Chapter 20 - Part 1
Song: do re mi by blackbear
"Why would she just push me away? She isn't allowed to do that."
I'm pacing my bedroom as I vent out loud; a habit I've done for years since my trust in other people has dwindled down to almost nothing.
I'm sure the house elf, Jinky or whatever her bloody name is, secretly eavesdrops on my venting.
I clench onto the edge of my dresser, narrowing my gaze at my reflection. "The bloody Hufflepuff is too damn—" I purse my lips, trying to find the words, "—infuriating." I shift my gaze to my hair; the ghost of her fingers raking through each strand is still present.
"Ugh!" I groan out, dropping my head as I lean my weight more on the dresser.
"The fact—" I let out a dry laugh, bringing my gaze back up to my reflection, "—the fact that I had to finish my bloody self because she was so fucking worried about me being too drunk—ha!—absolutely pathetic!"
I bite my lip in frustration, the anger boiling up inside me.
"A damned Hufflepuff turned me on to the point where I had to finish my bloody self off. What a sick, pathetic joke that is!"
I slam my fist onto the dresser, my eyes flickering over towards the reflection of my bed in the mirror. I see something catch my eye; turning around, I stride over towards the oddity on my bedspread.
I pick it up cautiously, realizing it's a hair-clip of some sort.
Jo's hair-clip.
I move it around in my fingers, remembering how she looked laying underneath me on my bed. Her wavy, blonde hair wrapping around my fingers, the way I left her breathless after we parted. It's all flashing through my mind.
What is wrong with me?
She's making me bloody soft; I hate it.
Just as I'm about to lay down, someone knocks on my bedroom door, making me drop the hair clip back onto the bed. It must be our house elf as she tends to bring me hot chocolate around this time.
Letting out a groan, I slowly make my way over to my door, practically dragging my feet with every step.
As I open the door, I sneer out, "what?!" I immediately close my mouth once I see it isn't Jilly.
My mother gives me a deathly look, so I quickly say, "sorry mother. I thought you were Jilky."
"Do you mean Juney?"
I roll my eyes at her correction while muttering, "Sure, whatever her bloody name is."
She walks into my room, and I notice her eyes glance down at my bed, where Jo's hair clip is lying. The clicking of her heels is the only sound until she speaks up.
"I saw you run off with that Tonks girl," she brings her gaze over towards me with curious eyes.
"Okay... and what about it, mother?" I ask with annoyance, wanting her to leave so I can stare at the ceiling and ponder in my thoughts...or possibly go to sleep.
I enjoyed my privacy and time alone, and, right now, she's interfering it.
She walks over towards me and gently places a hand on my shoulder, making me turn my head and look into her eyes.
"I want you to be careful around her. She seems like a nice girl—" oh, please I think to myself, "— but her family has very different beliefs than us. I want you to be careful about what you say around her," her gray eyes, similar to mine, are gentle but full of seriousness as she says this.
I take her hand off of my shoulder as I reply with, "alright, mother."
She looks full of disappointment in my action as she nods with a small smile.
"Good. Well, goodnight Draco," she says with a soft tone, similar to Jo's usual soft spoken voice.
Why am I thinking of that bloody prat right now?!
She strides towards my door to leave as I muster up the friendliest "goodnight, mother" as I can.
As soon as she's out of my room, I close the door with swift force and trudge over to lay on my bed, grabbing Jo's hair-clip once again.
I think I might keep this.
