Second
It was pouring rain as Jimin waited at the bus stop. The only other person there was a man, wearing a heavy black coat, on his phone. Jimin rubbed his arms, his own tan coat feeling heavy on his back. It was chilly; Winter was coming.
Though it was raining, the atmosphere was calm. It was even peaceful in a sense.
Up until he heard a distressed scream.
The man next to him was the one who made the noise. He was swaying on his feet almost violently as tears began to leave his eyes. "Are you okay?" Jimin walked towards him cautiously. The man collapsed and Jimin rushed to catch him before he hit the ground.
The taller held onto Jimin desperately, huge sobs racking his body. Jimin brought him to the bench at the bus stop, having them both sit down. He didn't say anything to the other man. Something had obviously happened to make him like this.
Jimin watched this man's life collapse in merely seconds, and he doesn't know why.
"I have know where to go," The man whimpered. "Everything is gone."
"What do you mean?" Jimin couldn't help but ask. The man did speak to him first after all.
"My mom, my dad, my sister," He listed. "They're all dead. They burned to death in my home-" He could barely finish the sentence before emotions took over his body once again.
"Oh my God," Jimin started tearing up as well. He's dealt with grief but he couldn't imagine all that happening at once. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
"I loved my parents so much," The taller spoke again. "And my little sister, my poor eight-year-old sister, she was my whole world. What do I do now that they're gone? I lost everything important to me. I don't even have any friends I can stay with."
"You can come home with me for the night," Jimin speaks without thinking, the single tear in his eye falling.
"Wh-What?"
"You lost your whole family," Jimin whispered. "And you have no one to go to. I know we're strangers, and it's so weird of me to offer, but you're grieving. You shouldn't be alone and I want to help. I'll comfort you in any way you need. My name is Jimin."
"Thank you Jimin," He cries harder. "I wouldn't accept your offer if I didn't really need it."
"Anything I can do."
"Mom..." He called out broken as the bus came. "Dad, my precious angel...she's a real angel now."
People stared as they got on the bus, but both were too preoccupied to either notice or care. The man whom Jimin still doesn't know by name continued to mumble, whimpering. Jimin just continued to hold him, offering as much comfort as he could to the stranger.
They got to Jimin's stop and they walked together in the pouring rain to Jimin's townhouse. They stepped inside, hair completely drenched, and both took their shoes and jackets off. Jimin showed the man to the living room, where he sat down. His tears had slowed.
"I should've been there," He shook his head. "I could've saved them. They all would've lived if I was there. But I just had to be working late!"
"You can't blame yourself..."
"No!" He burst out, scaring the shorter a bit. "You do not know what I'm going through!" His voice gets quiet. "No one does..."
And Jimin couldn't say anything. He didn't know how.
"Maybe if I go there tomorrow they'll be there," The taller's eyes brightened. "Maybe this is one practical joke! Jimin that has to be it, right?"
"I..."
"Tomorrow is Saturday, we'll go tomorrow to the house, you and me."
"It...It's not a joke," Jimin looked at him sadly. "There's no way it could be."
The man's face fell, and a new wave of heartbreaking tears came. "They can't be gone...they can't be."
The man's phone rings. Jimin picks it up before he can. "You're not in the right mind. I'll take it. Hello?"
"Hey, where's Jungkook?" The voice on the phone asks.
"Are you Jungkook?" The man can barely nod. "He's with me. Who are you?"
"I'm Taehyung, I'm his best friend," The guy answers. "Who are you?"
"I'm Jimin. Jungkook collapsed in my arms at the bus stop and he had nowhere to go so I offered to let him stay the night."
"You're a stranger?"
"Yeah technically, but I just wanted to help. Why couldn't he stay with you?"
"I live in Seoul, Busan is too far away," Taehyung explained. "I called because of the fire. It's on national news."
Jimin walked into another room before speaking, voice extremely low. "Okay, well we can't tell Jungkook that. He's not in the best condition right now. I don't know if he would want to hear that the death of his family is being broadcasted across all of South Korea."
"Okay, I get that," Taehyung agreed. "You know right now I'm just in shock. I loved that whole family."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
There was awkward silence after that. "Well I should take care of Jungkook."
"Yeah good idea. Thank you."
"Of course. Bye."
"Bye."
Jimin walked back into the room only to see Jungkook asleep. The crying must have exhausted him, so much to the point where despite all the grief fate was kind and just let him pass out. Jimin went to the small closet in the hallway and got out a blanket. It was a fluffy, slightly weighted one that would keep Jungkook warm. He also grabbed a pillow. He placed them for Jungkook, laying the pillow under his head and covering him with the blanket. He knew exactly what he was feeling now.
He's felt it too.
He knows what it's like so he has to help him. He just has to.
*
"Uh, Jimin?"
"Yeah?" Jimin sets his coffee down on the coffee table as well as the cup he made for Jungkook. He didn't know how he liked it so he brought in the carton of cream and whole bag of sugar as well.
"I know it's really not my place to ask you this," Jungkook took the drink as it was, simply black. His voice was quiet and raspy from all the crying, and his throat probably hurt. "I mean we barely know each other, but can you please come with me to my house today? I just...I'm scared if I'm alone I'll lose control of my emotions and do something stupid."
"I know exactly what you're talking about," Jimin nodded. "Of course I will. I had no plans anyways."
"What do you mean you know exactly what I'm talking about?" Jungkook accused. "How can you?"
"Because..." Jimin almost felt vulnerable saying this despite the tragedy that just happened to Jungkook. "Because my sister committed suicide when I was fourteen. She was my best friend, and after she left I wanted to go with her. I...I almost did. They found me and did CPR on my and I lived, but I hated myself for that. Why couldn't I save her? I blamed myself for it and for that I tried to hang myself. I went to therapy and they monitored me pretty closely and I slowly got better but...that wasn't the point of the story. What I'm saying is I get it. You're vulnerable and your emotions will take advantage of that." At some point in that Jimin began to cry.
"Oh," Jungkook responds. "...We're not so different Jimin, are we?"
"No," Jimin tries to smile. "I guess we're not."
*
The house was nothing but a few blackened beams and soot covering the ground. Police were still at the scene, investigating what caused it. Jimin watched as Jungkook just stared at it, no emotion.
They were so overwhelming they went numb.
"I don't even know what to think right now," He whispered. "24 hours ago this place was still standing." He teared his eyes away from the building, looking at the ground. "24 hours ago my family was still alive."
"Who are you?" A man in a police uniform walks up to them.
"I'm Jeon Jungkook," His voice cracked. "This was my home."
"I'm sorry for your loss Jungkook. Would you like someone to take you to the hospital to make plans for your family?"
"Plans?" Jungkook couldn't think straight.
"How you'll take care of your family, where you'll have the funeral," Jimin explained. "Stuff like that."
"Oh, okay, yeah," Jungkook nods, thoughts obviously still so cloudy.
"Officer Jung will take you," The police man nodded. "Hoseok!"
"Yeah!?"
"Take these guys to the hospital," The man instructed. "This is the son of the victims."
"Okay."
And Jimin helped Jungkook stumble to the police car.
*
"Hey Jimin?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for helping me even though we're strangers."
"We're not really strangers anymore," Jimin gave a small, a bit bitter, but not quite laugh. "Are we?" They were back at Jimin's house after a long day.
"No, I've known you for less than 24 hours an you're already one of my closet friends. More like one of the closest people to me.," Jungkook looks up. "You're coming to the funeral right?"
"Yeah," Jimin nodded.
"I don't really know where to go now," Jungkook frowned. "You're so kind but surely I can't stay any longer."
"You know what? Of course you can," Jimin stares at him. "You can even live here if that's what you need. After a little bit we'll split the rent, but you're grieving now, I don't expect anything from you at the moment. I have a guest room, but we can easily change it into yours."
"Really?"
"Yeah," Jimin nodded. "You need someone, and I know what you're going through to some extent. I don't want you to ever go through what I did, so I'm here to be here for you."
"Okay," Jungkook sniffs, this time slow tears. "Thank you again."
Jimin only nods, so transparently genuine. "Of course."
A/N: Okay hear me out
I know you're going to hire Penelope Garcia from the FBI to track me town and come at me with torches and pitchforks, but,
1) I know it's been 9 days, and I apologize so much, but it's been a really stressful week. Like I was just crying a few minutes ago (don't ask it was just because I'm overwhelmed) So I'm so sorry I never want to do that to you guys again.
2) Yes, this is platonic, and before you start screaming "THIS IS SO GOOD PART TWO!!!!" in the comments I've already decided I am doing a part two so watch out for that, okay? :)
It was Jiminie's birthday yesterday. I can't believe Baby's 24. And it's almost my two year anniversary of being an ARMY, which I say is October 30th, but I recently discovered that it was before that because on like October 22nd I had a dream of Yoongi teaching me to play the piano.
But yeah this baby's 24 :(

This is the most beautiful picture I've seen in a long time. And with all the long haired Jungkook shit that's been going around for months now that's saying something.
Speaking of Jungkook cut his hair. I started breaking into tears while writing this sentence I'm not joking there are real tears coming down my face.
See how stressed I'm getting?
Oh, now that I think about it, you know Jungkook won't go past Jimin's birthday just wishing him a happy birthday and that'll be that right? No, this is Jikook we're talking about. This is the couple that plans trips to Japan for each other, who comes all the way from Paris to see them on their birthday, Jungkookie wrote us a little code hidden in plain sight. And if you remove the sorrys from all the hashtags we get this;

Like um, how much more gayforward can you get? We've already established that Jungkook's not scared, and this is something that other shippers and at least the company will look over because let's be honest, I think a lot of Jikook stuff we notice gets unnoticed by the company which is great because that means Jikook will continue to do it. It's basically a confession. Now, granted the 'you know my heart' is actually 'you know how I feel' but still.
That's a really good point though. I mean, it doesn't really matter as long as Jimin knows how he feels, right? Of course they probably want us to know and we want to know as well, but it's truly only important that Jimin knows how Jungkook feels about him and the other way around, right?
And the I love you was without a sorry, but damn that's so sweet.
I mean Jungkook used to be so scared of stuff like that now he's out going "I love you!" At concerts after sucking Jimin's ear (you are never ever getting the end of that moment) and straight out saying I love you in posts. Of course, it could be overlooked because BTS all love each other so much, but Jungkook never says I love you to the others for their birthdays. I mean for Namjoon's birthday, whom he said was the only role model he will ever need in his life, he just said 'happy birthday'
Just something to think about...
Jikookies are taking the dub here :)
Let's see how crushed Taekook shippers will be when Jungkook doesn't tell Taehyung he loves him for his birthday.
"But, but, he'll say it to him in person he doesn't need to post it on Twitter"
If that was true why did he say I love you to only Jimin for his birthday? Why was Jimin the only one he got presents for multiple years in a row? Why did Jungkook have the flowers from Jimin's father and hide behind Namjoon when Yoongi joked that Jimin's father was right there?
He was a scared baby in 2017 ^^
Baby's just shy
But anyways, sucks that you don't have enough evidence Taekook shippers. Don't take it out on us.
Sorry about the hiatus again!
Love you all so so much!
I really hope I don't cry again, I'm kinda feeling it!
-Mikayla
