Jack Sparrow #4

***Warning: Slight mention of nudity - nothing major***

I looked down at the deep blue sea below me as I stood on the plank, my hands behind me, which were bound by decking rope.

I'd been standing there for several minutes, hesitant about jumping. I didn't really have a choice though. I'd been caught stealing, so my hands were tied and I was told that I had to walk the plank because I wasn't a worthy member of the Queen Anne's Revenge.

"What ye be waiting for?" Asked Captain Barbossa, his sword pointed at me.

"Oh - er - nothing." I lied, too chicken to tell him that I was scared about jumping.

"Well go on then." He said, slashing my bonds and jabbing his blade at an island not too far from where the ship was.

"But there are sharks!" I exclaimed, rubbing my sore wrists, trying not to think about potentially being a shark's next meal.

"Then you'll have to swim like the devil and hope that they don't get you. But if they don't there are the barnacles, it's like a thousand knives across your back."

I felt the colour drain from my face when I heard that.

Barbossa smirked when he saw how pale I'd gone.

"Now go,"

Then I remembered something.

"If you're booting me off the ship, then I have to have a pistol with a single shot."

"Aye, that be true. Quartermaster, bring forward Y/N's pistol."

The Quartermaster passed Barbossa my pistol which he threw to me.

"One pistol one shot."

I caught it and carefully put it in my pistol holder.

I turned around and walked gingerly to the end of the plank, trying to keep my balance and stop myself from falling off. As I stepped forward further, I felt my stomach tighten, my legs wobbling like jellies with all the anxiety that was building up in my body.

When I got to the end I stopped.

I looked behind me and looked at the captain and the crew pityingly. Barbossa nodded at me.

I'd only been stood there for ten seconds, when -

"Too long!" Shouted Gunner, stomping hard on the plank and making me lose balance and topple into the deep.

I screamed loudly as I plummeted downwards, but they were masked by the huge splash I made.

I gasped loudly as I came up for air, spluttering. Breathing heavily, I started swimming rapidly towards the island Barbossa had pointed out to me. Even though I was pretty sure I wouldn't get eaten or anything, I wasn't taking any chances.

****

When I got to the shore, I collapsed onto the sand and coughed up all the water I'd accidentally swallowed whilst I'd been swimming. I laid on the warm, golden sand for a few minutes and breathed in the fresh, crisp, salty air.
The tropical summer rays beat down upon my pale face and neck like I was standing (or in this case laying) in front of an open oven at full temp.

I pulled out my pistol and turned it over and over in my hands, pondering what I needed to do about my stranding situation.

I wasn't sure, but I was getting way too hot laying on the beach. I needed to find me a pool of water or something, cause I was absolutely pArChEd and most eDaCiOuS.
I hadn't had a drink or something to eat in forever, so...

Putting my pistol back in its holder, I rolled onto my stomach and crawled slowly and exhaustedly towards the island's jungle, my butt in the air.
When I got to the edge of the grove, I gripped tightly onto a tree and carefully pulled myself up. Now back on my feet, I half limped, half stumbled inside, looking for some water and food.

I hadn't walked long when I came across a fairly desolate area with a huge lagoon. I rushed over, knelt down on the soft, wet, grass and washed my face.

No one was about, so it was the perfect time to take a dip. That's why it's called a deserted island, btw. I couldn't remember the last time I'd bathed, so I pulled off my clothes and left them in a heap to dry in the sun. When I was completely stripped, I lowered myself into the sparkling turquoise blue reservoir. I sighed deeply as I dipped my toes into the cool, refreshing water, my hands running over the smooth, cool surface of the rocks as I slowly got in. I closed my eyes as I felt the main wash over me.

When my whole body was immersed, I ducked my head down under the water. Coming back up for air, I ran my hands through my H/L tangled hair. It took a while, but I managed to separate the strands until all of my hair was completely tangle-free.

I swam laps in the lagoon for a while, before I got out and pulled on my now dry clothes. Once dressed, I rang out my hair and put my hat on.

Even though I was very refreshed now, I wanted to avoid overheating again, so I left off my boots and coat. I unbuttoned my shirt slightly before picking up my stuff and starting to walk again.

Right, time for something to eat and drink, I thought.

It took me a while to find food and drink (mainly cause I wasn't sure where to start), but when I did, I couldn't even begin to describe my relief and happiness.

I'd manage to find some berries (I had memorized which food was poisoned or not - these were not) and kiwis, so I picked the fruit, sat down and started eating. I had also found two coconuts earlier, so I hit them violently against the kiwi tree until they cracked open and the milky-white coconut milk spilt out onto the ground.

I put the hairy coconut to my chapped lips and drank deeply, the creamy milk running over my pink tongue and down my throat.

I had just finished my 'meal' when I heard voices.

I froze and listened, straining to hear what the people were saying.

There were three male voices and one female voice.

"Jack, are you sure this is the right way?" Asked one man.

"If I am right in thinking, I am the captain and I am holding the compass and you may only talk if you are holding the compass." The second man replied, pausing theatrically. "Oh, look at that, I'm holding it. And yes, I'm very sure that this is the right way."

The voices seemed to be getting closer by the second, so, abandoning my things, I clambered up the tree I'd cracked the coconut on and hid.
I tensed up when the footsteps stopped and paused below me, afraid that I'd be discovered and possibly killed.

You're a pirate, Y/N, you're not afraid of anything I thought.

I watched as one of the men (a man with brown dreadlocks and captains hat) picked up my coat and hat and examined them, looking and feeling through the pockets.

"Jack," Snapped the blonde woman. "That doesn't belong to you. Put them back."

"I was joking," Said the brown dreadlocked man now known as Jack, who reluctantly put back the shillings, photograph and jewellery he had produced from my pockets.

I cautiously and quietly withdrew a secret dagger I had hidden away in my right trouser leg. My sword and practically all my other possessions I currently owned was still on the Queen Anne's Revenge, but I thankfully had managed to hang onto this one thing.

I listened to the conversation a bit more, before I jumped down and attacked.

I was just about to kill when I stopped, realising that these people (pirates to be more precise) were no threat to me.

They looked surprised and shocked when they saw me.

"Are you people insane, you can't just scare someone like that!" I cried, putting my dagger away.

"Scare you? Scare me." Replied Jack.

I raised my eyebrows.

"Oh, um, this is Elizabeth, Will and my first mate Mr Gibbs." Jack introduced, gesturing to the people with him.

I smiled and nodded. "Hi," I said. "I'm Y/N L/N."

"Hi," Said Elizabeth, her blonde hair blowing in the island breeze.

"Why are you here?" Asked Will, his hand leaving his sword.

I showed him my pistol and fired my shot in the air. The birds that were nesting high up in the tree tops flew away frightened.
I pulled my trigger several times to prove that I'd been left here for dead.

"Oh,"

"Who left you for dead?" Inquired Mr Gibbs, catching on to the point I was trying to prove.

I sighed, I really didn't want to talk about it. But I did. "Captain Barbossa and his crew of miscreants who need to wash and have terrible hygiene."

"Barbossa?! What were you doing with him?"

"Well, I was apart of his crew, duh." I replied rudely.

"Why were you left for dead?"

"The better question is," Jack interrupted. "Why were you left for dead?"

I looked at him confused. "He just-"

"Just go with it." Will muttered to me.

"I got caught stealing some of Barbossa's treasure."

"Why were you stealing it in the first place? Barbossa is almost impossible to steal from." Elizabeth said.

"I gambled most of my money on several games of liars dice. In retrospect, it was very stupid of me. But I'm always getting myself into situations, so..."

"Why don't you come be apart of the Black Pearl crew?" Offered Jack.

I grinned. "Yeah, I'd like that. I mean, sure, ok. Sounds cool."

I pulled my waistcoat on and jammed my hat on my head, as I followed Will, Jack, Elizabeth and Mr Gibbs towards The Black Pearl.

"Watch out for the piranhas." Jack joked as we waded through a small lake.

He laughed when I screamed and started running for my life.

"Don't do that!" I punched him hard in the arm, trying to sound angry even though I was giggling.

When we got to the ship, I disappeared immediately into Jack's cabin (he was kind enough to let me stay there for a bit) and fell asleep.

Being stranded and left for dead really tires a person out.
