“I have something to tell you.” Ponyboy said to me. I walked back over to his bed and sat down. “What is that?” I asked as he sat up next to me. “I love you okay.” He said but I barely heard him because he said it so quietly. “Now you can go and call your boyfriend back.” Ponyboy said looking at me with hard eyes. “What?” I asked in disbelief. Since when did he think I have a boyfriend-wait a second. “Ponyboy Shaun isn’t my boyfriend. He’s is just my best friend, he will never be anything more.” I explained but he still looked hurt. “I love you Jennie, I heard the way you were talking to him, and it didn’t sound like you were just best friends.” He said and I immediately pulled him in for a hug. “I love you too Ponyboy. I was just waiting to hear it from you.” I said as I felt his arms wrap around me. “That’s just how Shaun and I always talk. He’s like a second big brother to me. I only have eyes for you.” I said as we pulled apart. His hands were resting on my hips and mine on his shoulders. We were staring into each other’s eyes and I felt myself beginning to lean forward. Ponyboy was leaning towards me also. We were about an inch apart when the front door slammed causing us to pull apart from each other quickly. “So what does that leave us as?” I asked. “Together, we’re together. You’re my girl.” He said and smiled at the last part. “I’ve been waiting for the moment to call you mine since we met.” He admitted. “And I’ve been waiting for the moment to be yours since we met.” I said resting my forehead against his. “Before we “officially” start dating I should ask Johnny if it okay to date you. Just so he can’t say I didn’t.” He said and I nodded. “Good idea. Come on they’re gonna think we ran off to Mexico.” I said standing up. I walked out the door with him following close behind. “What were you two doing?” Soda asked with a smirk. I smacked his head. “Ponyboy thought I was dating Shaun, so I had to explain that I was not. Don’t turn it into anything dirty Sodapop.” I said and smacked him again. Ponyboy shifted his weight nervously beside me. “Hey Johnny, can I talk to you for a second?” He asked and Johnny nodded and followed him to the porch. I sat down on the couch and watched TV.

~Pony’s P.O.V.~

“Hey Johnny, can I talk to you for a second?” I asked and he followed me out onto the porch. The door shut behind us. “What’s up?” He asked pulling out a weed. “Well, uh, I was uh, kinda wondering if, um,-“ He cut me off. “Just spit it out Pony.” I nodded and tried again. “I was wondering if, uh, if I could date Jennie.” I said first looking at the ground then up at him. Johnny chuckled a little. “Yea, you can date her, but hurt her once I swear to God you will end up in a hospital.” He said and I could see his eyes turn a shade darker. “Come on Johnny you know me better than anyone. I would never hurt her; Mom raised me better than that.” I said and his shoulders slumped. “Yea, I know, but I just want to make sure she doesn’t get hurt. I’m sorry for freaking out at you Pony; it’s just a force of habit.” He said and I nodded, “No man, I get it. We’re cool.” He nodded and we walked back inside.
