Chapter 2

I now sat in Ollivanders, watching my brother get his wand. Finally, one shot sparks out the end when he grabbed it.

"I suppose this one will do..." He said in a bored voice.

"Jessica, it's your turn," my mother said eargerly.

I glared at her.

"How many times have I told you? Call me Jinx," I said stubbornly.

"Yes, yes, whatever. Go on," she said, completely ignoring what I just said. I rolled my eyes and went up to Ollivander who set about measuring me. He went to the back and grabbed a box.

"13 inches, holly, dragon heart-string. Go on," he told me. I grabbed it and gave it a wave. Nothing. "No, no... I suppose not. Here."

He handed me one that my brother had rejected.

"9 1/2 inches, willow, Phoenix feather," he told me. I grabbed it and a warmth spread through my hand. I smiled and gave it a wave, turning my brother's hair pink by accident. I burst out laughed. Draco looked panicked. He looked at his reflection in the window. A look of horror crossed his face. I fell to the floor I was laughing so hard. Ollivander gave a chuckle and gave his wand a wave and turned Draco's hair back the the white blonde color that we shared.

"Jessica!" Mother said outraged. "How dare you?"

"I-I-I-I didn't mean to," I choked out. "Was an accident."

Mum glared and me and paid for our wands. We met father at the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron. He had gotten our books and potion stuff.

I was still giggling a little. I was never going to let Draco live that down.

Little did I know then that my wand was the beginning of my journey to discover who I was really meant to be, and what I was meant to do with my life.
