Chapter 5

(A/N: {3/29/20} I wanna say that I apologize for the long wait on updates on my story. I know it's almost been a year since I haven't written it. College (especially with my senior year) and work has been in the way and I've lost some of my ideas on upcoming chapters, that I eventually became not so interested in writing it. But I'll let you all know that I haven't forgotten it. I have written notes for each chapter of what's gonna happen and it's helped me a lot because it's more organized and there's a lot that I'm excited to write about. I wanna quickly say thank you all for reading my book, it means so much to me that you all are enjoying it, and thank you for your patience.)

*Rey's POV*

Finn, Poe, and I finally reached the area where a lot of people were passing by in opposite directions. These people seemed very different from what I've seen from other planets. They carried these packs on their backs or by hand, they wore different kinds of clothing that were not like ours, and they would walk in or out of these different buildings. Plus, there weren't any other species of creatures or droids other than humans around. This was definitely a strange place to look for BB-8 and whoever has him.

As we were walking along a cement pathway, the three of us stopped and asked some people if they've seen BB-8 or if they've seen him with someone. All we got was the same answer, 'no', and they either seemed very confused or they looked at us like we were insane. I was beginning to think that we weren't gonna have any luck of finding BB-8 around this area.

After a while, we approached a young man with brown short hair. "Excuse me, sir. Have you seen a droid around here or have you seen someone with it?" I asked him. "What does it look like? Also, please, call me 'Bryan'." He said. "Alright, Bryan. He's a BB Unit droid. He's a ball-shaped figure, with a dome-shaped head, and he's white and orange." Poe explained. Bryan looked as if he was thinking. Then, he looked at us and said, "Yeah. I've seen something like that a little while ago." 'Thank goodness.' I thought to myself when I finally heard a 'yes' answer. I could even sense Finn and Poe letting out a sigh of relief. BB-8 definitely had to be somewhere nearby.

"Was he alone or was he with someone?" Poe asked, a bit anxiously. "He wasn't alone. He was with one of my classmates from my art history class from Winter Term." Bryan answered. "Who was it?" Finn asked. "I don't know. I don't remember her name. I've only seen her in class and that's it." Bryan explained, shrugging a little. Poe exhaled, frustratedly. I rubbed his upper arm, in comfort.

"Do you know where we can find her?" I asked. Bryan shook his head and said, "Sorry. I have no idea where she lives. I don't think she lives here on-campus. But she might be living somewhere outside of our college campus, nearby." I was disappointed that we didn't have enough information. But at the same time, I was thankful that we at least had some clues to help us find BB-8 and a girl that has him. "Well, we really appreciate your help, Bryan. Thank you." I thanked him. "Yeah, sure. No problem." He said, kindly, and, then, he walked passed us.

When that was over, I turned to Finn and Poe. "Well, we're gonna have to continue our search around here. We may not have enough information, but at least we know that a girl has BB-8 and she could be anywhere around here with him." I said. "Exactly, Rey. Let's keep looking and hope that he's not in danger with whoever he's with." Finn said. As much as I wanted to agree with Finn about this girl being a threat towards BB-8, I had a strong feeling that he was safe with her somewhere. I put my hand on his shoulder and said, "I'm sure he's okay, Finn. He's probably safe." "I hope so. Anyway, let's try the buildings around this area. There's probably a good chance of finding them here." Poe suggested. "Okay." I said, while nodding, and, then, we headed towards the closest building that was near to us. We headed inside and began our search for BB-8 and the girl.

*Kylo's POV*

General Hux and I made it to the area where Rey and the others were heading. Unfortunately, I lost track of where they went because of the group of many humans walking by on this cement pathway. I hated to admit, but General Hux was right from earlier. It wasn't the new Resistance Base. This strange place seemed very normal, especially since there were no other species or droids around. But it still wasn't going to help find Rey and the others now that I've lost sight of them with all these people walking passed us. We just had to keep looking until we spot them.

As we were walking and looking around the area for Rey and the others, I stopped in my tracks when General Hux called my name. I turned around to face him. "What is it, General? You're distracting me." I asked, sounding a bit annoyed. "Pardon my interruption, Supreme Leader, but I wanted to make a suggestion." General Hux said. I crossed my arms as I was intrigued to know what his suggestion was. 'This better be good.' I thought to myself.

"What's your suggestion, General Hux?" I asked, calmly. "I suggest that we ask any of these people if they have seen that scavenger scum and the other two with her since we're not gonna find them anywhere around this strange place with so many people surrounding us." General Hux explained, while using his hands to gesture the people walking by. I thought about it for a moment, but, then, I realized that it could actually work. I had a feeling someone around here might know about seeing Rey and the others. I nodded in agreement and said, "Well thought out suggestion, General. We shall put your suggestion into action." Then, I turned back and looked at the people passing by. 'There's so many of them. Who should I ask first?' I thought to myself.

Eventually, I came across a young man with short brown hair. Maybe he might've seen them. "Excuse me, sir." I said, which caused him to stop in his tracks and look at us. "Huh?" "I'm Kylo Ren, the Supreme Leader of the First Order, and this General Hux." I introduced ourselves. But the young man looked confused as he furrowed his eyebrows. "I beg your pardon?" He asked. I shook my head, slightly, and said, "It doesn't matter. We wanted to ask if you've seen—" But, then, the young man interrupted me. "Let me guess. Are you both also looking for a droid too?" He asked. It angered me that he interrupted my question. Nobody interrupts me or they'll get what's coming to them. 'How dare you interrupt me!' I thought to myself.

"Not really, sir." General Hux answered for me, thank goodness, because I needed to control my anger and I, personally, didn't have the time to deal with the young man. Finally, I cooled my anger down without the young man noticing. "We're actually looking for the people who are looking for the droid. Have you by any chance seen them around here?" I asked. The young man nodded and said, "Yeah, I did. I just talked with those three not too long ago. They asked me earlier about seeing a droid and I told them that I saw it, with one of my classmates."

I glanced at General Hux for a moment and, then, I turned back to the young man. "Do you know where those three are and do you by any chance know who this classmate is that has the droid?" I asked him. "I don't know where they went to. I walked off after I talked with them. To answer your other question, as I told the three, I don't remember my classmate's name. I've only seen her in class." He answered. 'So those three are looking for a girl that has the droid.' I thought to myself, once again. Even though the young man was telling the truth, as I read his mind while he was talking, I was still disappointed that he doesn't know where Rey and the others were. But, then, I nodded and said, "Well, we appreciate your help, sir." "Please. Call me 'Bryan'." The young man, who goes by the name Bryan, said. "Whatever." General Hux sneered. Bryan, then, walked away.

After Bryan left, I turned back to General Hux and said, "Let's continue looking for those three, General Hux. We've gotta find them before they find the droid and the girl that has it." "And if those three find the droid and the girl the same time as we do, what will happen then, Ren?" General Hux asked. "I'm not sure. But when the time comes, we'll deal with everyone, including the girl. Come on, General." I said, as we proceeded with our search of finding Rey and the others.

*(y/n)'s POV*

I woke up after taking a short nap. BB-8's head was still resting against my arm as I reached up to grab my cell phone with my other free hand. I looked at the time and it was only 2:18 pm. 'Boy, I sure slept a long time.' I thought to myself. I sat up and stretched my arms out so I could wake up more before I looked down at BB-8, who finally woke up. He beeped when he looked up at me. "I'm sorry for waking you up, BB-8. I just needed to stretch." I said, while yawning a bit. He beeped back, which made me chuckle. Then, I pulled the blanket away from me and I got up off my couch.

"Well, BB-8, are you ready to go play outside?" I asked him. BB-8 beeped, merrily. I giggled a bit.  "I'm gonna take that as a 'yes'. I'm gonna gather some stuff to play with outside. We'll head out in a few minutes. I'm gonna eat a little something and text my mother to let her know how I'm doing. Alright?" I said. BB-8 beeped in response. I nodded at him and, then, I walked towards the kitchen to grab a snack.

For two hours, BB-8 and I were playing outside in the front yard of my apartment building. I brought a soccer ball and a volleyball for BB-8 to play with. I also brought some of my drawing supplies down to draw a little. After playing with him for a while, I sat next to a tree and began drawing BB-8 as he was playing with one of the balls. It was hard to capture the details of him from the beginning because he kept trying to roll one of the balls around with his dome-shaped head, which was really cute, but I got what I could draw. It only took an hour to draw and color him until I was finished.

(A/N: This was done by me. This is a picture of my watercolor painting of BB-8 before adding blue to the background later on.)

After I was done with my drawing of BB-8, I set down my drawing supplies, stood up, and walked over to him. "Hey, BB-8, get it!" I said, as I kicked the soccer ball, lightly, towards him. It rolled passed him, but BB-8 went and got it and, then, he rolled it towards me. I kneeled down in front of him as he got closer with the soccer ball. "Good job, BB-8." I said, and, then, he beeped back in response. "Let's try a different game without the balls this time." I said, even though I didn't know what other game to play. I thought about it for awhile until I had an idea. "I got it, BB-8!" I said, with excitement.

*Rey's POV*

After a couple hours of searching in different buildings and everywhere around this so-called 'campus' area for BB-8 and the girl, the three of us started heading back to the Millennium Falcon. We weren't giving up, but we were a bit exhausted and we needed to rest for awhile until we resume our search. We've looked everywhere and found no traces of BB-8 or the girl that has him. We even asked other people, but we kept getting the same answer, 'no'. We just needed to search somewhere closer, like around the area where escape pod rests.

"So, what do you two suggest we search next?" Finn asked. "I don't know, Finn. We've search everywhere around here and found nothing. Personally, I wanna give up, but I can't. I can't give up finding my droid. He has to be around here and we're gonna find him. But the thing is, I don't know where to search next." Poe answered, sounding disappointed. I thought about it for a minute until I thought up a suggestion. "Why don't we try the building where the escape pod is at? It looks like a place where they have homes for people. Maybe he's there." I suggested. Finn and Poe looked at each other before they turned to face me. "Sure. We'll give it a try, Rey." Poe said, with a nodded.

For some strange reason, after Poe did that, I felt a brief fluttering feeling in my heart that I've never felt before in my life. I didn't know what it was. It seemed very odd to me. It's been like this ever since I've met him on the Falcon after the Battle of Crait.

A few minutes later, we spotted the building that I talked about earlier in plain sight. As we were walking towards it, while Finn and Poe were talking from behind me, my eye caught a glimpse of something that was moving in the front yard of the building. I looked up towards the direction and I couldn't believe what it was that I was seeing. Immediately, I stopped in my tracks in order to get Finn and Poe's attention, which worked perfectly. I could sense that they were confused. "Rey, what is it?" Finn asked, sounding concerned. "Look!" I said, as I pointed my finger towards the direction.

"BB-8!" Poe exclaimed, as he started running, but I put my arm up to stop him. He looked down at me, confused. "What are you doing, Rey? BB-8 is right there. Let's go get him!" He said, trying to convince me to move, but I didn't budge. "Poe, BB-8 isn't alone." I said, as I was pointing at the girl that was with BB-8. "Let's get a closer look." I said, as I started walking, with Finn and Poe following me, towards these parked vehicles that I've never seen before, without BB-8 and the girl noticing us.

We hid behind one of the vehicles where we could see BB-8 and the girl more closely. All three of us were confused on what was happening. The girl was laughing and smiling while running, slightly, away from BB-8, who looked as if he was trying to get her. She didn't look like a threat towards him. "Come and get me, BB-8!" The girl said, happily. We could hear BB-8 beep in response, as he kept rolling after her.

"What's that girl doing to my droid? She's making him chase her." Poe questioned. "I don't think BB-8 is chasing that girl, in a bad way, Poe." I said. Both Poe and Finn looked at me, curiously. "What do you mean, Rey?" Finn asked. "With the girl laughing and smiling while BB-8 is chasing her, it looks as if they're playing." I explained.

*Kylo's POV*

After a long time of searching for Rey and the others, which was unsuccessful, General Hux and I started walking back to our ship. I couldn't believe that we've lost them, it's like they've disappeared out of thin air. 'Unless Rey might've sensed our presence and used a Jedi Force trick to fool my mind.' I thought to myself for a moment. But, then, I, slightly, shook my head. 'No. She couldn't have. She's an untrained nothing who doesn't know how to use the Force correctly, so I don't have to worry about that.' I thought to myself, again.

My thoughts were soon interrupted when I heard General Hux. "Ren, look." He said, while looking at something. I looked to see what he was staring at and I was surprised to see what it was. Rey and the others, hiding behind a strange parked vehicle, observing the droid, who was, playfully, chasing a girl. Neither Rey, the others, the droid, or the girl had spotted us. "Let's get a closer look. Make sure no one sees us." I ordered. "Yes, Supreme Leader." General Hux said back. We, then, walked towards a nearby tree and hid behind it, without anyone noticing us. Both of us looked from one side of the tree to observe the droid that was with the girl.

"Pretty pathetic to see a human playing with a droid, isn't it, Ren?" General Hux sneered. But I ignored his comment. Instead, I was staring at the girl, while she was playing with the BB Unit droid. She looked so...beautiful. 'Who is that girl?' I thought to myself, once again.
