The sun's rays filtered gently through the curtains, casting a warm glow over Winter's room. It was a typical Sunday morning, but today was different.

Ningning opened the door into Winter's room, carrying a tray filled with a steaming bowl of chicken soup and a glass of water.

"Hey, Winter," Ningning whispered, her voice barely audible.

"Hi.." Winter replied softly, still slightly tired.

"I brought you some soup. It'll help you feel better." Ningning said as she settled herself on the edge of Winter's bed and placed the tray on her lap. She gently blew on a spoonful of soup to cool it down and brought it over to Winter. Ningning continued to feed her, taking her time and ensuring that Winter ate every last spoonful.

Ningning had known Winter since they were little, and their friendship had blossomed into something truly special over the years. Now, seeing her friend in such a vulnerable state, Ningning swore to herself to take care of Winter carefully.

As Winter finished the soup, Ningning handed her the glass of water. "You need to stay hydrated," she said with a caring tone. "I'll refill it whenever you need."

Winter took a few sips, then nestled back into her pillows.

Throughout the day, Ningning remained by Winter's side, tending to her needs. She fetched fresh towels and a cool washcloth to soothe Winter's forehead. She checked her temperature regularly, ensuring that it didn't spike. Ningning even brought some of Winter's favorite books and movies to keep her entertained.

But it wasn't just the practical care that Ningning provided. She also offered a listening ear and a comforting presence. She sat beside Winter, holding her hand and offering words of encouragement.

As the days progressed, Winter started taking notice of the strange bat silhouette appearing in her room once in a while.

Winter woke up to the sound of her alarm clock buzzing. Rubbing her eyes, she stretched her arms and yawned, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Today was the first day after her long absence from school.

After getting ready and having a quick breakfast, Winter grabbed her backpack and rushed out the door. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the neighborhood. As Winter walked to school, she admired the vibrant flowers and the chirping birds, feeling a sense of anticipation for the day ahead.

As she entered the school gates, Winter's eyes scanned the courtyard, searching for Ningning's familiar face.

"Ningning!" Winter exclaimed, "You didn't wait for me this morning" Winter said, slightly nudging her friend's shirt.

"I had to meet up with Giselle.." Ningning replied, scratching her nape.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the school day. Winter and Ningning hurriedly made their way to their classroom, which was abuzz with students reuniting.

Taking their seats, their teacher began the day with a speech, informing all of the students about the next festivals that will be held soon, including Halloween.

"Halloween?" Ningning asked

"Yeah, Halloween" Winter answered, while still busy sketching on her book.

"What the heck..We didn't have that last year" Ningning cursed, trying to get attention from Winter by waving her hand in front of Winter's face.

"Then we have that now" Winter closed her sketch book and return to face Ningning.

Throughout the school period, they talked and gossiped with each other, making plans that they know they won't have the time for.

Walking together on the hallway, Ningning suddenly asked.

"So..you are still keeping the necklace?"

Winter looked down, laying her sight onto the shiny necklace she took the other day.

"I'm not quite sure if I want to return it"

"Well, I can sell it if you want" Ningning insisted.

Winter shook her head, before bumping into a tall figure.

"Shit.." She muttered under her breath, before looking up to meet a pair of eyes.

"Sorry." The black haired girl walked away hurriedly, while Winter is still rubbing her head.

Ningning stared at the girl's back for a while before she walked away, her figure disappearing completely.

"What a weirdo.."

Ningning commented. Winter fixed her hair before grabbing Ningning and continue their path, not noticing the disappearance of her necklace.

As the school day drew to a close, Ningning and Winter headed to the dormitory immediately, wanting to spend the night together.

Closing the door behind them, Winter took of her shoes and bag, then laying on the couch lazily.

"Giselle will be returning to live with us the next day" Ningning said as she shook off her jacket.

Winter nodded, before scrolling on her phone.

"So..What do you want to eat today?" She asked, glancing at Ningning.

"Anything is fine" Ningning said as she threw herself onto the sofa, next to Winter.

"Maybe beef stew? You are still not fully recovered yet" Ningning insisted

Winter nodded slowly, before placing her order on the app.

Winter entered her room, still feeling slightly ill. With a contented sigh, Winter slipped into her favorite pajamas and climbed into her inviting bed. The sheets were freshly washed and smelled of lavender, her favorite scent. She snuggled under the covers, feeling the weight of the day slowly melt away.

Outside, the atmosphere settled into a peaceful state, which brought Winter deeper into her sleep. Today, her day was faster than normal. She wasn't aware of the feeling, but she know for sure that it's a sign for a great adventure coming up.
