Patrick Stump got shit-faced drunk and maybe, sort of, kinda went missing for about a day and a half. He cried himself to sleep at a party and ended up on a bus-stop bench before finding his way home.
But he's okay now, he'll swear up and down that he is. Maybe that's because Pete is also okay. Or as 'okay' as he will be for the next few months.
Pete has made a full recovery a little over a week later. They said something had clicked in his brain that made him switch moods constantly. He's fixed now, though.
Pete is required to have a guardian with him at all times for the next six months. Patrick, Joe, and Andy take turns being 'Pete's Keeper' for a month after the incident.
Today, though, it's Mr. Quinn's duty to keep watch of Pete. It's his duty for the next week. They're on the flight to L.A. right now, and Mr. Quinn still hasn't found out that Patrick doesn't have a band. He's sure that everyone else on this plane has a full band.
"Patrick, I feel sick," Gerard tells him. He's by the window, too. Dammit. Patrick sighs.
"Here, I'll go talk to Kellin," Patrick says. He kisses Gerard's forehead before standing up and making his way to the front. He squats next to the seat Kellin and Vic Fuentes. It's weird how they're always together.
"Can I help you, Mr. Stump?" Kellin asks Patrick, leaning across Vic since he's in the window seat.
"Gee's sick. You have any more of that motion sickness medicine you were giving out earlier?" He asks Kellin. Kellin leans back and digs a bottle out of his carry-on.
"Tell him to take two, and relax," He says before waving Patrick off. Patrick laughs quietly.
"Get some, V," He whispers in Vic's ear before he stands up and walks back to the seat he's sharing with Gerard. He passes Pete on the way by, who's sitting by himself, and smiles. Pete smiles back and fist bumps Patrick.
"My head is throbbing," Gerard says once Patrick sits back down. Patrick hands Gerard the pills and a bottle of water out of his carry-on.
"Sleep well, sweetie," And he kisses Gerard's cheek before going to sit next to Pete. "Hey, dude,"
"How's Big Red doing over there? First time flying?" Pete asks, pointing at Gerard, who's out like a light already. Pete started calling Gerard 'Big Red' probably as soon as he got to know him. The nickname had stuck, and Gerard didn't mind it.
He calls him Big Red because Gerard's hair is, obviously a very flamboyant colour of fire truck red. Also, he's way taller than Pete could ever think to be. Thus, the nickname Big Red was born.
"Probably. I don't know, honestly," Patrick confesses. "I just hope we'll get to sleep off the jet lag that most of us are going to have,"
"You get it, too?" Pete asks. He used to fly a lot, considering the rest of his family live in Seattle, but jet lag was always a problem for him.
"Only on seriously long flights. Four and a half hours isn't that bad, but I think this is most of the class's first time flying, so they'll have jelly legs for days," Patrick admits. Pete nods. The first time he flew, he freaked out.
He was just a little boy. About eleven years old. His mom sent him to his aunt's a few days before she and his father would come. He flew alone, but the flight attendants were so nice. The pilot even spoke to him. He said that Pete had to be brave no matter what.
Pete's thoughts are interrupted by the pilots voice. "Buckle up, kiddos. Prepare for landing in L.A.," Pete and Patrick look at each other and then immediately burst into laughter. The pilot just called them, juniors and seniors, 'kiddos' because they are the only ones on the plane besides Mr. Quinn.
"Fuck off, pilot guy," Andy Biersack says from two seats in front of Patrick and Pete. They both roll their eyes at the boy with the great jawline.
"Biersack, shut the hell up. One more smart-ass comment from you, and you're in your room for the rest of the trip, okay?" Kellin yells from the front, standing up. Andy nods, making Kellin sit back down.
"I'm going to go back-" Before Patrick can finish his sentence, Pete has started his own.
"Stay over here with me? Just until we touch down?" Pete asks quietly. Like he's nervous. He is, but don't tell Patrick.
Patrick peeks around the seats and sees Gerard still sleeping, someone have already buckled him in. So he nods. "Uh, yeah. Okay," And Pete smiles so big, you wouldn't think he'd just tried to commit suicide a little over a week ago.
They make small talk as the plane lands, laughing at the other when he goes into a rediculous story. As soon as it stops and they're clear to get off, Patrick tells Pete that he has to go wake up Gee.
Gerard groans when Patick shakes him awake with a, "Get up, honey. We're here,"
"I don't feel well," Gerard says, his face almost the colour of his hair. Patrick puts his hand on Gerard's forehead, and sure enough, he's burning up.
"Baby, I have to tell Kellin about this," Patrick tells him. Gerard shakes his head, scrunching up his face.
"I'll be in bed rest for the whole trip!" Gerard whines. Patrick just shakes his head. He doesn't want Gerard to miss L.A., but in all honesty, he's not missing much.
"I know, babe. You're sick, though," Patrick sighs after Gerard huffs. He helps Gerard up, supporting the latter's right side with his left, dragging the red head's left side. "Kellin," He calls out, hoping his teacher hasn't gotten off of the plane yet.
Kellin pops up from the seat he and Vic were sharing. "What is it, Patrick?"
"Help me. Gerard doesn't feel good. I can't carry him," Kellin laughs at the sight of Patrick trying to drag his way bigger than him boyfriend out of the plane.
"I've got him," Kellin assures, throwing Gerard right over his shoulder. Even though he's a good inch shorter, Kellin is strong for his size. "Don't take this the wrong way, but you look like fucking shit," He tells Gerard, who just groans in response.
As Patrick stays behind Kellin and Gerard, Pete is waiting for him. He gives the two of them a strange look before saying, "You know what? I don't even want to know,"
He throws an arm around Patrick as they walk into LAX. A bus is waiting for them, and it takes the whole group to a huge hotel. Pete, Patrick, Andy, and Joe share one room, while Gerard stays with Kellin and Vic, who seem to be getting awful friendly for a student/teacher duo. Bob will also stay with Gerard.
Kellin said he wanted to keep an eye on Gerard and that he will, unfortunately, be on bed rest until further notice.
Well, here's to Patrick trying to avoid his past. It's going pretty well, he must admit.
Maybe this won't be as bad as he originally thought.
