Iduna's Apples

Vikings believed that their Gods were as mortal as humans.* So in order for them so stay young and healthy, they ate apples from Iduna's orchard (An apple a day keeps the doctor away.... ;).... ).

In the story, Loki tricked Iduna into giving her apples to the Gods enemies, the Giants of Utgard, so the Gods grew very very old. Luckily, they soon got the apples back, at a cost (I forgot what the cost was).

*Truth be told, there is only one God, he is our Heavenly Father, along with is son, Jesus Christ. They definitely immortal. Although, Jesus now has a body, he asked Heavenly Father if he could keep the wound marks that were made when he was hung on the cross, so he could show them to all the world. He showed all the world so they could know he wasn't just an angel, but the Living Christ! :)

He died for our sins so that one day we can return to live with him again! This is called the Atonement (at one ment), meaning, at one with Christ.

Nobody can completely understand the Atonement, but as long as we repent, and strive to do better, we will be able to live with Him again! :)
