Snowballs
{THIS IS TRASH IM SORRY.}
SLAP
Lily felt a freezing cold substance slide down her back. It stung her skin through the wet cotton of her jumper. She turned around just in time to see the snowball hit the white ground.
She'd just walked out of the three broomsticks, relatively cheery from side effects of butterbeer. When she'd been awoken from the warm daze by a slap from the cold from outside. Literally.
She looked for her attacker, sensing the snowball came from the cramped bushes by the stone wall. She glared at the bushes as they moved slightly. She was about to go investigate further when she felt a pull on her arm from Marlene.
"Come on Lily, what are you standing about for? It's below 0 degrees!" Marlene whined.
Lily hesitated for a moment before beginning to follow Marlene into the closing door of Honeydukes.
That's when she felt it again.
This time the ball only hit her cloak leg. But the chilling affect was the same. She glared at the bushes once again.
Brushing her red hair out of her face, slowly, she bent down to feel the light snow contact her fingers, moulding it into a ball as she waited for a sign of movement. Thats when she heard a noise, left from the stirring in the bushes.
She threw.
"Padfoot, what are you do-" Began a startled James Potter whom Lily realised too late was himself just emerging from Eeylops Owl Emporium when her large snowball hit his face with a loud WHACK.
Shoot. She'd just hit an innocent bystander. And one she fancied as well.
James Potter's glasses now lay beside him cracked and broken as he flicked the white substance from his face.
"What the-" He began, but was cut off from roaring laughter from Lily's original thought of suspicion in the bushes. Sirius Black fell forward not being able to contain himself at the situation.
James eyebrows furrowed, his vision obscuring him from understanding. Clearly, without his glasses James was about as blind as a bat
"What the hell Padfoot, what'd you do that for?" He asked angrily, recognising his best friends laughter. Clearly oblivious that his actual attacker was standing mere metres from him, looking exceptionally guilty.
"Wasn't me mate." Sirius said, wiping tears from his eyes. "T'was your girlfriend." Sirius began with a hint of mischief in his voice.
"Codswollop. I don't have a girlfriend." James brushed off, now groping around the ground for his glasses.
Lily felt inexplictley awkward as James still seemed rather unaware of her presence. Managing to catch Sirius's eyes, she gesutered to the shops behind her and mouthed, should I go?
He shook his head and with a flick of his wand she felt herself sit down on the stone wall beside her. She rather thought then she shouldn't have even asked him.
"You could easily have one if you want you know." Sirius continued the conversation with James, still ignoring Lily's presence there. Lily opened her mouth to speak, to make James aware of her being there before she heard something she didn't want to hear before Sirius silenced her with another flick of his wand.
James sighed.
"Well I can't exactly have the one I want now can I Padfoot?" James snapped. Sirius plowed on. Lily didn't want to hear this. She didn't want to here the girl whom James Potter was striving after.
"I think if you just told her how you feel the outcome would be better than you expected." Sirius said, an airiness to his voice.
Lily felt her stomach drop. James snorted.
"We're just friends Padfoot, besides I think I have confessed my liking for her many times before."
"This time we be different..." Sirius paused, "Just say it." He teased.
"Bloody Hell, where are my glasses?" James asked, ignoring Sirius. His hands inches from the thin frame. With the muttering of a quick spell the pair flew into Sirius's outstretch hand.
"I'll give you the glasses if you say it." Sirius said smugly, trying to keep the laughter from his voice.
"Merlin-" Jame started.
"Say it." Sirius persisted.
"Fine!" James growled. "Would you like me to make it out to her?" He mocked.
Sirius shrugged. "If you like." James took a deep breath and began.
"Lily Evans,"
She nearly fainted.
"I bloody like you okay? I know I just ruined any friendship we just had but it's okay because I really fancy you. Want to snog?" James joked. Sirius was now back to the state of laughter he was in before.
Lily's stomach seemed to be doing all sort of things while Sirius handed James back his glasses. It was a sort of fluttery feeling. The type you get when you find out a boy fancies you. Especially when you think you rather fancy him too.
James seemed to know something was up, what he'd said wasn't that funny... His eyes slid into focus at the booming Sirius. He glared at him.
"What's so funny?" He demanded. Sirius couldn't find the breath to speak, so instead in between a fit of giggles he merely pointed at the red headed girl behind James's back.
James turned around angrily but all expression was washed off his face when he saw Lily Evans now on her feet too, looking at the black haired boy who's expression now formed into a slight 'O'.
Lily couldn't help the smile which infected her face.
"You want to snog me do you?" She teased, taking a step closer.
"I- Er..." James stammered as Lily took another step. "You really shouldn't take advantage of a blind man you know." James said trying to win back his dignity.
"Please, I took no part. I was literally cursed to the wall." Lily said, gesturing behind her.
James shot another glare at Sirius who had managed to, on the whole, get his laughter under control.
"Let me guess, you threw the snowball?" James said weakly, finally putting everything together. Lily was only inches away from him now.
"Incidently." Lily shrugged. "But do you know what you did get right?"
"What?" James asked, his forehead creasing.
"That this will totally ruin our friendship." Lily whispered as she reached up and placed her lips on his. Open with suprise he returned eagerly. The softness of the pairs lips on eachothers was perfect. It was short and sweet but so much emotion was flowing through Lily as she kissed him it was indescribable. After many blissful moments somebody cleared there voice and they were forced to break apart. James looked rather dumbstruck before Sirius spoke.
"Aren't you going to thank me?" he asked, as if it were the first thing they should've thought of doing.
Lily's only response was a quick flick of her wand as it rolled up a ball in the snow and flew in the direction of Sirius's face before she found her place back on James's lips.
