Moms Skeletons
My parents stared across the table at me in shock. "Where is he now?" my mother asked. "Is he okay?"
"He's fine, mom. We both are." I added that last part even though I knew they could care less about how I was doing. "He was scared to tell you this himself because he felt like you'd be disappointed in him."
"We would never be disappointed in Kip." My dad said. "Are you living with him now?"
"I was. I'm living with his friends kids. One of them goes to my school and he's dating the daughter. He also works at an autoshop. He helped me get a job there so I could support Rei. The people there are really nice. They help me out a lot too."
"Just tell your brother that we miss him and he's welcome to come and visit us whenever he wants to." My dad told me, holding my moms hands in his.
"That's right." mom agreed. "How did you get here anyways?"
"2 of the guys I work with gave me a ride. They had something to take care of out here so it wasn't a bother." My dad sarcastically chuckled. "What?"
"Oh nothing." he laughed. "Things just sounded way simpler than what it probably was."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "What are you implying?"
"Whenever someone shows you a little attention you always cling. That's what you did with Jimmy."
I stood up out of my seat. The chair knocked over behind me. "Don't you ever talk about Jimmy."
"I'm just saying, you opened your legs for him and you got stuck with a kid. I just hope you know better this time and don't make the same mistake with your 'friends'."
I couldn't stand my dads uncalled for comments. He was making it seem like I was some whore. I stomped over to him, slapping him hard across the face. My mother gasped. Dad stood up and pushed me into the counter. I accidentally knocked over all the dishes that were in the drying rack. The loud crash and mess angered my dad even more.
He roughly picked me up by my ponytail and slapped me.
My mom grabbed him by his forearm. "Andrew that's enough!"
The front door was kicked down. I couldn't turn my head because of my dad's grip on my hair. All I saw was a fist meet the side of his face then I fell on the ground with him. My mom screamed in fear. "Are you okay, Bayley?" Juice kneeled beside me, running his thumb over the cut on my cheekbone due to my father's slap. I slowly nodded. He wrapped his arm around my waist to help me off the floor.
Happy ran in to see what the fuss was about. "What's going on?"
My dad stared up at us from the floor. "I'm guessing that's the one you're opening your legs up for." he pointed at Juice. He was about to go and put my dad in his place but I held on tightly to the sleeve of his black hoodie. I just wanted to leave this damn place.
"Honey, please be quiet." My mom begged. I don't think she was worried about my well-being. Just about wanting us to leave already.
"You approve of this, Milla? Your daughter fucking some guy who looks like a criminal?" It amazes me how even when 2 bikers are towering over him, he still talked crap to me.
"It doesn't matter anymore, Andrew! You don't even know what she's doing. Just drop it so they could all get out of our house!" she cried. I found it odd how she didn't take an opportunity to fire some shots at me too.
Happy slowly made his way to my mom. Juice and I just stared at him. He started acting kind of weird the moment we pulled up on my street. My mom backed away from the man, pressing herself against the wall. Happy ran his finger through her hair. My mom turned away not wanted to look him in the eyes.
"Milla? Is that you?" he asked, quietly.
My mom slowly turned. "Who are you?" her voice cracked. "Please just leave me and my husband alone."
"It's me Happy. We met in a pub once. It must have been like 18years ago or something." we all just stared at them. What the hell was going on here? "You probably won't remember considering how shit-faced drunk you were."
"You're mistaking me for someone else."
Happy carefully lifted up my moms shirt to where it was right above her hip bone. My dad ran up to him but Happy punched him. He turned his attention back at my mom. Then at her exposed skin. "The smiley face tattoo. That's how we started talking." he lifted his shirt a bit to reveal a small cluster of smiley face tattoos.
My mother's face went pale. Almost like she saw a ghost. Or somebody that she wanted to forget. "Oh god." she said, just below a whisper. "It can't be you."
"Hold up." Juice shook his head, "This is the chick you said you hooked up with?"
"Yeah."
"Jesus Christ. Small world."
"That's why you didn't say anything when dad was insulting me! You didn't want to sound like a hypocrite!" all the pieces were falling in place. "You hooked up with a biker." This was rich. Mom always made me feel like garbage and now it was time for her to get off her high horse.
My dad held his aching jaw. "Milla, what the hell are they talking about?"
Mom scraped her fingers through her hair and plopped down onto the chair. "18 years ago, Andrew. It was the day I found out that you cheated on me. I was pissed. I took Kip with me to stay in a motel for the time being. I left him alone watching TV while I went for a drink. That's how I met Happy. I told him what happened and he comforted me."
"Next thing I remember we were banging in the motel room that was right beside where she was staying."
Juice laughed, "Wait until Sack finds out that you banged his mom."
"That's not all." my mom bit her bottom lip and twiddled her fingers around. "I started to feel sick 2 days after that happened. Immediately I knew that... That I was pregnant."
Mine and Happy's jaw nearly hit the floor. Juice looked lost until the light bulb went off in his head. "Holy shit, Happy! You're Bayley's old man!"
My stomach felt like it had flipped inside out. It all made sense to me now. My mother had always treated me differently than Kip not because she hated me just to hate me. She hated that she had a child with another man and couldn't live with herself. Me having a baby as a teen was just the icing on the cake.
Part of me felt a bit relieved. I was so thankful that Andrew wasn't my real dad.
"Milla..." Andrew whispered. "Tell me that's not true."
"I'm sorry, Andrew." she broke down in tears. "Please," my mother began. "Just go back to where you three came from."
"Let's go." Juice put his arm around my shoulder, leading me out the house. I stared back at my broken down mother and the man I had called dad for 18 years who I hated with all my heart.
Happy followed behind us without saying another word to my mom. I came back to HB to see my best friend and tell my parents about my brother. I had no idea that it would unlock the closet that had my moms skeletons.
Jesus, what do I do now? My real father is a member of SAMCRO...
