always been an elf

When the time finally arrived, the small team thought they knew exactly what would happen, but even foolproof plans could go awry. Chris, Holly, and Winter went early to do the last-minute touches and greet other mythological guests. At the same time, Nicholas attended to Santa's needs. When everyone was in place, and the great north wind arrived, Nicholas was nowhere to be seen. Holly kept returning to a hastily made sound booth where Jingle was hiding to ask if she had seen him yet."Your father must have figured it out; he is keeping Nicholas away," Jingle said."But you said all of us had to be here?""But the great north wind doesn't know how many of you there are. He doesn't keep track of how many kids Santa has. As long as no one corrects him and Nicholas isn't here, there is no way for him to know.""Well, where do we look for Nicholas?""We don't need to find him, just go home and get the procedural book and some family photos."Right before the ceremony started, Jingle was feverishly flipping through the pages. Chris, Holly, and Winter were standing, greeting, and seating guests. When Jingle found the page, she knew the only way to get it to Holly was to bring it to her. Jingle ran up that aisle, garnering stares from the elves in attendance."Holly, I found the page here." Jingle shoved the book into Holly's grasp as the elven police grabbed her. "Tell him, Holly!" Holly looked blankly momentarily, then walked to the great north wind with Chris and Winter on her tail."excuse me, Mr. North Wind... Um, I mean Great North Wind. I know you were planning on starting soon. Still, according to the North Pole procedural code, specifically the Santa transition ordinance, we can not start the ceremony without the presence of all children of the current Santa, which we do not have. My brother Nicholas is not here, sir." Santa was forced to bring Nicholas out, and during the ceremony, Chris and Winter rejected the position of Santa and Nicholas because of Santa. Jingle didn't get to see anyone this, of course, because she was put in jail and had to stay in prison until Nicholas' position became official on Christmas day after his first time delivering presents, despite the complaints of the Clause children. The elf prison was so seldom used that the elves converted it into a storage unit. Jingle was throwing Babydolls at the wall of her cell, getting another stern talking to by her brother, who was taking turns with other elves guarding her.Much to his father's dismay, Nicholas took off on his first ride, and the following day, when he returned officially Santa, his first order of business was releasing Jingle. Holly and Chris were already down there since he took off arguing with their father and Jolly, Jingle's brother. When Nicholas got there, all fighting ceased; Santa had spoken. Jolly went in to release Jingle but ran back out screaming."She's a giant monster! She is not an elf!" Nicholas ran in and saw that her bracelet had never been taken away, and she was again the size of a human. Nicholas was almost as shocked as Jolly."Hi, I don't believe that we have met. I'm Jess.""no matter what you look like, you will always be Jingle to me.""And you, Santa."
