Tarrant 'Mad Hatter' Hightopp #5
Imagine you spending a tea party day with your friends, including Mad Hatter.

It was a gloomy sky evening as you were sitting outside at a table near a broken windmill, having a tea party with your friends; Mallymkun 'Mally', the dormouse, the March Hare, 'Thackery', and your childhood best friend, Tarrant Hightopp, who goes by the nicknames 'Hatter' or 'Mad Hatter' because of his mad personality and he makes hats for a living. Tea parties are fun and relaxing for you and your friends, including those 'Unbirthday' times. You love spending time with your friends, especially with Hatter.
Since childhood, you and Hatter had became very close best friends. You both had a lot in common; both of your families make clothing or accessories for a living and you both have a bit of a mad personality. By the time you and Hatter got older, you started seeing him more than just your best friend. You saw him as the love of your life since the day you've developed feelings for him because of his mad, but funny personality, his talent on making hats, he's caring and affectionate towards you, and how handsome he looked. But you didn't have the confidence to tell him how you felt about him.
You wore a colorful rag dress since you now make dresses for a living, with Hatter's assistance on making a colorful matching peacock top hat to go with your creative dress. Along with your outfit, you wore a black steampunk style trench coat and a pair of black boots and tights. You did your own makeup that would make your (e/c) eyes pop out more and you styled your own (h/l) (h/c) hair in a low side ponytail that fit your slightly mad personality.
"Hey. You know what today is?" You said, out loud to break the silence around the tea party table. Everyone perked up and looked towards your direction. "What is it, my dear (y/n)?" Hatter asked, lisping a bit, curiously and excitedly, while clapping his hands together. "Today is my Unbirthday." You announced. "It is?!" Thackery exclaimed, excitedly, while he, insanely, pulled on his ears and his eyes went wide. "It is?" Mally said, running across the table towards you. Then, Hatter stood up from his chair and began to say, "Well, then, in that case..."
"A very merry Unbirthday!" Hatter, Mally, and Thackery began to sing and dance, making you giggle. "To me?" You said, playfully. "To you!" Mally said, pointing to you. "A very merry Unbirthday!" Hatter, Mally, and Thackery sang and dance. "For me!" You said, putting both of your hands on your chest, while you acted surprised. "For you!" Thackery said. Then, Hatter took off his handmade top hat and he set it down in front of you and said, "Now blow the candle out, my dear, and make your wish come true." After he said that, he lifted up his top hat, magically, revealing a frosted cupcake with a lit up candle on it in front of you, which made you smile. You blew out the candle and it began to sparkle into different colors, frantically. In the end, the sparkles turned into sprinkles and they all landed on the frosting. "A very merry Unbirthday to you!" Hatter, Mally, and Thackery finished the song.
You clapped for their performance and you, then, you picked up the cupcake and took a bite of it. "Mm. This is so delicious. Best Unbirthday ever." You said, as you continued eating the cupcake. Hatter giggled and he took your hand and said, "Anything for a wonderfully, talented dress maker and...a very pretty lady, my dear." He, then, took your hand and he placed a gentle kiss on top of it. You giggled as you turned your head away from him as you were starting to blush like a red rose. 'Oh, my stars. I hope he doesn't see me blushing.' You thought to yourself.
Later on, the sun was starting to set and the sky was beginning to turn into a pinkish-purple sky, with a few stars appearing in the sky. While Mally was throwing a couple of sugar cubes at Thackery, you stared up at the sky, while resting your head on your hand, and with the last bit of sunshine beaming down on your face. Without you noticing, Hatter couldn't help but stare and smile at your glowing face and your sparkling (e/c) eyes.
"Hm. So many stars. They glitter so beautifully in the sky." You said to yourself. "I know I can see the most beautiful star glittering this fine evening." Hatter said. You lowered your head down as you were beginning to blush into a shade of red again. 'My goodness. He's absolutely adorable and so sweet.' You thought to yourself, before you lifted your head up and looked at Hatter. "That's a very nice comment, Hatter." You said. "Of course, (y/n). I always like to say the nicest things to my friends." Hatter said. Mally and Thackery weren't paying attention since they were still messing around with the teacups and sugar cubes.
Then, he leaned towards your direction and whispered, "Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?" You grinned and rolled your (e/c) eyes after listening to the same riddle he's been asking for years before you leaned towards him. "I haven't the slightest idea, Hatter." You whispered back to him, before you sat back in your chair. Hatter sat back in his chair, looking somewhat defeated. "I haven't the slightest idea either, my dear (y/n). I will never know the answer to it or when Alice will return to Underland for Frabjous Day or when the Bloody Big Head will go down once the White Queen wears the crown again." He said.
You didn't like seeing him look sad, especially since he hasn't stopped talking about Alice returning back to Underland one day after being gone for many years, which made you slightly irritated and also jealous, so you thought up an idea to make him feel better. You stood up from your chair and walked towards Hatter and said, "I think I know something that will cheer you up, Hatter." He looked up at you and asked, "And what might that be, (y/n)?" "Something we've always done a lot when we were children." You said, as you held your hand out towards him. He took your hand and stood up from his chair as you both walked away from the tea party table.
Once you both were away from the table, you took his other hand into yours and looked up at him. Hatter exclaimed, excitedly, as he finally realized what you were doing once he saw his and your hands linked together. "Oh, I see what you're doing, (y/n)!" He said. You smiled at his excitement as you began walking in a circle, with Hatter following along with you. "Shouldn't we be singing the song, (y/n)?" Hatter asked. "Absolutely." You answered, happily. Then, you and Hatter started skipping around in a circle before you both started singing, "Ring-a-round the rosie, a pocket full of posies. Ashes! Ashes! We all fall down!"
When you and Hatter said the last word, you both fell down on your backs on the ground and started laughing. In the process, both you and Hatter's top hats fell on the ground, with your low side ponytail coming undone, revealing your (h/l) (h/c) hair. While he was still laughing, Hatter rolled on his side next to you and hovered over you, without you noticing because your eyes were closed. Seconds later, you both stopped laughing and you opened your eyes and was surprised to see Hatter, closely, hovering over you. You stared into his lime green eyes and he stared into your (e/c) eyes before he glanced at your (h/l) (h/c) hair.
"Your hair looks so pretty when it's down, (y/n)." He said. When he said that, you touched the tips of your hair and felt embarrassed because you usually don't leave your hair down. "Oh, goodness me. I should fix it." You said, as you were about to fix your hair, but Hatter reached down and took your hand into his to stop you. "No. Leave it how it is, sweetheart. I love it just the way it is now." He said, while he still held your hand. You thought about it for a second until you said, "Okay, then. I'll leave it alone." A smile appeared on his face afterwards. "Good." Hatter spoke, as he brushed a few strands of your hair out of your face, which made you blush.
You and Hatter didn't say a word for a couple of seconds until Hatter spoke, "Oh. You have a bit of frosting on the corner of your lip, my dear (y/n)." You gasped as you placed your hand on the corner of your lip and tried to wipe off the frosting, but you didn't realize it was on the other side. Hatter giggled, softly, and said, "Here. I'll get it for you." He placed his hand on your cheek and started, gently, wiping the other side of your lip with his thumb. While he was doing that, you couldn't help but notice that his lime green eyes started changing into a shade of pink, which made you slightly confused.
After Hatter finished wiping the frosting off your lip, he stared down at you, with tenderness in his now pink colored eyes, while he caressed your cheek with his thumb. "Hatter, why are your eyes pink?" You asked. He hesitated to answer for a second until he said, "Because my heart is beating like mad. It's doing that because...because I love you, (y/n)." When he said those last words, you were in complete shock, in a good way. After all this time, he had feelings for you too. "You really mean it, Hatter? You really love me?" You asked. He nodded and stroked your cheek with his thumb. "For the longest time, sweetheart." He spoke, softly.
Then, he leaned down and pressed his soft, warm lips against yours. You hesitated to kiss him back because you were worried that you were gonna kiss wrong since you've never had your first kiss ever in your life. But, then, you closed your eyes and kissed him back, with your arm snaking around the back of his neck. It felt wonderful to kiss him as he was kissing you, slowly and gently, with tenderness and sweetness.
Moments later, Hatter pulled away from the kiss and you both looked into each other's eyes. "I love you too, Hatter. I've loved you for the longest time too." You said. He smiled even more before he reached into his coat pocket to get something. You were curious to know what he was getting until he pulled out a lime colored diamond ring.
"I kept this in my pocket for a long time when it was the right time to give it to you. Since we both confessed our love to each other and to make this the best Unbirthday even better for you, I think it's the perfect opportunity to ask you this. (y/n) (y/l/n), will you be my lady...for the rest of my life, no matter how many times I ask why a raven is like a writing desk?" Hatter asked. You covered your mouth with your hand and giggled before you nodded and took your hand off your mouth. "Yes. I will definitely be yours as long as you will be mine for the rest of my life as well, no matter how many times I ask how long it takes for us to reach for the stars, Tarrant Hightopp."
Then, Hatter slipped the ring onto your left ring finger. You looked at the ring on your finger and had the biggest smile on your face. It was definitely the best Unbirthday you've ever had; receiving your first kiss and asked to be with your best friend for the rest of your life. Hatter, then, took your hand and placed a kiss on top of it before you took his hand placed a kiss on top of it as well. "I love you, Tarrant Hightopp." You said. Hatter tucked a strand of your (h/l) (h/c) hair behind your ear before he said, "And I love you too, (y/n) (y/l/n)." You, then, sat up a little bit, and kissed him again, with Hatter kissing you back.
"Oi! You two love birds! You two are late for tea!" You heard Thackery yell before you heard a teacup break nearby. You and Hatter pulled away from the kiss and you both looked at each other and giggled. Hatter, then, took your hands into his and you both stood up together. After that, you and Hatter picked up your top hats and put them back on your heads. "Should we tell our friends the wonderful news about us?" He asked, gesturing his head towards the tea party table. "I think we should. Lead the way, my love." You said, with a grin, while you held your arm out towards him. "I shall do that, my lady." Hatter said, as he wrapped his arm around yours and escorted you to the tea party table.
