they swung on the swing-set, or even while climbing monkey bars. It was interesting to the both of them.

They could have played for hours, there were never any boring moments for the two. But the time they had both dreaded had only come am hour later. They both had to leave.

Luckily, they were going to the same school so they could get to see each other soon.

-10 Years Old-

Young Y/n sighed as she thought. Sitting in a classroom with her head leaning down on the table. The teacher just rambled on and on.

After the bell rang, which had signified that lunch would begin, all the students practically burst from their seats and ran down the hall. Y/n slowed down a bit in the hall and waited for J. Sadly they had different teachers, but they still hung out at recess and lunch.

"Hiya." Y/n waved at J happily as she saw her annoyed friend.
"Hi," he mumbed.
"What's wrong," she asked the sad boy.
"Nothing, everything's fine!" He said angrily. Y/n decided to shrug it off and get his mind off of it. Once the two best friends got their food they walked outside and sat under a tree.
They talked the entire lunch and endes up getting in trouble for missing most of class.

-Fifteen Years Old-

J and you were the best of friends. You two had stuck together through thick and thin. Everytime someone pushed you into a locker, he was there to beat their ass. Everytime someone had called you a name. J was there to call them worse.

You two weren't popular, that was for sure. But you were both known throughout the school. Just disliked by quite a bit of people.

J would always complain about how much life sucked. How boring things always were, to be honest, that's how he had always been. As kids you guys used to discuss the things that were going on in the world. They've always known it was fucked up.

Of course, Y/n didn't know what went on in his life though. His mom seemed like a nice woman, and he never seemed to bring up his dad. J had just never mentioned his family anymore.

Although Y/n wasn't worried about it, it was one of the last things on your mind considering J had always been happy around you.

-Twenty Years Old-

You had left Gotham when you were 16. It was one of the hardest things you've ever done, but one of your parents had gotten a promotion and you knew it was for the best.

You still lived out of Gotham and hadn't planned to go back anytime soon. You had heard stories of.how dangerous things had gotten there.

Y/n hasn't heard from J since she's left. He didn't have a phone so they really had no way to keep in contact. He could've been a completely different person.

He had never left your mind though. To this day, four years later, you still wondered what he was doing with himself. It worried you to think he could be somewhere living on the streets. You couldn't afford much, as you had wasted time and were going to school still not knowing what you wanted to be.

You were constantly loosing money, and still lived with your parents. Not exactly how you wanted your life to turn out but things didn't look like they were going to be changing anytime soon.

-Twenty-Five Years Old-

Y/n's life had been turned around. She had a good job, a boyfriend, and was even planning a family.

That all turned around the day her boyfriend told her he wanted to move to Gotham. She was exited, until bad things started happening.

You had gotten fired from your job, found your boyfriend cheating, and were currently stuck walking out in the rain. Someone then pushed her against the wall and held a gun to her head.

Her breathing grew heavy as she felt tears fall. Looking into the eyes of the person that was holding the gun, she then smiled.
"J," she said quietly.
The man looked at the woman, confused as to why she found this funny.
"Jack," she smiled even more. Making Joker even more confused, no one should know his name. He then looked at the girl in the eyes. He pulled the gun away as she wrapped her arms around him, Joker doing the same.

-Fifty Years Old-

I sighed as I looked at the old pictures. I was miserable. J had died when you were only 37.
13 years without the person I loved.

We had a life, we didn't get married. But we had two kids. They took over his business once he passed.

I wiggled the promise ring that I received from him years after finding each other. It hurt not waking up to see his face everyday.

It's been so long yet it still hurt so bad. Joker could've lived longer, but the bullet was too tough for the henchmen to remove. He was in so much pain that he just gave up.

I lied in bed and drifted off to sleep. As I dreamt I saw him. He was behind a door, holding his hand out. I looked down and saw my old body from when I was in my twenties.

Joker smiled at me.
"We're finally together again,"
