Barnabas Collins #3

Imagine you and Barnabas Collins are confronted by the Volturi.

(A/N: This will be the only non-JD character crossover. The Volturi are a vampire group from the Twilight Saga, as seen in the images. I will label each character in case you don't know them.)

1973.

You were sitting in the grass near a cliff that was by the coast area, watching the yellowish, pink-orange sunset with your boyfriend, Barnabas Collins. He sat behind you, with his arms wrapped around around you, and held you close to him, while you sat in between his legs. You leaned your head back against his shoulder as you relaxed in his arms.

"This sunset is so beautiful, Barnabas." You said. "Indeed it is. But with you, my dear (y/n), it is more beautiful." Barnabas said, and, then, he placed a gentle kiss on your temple. You sighed, happily, after he said that. "You're so sweet, Barnabas. I'm so happy to have you in my life." You said, as you looked up at him. Barnabas smiled a bit as he looked down at you and caressed your cheek with his cold hand. "Same as I, my dear (y/n)." He said, softly, and, then, he leaned down and pressed his cold, soft lips against your warm lips. You closed your eyes as you kissed him back.

Moments later, you both pulled away from the kiss, slowly, and looked into each other's eyes for a few seconds. Then, you glanced up at the sky and noticed that it was starting to get dark. "We should probably head back, Barnabas. It'll be dark soon and Elizabeth probably wants me to check on David and Carolyn." You said. "Alright, my dear (y/n)." Barnabas said, and, then, unwrapped his arms from around you and you both stood up, with your arm wrapped around Barnabas left arm since he uses his right hand for his cane, and started walking back to his Collinwood mansion.

It's been nine months since you've started your new job as a nanny for David and Carolyn at Collinwood and became Barnabas' girlfriend. You found out that he was a vampire after he saved you, using his vampire speed, from a disco ball falling above you when Willie was trying to get it down after a party form the previous night. Initially, you were frightened that Barnabas happened to be a vampire, especially since Elizabeth knew ahead of time, even though she still doesn't believe that he's a vampire. But, eventually, you grew close to him and you felt safe whenever you were around him and you promised not to tell anyone about him.

"We're getting close to Collinwood, my dear (y/n). We should arrive in about five minutes." Barnabas said, as you both were walking through the forest, with the sky getting a little bit more dark. "Good, Barnabas." You said, as you kept your arm wrapped around his arm.

All of a sudden, you both heard a twig snap, out of nowhere. You looked around and saw nothing nearby. 'One of us probably stepped on one.' You thought to yourself. But, then, you heard multiple twigs snapping. This caused you and Barnabas to stop in your tracks and look around. "Who's out there? Show yourself!" Barnabas shouted . "As you wish." A smooth, Italian-accent voice said, out of nowhere. You and Barnabas, who wrapped his arms around you, protectively, turned and saw what was in front of you both.

There stood seven individuals in black and red cloaks. Three men, with different color hair, stood in the center as if they were the leaders, while the other four individuals, with two on each side of the three men, as if they were bodyguards. The first man in the center was a bit shorter than the other two and had long, wavy black hair. The second one on the left had long dull brown hair, with a sad look on his face and also looked as if he didn't want to be here. The third one on the right had shoulder-length platinum blonde hair, with a sinister scowl on his face. The two individuals on the left side were two men; one with dark brown hair and the other with light brown hair. The other two on the right side was a young girl with blonde hair and a tall, intimidating man. They all had pale skin and, even from a small distance, you could see that they all had red eyes. 'Who are these people? Are they vampires?' You thought to yourself.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Barnabas asked, a bit demandingly. The one with that stood in the center took a step forward and said, with a creepy, gleeful grin on his face, "Allow me to introduce ourselves. I am Aro. This is Marcus." He gestured to the brown haired man on his right. "And this is Caius." He gestured to the man with platinum blonde hair. "We're the Volturi Kings from Volterra, Italy of the Vampire World and these four are part of the Volturi Guard; to my right is Demetri and Alec and these two on my left is Jane and Felix." Aro explained.

Barnabas unwrapped his arms from around you and, then, he put his free hand on his chest and, slightly, bowed his head down. "I am Barnabas Collins and this is the love of my life, (y/n) (y/l/n)." He introduced. You didn't bow or curtsy to them. You just stared at them, curiously. 'I knew they were vampires the moment I saw their pale skin and red eyes.' You thought to yourself. "The love of your life is a human? Pathetic." Caius sneered, while scowling at you. Barnabas growled, quietly, after Caius insulted you.

"We have come here because, as you humans would say, 'a little bird' had told us, recently, that there has been something unusual that is not like from our Vampire World." Aro explained. "And what 'bird' would that be?" Barnabas questioned. "A vampire of our kind. He reported to us about a vampire and a human girl being together. So, we thought it be best to check it out." Aro said, with that grin never leaving his face. "And just as we had suspected, there stands a vampire in front of us, with a juicy treat." Caius added, smirking a bit. You, slightly, cringed after he said that.

But for some reason, you weren't buying into what these individuals were saying about their vampire stuff. "Look, are you guys high or something? Because if you are, go bother someone else with your so-called Volturi vampire stuff." You said. Caius leaned to the side towards Aro and said, "It seems that the human doubts us, Aro." "Precisely, brother. Perhaps we shall demonstrate our special gifts to prove our existence." Aro said, while grinning. Then, without looking at anyone except you and Barnabas, Aro simply said, "Jane." With that said, the blonde girl, who goes by the name 'Jane', stared at Barnabas and simply said, "Pain."

All of a sudden, you heard Barnabas cried out in pain. You turned and saw him on the ground, on his hands and knees, grunting. "Barnabas!" You exclaimed, as you kneeled down next to him, with one hand on his back and the other on his shoulder. Barnabas cried out in more pain as it kept getting worse. "Stop it! You're hurting him!" You said, desperately, as you looked up at Jane. Aro held up a hand and gestured Jane to stop, which she did. Barnabas calmed down after the pain went away. You helped him stand up, while he picked up his cane with his right hand. "Are you alright, Barnabas?" You asked, worriedly. Barnabas caressed your cheek and answered, "I'm fine, my dear (y/n)." Then, you both looked at Aro and the others.

"Are you convinced now, Miss (y/n)?" Aro asked. You didn't want to admit it, but you answered, "Yes. I am. But I never knew other vampires had powers. I thought Barnabas was the only one." "Well, not all vampires have a gift. Caius, for instance, does not." Aro explained, which made Caius glare at him, without Aro noticing. "The rest of us here do. I possess a gift to see everyone's thoughts in one touch. Marcus has the ability to see the bonds through people. As you just witnessed, Jane has a gift to give individuals burning pain through a mental illusion. Alec has a gift to remove all senses from people he chooses to target. Demetri tracks people through their minds, which was how we have found you both here in the forest. Lastly, our darling Felix has super strength." Aro finished, while gesturing to the tall, intimidating man next to Jane. 'Wow. These vampires are powerful.' You thought to yourself.

But, then, Caius stepped forward and said, "That is not important. The human still poses a threat to our kind, Aro." "What does that mean exactly?" Barnabas asked. "The Volturi keeps laws and this is one of them. Humans are forbidden to know our world. Our own kind. If they knew, they must be put to death, immediately. And here stands, a vampire and a human girl together. The law forbids this. She must annihilated." Caius explained, with a sneer at the end. You gasped, quietly. Barnabas wrapped his arm around you and held you close to him, protectively. Marcus looked at Caius, as if he was disagreeing with him. Aro's facial expression softened into a saddened look before he said, "Sadly, it is true. Miss (y/n) is a threat to our kind. She has fallen in love with a vampire and she knows about us. Well, I guess we must do what we must. Felix?" Then, Felix started moving.

"You're wrong. Barnabas is nothing like your kind. He's not like any of you." You said, sticking up for Barnabas. Jane held up her arm to stop Felix. "What do you mean, Miss (y/n)?" Aro asked. "(y/n), my dear, be careful." Barnabas muttered. "Barnabas was not bitten. He was cursed as a vampire by a witch named, Angelique, two centuries ago. He told me himself. I don't know what's different with your kind, but he's different. When he's in the sunlight, he burns. His physique is different than yours and he doesn't have red eyes like you; his eyes are dark brown. So, there's no way that I'm a threat to your kind if Barnabas is nothing like you vampires." You explained. Everyone was stunned after you said all of that, especially Aro, who seemed intrigued by this information.

"My beloved (y/n) speaks the truth. I am not like your kind. I am cursed. Cursed and buried alive for two centuries." Barnabas said. "Fascinating. Never have I ever heard such a thing like this. May I see your thoughts, please, Mr. Collins?" Aro asked, holding out his hand. Barnabas looked down at you for a brief moment before he unwrapped his arm from around you and he walked towards Aro. He placed his hand in Aro's, who held onto it as he was concentrating on Barnabas' thoughts. After a few seconds, Aro gasped, quietly. "He speaks the truth, dear ones. He is indeed a cursed vampire. How extraordinary." He said, as he released Barnabas' hand, and, then, he walked back to you.

"None the less, even if he's not part of our kind, the girl must be prevented since she knows that we exist. She must be put to death." Caius said. But Marcus held up his hand and said, "That will not be necessary, dear brother." Everyone, including you and Barnabas, looked at Marcus, shocked and confused. "And why not, Marcus?" Caius questioned. "Aro." Marcus simply said, while he kept his hand up. Then, Aro took Marcus' hand, held onto it, and started concentrating on his thoughts. Seconds later, Aro sighed, happily, and released Marcus' hand. He turned to you and Barnabas and said, "It seems that my dear brother had seen a bond between you two. True lovers, to be exact. Therefore, it means that we mustn't harm dear (y/n)." You let out a sigh of relief and you wrapped your arms around Barnabas, who did the same thing.

"But still, Aro—" Caius was about say something, but Aro placed a hand on his shoulder. "There is no threat, dear ones. The girl holds no threat to our kind. I do, however, like to ask Mr. Collins if there is any intention to give Miss (y/n) immortality." He said. Caius smirked and Marcus looked at Aro, uncertain. "I have no intention to give (y/n) immortality—" Barnabas began to say, then, you interrupted him. "However, we'll both make arrangements of me becoming immortal when the time comes." You said. Barnabas looked at you, confused. "We'll...let you know when the date is set." You added.

Aro grinned as he walked towards you. "Splendid. We will be waiting for your time as an immortal, dear sweet (y/n). We know you and Barnabas will be an acceptance to our kind." He said, as he took your hand, then, he leaned down and placed a kiss on it. Barnabas growled when he saw what Aro did. "Please, do keep in touch with us. We will like to know about your immortality and please let us know how things are going with you and Mr. Collins." Aro said, as he placed a business card in your hand and closed your hand before joining the others. "Until we meet again, my young friends." Aro said. "Take care." Marcus said, slightly, bowing forward. But Caius and the others didn't say a word. Then, as quick as lightning, they all ran off.

You and Barnabas looked at each other after the Volturi left. "Well, that was pretty interesting, huh, Barnabas?" You asked. "Indeed it was. Such powerful vampires. That Felix was so tall as a tower and so intimidating. But I don't understand it, (y/n). Why are you willing to give up your life for immortality? You don't have to do what the Volturi expects you to do." Barnabas said. "I'm willing to give up my life for immortality, Barnabas, because I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Live an eternal life." You explained.

Barnabas was surprised at your explanation. He wanted you to live a normal life as a human and not go through a life like himself. "But, (y/n), are...are you sure, my dear?" He asked, as he caressed your cheek with his cold hand. You leaned against his touch and said, "Of course I'm sure, Barnabas. There's no other man in this world that is like you and you're the love of my life too. I love you, Barnabas. I love you for all eternity." You said, as you placed both of your hands on his chest. Barnabas, then, wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you closer towards him. "I love you too, (y/n). For all eternity." He said, and, then, he leaned down and pressed his lips against yours. You kissed him back as you wrapped your arms around his neck.

Moments later, you both pulled away from the kiss. "Come on, my dear (y/n). Let's get back to Collinwood." Barnabas said. "Couldn't agree more, Barnabas. It's already dark outside." You said, and, then, you and Barnabas started walking to the direction towards Collinwood.
