Rango #1

Imagine Rango helping you get ready for your date.

Two months ago, you were driving on a highway through the Mojave Desert of Nevada when you saw something that caught your eye. A broken terrarium and a stranded chameleon laying on a piece of glass. You pulled over and went to go check on the chameleon. Thankfully, he was alright.

Afterwards, you discovered something else about the chameleon. He could talk. At first, you thought it was the desert heat getting to you. But, then, you realized that he actually was talking. His name was 'Rango' and was accidentally thrown out of his owner's car not too long ago, but they never came back for him. Since the heat was getting worse and you noticed that his skin was getting dry, you decided to take him home with you.

Having a talking chameleon like Rango around was wonderful and it didn't feel so lonely in your apartment anymore. Rango had a lot of personality; he was comical, he likes to wear a red Hawaiian shirt, and he was very talented in acting. You got him a bigger size terrarium with some toys for him, like a toy fish and a used Barbie doll, and he would use them to put on some 'performances' that he would make up on his own. Not only Rango was your new pet, but he was also a friend to you.

"Hmmm. Hmmmaoh. Muh. Mmmuh! Mmmmuh! Hmmmuh! Crunchy-creamy-cookie-candy-cupcake. Okay, everyone! Let's take it from the top. The stage is set. The night is young with a hint of mystery. The young maiden awaits on her balcony for her beloved knight in shining armor to arrive." Rango says, pointing to the Barbie doll before he spoke in a high pitched voice to be in character for the young maiden. "'Oh, my beloved Julien.' Her face saddens, she stares at the full moon, with an aching heart as she worries for her Julien's life." He says, before he turns to the Pez candy toy with a Santa Claus head on it. "Meanwhile, her stricken father had forbidden her to see her beloved Julien. 'Aye, my only daughter shall never marry a man who isn't rich.' He says, unaware that his trusted advisor, the evil Claude, intends to marry the young maiden." Rango says, pointing to his orange toy fish as the evil Claude.

But before he could continue on, you walked into your bedroom, with a smile on your face. "But for now, the plot is now under intermission since my young friend, (y/n), has entered her chambers." Rango said. "Oh, my gosh, Rango. You're not gonna believe what happened." You said, with a hint of excitement in your voice. Rango was deep in thought of trying to guess what it was. "Hm. You won a contest?" He guessed. "No." You said. "Hm. I give up. I can't think of anything else. What is it?" Rango asked. "I've been asked out on a date!" You told him.

"Aw. How romantic, (y/n). You're growing up so quickly and I've only known you for two months. Who is the lucky chap that asked you out?" "His name is Adam. We're in the same English class at my college and he asked me out. It makes it better because I've had a crush on him since the first day of class and I was too nervous to talk to him until he started talking to me earlier today. Oh, my gosh, Rango, I've never been on a date before and—and now I feel nervous." You said, with the tone of your voice changing from happy to sounding nervous.

"Not to worry, (y/n). From what I have learned from my experience of theatrically, I shall help you get ready for your date." Rango said, while he climbed up his terrarium and stood at the edge of the corner of it. "Aw, Rango. You would really help me get ready for my date?" You questioned. "Of course. After all, it's my way of saying 'thank you' for taking me in and taking care of me. I shall have you ready in time before—what time is Adam picking you up?" "At six." You answered. "Perfect. That gives us two hours to prepare for your date. All we have to do as I always do is improvise. Now let's get started. First thing is the setting." Rango said.

"Now, then, where is Adam taking you out for your date?" Rango asked. You were about to answer, but, then, he interrupted. "Ooh. Is it a walk down by the beach, hand-in-hand, while the two of you watch the sunset? Is it a visit to an art museum where you both will observe the finest art pieces in silence, hand-in-hand? Or maybe a date at the cafe where you both will enjoy the taste of coffee, hand-in-hand?" He guessed, while he smirked and bounced his eyebrows up and down.

You laughed at all of his guesses before you said, "Those sound really romantic, Rango. But he's taking me out to dinner." "Oh. I see. Fancy or casual?" Rango asked. You shrugged your shoulders and responded, "He didn't say. He just simply asked me out to dinner." Rango looked as if he was thinking about something for a moment until he finally said, "Well, it doesn't matter. Now that we know the setting, let's move onto the next step."

"Wardrobe. Finding the perfect dress is always the hardest part when going on a date. But not to worry. I will find you the perfect dress, (y/n)." Rango said, and, then, he gestured you to hold your hands out, which you did, and he hopped on your hands. "To the closet." He ordered, and you walked over to your closet, where he jumped off your hands, climbed up on one your outfits and stood at the top of the closet railing. "Let's find the dress that will say 'romantic dinner'." Rango said, and he started shifting the coat hangers away to look at the dresses you owned. "It doesn't have to be fancy, Rango." You told him. "Ah. But it shall make you beautiful like Juliet thinking about her Romeo on the balcony." Rango said, as he continued on what he was doing. You snickered and shook your head.

"Hm. Too fuzzy. No. Too red carpet. Too colorful. Too—that's not even a dress. I don't know which one to choose." Rango said. "I do like this dress. It's pretty and causal, nothing too fancy. I think I'll wear this one." You pointed out the dress that you liked.

"Hm. It does look pretty. All right, then. We've got the wardrobe down. Now let's move onto the next step." Rango said.

"Hair and makeup is also very important for a date. Picture this. The eyes are what the lucky gentleman will be concentrating on the whole time while you talk. Some eyeshadow and mascara will make your (e/c) pop out more when your face shines in the light. With your hair, perhaps some wavy locks so that your (h/l) (h/c) hair will look mesmerizing in the wind. Or maybe with your hair will look pretty with it up." Rango said, with a Spanish accent, while he was standing on top of your head with two strands of your (h/l) (h/c) hair in his hands.

"You've been reading a lot of Vogue and Cosmopolitan magazines, haven't you, Rango?" You asked him, while you sat in front of the mirror and looked at him from the reflection and smirked at him. "Yes, I have and they were quite useful. Now then, what should we do with your hair?" Rango questioned, with his normal voice. "I'm fine with any style as long it's nothing too dramatic. Maybe just normal wavy hair." You replied. "Perfect! Hairstyle is set. Now the makeup." "Honestly, I prefer my makeup to be natural to look as if I'm not wearing any makeup. But maybe with a little eyeliner and eyeshadow, it could really make my eyes pop out like you said." You told him. "I think we've got it! We've got all the steps down and now it's time to get you prepared for your date!" Rango exclaimed, and, then, he began to style your hair.

It was close to six as you looked at yourself in the mirror. You looked stunning in your casual dress and you wore your white Vans with it. Rango did a wonderful job with your hair and makeup as well. He styled it with a half up half down ponytail and he added some eyeshadow, eyeliner, and blush with your makeup. You had to admit, for a little chameleon like Rango, he has quite the talent for not just for acting, but also for styling. You were glad that he helped you, especially when you no longer felt nervous.

"Rango, you did a fantastic job. I love how I look." You said. "I'm glad you love it, (y/n). I know that Adam will be happy to see how beautiful you look." Rango said. Then, you picked him up in your hands and you held him up to you, while you smiled at him. "It couldn't have done it without you, Rango. You're a special friend to me." You said, and you placed a kiss on his little cheek. Before you know it, he went stiff as his eyes widen and he turned into a shade of pink and you giggled because you thought it was cute. He shook his head, cleared his throat, turned back to his original color, and responded back, "I'm happy that I'm a special friend to you, (y/n), and you're a wonderful friend to me too." "Aw, thank you, Rango." You thanked him.

Then, you heard the doorbell ring. "Oh. That's Adam. I gotta go. I'll see you later, Rango." You said, as you were grabbing your coat and purse. "Enjoy your romantic dinner with your Adam, (y/n)." Rango responded. You chuckled and gave him a little wave and walked out of your bedroom to go to the front door. Once you got there, you opened the door and saw Adam standing there, with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. "Hi, (y/n). Wow. You look beautiful." He complimented, as he handed you the bouquet and you took them. "Aw. Thank you, Adam. Let's just say a little friend helped me out." "Well, you look great whoever helped you. Now let's get going. I have a reservation for a nice restaurant we're going to." Adam said, and, then, you closed the door and locked it before the two of you walked to his car.

"And there they go. The young Romeo takes his lovely Juliet to a romantic dinner." Rango says, as if he was narrating a movie, while he was sitting in his terrarium by the window, next to the Barbie doll, watching you and Adam walking towards his car. "Ah. Young love. Pretty romantic, isn't it?" He asked the Barbie doll. "Oh, yes, darling. So romantic." He spoke in a high pitched voice. He sighed, happily, as he saw you smiling at Adam.
