1: Suzie Q in Morioh
It has been almost a week since the greying Italian woman had arrived in Morioh town. But her planning had been going on far longer then just a week.
Suzie Q Joestar had been quite bitter once she found out about her husband's affair with Tomoko Higashikata, and bringing into the world an illegitimate child to boot! But soon enough her anger subsided. Of course Joseph had gone to visit the child, his son, Josuke Higashikata.
Joseph ended up bringing home another baby, as if they really needed that. But, of course she welcomed the stand wielding invisible baby anyway, making Shizuka her second daughter. But besides that Joseph wouldn't talk much about visiting Morioh.
Jotaro on the other hand was a lovely grandson and told her quite a bit. How Josuke was a respectful young boy who had lovely friends and upheld the Joestar legacy and family name, because of his selflessness and bravery during their adventure they had finding a serial killer who was also a Stand user and had protected their town. Suzie was aware of stands; after all she had been around since her husband fought Mayan deities and then the vampire lord Dio in Egypt. She obviously didn't know everything, but she did have a little insight into the kind of world that came along with the Joestar bloodline.
It has been almost a year since Joseph visited Morioh and Suzie felt she had a right to see the kind of woman Joseph had some kind of attachment with years ago, as well as the boy Josuke that was indeed his son. In the weeks leading up to her trip she mentioned as much as possible that she missed her daughter Holly, and wanted to visit her. When her servants mentioned that they could make arrangements for a trip she declined saying that she didn't want to go because she wanted to go by herself and hated being dependent.
She may just be 68 and had to use a walker to get around now but she still had her mind in tact, which was more then Joseph could say at this point. So she didn't care what her servants thought she very well could get around on her own. Even so, no one would let her go visit her husband's mistress that was for sure. That's why when she bought all the tickets she needed, she did it so no one could find out where she was headed, and talking about how much she missed her daughter and wanting to visit without her servants, would send them on a wild goose chase when she suddenly disappeared.
Perhaps it was mean of her, but she didn't see any other way that she could end making things work out.
When she had arrived in Morioh she found out where the Higashikata's lived and quickly learnt their schedules. She couldn't very well just go up to the house and introduce herself as the wife of the man, that Tomoko had and slept with 18 years earlier. She watched them from afar, learning a lot about them.
Tomoko was a kind yet fiery woman who was a good mother, and Josuke was a lovable cheeky young boy who cared a lot about his friends. Josuke actually reminded her of Joseph when they had first met, though Joseph was definitely more of a flirt. She kept her distance, as she should she wasn't really part of their life, nor did she think she deserved to be.
She was pretty happy with what she found, because the Higashikata's seemed to be pretty happy. She was planning on leaving Morioh town in the next two days though she did want to talk to Tomoko and Josuke, she did stay away.
It was about lunch time and Suzie Q was headed to the cafe that she had been spending her lunches at throughout her time staying. Unfortunately she was almost there when she tripped, falling forward, walker and all. Before impact with the concrete though, there were two hands that reached out to catch her.
"I'm very sorry." Suzie Q uttered in her very best Japanese. "I've always been a bit of a klutz." She chuckled catching her breath.
"Are you alright?" A concerned voice asked, helping her up to her feet.
She recognized the voice as well as the face of the woman. It was Tomoko Higashikata. She remained stunned with silence while the younger woman picked up her walker.
Suzie Q certainly believed in gravity, and no, not because she almost fell, because here in front of her out of anyone that could have been there to help her it was Tomoko, the person she had been shamefully spying on for the past five days. "Oh my goodness, thank you." She sighed. "I must've tripped here on the mat on the way to the tables here." She giggled a little bit, trying to lighten her own mood.
"I'll yell at a manager, that's very dangerous for the mat to be laying like that, you can sit here at this table with me I was about to get lunch myself."
"Goodness you don't need to do that." She barely got to reply as Tomoko was already scolding the closest employee, and demanding she speak to a manager.
A few moments pass, and the manager apologizes, and removes the mat from the ground and even says the two of them will be getting a discount on their meals. As soon as he leaves. The ladies order and Tomoko rests a hand on top of Suzie Q's. "Are you really alright?" She asks.
Suzie Q nods. "It's going to take more then a little fall like that to keep me down." She jokes.
"I'm sorry, my name is Tomoko, I didn't get yours yet either."
"Oh, I'm Suzie Q, it's nice to meet you." She replied feeling the tension in the air. Perhaps it was just her own imagination but she felt that it was very noticeable.
"Do you have children?" Tomoko prompted. "I have a son he's 18, he can be a little troublesome, but he's a good kid I love him so much."
"Oh I have two daughters, one's a little over a year old, my husband and I adopted her." She chuckled. "Oh my is she a handful. Then I have a full grown daughter, married, and she has her own son as well. She moved to Japan to marry and raise my grandson. That's how I know Japanese, I bet you can tell that I'm not very good at speaking it."
"Ah, I can tell you have an accent, but it's not bad at all." Tomoko smiled reassuringly.
"Is that why you're here? Are you visiting your daughter and grandson?" The young woman asked.
Suzie Q wanted to reveal herself, and almost apologize for spying on her and her son. She didn't know how Tomoko would react, but this would be the best and perhaps only chance she'd get. "Actually... I'm here for a very different reason.." She started, as the waiter came and sat down their platters in front of them, telling them to enjoy and call if they needed anything.
"I'm sorry you were saying?" Tomoko asked taking a bite of her food.
"I want to apologize." Suzie Q started, making Tomoko turned her head in confusion. "I came to this town to see what kind of person my husband had fallen for, even if it was for one night, 18 years ago."
Tomoko carefully swallowed what was in her mouth and set down her fork. Pretty sure she understood now. "And what do you think?" She asked cautiously, almost dangerously
"I think I see why he did. I found a strong competent woman, very kind, who raised a very good, well mannered son." She started. "You know, I was aware even before he agreed to marry me, I wasn't his first option. I think if he had been able to marry Caesar, like he wanted he probably would've been satisfied in life. But he married me, and when I heard of this strange woman, who was very young from Japan I did get bitter. I'm not sure exactly why, I didn't get jealous when he brought his friend Avdol home, I knew the two of them had been sleeping together. Perhaps it was because Avdol was a man, and I know I can't fulfill that need of his." Suzie Q shrugged. "Perhaps it was because he had another child, and it wasn't mine, and I wouldn't get to be a part of that."
Suzie Q looked across the nearby street. "He's someone who easily falls in love, and someone who people easily fall in love with. I shouldn't have gotten mad at him when I found out. He's a good man who never would do something to intentionally hurt me. What do you think?" She asked Tomoko still looking across the street, avoiding eye contact.
"I think you're way too kind. I don't think I'd be so calm if I were in your shoes. Though from all that I remember he was the type of man to just make you happy." Tomoko chuckled.
Suzie Q finally turned back to look at Tomoko. "When he came to visit and he met Josuke,"
"He was here!?" Tomoko interjected. "And he visited with Josuke!? I thought only Jotaro was here?"
"Oh, my grandson. He said it was very nice spending time with your son. And said that Joseph enjoyed his time too. Maybe he didn't come to see you because he thought I would have gotten mad. Or maybe because he is starting to go senile." Suzie looked down at the table a little sadly. "My grandson said that he is proud to call Josuke family, and that's something coming from him! The Joestar bloodline has always had their trials through the centuries, and he said that Josuke was brave and always did the right thing during his last summer. It was apparently awe-inspiring according to Jotaro."
"I'm not sure I know exactly know what you mean by that." Tomoko replied.
"I'm sure they didn't tell you much if anything, the only reason I ever got to know as much as I do was because I was in the middle of it, during World War Two. Looking back to those days in Italy... It's kind of crazy. I'm sure you at least noticed something was going on last summer, it's probably the best you find out later. Just ask Josuke about it if you're comfortable. The Joestar bloodline is really something else I tell ya." She giggled.
Tomoko thought about what Suzie Q had said. She definitely did notice strange things went on last summer, and Josuke really did seem to mature a lot, but she always had made excuses. Maybe she would ask her son about it when she got a chance.
"You're a wonderful young lady. I'm so glad I got to speak with you." Suzie Q smiled.
Tomoko exhaled and grinned. "I'm so happy that we did too, I wish the very best for you." She said resting a hand on top of Suzie Q's again. When a giant shadow engulfed the two women.
"Good grief." Said the tall man looming over their table.
"Jotaro! What are you doing here?" Suzie Q asked.
"I should be asking you that?" He replied simply. "Ms.Higashikata I hope everything is ok here." Jotaro says with a hint of worry in his voice.
"Of course." She replied coolly. "Mrs.Joestar was telling me how many days left she has before her tickets say she has to go home. How many was it?"
"Two days."
"That's right, and she's going to be spending the remainder of her time at my home. You're also welcome to stay."
Suzie Q giggled.
"Give me a break." Jotaro sighed.
