Jungkook noticed the gorgeous MC as soon as he set his foot inside the studio. The other players greeted him with a familiar grin and greetings. Even as he exchanged pleasantries with them, talking animatedly about the games and whatnots, he couldn't help the way his eyes kept wandering to the man.
He was easily one of the most beautiful human beings he has ever laid his eyes on and not to mention, he had this aura around him that was drawing him in.
When the shoot began, they all took their seats. It was fun and light-hearted as usual. The new MC was soft-spoken, gentle, and funny. Jungkook has been on several shows before. He has been on the same show for three years in a row and has known the MCs very well, but Jimin was a new face.
The new MC sounded truly passionate while he introduced them to the characters and other features of the game. It was a rare feat.
He was intrigued and invested. Jimin cracked jokes and mostly carried the show forward with his enthusiasm. Fifteen minutes into the shoot, Jungkook knew this was definitely one of the best shoots in his career. He never laughed so much in a show before or had so much fun. Jungkook made a note to talk to him after the shoot and continued to focus on the game.

Jimin was having so much fun. This was a dream for him and his team. A dream they had envisioned since the beginning of their second year in college. They had spent two years developing and designing the game. His team, who were in the audience section, cheered for him.
When he came to the shoot this morning, it was to go over everything with the two MCs. However, when the main MC fell unfortunately sick and the second MC did not know much about the game or its features, Jimin was brought in.
He was anxious until the camera started rolling but easily fell into his element because gaming was his passion. He dreamed of having these pro-gamers playing his game one day.
The gamers present today were all the leading ones in the industry. Jungkook was a two-time world champion and ranked in the top five best players internationally. Jimin was pleased with how far his team had come.
The first half of the shoot flew by and they were now at the second segment where the players should pair into a team of two and go against each other. So far, the results were unpredictable. Even the best player Jungkook seemed to struggle at times.
Out of the three games they played, Jungkook lost two and ranked third in one. But they were having fun and said the game kept them on their toes. It was not only challenging but was also interesting.
He loved the way Jungkook's eyes shone with interest and the way he reacted when he lost each time. Jimin knew firsthand how competitive Jungkook could be. After all, he was watching all these gamers for years. But today Jungkook was really having fun, even demanding to play one more time cutely.
When it was time for the team games, he was really excited. He never thought he would get to play with the players.
"You're gonna enjoy the next segment. You will pair up with another player and play as a team." The gamers cheered as the second MC continued to explain the rules. "Since we have only seven players today, one of us will join you."
The reaction was welcoming. They didn't really seem to mind even when Jimin said he wasn't good with games.
"And the team winning the final round will be rewarded one million won!"
Cheers and hollers erupted as their jaws went slack. The reward was kept as a surprise and Jimin could almost see the wheels turning in their heads as they tried to figure out who they would want in their teams.
There were now eight players in total. They played a small game to choose which four players would get to choose their partner themselves.
Jimin clapped as Ha-Kun, Kwang-Sun, Jungkook, and Dae-Hyun won the first round. The other four including him would have to wait for someone to pick them up.
"Ah, I really wanted to pick Jungkook," Ha-Kun lamented. "Now I'd have to play against him."
Jungkook laughed. "Better luck next time, hyung. I'm the one picking my partner today."
"Jungkook, choose me," Minjun, another player who lost the first round yelled.
Jungkook winked as the show carried on to the next round. The second round was a simple game of rock, paper, and scissors between the four.
As they played rock, papers, and scissors to see who would go first, Jimin waited eagerly to see who would pick him. They might not know it yet but he was the best player on his entire team and the only one with full knowledge of the game.
The first two players picked a fellow player who was already better in the game. It was only Jungkook and Dae-Hyun left now. Ha-Kun and Kwang-Sun hadn't even turned to his side when they picked up their partners. Just as he thought he would end up with the last one standing, he heard his name being called.
"I choose Jimin-ssi!"
His head whipped up to see Jungkook pointing at him with a nose-scrunching smile. He stood and went to his side while Dae-Hyun was left with Minjun who didn't get chosen earlier by default.
"I apologize that you're stuck with me," Jimin joked. "I'll try my best."
"Ah, that's okay," Jungkook brushed it off with a smile. "Let's just have fun."
They went over the rules for the round and Jungkook listened carefully, testing it out and taking the initiative to explain everything to Jimin. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he played along. He was really a trump card no one knew existed.
His teammates sent him knowing glances and lifted their thumbs up with several winks. Jungkook, unaware of everything, continued to walk Jimin through the game.
"Now let's play one round of practice game," the second MC announced.
Jimin followed Jungkook's lead, purposefully acting like he didn't know the game. He was slow and made a few mistakes, dying sooner. Their team came in last place.
"I'm sorry," Jimin said, feeling really bad. He didn't know why he did that.
"It's okay." Jungkook smiled. "You weren't that bad. You just need to watch your back. I'll protect you this time."
Jimin's smile widened.
"Jungkook-ssi, looks like you're really at a disadvantage this time," the second MC said. "Do you think you can win the next rounds?"
Jungkook waved his hand with a grin. "Ah, I wasn't ready this round. I failed to protect my partner. This time I know what to expect. Fighting!"
"I'm sorry, Jungkook-ssi," Jimin said again.
He leaned closer. "It's really okay. I meant it when I said let's have fun. It's okay if we lose. Let's at least kill a few of them before we go down."
Jimin's grin broadened. "Yeah, let's do that."
The real games began with a lot of anticipation. True to his words, Jungkook was stuck by Jimin's side, protecting him. Jimin was touched by his gesture. He also guided him carefully throughout the game. Jimin didn't need the protection but it was the first time someone did something like that in a game.
For someone so competitive and who didn't like to lose, Jungkook was really patient with him. However, there was a point in the game where Jungkook left Jimin in the safety of a hideout to go and fight the others alone.
But his plan backfired when someone ambushed him in the game. Jungkook was down, his health decreasing at an alarming rate. Only his partner could revive him and they had exactly thirty seconds before they lost the first round.
"Ah, shit," Jungkook cursed softly. "Sorry, we lost." He chuckled. "Guess that strategy didn't work out."
But Jimin only smiled at him before he emerged from his hiding. The seconds ticked down to twenty-five. He tuned out the game commentary and the other sounds around him. His fingers moved deftly over the keyboard.
Jungkook was surrounded by four assailants. His character attacked the first two, who didn't expect him, bringing them down and advanced stealthily toward Jungkook.
"What the heck just happened?"
"Who killed me?"
Jimin grinned as he hid behind a rock. The time was down to fifteen seconds. He changed his weapon swiftly, attacking the third and at the same time rolling over and running as fast as he could toward Jungkook. His character took a few hits and dodged the rest, reaching him with only five seconds to spare.
He injected Jungkook's character with a serum, reviving his health to the max, and ended the fourth enemy with a well-aimed headshot at the last possible moment. A brief silence washed over the studio for a moment before it exploded with cheers.
"Whoa!" Jungkook's eyes widened. "We are in sixth place now," he said. "You eliminated two teams yourself."
Jimin grinned. "Guess I can be good too."
Jungkook chuckled, getting over the surprise soon. "That was amazing. Let's try to kill a few more then."
"Yeah, let's do that."
From there, it was a rampage. Jimin obliterated anyone that came across them and Jungkook too. Together, they ambushed and got rid of the enemies, progressing ranks much to others' surprise. When the game ended, Jungkook's team emerged as victors.
"Damn. That's unfair. It ended too fast," Minjun complained. "Let's go one more time please."
Several voiced the same opinion even though it wouldn't change the final winner. So the next round resumed just for fun.
"You take the lead this time," Jungkook said to Jimin. "I'll follow you."
Jimin nodded and when the game started again, they once again proved how formidable they were together. The other teams didn't stand a chance as they won the next round in under ten minutes.
"That was amazing!" Jungkook exclaimed. "Are you sure you have never played this game before?" His eyes were wide as he went on about Jimin's signature moves.
"Well, it's hard to explain." Jimin chuckled.
"That's because he was the master brain behind the game," the second MC chimed with a broad grin. "Jimin-ssi was one of the main developers of the game. He was the hidden trump card in today's game. But he hasn't played outside of its testing phase. Isn't that right, Jimin-ssi?"
Jimin nodded. "It was a different feeling to sit here and play as a gamer. I had fun."
The second MC called in for a break and they relaxed in their seats, turning their mics off temporarily.
"Wow," Jungkook whispered beside him. "That was wow. You are amazing."
"Impressed?" Jimin teased, leaning toward him with a smile.
"Even before you played the game." Jungkook grinned sheepishly.
Jimin lifted a brow, shaking his head. "That was smooth."
"I was hoping to talk to you after the shoot," Jungkook said.
"Yeah? Were you going to ask me out then?" he teased.
"Yeah," Jungkook breathed, hope blooming in his eyes. "Would you have agreed?"
Jimin bit his lips suppressing the silly smile that threatened to spill. "As a date?"
"Yes. If that's okay with you."
Jimin looked ahead as they announced the end of the break. If his heart skipped a few beats at the resulting grin, he didn't show it as the shoot resumed. "It's a date then."
