Edward Scissorhands #7

Imagine you helping Edward Scissorhands hold a baby.

It was around the afternoon on a chill Autumn Friday as you were in your bedroom working on homework for your Senior Year college classes when you heard your mother call for your name from the living room. You stopped what you were doing and headed to the living room to see what it was that she possibly needed. When you got to the living room, you exclaimed in surprise when you saw your mother standing next to your older sister, with her three month old baby girl in her arms.

"Paige!" You said, excitedly, as you ran over and embraced your older sister, Paige, in a gentle hug, with Paige hugging you back with one arm. "It's good to see you, (y/n)." Paige said. You, then, pulled away from the hug and looked at your little niece, Poppy. "Hi, Poppy. How's my little angel?" You cooed at her and she gave you the cutest smile that melts your heart easily. "Your sister and niece decided to surprise us with a week visit." Your mother said. "Yeah. I thought since my maternity leave is almost up, I thought it would be nice for Poppy and I to travel here from Los Angeles to visit you all." Paige said. "It is indeed a surprise. We haven't seen you since Poppy was born." You said.

"Well, we're very happy to have you and Poppy here, Paige. Unfortunately, I have to go deliver some chicken soup for your Aunt Abigail. She's caught the flu and I have to go help take care of her for a bit. I'll be back in a couple hours with dinner." Your mother said, as she grabbed a big bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup and headed out the door. "Okay, mom." You and Paige both said, in unison.

After your mother left, you, gently, took Poppy out of your sister's arms and you held her in your arms and admired her. Being an aunt has been best thing that has ever happened to you in your life. "So, how's everything going with college, (y/n)?" Paige asked. "It's been good. Bit of a struggle, but I'm getting the hang of it. At least I don't have to stay in the dorm rooms anymore. Thank goodness mom and dad's house is not too far from college." You said. "Have you found that special guy yet?" "Uh, not really." You answered, while shifting your eyes back and forth without your sister seeing you. "(y/n), you gotta put yourself out there and find someone that will make you happy before it's too late." Paige convinced you. "I just have no interest in searching for a guy, Paige. I'm happy how things are right now." You responded.

"Anyway, how you've been on maternity leave, sis?" You asked. "It's been good. But it's been very tiring. The first couple of months with Poppy had been very difficult for Bryan and I. She cried all the time, even the whole night where neither one of us didn't get any sleep at all. We were worried that the smallest sound was gonna wake her up and make her cry again." Paige explained, as she left out a big sigh once she sat on the couch, looking exhausted. "I'm sure this sort of thing happens to a lot of first time parents, Paige. At least I now know what it's like after having your first." You said.

"Yeah. I guess you're right, (y/n). After all, this is all part of parenthood and I'm enjoying every moment of it, even when I don't get that much sleep." Paige said, with a yawn at the end. "But I could sure use a good long nap right now. I couldn't sleep during the flight on the way down here as I was looking out for my baby. I really wish Bryan was here, but he's attending a business trip in Seattle." She added. "You go ahead and rest, sis. I'll look after Poppy. I need some auntie time with my little niece." You said. Paige smiled, tiredly, as she got up from the couch and said back, "Thank you so much, (y/n). I really appreciate it. Do what you want to do. She already changed her and fed her so she'll be fine. You can even take her out on a walk. Whatever is fine with me. Just make sure you look after her and makes sure she's safe." "Alright, Paige. Have a good nap." You said, as you watched your sister walk into the guest bedroom, leaving just you and Poppy.

You looked down at your little niece in your arms, with a smile on your face because of how precious she looked. "You're so cute, Poppy." You whispered. "What shall we do today, you and I? Let's figure that out." You cooed, quietly, as you were walking her to your bedroom. When you got to your room, you started thinking about what you wanted to do with Poppy, who was now fast asleep. "What to do? What to do?" You questioned yourself, as you walked around your room, while rocking Poppy in your arms.

Then, something caught your eyes on your dressing. It was a pair of custom made fabric gloves that you've made recently for a certain someone that you're in a secret relationship with. You, then, turned to the window and looked at a dark mansion that was sitting on top of the hill near your neighborhood. That's when an idea popped into your head. "I think I know what we're gonna do, Poppy." You said.

After you put Poppy in her baby car seat and put everything you needed in your backpack, you placed her in the back seat of your car and made sure she was properly secured, safely, before you headed to the driver's side. You got in the car, started it up, moved away from the curb, and began driving down the direction of where the entrance was to get to the top of the hill. A minute later, when you got to it, you drove over the broken rusty gate door that was on the ground and you started carefully driving up the hill. "It's a little bumpy, but I can't wait for you to meet Edward, Poppy." You said, as you continued driving up the hill.

Almost three years ago, you decided to check out the abandoned dark mansion on top of the hill near your neighborhood after many curious years of wondering what was in the mansion since your parents forbid you to go up there. When you got there, you weren't expecting to discover an unfinished humanoid named Edward Scissorhands, who has scissors for hands. For some reason, you didn't feel the least bit frightened by him as he was timid and innocent looking. After you stayed and learned about him and his past, especially when he once lived in the neighborhood you live in years ago, you became friends with him. You would visit him, in secret, whenever you weren't busy with schoolwork. You both would talk and he would show you his talent in trimming hedges into topiaries.

Eventually, you began a secret relationship with Edward after he told you one day that he loved you. You've grown very close to Edward the more time you've been spending more time with him. Even though he was still a bit skittish because he's worried that he might hurt you with his scissor hands, you still love him and his innocent, caring personality and how handsome he looked.

When you got to the top of the hill, you parked your car next to the iron gate, where it was near the mansion. You got out of the car to go to the back seat and took your backpack and Poppy, in her baby car seat, out of the car. You carried Poppy and your backpack over your shoulder as you walked towards the gate and opened it. You moved a few vines out of the way and entered a pathway that leads to a garden of shrubs and bushes carved into different types of animals, even one carved in the shape of a hand and different colorful flowers all around that Edward had made. Even though Poppy was a baby and was fast asleep, you still showed her around the garden. "Aren't these wonderful, Poppy? They're so pretty and the flowers are very colorful." You said.

Then, you looked up at a broken window that was at the top of the mansion and called out, "Edward!" You waited for a moment until you saw a figure move to the window and heard a familiar voice say, sweetly and happily, "(y/n)!" It was Edward. You waved your hand in the air before you said out loud, "Hey, Edward. I got something to show you. I'll be right up." You, then, carried Poppy up to the front door, opened it, and walked inside the deserted mansion.

After walking up so many stairs, thank goodness for those aerobic exercises, you made it to the top where the roof was and where you were greeted by Edward, who had an innocent small smile on his face. "Hi, Edward." You said, as you walked up to him and greeted him with a hug with one arm, while you were still carrying Poppy. Edward moved his scissor hands away so he wouldn't hurt you and leaned his head on the side of your head as a way of hugging you back. "I've missed you, (y/n)." He spoke, softly. "I've missed you too, Edward. School has been busy for me, but I'm glad to be with you." You said, and, then, you pulled away from the hug.

"What is it you wanted to show me?" Edward asked. You, then, turned the baby car seat around, revealing the sleeping Poppy. Edward jumped a little in surprise when he saw the little baby girl. "Edward, I'd like you to meet my niece, Poppy." You introduced her to Edward, as you lifted the car seat and held the bottom of it with your arms so that Edward could take a closer look at Poppy. "How come she's so tiny?" Edward asked, innocently. You giggled and answered, "She's a baby, Edward. This is what we look like when we're little after we're born before we start growing up even bigger, like what I look like now. She's three months old. I'll explain more to you later where babies come from." Edward nodded and, then, he observed the sleeping bundle of joy in front of him.

He stared down at Poppy's sleeping form for a while and a smile began to grow on his face. "She's so beautiful, (y/n)." He said. "Do you want to hold her, Edward?" You asked. After you asked that question, Edward, timidly, took a step back, looking worried. Not only does he want to accidentally hurt you with his scissor hands, but now he doesn't want to hurt a little baby. "I can't." He said, sadly, moving his hands away. Your heart broke when you saw how scared and sad he was. But you knew you had a solution for him.

"I know what will help you Edward." You said, and, then, you set down Poppy and you reached into your back and pulled out the custom made gloves. "I've been needing to give these to you. I made them specially for you, especially I sewed them in black to match your leather outfit." You said, as you showed him the gloves. Edward looked at them, curiously. "I know you don't have hands. But I know these will help you not to worry about hurting me or Poppy." You added, and, then, you helped slipped the fabric gloves onto Edward's scissor hands. Thankfully, they fit perfectly on his hands. He looked at them for a moment until he smiled. "I like them." He said, which made you smile back at him.

"Come on." You said, and, then, you picked up Poppy and walked Edward over to his bed that was in the corner. You both sat down on the bed and you took a cushion out of your backpack and set it on Edward's lap and properly positioned his arms. Afterwards, you, gently, took Poppy out of the baby car seat and carefully set her down in Edward's arms. At first, Edward was a afraid that the gloves weren't gonna work. But once he cradled Poppy in his arms, he started to soften up, letting all of that fear of hurting someone leave him. He didn't take his eyes off the little baby as he, slowly, rocked her back and forth. Your heart started melting as watched what was happening in front of you.

"So precious." Edward said, softly, as he continued rocking Poppy. You scooted closer towards him and wrapped your arm around his shoulders. "You're doing so good, Edward." You said. Edward turned to look at you and said, sweetly, "If there's ever a possibility, I want to have a baby with you someday, (y/n)." You were surprised when you heard Edward say that. You never thought you would hear him say that since he's never experienced handling a baby until now. You actually found it very adorable and you would definitely see him as a father. "You really mean it, Edward?" You questioned. He nodded in response. You, then, leaned forward and placed a kiss on his cheek and said, "I would love to have a baby with you too someday."

Then, Edward leaned forward and placed his lips against yours and you kissed him back. Moments later, you both pulled away from the kiss. "I love you, (y/n)." Edward said. "And I love you too." You said back. After that, the two of you went back to looking down at Poppy, enjoying this peaceful moment with Edward.
