JD Characters #3

Imagine the JD Characters comforting you after you had a traumatic moment.

(A/N: This actually happened to me recently {Feb. 5th} when I was on my way to work and I was crossing the crosswalk on my normal route. The first part of the story is all true of what I experienced while the other part is just an add in for the story. If you want to know more about it, you can always message me.)

It was early in the morning as you were on your way to your job. You got off the bus and walked to your normal route since you don't drive as you have a fear of it. You also had your white umbrella open as it was sprinkling a little bit. You never had any problems with getting to work and you were just minding your business, but also being cautious with your surroundings at the same time.

As you approached the crosswalk, you pressed the button and the pedestrian sign was on and, then, you started walking on the crosswalk with no car in sight. But as you were getting closer to the other side, a Jeep, suddenly, came out of nowhere in the turning lane on corner of the other street and it turned towards your direction. You were immediately frightened by the approaching vehicle as it was close to hitting you. "Stop! Stop!!" You screamed at the top of your lungs, as you tried to get away and braced yourself for impact while you were almost feeling the pain where you might get hit.

But, thankfully, the Jeep came to a complete stop, but you still fell backwards on the road, hitting your elbow and bottom and dropping your umbrella in the process. You breathed heavily as you stared at the Jeep headlights in front of you for a moment until you quickly got up and moved to the side to get out of the road, while the driver, who was a mid-30's female, got out of her car to check on you. "Are you okay? I'm sorry. I didn't see you." She asked, as she approached you. "What the heck? You almost hit me!" You yelled, and, then, you started crying, hysterically.

A man in his vehicle, who witnessed the whole incident, pulled over to check to see if you were alright, along with two joggers and another driver. The woman tried to tell the man who witnessed what happened that you tripped, you kept crying hysterically and saying that she almost hit you. The man said that he saw her almost hit you. He immediately gave you his name and phone number in case you needed information about the incident later on.

Since you weren't injured, but you were still in complete shock, the woman, who was feeling guilty for almost hitting you, offered to give you a ride to work, in which you did. After you got in her vehicle, she drove down to where you work. You were feeling a bit angry, but you didn't want to yell, so you asked as calmly as you could, while you were still crying, "Why didn't you see me?" "I couldn't see you because of your dark clothes." She answered. "But I had my umbrella open and it was white and I had the right-of-way and there were streetlights. How could you not see me?" You cried.

As soon as she pulled up in front of your work, she gave you her name and number and offered you money or coffee, but you told her that it wasn't necessary. She, then, drove off. But even after she left, you were still crying as you were still in shock after what happened not too long ago. When your coworkers saw you, they were all completely worried and you told them about the incident. Your supervisor asked you if you wanted to go home, you nodded since you were feeling sick to your stomach and slightly numb due to the shock and stress you were enduring.

Once that was taken care of, you called one of your roommates, Willy Wonka, to come pick you up after you told him what happened. He came to pick you up as fast as he could and he immediately took you home where the two of you lived in a mansion with the rest of your other friends, the JD Characters; Gilbert Grape, Barnabas Collins, Sam, John Dillinger, and Mort Rainey.

About a year ago, you met the JD Characters at the local market when you accidentally ran into their cart. After exchanging apologies to each other, you talked to them for quite a while as you found them rather interesting, especially when they oddly looked similar. When you mentioned that you were moving out of your apartment soon due to the increase in rent, they offered you a room at their mansion. At first, you were skeptical about it, but, then, they told you that they'd let you stay for free and you took up on their offer. After getting to know them, even after you moved in, you and the JD Characters have grown close and they promised to be there for you if you ever caught in a situation.

The sound of tires were screeching as Gilbert, with Sam sitting next to him, and Mort drove as fast as they could down the road of where the mansion was located after they were informed of what happened to you. As soon as they parked near the driveway, all three men got out of their vehicles and rushed to the front door, where they were met by John who heard them arriving beforehand. "Where's (y/n)? Is she okay?" Gilbert asked, sounding worried. "She's okay, you guys. She's in the living room with Willy and Barnabas." John answered. "How's she doing?" Mort asked. "She's pretty shaken up." John responded. "I don't blame her. But at least she's not hurt or anything." Sam said. "Come on. I'll take you guys to the living room to see her." John said, and, then, he gestured the three gentlemen to follow him, which they did.

When they got to the living room, they saw you on the couch with Willy and Barnabas. You were sitting on Willy's lap, with a blanket and Willy's arms wrapped around you, while rested your head on his shoulder as you were whimpering. Willy held you close to him as he was whispering 'you're okay' and 'you're safe' close to your ear, while Barnabas was rubbing your back to comfort you.

"Hey, (y/n)." Gilbert spoke, softly. You lifted your head up and looked at the four gentlemen standing in front of her. "Hey, guys." You said, sniffling a bit. "How are you doing?" Sam asked. "Okay, I guess. But I'm still...still—" "She's still in shock from earlier." Barnabas finished for you since he could tell that you were still thinking about the incident.

"What happened?" Mort questioned. "I was doing fine, you know, walking in my normal route in the morning and, then, suddenly, she turned so sharp and she almost ran into me. Oh, my God. I thought she was gonna hit me. I was bracing myself for impact and I thought I was gonna feel pain in my arm or my leg where she would've hit me. The next thing I knew she stopped and I tripped back and fell on the pavement. She checked on me if I was alright and I started getting hysterical." You explained, and, then, you started feeling tears forming in your eyes. "Oh, my God. I literally saw my life flash before my eyes when she was close to hitting me." You added, and, then, you started crying again. Willy held you close to him again and rocked you, while Barnabas rubbed your back again.

"Aw, (y/n). That's terrible." Sam said. "At least you weren't hurt, baby girl." John mentioned. "Or worse." Mort added, causing John and Gilbert to glare at him. "What matters is that you're alright and you're safe right now." Gilbert said. "But I can't get it out of my head. I still feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it." You cried. "Perhaps some proper rest shall help you feel better. Is that okay, dear sweet (y/n)?" Barnabas suggested. You lifted your head up and sniffled before you nodded in response. "Would you like us to help you to your bedroom, cocoa bean?" Willy asked. You shook your head and said back, "No. I think I'll sleep on the couch." "Whatever you feel comfortable with, darling." Barnabas said.

Then, Barnabas stood up from the couch so that you could lay down. You got off of Willy's lap and you laid down, with Gilbert placing a pillow down for your head and he placed a kiss on your temple. Afterwards, Willy got up from the couch and Mort helped cover you with the blanket. "Do you want us to stay with you, (y/n)?" Sam asked. "No. I'll be fine." You answered, softly, and, then, you closed your eyes so that you could get some rest. Barnabas petted your (h/l) (h/c) hair for a moment and he placed a kiss on your head, followed by Willy, John, Sam, and Mort. "Sleep well, sweetheart." Mort whispered, and, then, all six gentlemen walked out of the living room to let you sleep.

Three hours later, you opened your eyes and let out a groan as you sat up and stretched your arms out after taking a long deserved nap. All the stress from earlier had gone away, although the flashbacks haven't. It was scary to think of the worst, but you knew there was nothing worry about since you weren't hurt. But you didn't feel like going back to that crosswalk; you would have to figure out a different, safe route to take in the future.

You got up from the couch and walked out of the living room, where you met by the JD Characters, who were all sitting at the dining room table, eating lunch. Barnabas was the first to notice when he spoke, "Well, look who's finally up." Then, the rest of them looked at your direction. "Hello there, starshine." Willy said, gleefully. "How are feeling, sweetheart?" Gilbert asked. "Much better, even though the flashbacks aren't gone." You answered. "It'll take some time, baby girl." John mentioned. "You needed some sleep anyway." Mort added. "Yes, I did. I'll tell you what, it felt great." You said, and all the six gentlemen chuckled.

"So, what are you gonna do now? Are you gonna get a ride from someone?" Sam asked. "No. I'm gonna keep doing my same routine as I usually do, Sam." You answered. "But, (y/n), it's too dangerous for you to go back out there." John said, sounding concerned. "I can give you a ride to work so that way it won't happen again. Even if I have to wake up really in the morning." Mort offered.

"No, you guys. I understand that you all are concerned about me because of what happened earlier and I appreciate your generosity in giving me a ride to work so that I could be safe. But I gotta have my independence and I don't want any of you to wake up early in the morning because of me. I've been doing the same routine to work for a very long time and this is the first time this sort of thing happened. What are the chances of that ever happening? Yes, it was scary and shocking that it occurred just like that and I was scared for my life. But I now know that I'll have to be even more careful and cautious so it won't happen again. I could purchase a flashlight so the drivers could see me, hopefully, and I'll take a different, safer route. But I want to thank you all for your support from earlier because I really needed it." You told them.

The JD Characters stood up from their seats and went over to you to form a group hug with you. "We're with you, (y/n). We always are. You're our special friend and we always want to make sure that you're alright." Gilbert said. "We are fortunate to have you in our lives, even in my immortal life." Barnabas added. "I'm very lucky to have you all as my friends in my life too." You said, as you embraced them in the group hug. "And I promised to call either one of you if I need anything, even it's an emergency." You added. "Please do, sweetheart. We'll do anything to help you." Willy said.

Moments later, you and the JD Characters moved away from the group hug. "Well, now that's all done settled, how about some lunch, (y/n)?" John asked. You chuckled and responded, "That's sounds wonderful. I'm starving." "I know just what you need. I'll go get the bread, cheese, and the iron." Sam said, and, then, he left the dining room to get what he needed. "He's gonna make grilled cheese sandwiches made by an iron again." Gilbert said. "There's nothing wrong with that. I think they're delicious." You told him.

(A/N: I just wanted to say an important message. Whether you're driving or walking, please be careful and be aware of your surroundings for your own safety and for other people's safety. Thank you.)
