Jungkook's back ached as he stretched out. At his age, his wings were growing rapidly, growing pains giving him a daily reminder of that.
"It'll get better, don't worry Jungkook." Hoseok rubbed a cream on his back. It was supposed to help the muscles. But it really just burned until the pain went away.
"You've already forgotten what it's like Hoseokie." Jungkook pouted. "Ow." He winced. "Can I go out though?"
"You've gotta keep your shirt off though."
"I won't go far. I promise."
"Yoongi's not home with the others yet. You should stay till they're here."
"I'll be fine. It's not like I'll be shifting out there. Besides, it's an open field. No ones out there."
"Royal guards have been spotted."
"I won't be shifting." Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Please?"
"Fine. Be back before it's dark."
"Thanks." Jungkook went out the door of their house. It was hidden in the woods, which eventually opened up to an open field. If you trekked west, you would make it to the kingdom outskirts. Jungkook wasn't going there.
Instead, he went to the field, roaming around and trying to find flowers for a flower crown.
Hoseok was always so paranoid about his tribes outings. There hadn't been a casualty in a long time, almost half a year, but still, it was slightly nerve racking to know your race was constantly being hunted for sport. Their horns were valuable. Their wings were trophies. Their teeth were used for jewelry. It was rough.
Jungkook was still young though. Which, might be the worst age to be. They were hunted down the most often; less experience, less skill.
Jungkook didn't mind though. The urge to shift wasn't very high or often. Once a week at most. Stretch his wings, learn what type of dragon he was.
Yoongi was a water, his hair streaked a light blue, Hoseok a fire, hair streaked red and orange. Jungkook's hair was simply brown. He wasn't of age to know yet, but he did wonder what he might become. It was going to be fun. He would get a big ceremony for it, just like the others had. Their group was small, but it was full of love.
Jungkook had found a couple dandelions, not quite enough, before he saw Yoongi in the distance with two other dragons with him. They landed on the clearing, shifting quickly and looking around. They carried nets full of fish.
"A good catch today I see." Jungkook stood and walked back with them, missing the clearing already.
"Yep." Yoongi grinned. "You sure you don't wanna come tomorrow too?"
"Naw. I can't fly for that long yet." Jungkook smiled, walking beside Yoongi and taking a net of fish.
"Soon. You're way ahead any of us when we were your age."
"I wanna know when I'll be able to know what kind of dragon I am."
"Give it some time. It'll happen when it's supposed to. 18 is when I found out. And Hoseok found out when he was 19. It's not always "on time", you know?" Yoongi gave him a nudge.
"Ah, you're right. I just wish it was."
"It'll come when it comes." They entered their house, Hoseok happy to see them all, before taking some fish, the rest going in their freezer.
He started to skin them, Yoongi helping him out, the others going around and doing more chores.
Jungkook carefully walked up to him, hands behind his back.
"You know...tonight's supposed to be a full moon..."
"You're not allowed out after dark Jungkook." Yoongi replied plainly, helping Hoseok cook the raw fish.
"But the stars will be out, and the night will be calm. It won't even be cold."
"You know how it is. It's not safe at night for us." Hoseok warned, concerned already.
"I'll be fine. It's the perfect night. It's supposed to be a meteor shower."
Hoseok and Yoongi shared a look of concern. "Those...are popular nights."
"Come on. Who ever goes to our field? That clearing is empty. That's why we land there and take off there. I'm not a baby anymore."
"But you're...our youngest." Hoseok took a glance at Yoongi again before he shook his head.
"No, you're our son." Yoongi reassured Hoseok. "I'm not sure if we can let you go without us."
Jungkook remembered how his tribe was. Very loyal. Very family oriented. Very protective.
"Please."
"Let us think about it at least."
"Okay. After dinner?" Jungkook gave a last resort smile, the two smiling in return.
"After dinner."
Jungkook left to go sit on their porch. It was a rather large house in the woods, hidden pretty well behind the forest entrance. A nice spot where the trees don't touch, so they can get sunlight. A place of safety.
He watched the sun start to drop as he got called in for dinner. He sat at the fixed table, one of his family members having messed up one of the table legs that morning, happy that his back didn't sting anymore.
They ate as a family, the eight of them all happy to be together. Jungkook, Hoseok, and Yoongi were one family, sharing the house with another family of dragons. Blood was blood, it didn't matter to them. They had half the house, and they had the other. It worked out perfectly.
After dinner, Jungkook helped clean up dinner, before waiting for Hoseok and Yoongi's answer.
"You can't go."
Oo, a punch to the gut.
"Why not?"
"It's too risky."
"Yoongi...I think he should go." Hoseok nodded with a small smile. "It's close. If he yells, we'll hear him."
"I can't sleep if he's out there. That'll make me late to get more supplies tomorrow."
"We have a lot." Hoseok nodded, resting a hand on his arm. "I promise."
"Hoseok..."
"No, it's okay. It won't be like last time."
Yoongi winced before looking at Jungkook. "You promise if you're in danger, you'll call?"
"I promise." Jungkook understood the situation a little better now. Of course they were scared.
"Okay..."
"Thank you." Jungkook smiled. "I promise."
"Come back home safe."
"I promise I will." Jungkook smiled and went out the door, heading to the clearing once again.
It was his favorite place. Out of all the places he could be, seeing the night sky was his favorites. Not the river, not the woods, but the clearing. The stars seemed so bright away from the people and kingdom. It was so nice to be here, alone, just him and the stars.
He laid down on the grass, looking up at the stars and the moon. It all seemed so much bigger than usual.
He stayed there for quite a while. He sat up quickly, his ears picking up the sound of galloping. Just one horse, but oh god it was quick, oh fuck it was coming right to him-
Jungkook jumped up on his feet, hearing the horse neigh loudly as the rider reared him back.
"Oh god!" The rider turned their horse to the side, seeing Jungkook.
Shit, they saw him. Jungkook was silent, gulping audibly.
"Are you okay? I didn't see you there. Thank god you stood up." His voice was kind, and he did sound legitimately concerned. But Jungkook realized that he had been seen. He was going to be in so much trouble when he got home.
Maybe he could just run. No, if he saw some kid run into the woods, he would be concerned.
"Are you okay?" He asked again, Jungkook realizing he was taking too long to think and answer.
"I'm okay." He answered plainly, changing his voice slightly. It was dark enough that he couldn't make out the riders face, only his shape, with help from the light of the moon.
"What're you doing out here? This land isn't protected by the kingdom."
"Oh. I was watching the sky. Hoping to see the meteor shower."
"Oh, me too! Would you mind sharing the space with me?"
Jungkook was concerned about this. He didn't know who this was, nor if they were armed. "I...suppose."
"Lovely." He smiled and got off his horse, Jungkook backing away cautiously. "I'm not going to hurt you."
Jungkook analyzed him. He had a sword. His horse was fancy. He was royal. "I should get home."
"Oh? Need a ride home? It'll take a while to get back to the kingdom on foot." He sounded sad, but...questioning at the same time.
"Ah, then I'll stay here for the night." Jungkook hoped the rider would just leave so he could go home.
"Are you sure you're okay? Do you have a home?"
"Yeah. I'm sure." Jungkook kept his eyes on the rider, his horse wandering around and finding grass to eat. He saw the rider take a step closer.
"Are you scared because I'm a royal?"
"I'm not scared. I'm cautious."
"I'm sorry. For whatever you've heard about royals." He sat down, then lied down. "I'm actually not supposed to be here. My fathers been especially rude lately, and...I wanted to see the meteors without any pollution. It's more special this way."
Jungkook sat down cautiously. Why was this guy telling him anything?
"But I'll have go head back before morning." He looked over at Jungkook. "You think we'll meet again?"
"I hope not. You shouldn't come back."
"Why not?"
"Please. It'll make things worse. I'd...have to move again." Jungkook looked down. They'd already moved a lot, plus, their house was really good now.
"Move? Do you live out here?"
Jungkook felt himself start to tear up. He didn't mean to give it away.
"Please...please don't come back here. Don't bring men. Don't bring anyone."
"What if I come alone?"
"You're a royal. You're never alone."
The rider was silent for a while. "Your eyes shine brighter than the moon. They're reflecting light, aren't they?"
Jungkook shut his eyes quickly, hanging his head. "I'm stupid. I'm so stupid." He spoke quietly.
The rider sat up. "Hey, no you're not. How about...how about this. I'll keep your secret, if you tell me your name."
"Why do you want my name?"
"I want to help. I'm Jimin, Prince of Shor. I'm trying to get my dad to pass a law that will ban the hunting of dragons. And I've proven that you're just people like me. I think your lives matter more than anyone else." Jimin stared at Jungkook, Jungkook opening his eyes in shock.
"You...you mean that?"
"I mean that. Can I have your name? I want to remember you."
"It's Jungkook."
"Beautiful. I'll remember you Jungkook. Your eyes are beautiful. I'll leave now, so you can head home. Hopefully you have a shirt and shoes at home, otherwise I'll make another trip and give you clothes." Jimin stood up, calling his horse.
Jungkook realized how homeless he looked like. He didn't mind much. "I have clothes. Just don't wear them."
Jimin laughed, Jungkook gulping. It was a sweet laugh. "Good. I...hope to meet you again Jungkook." He waved goodbye, giving his horse a small gyap! and heading off.
Jungkook watched him go before he headed home, his head pounding. He'd keep all of that to himself. He'd tell his dads, ah, Yoongi and Hoseok about the stars and some falling stars, as he always would. Of course he couldn't tell them about the sweet boy who came and complimented his eyes.
He'd remember that compliment forever. Of course, he was barely 16 then, but a compliment from a beautiful person always seemed to stick around.
____
Jungkook happily looked in the mirror. His first streak of color! At 19! They'd start his ceremony today!
He was so excited. He touched the color, the light reds, blues, and violets were barely noticeable, but they were definitely there. Now he'd have to be more careful though. If a hunter saw him, they'd know immediately that he was a dragon shifter. The color threw the element of surprise.
But Jungkook didn't mind. He was a strong shifter already. Plus, once he figured out what his element was, he would get even stronger.
He smiled at himself in the mirror before heading out, Yoongi and Hoseok immediately noticing.
"Jungkook! Look at your colors!" Hoseok gasped with a smile.
"I know! It's so nice." Jungkook ran a hand through his hair. "I wonder what it means."
"Well, I thought maybe I'd get ice, but I got water. You've got so many colors, I can't even take a guess." Yoongi shook his head.
"Yeah, I'm not sure. We'll have to see what the moon decides."
"Ah, of course. She always decides." Jungkook smiled.
Tonight was going to be fun.
And it was fun. They made a large meal, the lot of them hanging out in the field, dancing, singing, candles and lanterns lighting their night. When midnight was settling in, Jungkook sat in the middle of their circle, laying down to stare at the moon.
Yoongi had told him about their histories with the moon.
"She always looks out for us. If you're ever scared, she'll protect you. We're born under the moon, and we gain power from being under the moon. When your day comes, you'll lay under the moon, and she'll show you what you are."
"That sounds funny. How do we know the moon is so powerful?"
"Well, dragon shifters who aren't born under the moon...they just become people. Regular people. And if they aren't under the moon when they get chosen...well...that's a worse story."
"Ah. When will my time come?"
"When you get color in your hair. That day, you'll become a real dragon shifter."
"Ah! How cool!"
Jungkook smiled as he remembered their talk. He stared at the moon, before he laughed.
"Lightning! She told me it's lightning!" Jungkook heard the circle clap and laugh. He didn't hear anything from Yoongi though. "Ah, she's telling me to fly. Can I fly?"
"You have to, if she's requesting it."
"She wants me to do it alone." Jungkook listened to the moon.
"Then so be it. Have the field tonight, we'll clean this up. Be home by morning." Jungkook could hear Hoseok's smile.
He stood, walked off a bit, before running and shifting, flying up into the air. Ah, it felt good to stretch his wings, to feel the wind. It seemed a storm was coming. Oh, the moon must've done this on purpose. The clouds started to roll in, the rain starting to pour.
Jungkook was able to try out his lightning. He breathed outwards, little by little, feeling the static come out. Then, I struck his back, going through him then out. It wasn't painful, but...it didn't feel too nice either. Crackling lightning struck down, Jungkook unable to see where it landed.
Eventually, he landed. The field was clear, the rain seeming to continue on for the night.
His senses told him to shift, his ears picking up a sound. He looked around, seeing someone shivering on the ground, somewhat away from him.
Shift and run. Shift and run Jungkook. Why wasn't he running? Why wasn't he shifting either? Jungkook felt his feet take him closer to the shivering person, covering them with one of his wings.
The person looked up, eyes wide and full of tears. "W-why?"
Jungkook shook his head. How could he respond to that? Instead, he let him come closer, shivering against his scales. He felt some heat inside him, hoping the poor boy wasn't going to die out here. Jungkook looked up at the moon. She was telling him to care for him.
Should he try to speak? Dragon speak was always a little harder. Plus...his electricity wasn't good for wet weather.
"Thank you." The boy spoke quietly. "I'm sorry."
Jungkook felt like he was familiar. Perhaps, the only boy he'd ever met.
"P...prince..."
He looked up at Jungkook in shock. He must not know that he could talk.
"I'm not going to hurt you! I promise!" He shook, Jungkook enclosing him in his wings completely, lying down for more comfort. Jungkook was making sure he was warm, and unable to be heard.
"Prince. You need to head home."
"I can't. They're so cruel at home. They don't care about you at all. I just need to find more research. Let me study you!" Jimin pleaded, grabbing onto his leg. "If I can study you I can help!"
Jungkook shook his head. "You need to go home." Jungkook tried to think. The rain wouldn't let up. But...Jimin didn't have a horse this time. "I'll take you home."
"No! Please, it won't be safe there for you. Just...let me come out here every once in a while. We'll talk, hang out, and I can study you."
"No. I need to stay safe."
"You're all alone."
Jungkook narrowed his eyes at Jimin. "I'm taking you home." Jungkook grabbed Jimin in his claws, making sure he wasn't hurting him.
"No! Let me go, let me go let me go-"
He continued yelling, pounding on his claws, Jungkook swooping up into the air. He held Jimin close to his chest, making sure the wind wasn't going to harm his ears, and the pressure of the atmosphere wouldn't hurt him. He set his eyes on the kingdom, making his way there. The castle was larger than any of the other buildings.
He made his was there, keeping above the clouds until he had to land somewhere. He scoped out the area, before finding a nice place to land. It turned out to be a courtyard. He set Jimin down.
"Please."
"No. Don't come back. It's not safe for any of us if you do. I don't care if you wish to study me. It's not safe."
"You're not safe if I do nothing. I need to do something."
"You can do something by letting things continue to be the way they are. We're fine." Jungkook watched Jimin. He looked angry.
"You're not. You don't know what's happening here. You don't know the laws they're trying to pass."
"Let them happen. We'll move again if we have to. We always live through the worst. It's normal. Let us be. Here." Jungkook scrambled to get an earring out of his ear. It was awkward, but eventually he got it. He gave it to Jimin.
Jimin took it with awe before becoming angry. "I- I won't!" Jimin yelled definitely angry, and a light came on from behind him.
"Jimin, is that you out there?" A voice made the two look at the light. "It's raining! Come inside right now prince!"
"Rrrrr." Jimin growled low, angry at Jungkook's defiance.
"Not used to people telling you no?" Jungkook grinned, Jimin's glare making him want to laugh. "Well, get used to it prince. Don't. Come. Back." Jungkook bared his teeth before flying off, Jimin getting pushed backwards by the force.
"Shit!" Jimin ran inside the castle, ignoring the calls of his name as he went to his room, taking off his clothes quickly and getting to his desk. He started to draw, going off of memory to draw Jungkook.
Ah, Jungkook. What a spoiled little dragon. His beautiful eyes and color, a stunning specimen, really.
Jimin would consider himself a scientist, but he mostly liked field work. He finished his sketch, then going on to write about it. His hyungs would love to look at it and ask questions. He'd wanted Jungkook to be more...open to the idea, but it seems a more immediate action would need to take place.
"He said we...then I'll bring him a compromise next time the moon is full. That boy seems to be out only then." Jimin spoke to himself, shaking his head. He held the earring out in front of him. The pure, tear shaped ruby jewel, dangled with a special glint.
____
Jungkook shifted barely outside of the kingdoms edge. He'd been in dragon form for too long. His back hurt a lot. He'd have to make his way back home. It would take all night.
He started his trek, head aching. His mouth felt dry, the static shocking his tongue occasionally. Maybe electricity wasn't going to be so fun.
____
Jimin barged into Namjoon's room, looking at his astrology notes immediately.
"Jimin! Knock!"
"That's prince Jimin." Jimin glared at him, already in a bad mood from Jungkook. He was too snarky, confident, and beautiful to be ignored. Jimin must have him. He stared at Namjoon's notes, writing some things down. "A month! Arghhhh." Jimin growled again, writing down the date the next full moon would be.
"What's happening?" Namjoon got out of his bed, putting on his glasses and a robe. "It's late. You're not wearing much clothes. What's happening?"
"Jungkook."
"Did you get him?"
"No. I'm going to take drastic measures next time. He will be mine."
"Hey...that...what is your goal?"
Jimin gave a heavy sigh. "I want to study him. And I want him for...personal reasons. If we can learn more about dragon shifters, then maybe my, dare I say father of mine might reconsider his...proposition. If they make it official to hunt down the last of them, I'll never have him." Jimin knew there was more too it. Something he couldn't explain.
"So you only want to save their whole race because you want that boy." Namjoon looked over some of his notes, picking up papers and reading through them. He looked out his window. "I need to update my telescope."
"Perhaps." Jimin finished taking his notes. "If you need the funds tell me. How's Seokjin doing?"
"You know, if your father would let us share a room, maybe we'd be able to ask him." Namjoon grumbled.
"God, that too. If only someone would kill him." Jimin tapped a finger to his chin. "I'm next in line."
"Jimin, you are...something else." Namjoon took a seat at his desk, organizing some things but mostly leaving it as a mess. He started to write things on a new paper. "You got anything new?"
"Yeah. Take a look at this." Jimin dropped his leather notebook on Namjoon's table. "Drew it from memory, so it's a little rough but his eyes are so mesmerizing." Jimin hummed, smiling and sitting on Namjoon's desk. "They turned blue when he shifted, but they're such a nice brown when he's not. They reflect light apparently."
"Jimin...that's amazing that you got such a close look."
"He told me not to go back. I'm going to get him next month. He will be mine." Jimin thought of plans he could make happen. "I'll ask Taehyung to help. He's tough. Ah, I need to visit Seokjin. He'll make sure an event happens that day."
Namjoon shook his head. "The next full moon should be on your fathers birthday." He wrote down more things, Jimin stealing a glance and glaring at the words. He didn't understand much.
"Perfect. I'm never there anyways. No one will notice. Still, I'll make sure Jin knows to make it big. And to leave the side entrance unlocked. He'll make it happen." Jimin laughed. "I'm going to have so much trouble keeping him here without anyone knowing." He smiled. "Won't that be fun."
"You're crazy."
"People tend to do crazy things when they're in love, don't they?"
"Mm, I don't think so. But the brain does understand love almost the same as it understands cocaine. That's a crazy thing."
"Huh. That doesn't sound fun."
"Also, what the fuck your highness. Love? You've barely met the kid."
"He makes me sick to my stomach with butterflies. Did I tell you the way he treated me? I love it." Jimin shook his head. "I hate how much I love it."
"Can I study alone now? Are you done annoying me? If you go to Jin's room, send him over to me when you're done. He's been waiting for me to finish my nap."
"Jeez, fine. At your service." Jimin jumped off the desk and bowed low, before glaring at him and leaving to Jin's room.
He'd listen better. He entered his room, going over and lying on his bed. "Namjoon wants you."
"Oh, perfect. I was just about to check on him. What're you doing so late at night? And why aren't you wearing much clothes?"
"They got wet. Wanna make dads birthday spectacular for me? Will you make sure the drinks are extra good? Make sure he's drunk. I can't be having any problems on his, very good day." Jimin looked at his nails.
"What...are you planning young man?" Jin stood from his chair. "I am one of your fathers right hand men, you expect me to do what?"
"To do what you always do. Help me. He's a lying bastard who wants ultimate power no matter what. He wants dragon scales as a trophy, and he wants us poor, poor men to be straight. You want that to be our future? I don't think so. Not as long as he keeps letting me go right under his nose. Not as long as I've got you and Namjoon hyung. Tae's with me too."
Jin looked down. "I helped you tonight. But I don't know..."
"It's his birthday." Jimin sat up, raising an eyebrow at Seokjin. "It'll be easy."
____
Jungkook dropped down on his bed, the sun just about rising.
Hoseok came into his room. "Oh perfect, you're back just for breakfast."
"Let me sleep." Jungkook groaned into his pillow.
"Take a shower."
"Might shock myself."
"Ah. Then we'll pour buckets of water on top of you until you yell at us to stop." Hoseok laughed, Jungkook giving a tired laugh.
"Can't get up."
"What happened?"
"Had to walk home. It wasn't fun. It was cold and rainy."
"Well, the moon must've punished you for some reason."
Jungkook grumbled. She was the one who told him to take Jimin home. Now she was punishing him for listening to her? Rude.
"Well, sleep well. We'll make dinner together with the others."
"Aight." Jungkook gave a thumbs up before sleeping.
____
Jungkook couldn't have know the trouble he was going to be in.
After that night, taking Jimin home, he didn't go out to the field anymore. Instead, he went with Yoongi on their food gatherings. It was fun to go to a nice place to shift and fish as a person. He loved bonding with Yoongi. He was like a dad in the way he taught Jungkook, and he even praised Jungkook no matter what he did.
It had been maybe another few months. Jungkook wasn't counting anymore. Instead, he was busy helping his family eat and learning how to control his power.
Yoongi had given him a long lecture about the power of lightning dragons, how they were ancient beings once, and the supreme dragons. They have devastating power, and tended to be hunted the most.
That was why Yoongi and Hoseok were so cautious on his presenting night.
Hoseok had given him a long lecture about how Jungkook must practice daily to control his powers. His shifting would tend to make the sky rain. He had control over the sky if he so pleased. Yet, it tended to rain only on full moons.
Jungkook was only 19 though, so he would have time to practice. After all, dragons lived for longer. It was in Jungkook's blood to take his time to control himself.
But his time ran short.
Jungkook heard the moon call him, so he told Hoseok he would be going out to the field.
He made his way there, seeing Jimin with his arms crossed. He was staring up at the sky, a horse and...another person with him.
Jungkook started to back up, but Jimin saw him, Jungkook freezing.
"Jungkook! It's so nice to see you."
"I told you not to come back."
"How could I leave my little dragon shifter?"
"If you're here to kill me don't even try it."
"I'm not here to kill you. I'm here to talk to you."
"I don't trust you." Jungkook wished he would just stay at home like the others. He felt a sting in his back after saying the words.
"I never said you should. I simply said I wouldn't hurt you."
Jungkook bared his teeth slightly.
"Ohhh, I see. So animalistic already. Taehyung." Jimin snapped just fingers, the other person giving Jimin the reigns of the horse.
Jungkook backed up more as Taehyung moved forward. Shit, he was in royal armor, the best of the bunch. Maybe he could just...
Jungkook watched Taehyung reach for something in his pocket, but Jungkook reacted faster, moving forward and pushing Taehyung to the side, running past him. He might as well lead them away from their forest.
This interaction was different from the other times. Jimin wasn't begging or kind this time. He seemed angry and demanding. What a privileged prince. Bringing someone else with him...Jimin wasn't playing anymore. He was going to take Jungkook away. Oh god, how would he warn his family? Hoseok and Yoongi wouldn't be okay with this!
"Jungkook!~" he heard Jimin call out to him. "I just want to talk. We can make a deal!" Jimin yelled out, laughing a little.
Jungkook heard the galloping of the horse coming up on him, hoping he could- no, shifting was immediate death. He knew Taehyung had something lethal. Jimin wouldn't get blood on his own hands.
Instead, Jungkook dogged the direct horse attack, throwing himself to the side. Taehyung circled him with the horse, before jumping off and grabbing Jungkook's arm, pulling him up and onto his knees.
He put his hands behind his back, tying them in rope, before grabbing his hair and making him look up at Jimin, who strode over.
"I see you've come to your senses. I'll take you and leave your family. That's the deal."
"You promise they'll be okay?" Jungkook glared at them. "And you'll send them a nice little note and tell them the situation?"
"Oh, sure. Just give me an address. Oh wait." Jimin smiled. "You guys don't exist."
"Just leave it in the field. They'll find it."
"Don't feel like it."
"Then I'm going to shift and fucking eat you." Jungkook growled, feeling a storm coming on.
"Oh, then no need. I'd prefer to be alive when I free your race."
"Don't give me that." Jungkook snarled. "You don't care about my race at all!"
"Does that matter? I'll free you all. Just so I can have you." Jimin grabbed Jungkook's face, smiling. Jungkook shook his head, hating his face. It was too happy at the situation.
"Do as I say. Write a note."
"Oh. Oh my. Taehyung, he just told me what to do! I can't believe this. The last man who tried to tell me what to do was beheaded in public. Whatever could your punishment be?"
Jungkook laughed. "Obviously you need me. You won't do a god damn thing to me."
Jimin looked shocked before he glared at him. "Fine. Taehyung...ah, I don't need to tell you what to do." He rolled his eyes and turned around, rummaging through his pockets. "To Jungkook's nice, dragon shifting family. In return for your lives, I've taken Jungkook. Sincerely, the Prince. Done. Sounds good?"
"That's it?"
"You wanted more?" Jimin laughed. "Cute. They don't matter." He hopped up on the horse, Taehyung picking up Jungkook and throwing him on his stomach, right behind Jimin.
"Oof." Jungkook felt his ankles get tied together too. The last thing was a blindfold. "Oh come on. All of it? A gag too, perhaps?"
"If you don't shut your mouth, then maybe." Jimin giggled at Taehyung's statement.
"Great." Jungkook huffed.
"Alright Taehyung, thank you. Head on back. I'll meet you there."
Jungkook heard the sound of shifting and wings flapping away, being left alone with Jimin.
"He's...a shifter?"
"He's my best friend."
"If you have a fucking shifter with you at the castle, then, pray tell, why the fuck do you need me?!" Jungkook yelled, Jimin laughing.
"Oh Jungkook. No one's you. No one comes close to you. It's almost like the moon draws me to you. I need you. And by the end of it all, I'm going to make you need me too."
Jungkook wished he could glare at the moon. Why the fuck did she bringing Jungkook to this lunatic?! Why would she do that?! He was going to die here.
"Or you're just trying to find an easy dragon shifter to kill. Save your friend. Kill a random."
"Oh Jungkook. I would never let them kill you. And my friend, he's fine. He's been in the business for a long time. He knows when he's safe and when he's not. He's a talented soldier, and an amazing friend. Don't even compare him to yourself."
"Wow, thanks. Guess I'm just dirt."
"God, why are you like this. Don't compare yourself to him. You're both on different levels. That doesn't mean your level is bad."
"Yeah, cause my level is the best."
"Why don't you tell me about it?"
"Cause I'm your fucking prisoner. Why the hell would I tell you anything?"
"Because you're going to have to."
"I could slide off this horse and die if I wanted to."
"Then I'd go back and chose a family member of yours. But I don't want them. I want you."
"Well, boo hoo little Prince, you're not used to not getting your way. Spoiled brat!"
"Jesus christ why are you like this?!" Jimin yelled at him, Jungkook laughing.
"It's funny to hear you get so upset over the smallest things. Like me not agreeing with you. Does your daddy spoil you? Are you a mommy's boy?" Jungkook hid behind his fear with sarcasm.
"Shut your goddamn mouth." Jimin growled.
"Hey, sorry to disappoint, but it's going to rain tonight. The moon told me so. So this time don't cling to me, I'm not going to keep your whining, lying ass warm."
"The moon speaks to you?" Jimin raised an eyebrow, Jungkook groaning.
"Fuck off."
"Ah, what a tongue you have." Jimin laughed. He didn't have a problem with Jungkook being cheeky. He did have a problem with Jungkook not listening to him though.
"I have a feeling your tongue is forked."
Jimin couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth. "I am not the devil."
"You're a lying snake."
"I can't shift though. Makes me less interesting."
"So that's it? I'm just interesting to you?"
"What else might you be?"
Jungkook felt a twinge of pain in his chest at that statement. Jungkook stayed silent the rest of the ride, occasionally giving out small exclaims of pain. "This isn't comfortable."
"You're my prisoner. You think it's supposed to be comfortable?"
"I'm not a prisoner if I allowed myself to get captured is it?"
Jimin shook his head, heading into the kingdom. It did look like it was going to start raining. "It counts."
"Humph." Jungkook huffed, continuing to stay quiet. He'd have to be more careful with his words.
The horse slowed down, Jungkook feeling every bump in his stomach.
"Ah, is this him?" Jungkook heard another persons voice. It wasn't Taehyung either.
"You think I would've gotten anyone else?" Jimin snapped, Jungkook shaking his head.
"Damn, you really don't care about anyone's feelings? How cold." Jungkook shook his head, calling out Jimin.
"Jimin. Bring him on over." The voice seemed to move away from them, Jimin helping Jungkook off the horse. Someone else took the horse away by the sound of it.
"Oh fuck." Jungkook was picked up, and thrown over a shoulder. This was not Jimin. Jimin was definitely too weak to pick him up. "Hey, lemme down. Just cut the ropes and I'll walk."
"Shut it Jungkook. We need to be quiet if you want to live to see tomorrow."
"Well, maybe I should keep talking then."
"If they find out that I have you they're going to skin you." Jimin grit his teeth, being quiet.
"Still working on that law I see. No more crying over it? Last time you were crying. Is that what happens when you don't get your way?"
"Okay, will you stop with that? I'm not spoiled."
"You speak and act like it." Jungkook heard a small chuckled from the person carrying him.
"Jin!" Jimin hissed, keeping quiet.
"What? It's funny that you're being talked to like that. Now Namjoonie, how about you go on ahead and keep the way to Jimin's room empty."
"Sure thing." Namjoon walked off. Jungkook felt Jin shift his body to better hold his weight.
"Jimin, you need to be kinder with your words. Namjoon's sensitive."
"Then why is he here? Fathers not so nice to him either."
"So you're going to be just like him?" Jin questioned, moving forward.
"Mm. No." Jimin sounded somewhat defeated. Jungkook would keep that in mind. Maybe Jin was someone who could help him out of here.
They kept quiet, Jungkook realizing this situation might actually get him killed. He kept quiet. Jimin suddenly exhaled deeply.
"Okay, that's done with. Jin...thank you. Namjoon will be busy with some others, won't he..."
"Yes. And I've got to go check up on your father." Jungkook was set down on a bed. He sat patiently.
"Okay. If you see Namjoon or Tae, send them my way. If not, then it'll be morning when we discuss this."
"Understood. Get some sleep tonight."
"I will."
The door closed.
Jungkook relaxed his face, his blindfold being taken off. He glared at the eyes smiling back at him.
"See, isn't it so much better when you listen to me? Now there's no need for either of us to get in trouble." Jimin took a glance at his door.
"What's the plan now sweetheart?" Jungkook kept his glare.
"Well...how much will you talk?"
"I won't." Jungkook nearly growled.
"You said the moon speaks to you. Can you explain that?" Jimin went over to two large doors, opening them and changing his clothes. Jungkook widened his eyes at the size of his closet. Who...who needs all those clothes?!
"You'd have to go to my friend Taehyung if you'd like a change of clothes. I forgot to get some beforehand."
Jungkook looked away. He moved to the edge of the bed, getting his hands from behind his back, sitting on them, then moving them under his legs and feet to in front of him. He set them in his lap, working them off.
"Hey, don't do that."
Jungkook put the rope to his mouth, gnawing on it with his sharper teeth.
"Jungkook. Don't do that." Jimin walked over, grabbing Jungkook's wrists and pulling them away. "You're seriously not going to talk?"
Jungkook stared at Jimin, anger eminent.
"Fine." Jimin pushed him backwards roughly, straddling him.
"What!-" Jungkook tried to move, but Jimin grabbed his face, opening Jungkook's mouth a little wider with one hand, a flashlight in the other.
"Wow! You've got such nice sharp teeth. Your tongue too, it's forked! And you were telling me I was a reptile." He kept poking around in Jungkook's mouth, Jungkook got his hands and tried to push him away, unsuccessfully. Jimin simply grabbed the roped and moved Jungkook's hands above his head.
"Ge-get off of me!"
"I'm just inspecting. I need to know everything about you." He moved the flashlight to Jungkook's eye, Jungkook closing his eyes immediately. "Open your eye."
"What-"
"Open it!" Jimin growled, Jungkook opening his eyes. The light made his eyes dilate. "Incredible." He turned the light off, Jungkook blinking a lot. "What else about you is part and part? Your eyes have this brilliant blue in them that I can barely see. When you were shifted, they were completely blue, but now...they're that soft brown."
Jungkook watched Jimin excitedly throw things from his pocket, before getting a leather notebook and a pencil. He started writing things down. He looked cute when he was excited.
No.
What the fuck?
What the fuck was that?
No. Jungkook ignored that. Instead...he flipped Jimin off of him with his legs.
"Gack!" Jimin almost quacked, hitting the other side of the bed. Jungkook stood up quickly, teeth on the rope again. He got through it, getting it off before squatting and getting the ones around his feet. "If you leave you're dead!" Jimin yelled, standing on the bed and moving forward.
"You don't scare me." Jungkook kept untying the knot. Jimin stepped down beside him, hand on his shoulder.
"I'm not trying to scare you. I'm trying to tell you what will happen. My fathers guards aren't like my friends. They will kill you. Your hair...is a dead giveaway."
"Then I'll need a hat. Better, I'll need a balcony." Jungkook got his legs free, shrugging off Jimin's hand. "You're being outrageous."
He walked towards Jimin's balcony, Jimin stopping him once again.
"Jungkook. Don't go out there. It's going to poor rain anytime soon." Jimin's voice softened. He was starting to calm down it seemed.
"I know. I need to be out there." Jungkook looked back at Jimin. "You picked a bad day."
"What do you mean?"
"The moon...I need to be out there." Jungkook went forward, opening the doors and going out, he laid down on the balcony, looking up at the sky.
Jimin sat down inside, watching. "What're you doing?"
"Listening."
"What does the moon say?"
"She's telling me some bullshit."
"Like?"
"She's telling me to help you. Which, is bullshit, by the way." Jungkook sighed deeply.
"Why does she want you to help me?" Jimin wrote things down.
"Beats me. You're a liar. I'm not sure what she wants...from...me. Me. Oh." Jungkook understood now. He was a new generation of dragons. A lightning dragon...was...a king...of dragons. Jimin was a prince, soon to be king. She wanted them to fix things.
"What did she say?"
"We need to make that law happen. You need to become king."
"I'm working on it sweetheart. I can't just kill off my dad that easily." Jimin watched Jungkook exist in the rain. It didn't look half bad. "Can I lay with you?"
"No. I'm not keeping you warm. And I'm not taking your lies anymore." Jungkook sat up, looking over at Jimin. "I can't trust you."
"Why not?"
"The first time I saw you...you were kind, you called my eyes beautiful, and you gave me hope that maybe I didn't have to live in a forest. Then, the second time, I found you lying in my field, shivering cold. You would've died if I hadn't given you warmth. And you clung to me, cried, telling me about my importance." Jungkook laughed in disbelief. "And now you stole me! For what?"
"I want you." Jimin said it easily.
"You're manipulative."
"You remembered me."
"How could I forget?"
"How old are you?"
"Go to hell." Jungkook laid back down, hurt. "Gotta shift. Is it safe?"
"Ah. Namjoon's balcony is bigger. Go next door if you need to."
"It'll be fine here." Jungkook took a glance at Jimin before shifting in front of Jimin's eyes. He watched in awe. It was like a flash of lightning, his shift quicker than he could've ever imagined. His blue eyes closed. Jimin started drawing him, trying to do better this time.
"You...do have beautiful eyes. That has always stayed the same. And I do apologize for my...behavior. I was upset with what was happening in my house. I wanted to make sure you were safe, but it was raining and I was stupid. Thank you for taking me home."
"What's your motive?" Jungkook spoke lowly, opening his eyes to glare at Jimin.
The blue made Jimin narrow his eyes. He wanted to capture it in his drawing.
"I want you."
"What?"
"You heard me."
"No, what the fuck? What do you mean you want me? You want me to study? To kill? To torture, to keep as a trophy? What do you want?" Jungkook stood up, baring his teeth.
"I want you...to help me make the law happen. And...I want you." Jimin smiled and kept drawing.
"I don't get it. What do you mean?"
"I want to be with you."
"...and here you are."
"God damn it Jungkook." Jimin set his notebook down, glaring at Jungkook. "I mean I want to date you. Be in a relationship. Be together. Is that clear now?"
Jungkook laughed, Jimin seeing some static in his mouth. He wrote that down.
"Be together? You must have a loose screw. We don't get together with people. It's not going to happen."
"You can only be with other shifters?"
"How else are we going to reproduce? There's...never mind."
Jimin watched Jungkook looked up at the sky before laying down and closing his eyes again.
"Do you hatch from eggs?"
"Do your people really know nothing about us?"
"No. What we do know is how to kill you. Which, in my opinion, is extremely rude."
"Well, we know how to kill you as well." Jungkook huffed. "But the feeling is mutual."
"Can you answer my question?"
"...we don't hatch from eggs. We're more human than dragon. But it's our dna that allows us to shift. Do..." Jungkook looked up at the sky again. "Mm." He looked back at Jimin. "Do you have some spare clothes?"
"I can go get some. But you have to promise me you won't leave."
"Sure."
"Say it."
"I promise I won't leave." Jungkook nodded at Jimin who got up and ran off, almost skittish.
Jungkook delicately tried to close the doors, incase someone else came in, but only got one closed. He hoped maybe he'd get lucky. He looked up at the moon. Why was she being so talkative tonight? Out of all the nights to be guiding, why tonight?
Stay.
"I don't want to." Jungkook mumbled.
That was all she would say at the moment. But...she'd told him to keep Jimin. Kin, and kings. That's who Jungkook was allowed to be around according to his history books, but Jungkook didn't care. He was a young dragon, and if he wasn't careful, he was going to be a dead dragon.
Jungkook picked up a noise, hiding behind the one closed door as best he could.
"Jimin? You in here? Your father is asleep now, thank god. Such a hassle." It sounded like one of Jimin's helpers. Was this...what was his name...
Jungkook tried to remember. J...it was definitely a J. Or was it? No, it definitely was a J.
"Jin!" Jungkook stood up happily after getting it, until he realized he'd spoken out loud.
"Oh?" Jin walked over, opening the door a little. Jungkook stared at him, unsure what to do. "He got you to shift?" He spoke softly. Jungkook liked that.
"No. I had to."
"Full moon?"
Jungkook nodded.
"Thought so. Jimin's been studying dragon shifters for so long, even we've picked some things up. I'm Kim Seokjin." He smiled. Jungkook was confused as to how Jin could manage to be around Jimin. Jimin seemed so rude to him.
"...Jungkook."
"No surname?"
Jungkook shook his head. "Sometimes we have tribe surnames, but we decided against it. More individuality."
"That's so interesting." Jin looked over Jungkook's body. "Oh...let me look you over when you've shifted back. It seems your wings are...in pain. I'm a doctor, sorry. Namjoon's a astrologist."
"And Taehyung?"
"He's a soldier. One of Jimin's personal protectors."
"Mm. He's a shifter too." Jungkook laid down again staring at Jin.
His eyes were piercing, making Jin stutter. "H...he is."
"What kind?"
"...what will you do with the information?"
"Keep it."
"Let's trade then. What kind are you?"
"You say it first."
"He's an earth based dragon shifter."
"Oo, I've never met one in person. I've heard they're very strong though."
"And you?"
"...water."
"That's cool!" Jin nodded along with Jungkook's words.
"Thanks. Hey...how'd a dragon shifter get a job as a soldier?"
"Taehyung...has his ways. He's Jimin's best friend, so he got an in without having to do much. But after that, he and Jimin have been working together on some projects."
"Does the king know?"
"Of course not."
"Why not?"
"Jimin doesn't want his best friend skinned and murdered." Jin shook his head. "The king is a...bad person."
"And you work for him...?"
"I do. I'm his...advisor. I make a lot of laws happen. Namjoon is closer to him though."
"Ah. I see. So that's why Jimin is friends with you. Or, acquaintances I should say."
"No, we're friends. He's not always as terrible as you see him to be. He's got a lot of other things going on."
"Well, that doesn't mean he should be an asshole." Jungkook huffed.
Jin laughed. "You're right."
"In my house, there's only kindness and love. I'm sad that...that is not the case here."
"Hey...sorry he kidnapped you. On behalf of him, I'll apologize. His intentions are good, but his actions are...forceful."
"Yeah, real forceful." Jungkook grumbled. "I don't know how you can stand him."
"If I had a choice, I would've never gone into medicine. But, being born into royalty isn't exactly a fair life."
"Freedom is amazing." Jungkook shook his head. "When can I leave?"
"Whenever Jimin decides you can."
"Mm. Doesn't sound good."
"Well...at the moment, he has to become king to make a law pass."
"I'm not eating a king."
Jin laughed. "I wasn't suggesting that. We've been trying to get him to simply resign for a couple years now. But...that old mans still kicking. He also doesn't trust Jimin."
"Well...makes sense."
"But Jungkook? You should know-"
"I'm back!" Jimin bursted into the room, handful of clothes. Taehyung was right beside him, also with a handful of clothes. They were both grinning widely. "Oh! Jin! I'm so glad you're here. Is Namjoon done?" He went to his bed, flopping the clothes there for now.
Taehyung started to organize them. "He said he'd show up here if he finished boring them with astrology stuff."
"There was only two people in our way right?"
"Yeah. I think." Taehyung shrugged. "What do you like handsome? I've got clothes for any occasion."
Jungkook glared at him. His hair didn't have any color in it, meaning he got lucky and his color was the same as his hair, or he dyed it. If he dyed it, Jungkook was going to have a problem with that.
"Well?" Jimin raised an eyebrow at Jungkook.
"Something light."
"Sure thing. What're you?"
"What am I?"
"Yeah. I'm rock based. It's nice to go to a cave and be in the earth. You're in the rain. What are you?" Taehyung asked casually, but Jungkook could hear the seriousness under it.
He contemplated saying a lie and telling the truth. Taehyung looked smart, even though his smile was trying to seem otherwise.
"Well?"
"...water. Just like my dad."
"I see. That explains the rain." Taehyung laughed, but Jungkook watched his eyes grow cold, staring at Jungkook. He knew he was lying. Jungkook looked away.
Jimin got his notebook out, writing things down. "Amazing! What can you do?"
Jungkook shook his head. "I'm not old enough yet."
"Ah. What age is old enough?"
"Depends."
"Stop being vague."
"Ask Taehyung." Jungkook huffed, looking up at the sky again.
"He didn't grow up in a tribe."
"So it seems." Jungkook shut his mouth after that.
"Jimin, it's been a long day. We should all get some rest. You've got a long day tomorrow too."
"Oh god, I forgot to get Jungkook some food. I'll be right back. Goodnight Jin! Taehyung, keep him company for me will you?" Jimin smiled before rushing out of the room again.
"Goodnight Taehyung. Goodnight Jungkook. Sleep well." Jin left the room, Jungkook being left with Taehyung.
Jungkook anxiously looked anywhere but Taehyung.
"So...you gunna...shift and get warmed up? Or are you going to show me some water stuff. You know..." Taehyung folded the rest of the clothes. "Water dragons tend to be small and lean, best for swimming and not meant for flying so much. You don't have light blue scales either. Yours are very, very dark."
"Look...I can't trust any of you. You kidnapped me. You left a note, which is by now soaked and ineligible. I don't know why Jimin needed me when he has you. For all I know, I'll be dead by morning."
"You won't be, I can assure you of that. You've been on Jimin's mind ever since you two first met, and he's got no intention to harm you. He's trying to find out everything he can so he can defend you. I'm...not much help to him actually." Taehyung laughed a little, walking closer to the large balcony.
Jungkook stood and bared his teeth, his wings outstretching to their full length.
"Woah there, woah- woah there." Taehyung kneeled on one knee, bowing his head. He looked up immediately though, eyes wide. "I knew it! You're!-"
"Don't!" Jungkook hissed, the rain hitting his back harder. "Don't say it."
"You know Jimin won't figure it out."
"Once that law is passed I'm leaving." He felt a sting in his back.
"Jungkook, you know what's supposed to happen then. You're the king. You're the one meant to bring peace."
"I don't want it. I want to go home. Live my peaceful life."
"You're the dragon king. You were never meant to have a peaceful life." Taehyung stood up.
"I need to fly. Lightning will strike soon, and it sure as hell wouldn't be good for it to strike here." Jungkook watched Taehyung nod.
"I'll tell Jimin when he comes back. You'll be back, right?"
"I don't have much of a choice."
"If you get spotted?"
"Then let there be fear. I won't be hiding too much." Jungkook grinned. He flew off, a gust of wind and rain hitting Taehyung.
Jungkook went as high as he could as fast as possible, his dark scales fitting into the cloudy sky. He felt lightning his his back, going through him, and out his mouth. It was rough, but he was getting better at it. He could still taste the static in his mouth, but his back wasn't taking as much damage anymore.
He still didn't understand his ability much. It was hard to grasp and even harder to use. He was supposed to be able to do it without it hitting him at all, just command it within him. But he only had one chance a month to do it. The full moon was his only time to practice.
He landed back on the balcony, breathing a little heavily.
"Jungkook! Are you okay?" Jimin sounded worried. He looked into the room. Taehyung was gone.
"Fuck." Jungkook shifted immediately, hands and knees on the balcony. He breathed heavily, the static crackling in his mouth, hurting a little. He shut his mouth.
"Come on inside, I'll get a fire going." Jimin didn't exactly want to get wet again, but he went out to help Jungkook up anyways. He helped him to the fireplace, quickly getting it going, before getting him a towel from the bathroom to dry off with, then getting him clothes, then the food. He felt like a servant.
"C...can you get Jin?" Jungkook finally spoke, shivering in the towel by the fire. He ate a little of the food.
"Sure." Jimin went over to Jin's room, knocking and entering quietly. "Jin?"
"Oh? Come on in."
"Actually...can you come to my room?"
"Sure." Jin stood from his chair, walking with Jimin back to his room.
Jungkook had put some underwear and pants on, but he left a shirt off. He ate some more of the food Jimin had brought him, but mostly, he was just leaning in on himself. He looked like he was in pain.
"Oh gosh, what's wrong? Let me take a look at that back of yours." Jin went over quickly, Jimin right behind him. They looked at Jungkook's back, moving the towel.
"Oh shit."
His back had a black spot in the middle of his spine. It looked like a serious wound, but Jimin had never seen anything like that before. It was deep, and it splayed outwards, like it had been hit plenty of times.
"...what do you usually use to treat this?" Jin kneeled, one hand on Jungkook's shoulder, the other on the floor to become eye to eye with Jungkook.
"Dunno. My dads usually help me..." Jungkook winced. "But someone chose the worst day of the month-"
"Hey, we've already gotten through the harsh feelings. Let's try and fix the problem. Tell me what they used. Was it plant based, a paste, a liquid?"
"It was a cream. I can't remember it, I wasn't into medicine. I was a hunter."
"Then I'll get a cream we use here, but it won't be enough. Definitely not enough. You might take more time to heal than usual." Jin quickly left, Jimin feeling guilty.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I'm desperate."
"Don't. Apologize." Jungkook kept his hands on the floor, curled into himself. He wasn't shivering anymore at least, but his back hurt like hell. "It'll...all makes sense in the end."
"Still. I should've thought before I acted on my anger."
"Well...that's true." Jungkook laughed a little.
"What happened for this...injury? What is it?"
"It's a side effect of being stupid."
"How is this stupidity?" Jimin reached out a hand before retracting it. He wasn't going to overstep his small welcome.
"I can't control my powers yet."
"Oh? What are they?"
Jin came back into the room. "You know, it's almost 3am and I have an early day tomorrow. You better appreciate this Jimin. Jungkook, I have some ointments that have healing factors in them. I don't feel like explaining them. But I'll have to bandage you up. Sound okay?"
"Sounds good." Jungkook sat up, Jin putting on the ointment, then wrapping Jungkook's torso with gauze.
"I'll check up with you again tomorrow. But for now...try not to sleep on your back. Goodnight you two." Jin shook his head, leaving.
Jungkook looked at Jimin. His beautiful brown eyes made Jimin smile. "You ready for bed? You eat all you wanted to?"
"I can't stand eating here while my tribe doesn't have the luxury to do so as well. I ate as much as I could."
"Loyalty?"
"Of course. What do they teach you here?" Jungkook huffed.
"Nothing. They're trying to erase you all."
"Oh." Jungkook looked at the fire. "...why do they hate us?"
Jimin went over and kneeled where Jin once was. He brought a finger to Jungkook's chin, lifting it up so they were eye to eye.
"They hate your power. They can't even look past your strength to see your true beauty." Jimin watched Jungkook break eye contact, his cheeks becoming slightly pink.
"Well...dragon shifters are really normal. They should normalize that."
"Racism is hard to fight." Jimin smiled. He saw that blush. "Now, let's get to bed. You'll be needing to rest a lot for that wound to heal."
"Where will I sleep?"
"I'm my bed."
"...and where will you sleep?"
"In my bed."
Jungkook laughed. "No. I'm not sleeping in the same bed as you."
"You must. I only have one bed."
"You planned this." Jungkook sighed loudly. "Okay fine. But only because I'm tired and in pain." Jungkook stood up quickly, looking away from Jimin.
"Perfect." Jimin stood as well, walking to his closet. "Just go ahead and get in. I've gotta change and turn off the lights."
Jungkook got in one side of the bed. It was an absolutely huge bed, way too big for one person. Jungkook kept to the edge of the bed, holding the blanket close to him.
He started to take everything in. He really wasn't going home tonight. Hoseok and Yoongi were probably worried sick, going to stay up all night wondering where he is, hoping he'd come home safe. He always stayed out on full moons, but when morning comes around...then they would worry.
Jungkook hoped his wish to the moon got to them.
Please. Tell them I'm okay and that I'm going to fix things.
____
Jimin woke up with Jungkook's arms around him. He saw his brown hair cover his eyes. Jimin took a good look at him, seeing the color in his hair as well. It was spectacular. The color was so vibrant, unlike Taehyung's. Taehyung was lucky his stripes of color were similar to his actual hair color.
But Jungkook's...wow. Jimin reached up slowly, carefully, and touched Jungkook's hair. It was somehow soft, but a little tangly. It was definitely nice though. And the color, wow. Jimin couldn't get over the color.
"Ah, god, get your hands off of me." Jungkook let go of him and pushed him away, rolling over and taking the blanket.
Jimin laughed a little. "But it's time to get up. No going back to sleep."
"It's early." Jungkook grumbled.
"It's time to give you...your new identity." Jimin sat up, running a hand through his hair before looking at Jungkook.
"What?"
"You heard me."
"No, I don't get it. What?" Jungkook sat up but kept his eyes closed, brows knit.
"You're going to get a new identity. So that we don't have to keep you stuck in my room. We'll finalize it, and...you're going to have to keep your mouth shut about your home. Ah, and your hair..."
"I'm not dyeing it." Jungkook growled a little. "It's natural and I'm not dyeing it." Jungkook pouted.
Jimin smiled. "How cute. We'll have to make sure you always have a scarf or something on your head. I'm sure we can figure it out."
"Wait, why am I needing a new identity?"
"You're going to have to get around this place somehow. And...well, you're going to have to get acquainted with my father."
Jungkook choked. "What?!"
"How else are you going to figure out how to get rid of him?"
"Am I?! Hold on, I didn't know about-"
"He likes new people to help him keep laws in check, see how the people like them. That's where you will come in."
"Hold on-"
"No, no "holding on." I'm dragging you into this. You're working for me now."
"Ugh, you're so annoying." Jungkook got out of the bed, stretching and wincing. "Ow."
"Ah...I'll go get Jin. He'll tell you everything you need to know. And then, we'll get your...identity set up."
____
"Your name?"
"...Jeon Jungkook."
"Your rank?"
"Commoner."
"And you're here why?"
"Jin hyung recommended me, and Prince Jimin told me I was exactly the kind of helper you're looking for." Jungkook gulped a little. He was being interviewed by the king, a scarf tightened around his head. Jimin and Jin had made it look somewhat fashionable at least.
"Ah, Jin has been going out more then, I see. What're you hoping to change? I'm sure if you've been around, there's been things I can change. I'd like to hear them." He spoke cleanly and clearly.
"It's hard to get fresh-" Jungkook cleared his throat. "It's hard to get fresh food at the outskirts."
"Ah, I see. Thank you. I'll see that a maid takes you to a room here. I do one request a day. Understood? And I've got a couple others as well, so please understand that I won't be able to get to everything immediately."
"Understood. Thank you." Jungkook bowed. "Your majesty." Jungkook quickly added. He wasn't used to this.
"Great. I'll look into it, thank you. Expect to see me again in three to four days." He waved him away, Jungkook getting taken away by a maid.
He was taken to his own room...which just so happened to be near Jimin's.
He entered Jimin's room quietly. Jimin was sitting at his desk, nose in his notebook and writing.
Jungkook walked to his balcony and went out, Jimin giving a small exclamation.
"Jungkook! You scared me."
Jungkook leaned on the edge of the balcony, looking out. "So you could see the field, huh?"
"Oh...yeah, I could."
"What am I doing Jimin?" Jungkook looked at him. "What is the plan? Just, tell him I think dragon brutality is bad?"
"Well...yeah. And we'll see where it goes." Jimin looked at him. Jungkook looked away.
"This isn't a good idea. I'm going to be found out."
"I'm hoping this won't take too long. Until he can see that the requests he's getting won't be completed unless he changes or I become king, then this is our best bet. Unless one of us is willing to murder, give me a better idea."
"Ah...I'm just not sure. How empathetic is he?"
"He pretends to be."
"How can I even trust you? He seemed nice to me."
"And if he had seen your hair he would've been even nicer. He's nicest to the people he wants to use."
"How is he to you?"
"He's rude." Jimin looked out to the field. "He's the cruelest to me."
"I don't get it. Why?"
"Oh, I'm pansexual. He hates that. And, I advocate for dragon shifters. He hates that I'm educated. He expected something different."
"Do you have another dad?"
"Oh? No. My mom died when I was young. It's just me...and that old man." Jimin smiled scornfully. "Well? What's it like for you at home?"
"Oh, it's lovely. We don't have extravagant meals, but we have each other. I go hunting with my dad, and then I help my other dad prepare the meal when we get home. We always play games at night- ah fuck, there I go again." Jungkook grumbled.
"No no...I'm on your side." Jimin carefully put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder, but Jungkook smacked it off.
"No, you kidnapped me. If it wasn't for the moon, I would've left as soon as I could've." Jungkook winced again, looking away.
"And I'm sorry for that. I know family means a lot to you...but...what I'm doing is for all of you. I'll become king, and then bam! You're free to go, and you're free."
"You really think people will just accept us?"
"They better. Otherwise, they'll have another thing coming." Jimin punched the air, laughing a little.
Jungkook smiled a little. "You mean it?"
"I promise." Jimin smiled at him, resting his hand on his shoulder again.
Jungkook didn't shrug him off. "I've never been in the kingdom before. Dads always said...it would be too dangerous."
"There's a high price for your hide. They're right at the moment. But I'm really trying to change that." Jimin slid his hand from his shoulder to his hand.
This time, Jungkook removed his hand. "Look...just cause I'm helping you doesn't mean I'm also going to be with you. I'm not into high and mighty princes. Besides, there's someone at home." Jungkook smiled a little. "She's really nice."
Jimin glared at Jungkook. "A girl?"
"Yeah. She's in our neighboring tribe. We share a house. God- there I go again." Jungkook cursed himself. "Sorry."
"No no, keep talking about this girl." Jimin crossed his arms.
"...well, if you insist." Jungkook shrugged, looking at the field. "She's really nice. We used to play as children in the river, she's an ice based, so we'd have fun there. Her nice long black hair is soft, and she's always making me laugh. We've already said we'd get married when we're ready." Jungkook laughed.
Jimin was almost fuming. "You what?" His speech was cold and sharp. Jungkook looked over at him, a small smirk on his face.
"And we've promised to have children too. So many children." Jungkook scoffed. "Come on. Really?"
Jimin glared. "What?"
"You believed all that? I'm- you believed I was straight?" Jungkook laughed in disbelief. "Really?"
"So you're a liar!"
Jungkook laughed more. "You thought I was straight! That's such an insult!"
"Jungkook! I want to be with you! Don't mess with my feelings like that." Jimin yelled angrily.
Jungkook walked right up to him, looking down at him. "I'm not interested."
Jimin grabbed his collar and pulled him down, eye to eye. "Oh you better be more than interested." Jimin dragged his eyes across Jungkook, watching him become a little embarrassed and shy.
"H-h-hey hold up-"
"No." Jimin tugged him closer, Jungkook blushing more.
"Ah! No! Nope." Jungkook pushed him away, turning his head. "Nope, none of that."
"You're mine Jungkook."
"I'm nobodies." Jungkook glared, crossing his arms.
Jimin crossed his too, glaring right back at him. He felt electricity go through them.
A knock on the door made the two break eye contact.
Namjoon came in with a nervous smile. "M-my apologies, but...the king...wishes to see...you two..."
"Together?"
Namjoon nodded.
"Okay. Jungkook, don't worry your pretty little head, I'll make sure you get out of this alive." Jimin smiled to reassure him, but once he turned to Namjoon he became more serious. Namjoon didn't look happy. "What did Jin say?"
"Jin said that...the king wants to...propose something."
"Such as? What am I getting myself into?" Jimin fixed his cuff links.
Jungkook seemed to just really realize how nice his hair looks all up and gelled. Fuck, no, none of those thoughts.
"I'm not sure, Jin didn't say."
"Mm. Don't like that. Let's go Jungkookie~" Jimin sang almost, walking out with Namjoon, and a following Jungkook.
"Jin said that it wasn't going to be good. I- I wish I could've gotten more out of him but you know how it is-"
"Namjoon. It's okay." Jimin spoke kindly. "I'll handle it, I always do."
Namjoon almost whispered. "You...can't lose another fight against him. He'll do something terrible."
"I'll handle it." Jimin reassured, turning a corner and seeing his father.
"Oh! Son, I was just on my way. Namjoon, thank you for retrieving them, but I didn't tell you to do that, did I?" He hummed, Namjoon composing himself in an instant.
"No, but I thought I would do it anyways your majesty. Less movement for you."
"Am I getting too old, Namjoonie-ah?" He laughed, but the others stayed silent. "Let's go." He turned his attention to Jimin, coldly speaking and walking away.
He led them to an office like room, Jin at his own desk.
"Jin, leave."
"S-sir?"
"Leave." The king almost glared at Jimin.
"Yes sir." Jin gave Jimin a warning look before leaving.
"Sit, please." He gestured to the chairs as he sat in his chair.
Jungkook and Jimin sat.
"So...Jimin. Jin said you helped choose him. Why?"
"Is there a problem?" Jimin raised an eyebrow.
"Yes. I want him. An outskirt commoner caught Jin's attention? He must be intelligent, or helpful. I want him. I'm here to...bargain."
"What?" Jimin glared, his voice deep.
"You heard me. What do you want for him? I understand he went through you, so you must want him too. A bargain or nothing Jimin."
"Are you kidding me?!" Jimin stood and slammed his hands on the table. "Don't lay a finger on him!" Jimin yelled, completely losing his cool.
Jungkook was in shock. What the fuck...
"Keep your head Jimin. What's wrong? What is keeping you so attached to him? And why does he have one of your scarves?"
"He's mine. Claimed. You don't get to have him."
"I'm thinking of having another person like Jin around. Jin is smart, talented, but he doesn't have new knowledge. But I can see this boy does. We don't get many from the outskirts. After thinking clearly, I realized I should use him best as I can. What do you say Jungkook?"
"No. Father, I'm sorry, but this is crossing a line."
"What line might that be?" He smiled. Jungkook didn't like it.
Jimin was at a loss of words. What...could he possibly say? If he had to describe anything, it wouldn't go well. He never went to the outskirts, he wouldn't be able to say he knew him. "I...I already took him in. My group likes him, I wanted to keep him in it."
"Sorry, but that's not good enough. What's his use?"
"Hey, I'm not an object." Jungkook narrowed his eyes. "I'm not either of yours."
"Jungkook, who would you rather work for? Someone who has a plan for you, and can pay you, or someone who simply likes your body?"
Jimin angrily glared at the king. "I do not like him for his body."
"Jungkook, it's your choice."
"I have no need for money, and I don't need a relationship. Is there...middle ground perhaps?" Jungkook have a small smile in hopes to find something else.
The two glared at him.
"I guess not." Jungkook looked down.
"No use for money? Boy, everyone needs money."
"Oh, no I don't." Jungkook cleared his throat. "M-my dads work. I'm just a helper. You know, strong man." Jungkook laughed nervously. Jimin gave him a wide eyed glare.
Jungkook was still bad at what people were like here.
"Dads?" The king looked annoyed.
"Oh yeah. My dads adopted me."
"Tch. No wonder Jimin likes you. Fine. It's decided. He's mine." The king looked Jimin dead in the eye. "He's a strong man? He'll be tasked with strong man jobs."
"What?!" Jimin yelled, slamming his hands on the table again. "You can't be serious!"
The king laughed. "Look at you, not getting what you want. Don't get attached to people Jimin. I warned you of that last time."
Jimin shook his head. "And last time you said I would never be king, but I'm thinking that's going to happen sooner than you think." Jimin left, slamming the door behind him.
Jungkook kept his gaze down. He didn't know what to do. This wasn't part of the deal. How the hell would Jimin fix this? Why was he depending on Jimin?
Jin came back into the room, taking his seat at his desk.
"Well, Jungkook, now we can get you working. First of all, you don't need to wear that scarf on your head."
"I want to."
"Alright, then keep it. Second of all, I'll be needing to know more about what the outskirts are like."
"They're kind. And accepting. Of everyone. And I mean everyone."
"Oh? Why is that important?"
"I mean dragon shifters." Jungkook heard Jin cough and clear his throat. "And I think you should change your law."
The king gave a curious glance. "We haven't seen very many dragons in the past year. Many people have forgotten that law."
"Then why would it be a problem to change it?"
"Dragons are dangerous and powerful. Why should they have a law that gives them their full power?"
"They're just people." Jungkook looked up at him.
"You've met some then? Where?"
Jungkook shook his head. "My dads have books that I've read over and over. Some real, dragon shifter made books about their history. I know more than you ever will. So please...understand where I'm coming from."
The king smiled. "Oh I think I do. But you should know that...I don't care. As long as we can hunt them, we will. They're absolutely beautiful on a wall. Or a rug. Jewelry sells for a lot too. Why would I pass that up?"
Jungkook looked away horrified. "It's wrong."
"It's money." He shrugged. "You're free to go until I find something for you to do."
Jungkook stood and left, finally realizing what Jimin was saying about him.
Jin kept all of this in mind.
"Jin...he's peculiar, isn't he?"
"Yes, your highness."
"Get that scarf off of his head as soon as you can. I want to see what he's hiding."
"It's his religion. His original scarf was damaged on his way here, so Jimin gave him one of his own when he interviewed him."
"Oh, I see. Then, I might like to have chat with Namjoon. He's our, main expert on dragons, yes?"
"...yes your majesty."
____
Jungkook cried on Jimin's balcony, Jimin comforting him. He'd taken the scarf off, knees tucked close to him. Jimin rubbed his back carefully, sitting next to him.
"I...I didn't know..."
"It's okay. I told you he was mean. But I can't imagine living through it. It hurts me enough already, and I'm sorry I can't...make it feel better."
"I can't even kill him. That would be against my morals."
"It's okay. I've got a new idea, but it's going to require a lot of us meeting outside the kingdom."
"At this point, I'll do anything."
"Okay. But...I'll have to travel into the cities a lot. Make connections to the people, make them see that he needs to resign. If enough people sign a petition basically, he has to resign. I...I wanted you to come with me. But...I'll have to take Taehyung." Jimin sounded a little heartbroken, Jungkook looking up at him.
"I'll be okay."
"I'm scared to leave you now. He's smart. If he finds out you're...you know...I don't know if Namjoon and Seokjin can help you get out. They can help from afar, but not so much directly. I won't be able to help." Jimin tapped his foot on the ground, thinking.
"I'll be okay. I'm strong."
"Stronger than chains?"
"I'll figure something out if that happens."
"He...I don't know Jungkook. I'll have to think about this more."
"No, we don't have time. I'll be 20 soon, actually. And- and that's a big year, for uh, for me, so we need to get this done in three months."
"On- on the full moon perhaps?"
"Yeah. The 1st of September."
"That's such a nice date. Sorry, just, the first of a month? That's nice." Jimin watched Jungkook laugh a little.
"Thanks I guess? I think you should do your plan. If...what you're saying is true, that if enough people can make him resign, then it needs to happen."
"And you're willing...to be here?"
"Yeah. I'm willing to stay. I can't really leave anyways." Jungkook looked up finally, but only at the sky. Jimin wished he would look at him the same way.
"Is the moon telling you stuff?"
"Yeah. She's...very talkative for someone who isn't in the sky yet." Jungkook laughed a little and looked over at Jimin this time.
Jimin felt his heart quicken. Jungkook's eyes were smiling. And by god was he beautiful. "How can I ever leave you? I'll sneak you out with me. We'll travel the kingdom together with Taehyung."
"What? Wait...I don't want to be in trouble?"
"It'll have to do. I'm not leaving you here."
"W- I'm confused."
"Jungkook, I can't leave you. You have a pull to the moon, I have a pull to you. I just can't explain it."
Jungkook's eyes widened. "I-oh."
"I know you don't reciprocate, but that's okay! We'll work on that." Jimin laughed. Jungkook's eyes told a story on their own. There was definitely something he was missing. Maybe he would ask Taehyung.
"W-work on it huh?" Jungkook looked away.
"Well, I'm not letting you go. So yes. Also, we're going to have to leave tonight. I'll think of something to make it seem less suspicious."
"You'll think of something I'm sure. Just don't lose your cool."
"If he's going to try and take you away then he's going to have to think again." Jimin huffed angrily.
"You're funny." Jungkook smiled. "Let me see what she has to say about it." Jungkook looked up at the sky, smiling a little more before clearing his throat.
Jimin noticed the small blush on his cheeks. "What did she say?"
"Um, she said it's a good idea for me to stay with you."
"Was there something else she said?" Jimin smiled.
"Well, maybe." Jungkook smiled, but wiped it off his face.
"Care to tell me?"
"Nope."
"Aw, why not?"
"Well, I don't want to."
"Not fair!"
"Oh it's fair alright. She's telling me some things that might add onto your ego."
Jimin laughed. "You sure it's not just a voice in your head?"
"Ha ha. Very funny. You're not my type." Jungkook rolled his eyes.
Jimin wanted to see those eyes. He must've done that on purpose. "Oh sure I'm not." Jimin moved closer, Jungkook moving away. Jimin crawled towards him, Jungkook continuing to move backwards. He hit the back of the rail, noticing they were now out of sight of Jimin's door.
"H-hold up-"
"No no, if I'm not your type, then that's fine." Jimin climbed on top of him straddling him. "Right?"
"I-Jimin-" Jungkook swallowed his saliva, turning red. "You don't- you-"
"Shh." Jimin put his finger to Jungkook's lips. "You don't have to explain anything right now. There's more, I can tell. But I don't want you to try and push me away, because that makes me want to fuck you into tomorrow to make you realize your attraction to me."
Jungkook blushed. "Ji-" he choked. "Jimin- that's- that's-" Jungkook swallowed his spit.
"Continue." Jimin raised Jungkook's chin up with his finger, Jungkook making eye contact with him.
"That's very forward."
"Is that a problem?" Jimin looked him up and down. "You're pretty. Your eyes, your smile, your eye crinkles. Your eyes literally smile. I can't even compare them to anything; they're too beautiful to compare." Jimin leaned closer, eyes on Jungkook's lips.
Jungkook felt his stomach become a million butterflies. He...wouldn't mind if this cute boy kissed him. Hell, he didn't want to die without having his first kiss. He could die a virgin, that's fine, but...a kiss...from a prince...and Park Jimin at that...well...
Jungkook started to close his eyes, letting Jimin lean in and-
A knock on their door interrupted them.
"Oh for fucks sake. Give me a minute sweetheart." Jimin gave his nose a boop and got up, throwing Jungkook the scarf and closed the balcony doors before going to his door.
Jungkook listened in.
"Father. What are you doing here?"
"Have you seen Namjoon?"
"Why do you want him?"
"He's our little dragon expert, no?"
"He is. Why do you want him?"
"Don't be idiotic Jimin. That boy you interviewed is suspicious. I need to ask Namjoon some questions. Because I'm not buying it. The way he held himself was nothing that attracts Jin's usual attention. He must be special. Where is the boy anyways?"
"Don't know. Why would I know?"
"They tend to be in your area of the castle. Namjoon's over here too. Adds up. Don't play me as stupid boy."
"Give it a rest old man." Jimin sounded a little pissed. "Oh, and I'm leaving tonight with a small crew. You've been telling me to get a hold of myself lately, and I think I will. I want to visit the kingdom. I've been out of touch for too long, too cooped up studying and overworking."
"Jimin, that sounds lovely. Keep studying when you're out. Oh, and one more thing. Don't expect a parade when you come back." The door slammed.
Jimin came back to Jungkook. "Well...that ruined the mood."
"It's okay. A-at least leaving tonight will be okay."
"I'll have to talk to Jin and Namjoon first. They'll have to keep us updated somehow so...probably send you and Taehyung back and forth in the nights. Make sure he's not passing any laws without me here. He's supposed to go through them with me."
"Sound good to me."
"Good. I'll prepare Taehyung. You can...I dunno, hang out here. Stay safe." Jimin gave a small concerned look.
He'd be fine.
____
Jungkook got on a horse with Taehyung, Jimin too touchy with him. Jimin whined about it, but Taehyung was on his side at least. Jungkook sat in front of him, Taehyung's arms around him, holding the reigns.
They went off, their first destination a little bit aways, just so that the king wouldn't be able to get to them so quickly once he found out Jimin had taken Jungkook.
They rode in silence, except for Taehyung talking in Jungkook's ear quietly.
"When will you tell him? We all know the tale."
Jungkook shook his head.
"He's gotta know Jungkook. That's...you're my king."
"You don't know me."
"It's within you. How old are you?"
"19..." Jungkook spoke quietly, Jimin ahead of them.
"Oh. So soon."
"Three months."
"Ohhhhh. So soon soon."
"Yeah. I don't know what will happen."
"Well, if you'd let me explain it to Jimin, then we can get through it together."
"I want to go home afterwards. Not be...part of a prophecy." Jungkook felt his back sting.
"Look. The moons been talkative lately. She's telling me you're the one. She's saying you're the one. And she's never led me wrong. You're my king, and when you're 20, you'll be announced king if you like it or not."
"I...I can't even heal properly yet, the lightning strikes are hurting more. When it's time...I don't think I'll be able to handle it."
"We'll get you there. Jimin is the expert. Jin knows most about medicine, but...Jimin knows the most about dragons. He's read the most books, done the most research, and has encountered the most. It's not a bad idea to talk to him."
"Taehyung...I'm not here to be with him. I'm here to fix some shit and then go home." Jungkook continued to feel the sting in his back.
"Jungkook, that's sadly not your choice. Have you ever been able to deny the moon? If you don't do it yourself, she'll do it for you."
"My dads...they told me the tale only recently."
"I'd like to meet them."
"They'd love you all. Maybe not Jimin though, they've never been too fond of the idea of me dating."
"So you're thinking of dating him."
"Look...it's all weird, okay? It's like I'm being forced to like him but I don't know if I actually do. The moon keeps telling me that I have to be with him to make it all come true, but I don't know how any of it is related."
"It's bound to happen. Let me tell you the tale I was told when we rest."
"No. Jimin doesn't need to know...I'm just a water dragon okay? I live in the rain. I was unlucky and got struck by lightning because of the amount of metal I wear. That all adds up. Hurts like a bitch."
"Jin gave you his stuff right?"
"Yeah. Hopefully it doesn't rain in the next few weeks."
"It always rains on full moons."
"Yeah. Don't I know it." Jungkook rolled his eyes. "It's painful Taehyung. I don't think..."
"Please let me tell him. He needs to know."
"That I lied to you? To him? To Namjoon and Jin? No thanks."
"He needs to know."
"I don't want to give him false hope. Come on, me? I don't know what I'm doing. I didn't know what I was doing when I was 16 and I don't know what I'm doing now. And becoming king of all dragons...I don't know what I'm doing, how can I be any help?"
"You boys having fun back there?" Jimin called back to them. "We're coming up on our destination. This city will be first."
"Awesome Jimin!" Taehyung called out to him. "I'm telling him tomorrow unless you tell him tonight. Understood?"
"Yes..."
"Thank you my king."
"Don't fucking...say that..."
____
Jungkook licked his lips and pursed them. He was anxious as the three of them got ready to sleep in the same room. A small hotel was keeping them for the week.
"What is it? Spit it out." Jimin waved his hand at Jungkook, who was standing anxiously with his small bag in his hands.
"J-Jimin..."
"What is it? Need to share a bed?" Jimin raised an eyebrow.
"That...that would be nice, but that wasn't what I wanted to say." Jungkook fidgeted.
"Say it." Taehyung sat on his bed, prodding him on.
"What am I missing?" Jimin looked between the two.
"I- I can't do it Taehyung." Jungkook looked away, playing with his hands with anxiety.
"God, you- just let me explain it then. Jimin, Jungkook is a lightning based dragon, and I mean the lightning based dragon you've read about in the ancient stories."
"What?" Jimin widened his eyes in surprise before glaring at Jungkook. "What?"
"He's the king."
"He's- he's a stinking liar!" Jimin glared at Jungkook with wide eyes, Jungkook looking away.
He put a hand on the back of his neck. "I'm sorry. But you had just kidnapped me and I didn't think I was safe."
"So that spot on your back is actually..."
"That's what you're concerned about?"
"Look, we did kidnap you. It makes sense why you were protecting yourself. But...Jungkook...you could've told me..."
"I wanted to. I'm just...I couldn't."
"Mm. Taehyung...is the tale true?"
"As far as I'm concerned, yes. As long as the moon is still telling us it's true."
"W-well, how about we compare stories?"
"Sure. You want to start or us to start?" Taehyung seemed much nicer now. He just hated when things weren't cleared up.
Jungkook sat on the edge of Jimin's bed.
"You should."
"Alright. From my memory, it goes something like this. A long time ago, the dragon shifters lived all together, with one leader, the strongest of them all. The lightning leader took care of the tribe, able to know and control the weather. That was the best gift anyone could ask for. They would know the best days to harvest, to hunt and fish, to find certain berries or bugs. It gave them all they needed." Taehyung looked at Jimin.
"They split up though, when our idiotic people came to hunt them, seeing the shifters as nothing more than enemies. They couldn't live in harmony like the dragons wanted to, instead killing them and making them scatter. As a final attempt to help his people, the lightning dragon called on the rain, the worst storm they'd ever seen, and flooded the town where the hunters came from. He promised he would come back and call upon the dragons when it was safe." Jimin finished it off.
"Ah, yes. But you see...he promised safety, and community to them as well. Lightning dragons are known as kings. In our books, they're painted with crowns and gold jewelry. And that previous lightning dragon...said that to create balance, that the next king would have to..." Jungkook faltered.
"They'd have to be with another king, right?" Taehyung finished their little story telling.
"Right. I'd have to marry into royalty. Cause...a king can't be without another queen or king."
"I see." Jimin spoke quietly. "So it's...it's a must."
"Is it fate? Is it real? Only time will tell." Taehyung spoke dramatically, waving a hand like a rainbow. "The moon is always right. Feelings will grow, and time will tell. Now can we please sleep?"
"Sure thing Tae. Goodnight, thank you."
"No problem. Sleep tight you two." He rolled over, Jimin throwing a pillow at him. "Thanks." He took it to cuddle with.
"Was that my pillow?" Jungkook asked with a pout.
"You get me sweetheart."
"Ah, that'll have to do."
"Do you want to share a bed or not?" Jimin spoke quickly.
"Yes! Yes I do, sheesh." Jungkook crawled into bed, staying on the edge.
"Come here, come on." Jimin rolled his eyes and turned his back to Jungkook. Jungkook blushed, but spooned him. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
____
"He what?!" The king yelled, Namjoon jumping a little. Jin was still nowhere to be found.
"Y-your majesty. Your son took Jungkook."
"Send troops to find him! I want that son of a bitch in my hands so I can kill him myself. No dragon shifter gets to get away with being right under my nose." He fumed. "What's the status on Jin?"
"Nothing."
"Damn it all! What is my son doing?!"
Namjoon stayed silent.
"Let's work on those new laws in the meantime."
"All laws must be passed by all royals." Namjoon stated.
"All royals are present."
"You can't disown your own son. There are rules for a reason. No tyranny."
"Let me take a good read through the rule book then, like it seems you have. We'll find a way around it."
Namjoon took a big breath. Jimin always gave him the short end of the stick.
____
Taehyung updated them on what Namjoon had said, their first week going well. They were well into the second week, Jimin having gotten a lot more support than he initially thought he would get.
And Jungkook seemed to be more willing to talk and be comfortable with them, which Jimin absolutely loved. They slept in the same bed every night, maybe that was how Jungkook was used to sleeping at his home, but Jimin didn't mind it at all. It was nice to have his warmth and protection. Once, Taehyung tried to wake the two of them up and Jungkook simply glared at him before hugging Jimin tighter.
"Next city starting tomorrow." Jimin wrote some things down as they got their stuff organized to leave the next day. "Taehyung, how far have they gotten with the law?"
"Not far. Namjoon knows the law book like the back of his hand. He knows it all word for word, and he's continuing to stop the king for as long as he can."
"Good. That'll give us maybe another week though."
"How many names do we need? Seems like we've got a lot already."
"We need more. It needs to be overwhelming." Jimin looked in the booklet he was using for their names. They'd filled multiple pages, but it still wasn't the whole thing. "We can't go home until it's overwhelming."
"Well, I'm not sure how many more times I can go out without being recognized. He put up wanted posters of me everywhere." Jungkook sighed heavily. "Taehyung, you're lucky your hair color is nice."
"It's boring is what it is." Taehyung played with his hair. "Same dull brown."
"It's hide-able."
"It's boring."
"Aish, whatever." Jungkook laughed a little. "You're at least lucky."
"Oh yeah, I'm blessed to be with Jimin and not the king. For that, I'm lucky."
"I am a blessing okay?" Jimin raised an eyebrow, finishing up his writing.
"You work too much Jimin." Jungkook whined. He was already in bed, waiting for Jimin to get in too. Taehyung was reading a book, and Jimin was finishing up whatever he was doing.
"I work just enough. Besides, Jin's going to want an explanation."
"Oh? You've been in touch with him?" Taehyung put his book down.
"Yeah. He's on a little...mission I gave him."
"Care to explain?"
"No. It's a last resort."
"Fine."
Jimin finally put his pen down. "You're both right. It's late." Jimin took his place next to Jungkook. "We can try a hat tomorrow for you."
Jungkook cuddled up on him. "Sure. Doesn't matter to me."
"Good. Sleep well you two."
____
That night Jungkook had a strange dream.
He was sitting in his field, but...it was like the moon was there with him. An aura of all colors in front of him, and yet...it was comforting.
You must make him king. Only then will it all end.
"I-I know. We're working on it."
You must become his king as well. Together...only together will it work.
"I know. But, I won't become king for a couple more months."
And will you be ready? He must become king with you. You will call all dragons to you, when you become king.
"I...I know."
I know you can do it Jungkook. He is the answer. He will be your answer.
"What does that mean?"
You will find out in soon time.
"Hey, come on, I need better guidance."
It's for you to decide.
"No, wait, I don't know-"
Jungkook woke up, his heart racing. He'd never really, met her before. He slowly let go of Jimin, getting out of the bed and taking a key to their room and leaving. He walked outside, staying on the hotel grounds, until he found a nice place to sit.
What did she mean? What could she mean? Jimin is the answer. Jimin is the answer to what? Jimin...Jimin is a prince. Oh. If Jimin were to...oh. Jungkook needed to-
"Hey, you alright?" Jimin stood behind him, hugging a sweater close to himself.
"Oh! God, you startled me. Yeah, I'm fine. Just needed some air."
Jimin put a hat on his head. "You should be careful."
"Ah, it's the middle of the night. Who's up anyways? What're you doing up?"
"Felt you leave and I couldn't fall back asleep."
"Oh, are you dependent on my heat now?" Jungkook smiled cheekily as Jimin sat next to him.
"Maybe." Jimin looked at him with a comforting smile. "I've gotten used to it."
"Yeah. Thank you again." Jungkook looked down. Don't let Jimin's pretty face get the better of you Jungkook. "For letting me sleep with you. I'm not used to being alone. Sometimes we'd sleep in packs at home after one of us would have a rough day. But...seems like every day is rough here."
"It's okay. It's nice. It's protective behavior, I feel like a fancy jewel you can't seem to give away." Jimin laughed a little.
Jungkook could tell Jimin was looking at him.
Don't look at him. Your goal is finish this, and go home. It isn't to get Jimin. The goal...is to finish this and go home.
"I know it's hard for you to be away from home. I hope you can find a little bit of home with me."
Jungkook felt Jimin take one of his hands and press something into it.
"Oh?" Jungkook opened his hand, and in his palm was a jeweled earring. "Oh. You...still have this?"
"I've kept it ever since. I know I keep telling you, but it's you. I've...it's just you."
Jungkook played with the earring in his hand. "Why? Why is it me?"
Jimin smiled. "Well, at first it was because I wanted to protect you. And then it was because you wanted to protect me. And now, it's because I know you're the only person I've ever been interested in like this."
Jungkook finally looked at Jimin. He put the earring in Jimin's hand. "Keep it. You don't know what it means to give a jewel to someone else."
"What does it mean?"
"It's some of our greatest treasures. Giving it is almost like a proposal."
"So, you're saying you proposed to me a year ago?" Jimin smiled wider.
"It...was more of a goodbye present." Jungkook looked down, unable to look Jimin in the eye anymore. "And I want to keep it as a goodbye present."
"W...what do you mean Jungkook?" Jimin's smile died.
"I want to go home after you become king. That's my plan. And that's...that's still my plan." Jungkook felt a shock go through his spine. "Ah! Ah- ah, ow, oh god." Jungkook curled into himself, his back continuing to burn. His wound must not be doing well. Or, it was a sign from the moon. Either way, it was painful as fuck.
"Let me run in and get your ointment real quick." Jimin stood and ran, Jungkook shaking while hugging himself.
Jungkook grit his teeth, trying to keep the pain tolerable.
Wrong answer king.
Shit. Shit. Jungkook felt himself hold back tears. His lightning spot was becoming unbearable, burning hotter than it ever had.
"Shirt off Kook!" Jungkook could hear Jimin from behind him, Jungkook barely getting the buttons undone. Jimin slipped it off of him and applied it, Jungkook feeling it cool down before stinging in a healing way.
"F...fuck." He breathed shakily, wanting to cry. His back had never hurt so much in his life.
"Are you okay?"
"N-not really. It's- it's bad."
Jimin looked out to the road. "I hope we have enough time."
____
"Where...is all of Jin's research?"
"Your highness, I don't know. You've kept me with you for the past two weeks. And you never let me check on him either."
The king and Namjoon looked in Jin's room for any sign. But no note, nothing left behind. Jin was gone.
____
Jimin woke up with Jungkook's hands up his shirt, one on his chest, the other on his stomach. Jimin didn't know how to get out of this one. Usually he could sit up and read or write for a little before he would wake them both up. He'd taken the two people who hated waking up.
When he tried to sit up, he felt Jungkook's hands tighten. "Don't." His voice was quiet and rough. The previous night hadn't been much fun; Jimin had had to help Jungkook back into their room and into bed, and then he leeched onto him, making it hard for Jimin to sleep.
"Jungkook..." Jimin felt bad. If Jungkook was doing this every morning but not actually wanting to be with him... "You're being an asshole."
"Hm?" Jungkook sounded honestly confused. "What?"
"You heard me. Let go."
Jungkook let go of him. Jimin sat up and got his notebook. "What's wrong?"
"Oh. You want me to tell you what's wrong?"
"Yeah? I thought you were fine with sleeping with me?"
"You know, maybe tonight you won't get to. You can't tell me that you don't want me and then get to sleep in the same bed as me. Sleep with Taehyung."
"Oh, it's about that. Look...I just need to think some things through."
"It seems you've already made a decision."
"And I was punished for it." Jungkook spoke quietly, Jimin unable to hear him.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Fine."
____
"We use moon flower sap and aloe, mixing them together and letting it sit in the moonlight for a couple day's to a week."
"Ah! How interesting." Jin adjusted his glasses, inspecting the moon flower. "It only blooms at night, doesn't it?"
"It does. It's meant for us, you know?"
"Oh of course! Let's get to work. Jungkook will need this by next month I believe." Jin smiled at Hoseok and Yoongi.
"Yes. If he doesn't fix everything by his 20th birthday...it might be the end of the dragon race." Hoseok spoke lowly.
____
Jungkook anxiously awaited the full moon that night. They'd been out for a month, collecting signatures and whatnot, but Jimin had been increasingly cold to him. They'd made it to the outskirts of the kingdom, so Jungkook snuck out to the outside of the kingdom walls, watching for soldiers before shifting and getting into the air as quickly as possible.
He hid behind the clouds, hearing and feeling the rain start up. Clouds surrounded him, the storm extreme this time. He didn't have much time left. And that wound on his back wasn't healing.
And it definitely wasn't healing tonight either.
"Oh god Jungkook, it just keeps getting worse." Jimin fret when he came back soaking wet, clothes gone. Taehyung hurriedly got towels and blankets, then clothes, to keep him warm. Jimin put more of the medicine on his back.
"Y-yeah." Jungkook spoke shakily. "I know. I don't- don't know if I can do it next month." Jungkook cried, Jimin and Taehyung comforting him.
"You'll be able to. You're the strongest one." Taehyung spoke softly.
"Yeah. You're strong Jungkook. So so strong."
"I'm not strong enough. I'm nowhere close enough."
"No. You are." Jimin raised Jungkook's head, making them have eye contact. "You're so very strong and you'll be able to do it. I know you will."
Jungkook looked at him with wide, teary eyes. "You think so?"
"I know so."
"Nnngh." Jungkook tried not to cry louder, holding it back. He looked away from Jimin's eyes. They were too kind. Taehyung was also too kind. They had too much trust in him, even though they both knew he wanted to leave.
The moon had been silent for a month, not even talking tonight.
____
"So combined...this should help immensely. It'll keep a wound cool, moisturized and heal twice as fast." Jin looked at their samples. "Anyone here have a burn we can try it on?"
"Hopefully not." Yoongi grumbled. "Unless Hoseok burned himself cooking again."
Jin laughed. "I would hope not. Then...we'll have to hope for the best."
"Give it another night at least. One more night in the moon, if not two."
"It'll take me a while to travel back though. I might not make it in time if I don't leave soon."
"I know. But...it's going to be his biggest pain yet. It'll go through him, and right out into the sky, over and over, as a beacon. It'll be...be a lot."
"I know. But...damn it, you're right." Jin stared at their samples in the moonlight. "I don't want to run out of time. They're into the second month now...which means only a month left to find them and heal him up. Which, only may or may not work." Jin looked at the paper Jimin had written of their scheduled arrivals and cities.
"It'll be alright. Fate will have its way."
"Aish, don't give me wisdom Yoongi."
Yoongi laughed. "It's the best I can give."
____
Jimin kept Jungkook with him as they traveled. Jungkook's wound had only gotten worse. He was being left in their hotels while he and Taehyung would go out, sleeping and resting day and night.
Jimin fret as Jungkook slept on the horse, hoping it would heal faster, and that Jungkook could be snarky and snappy with him again, so that Jungkook could laugh and smile and show his beautiful sparkling eyes.
Instead, he was quiet and his eyes were dull. The pain was getting to him.
They finally arrived at their small inn, the two carrying Jungkook to a bed. He moved but didn't wake up.
"He hasn't eaten today." Jimin shook his head. "How can we help him?"
"I don't know...this isn't really in the handbook." Taehyung worriedly looked at Jimin. With Jungkook unwell...Jimin wasn't doing well either. Taehyung knew they were linked...but it seemed that Jungkook just wasn't taking it.
"Well what is in the handbook?" Jimin unpacked their small amount of stuff left.
"Well, how to protect and serve you."
"And the shifters handbook?"
"How to...protect and serve..." Taehyung looked to the side with a small smile.
"Aish, no help. I'm going to get some food. Hopefully he'll wake up."
____
Jungkook sat up in a cold sweat. He was alone in bed, Taehyung sleeping with Jimin. He shook his head and got up, not really remembering much. His dreams were getting worse and worse, showing him what would happen if Jimin didn't become king by the next full moon. But with their schedule, they'd maybe get back by the full moon, not enough time for Jimin to become king.
He knew what he had to do. But he didn't want to. Instead, he saw his plate of food and took it, going outside of their inn to sit on the stairs, leaning against the railing.
He ate slowly, his movements still a bit of a pain. With the daily usage of pain meds and healing ointment, they were running low on stuff now.
"Hey...you can't go running off now, can you?" Jimin took a seat next to Jungkook.
"Ah...sorry if I woke you. I was trying to be quiet." Jungkook cleared his throat.
"Save your voice if need to. You know I can talk all night."
Jungkook laughed a little. "I'm okay."
"You're not."
"Ah, I know, but...it'll be okay. Probably." Jungkook finished the food he could eat.
"Please eat it all. It wasn't much to begin with."
"No, I'm full. I'm not hungry." Jungkook glanced around Jimin before looking away.
"Jungkook...tell me what's wrong. Are you hurting too much? Need to shift? We've got a couple of weeks before..." Jimin stopped talking when Jungkook looked at him.
"Before I kill my entire species. Before I bring every single dragon to your hunters. A couple weeks before I'm dead." Jungkook shook his head. "All because I...want to go home."
"What do you mean?"
"Jimin...I have a solution to our problem. But, it forces me to do something that I don't think I'm ready for." Jungkook tried to keep eye contact.
"...I'm confused..." Jimin spoke quietly. He watched Jungkook struggle to take his other earring out and give it to Jimin.
"T-there." Jungkook winced slightly. Raising his arms was a bit of a pain.
Jimin held the earring in his palm. "I don't get it...I thought you said it was a proposal. But that you wanted it to be a goodbye."
"Exactly. A proposal. Jimin, you understand, no?"
"What-" Jimin looked up at him. "But if you don't want to- I won't accept if you don't want to."
"Jimin, it's for my family. It's for Taehyung. It's for dragon shifters I don't know. And it's for you..." Jungkook watched Jimin close his eyes with a smile and shake his head.
He opened them and pressed the earring back into Jungkook's palm, holding it there with his own hands. "But it's not for you. I won't do that to you."
"But Jimin! This is the quickest way- no, the only way for you to become king. Otherwise- I won't be around to see it." Jungkook looked away, unable to see Jimin's kindness. "Accept the proposal. Keep the earrings. Wear them. That's the way we get married. My dads traded rings they've had since they were young, I have earrings."
"Jungkook..."
"Jimin. Do you want to save this mess or not?!" Jungkook looked up at him with tears.
Jimin bit his lip, trying to keep calm. "I do Jungkook. But I want you to love me. I'd love to accept your proposal...but...you've gotta have feelings for me at least."
"And you think I don't? You think there's not one part of me that has feelings for you?"
"You've never said otherwise." Jimin smiled a little sadly. "And I won't force you to have feelings. I know I was forceful at first, but I must've broken your trust. The most I can do now is support your decisions."
"I'm...I'm asking you to marry me!" Jungkook exclaimed.
"For the sake of your people. Jungkook, if it comes to that, I'll accept. But until you can want to marry me, actually want to marry me...I won't accept."
"Jimin! It's my life on the line!" Jungkook had concern laced in his words, eyes wide with fear. "I don't get it. I don't get you at all."
"Jungkook, it'll be okay-" Jimin patted Jungkook's hands.
"No! No it's not! I've got three weeks to heal and not die and call every single dragon in the world to me as a symbol of peace but it's going to kill them! To get a law passed you have to be king. If you marry me, you'll be a king! It's my life, and so many others I don't know, all going to die because of me."
"Jungkook! You're going to be okay. And we'll figure it out. By then, this book will be finished with signatures and he'll have to resign."
"Jimin, you can't make a law the same night you become king. By the time we get back it will be the full moon and I'll...I'll..."
"Jungkook. Look at me." Jimin moved one of his hands to lift Jungkook's chin up. "See me? I'm not going anywhere. Take a deep breath, but don't hurt your back, and let it out. See? It's just me. You're going to be okay."
Jungkook took a medium breath, not wanting to hurt himself more. "Why won't you accept?" Jungkook's eyes started to tear up again.
"Ah ah ah, don't cry." Jimin smiled. "I want you to love me. And I think that's too much to ask of you. Of course you've had a lot on your mind. It's a big deal. Just know that I'm here, okay?" Jimin kissed Jungkook on the forehead. "When you're actually ready. I'll be right here."
Jungkook blushed. "Jimin..."
"Finish your food, and then I'll help you back in bed."
"Sleep with me?"
"You're in too much discomfort for me to sleep with you."
"Please." Jungkook closed his eyes. "At least accept that."
Jimin watched Jungkook's face. It was hard to deny him, his pain was too eminent. "Okay. Alright, I will."
"Thank you."
"...need help up?"
"Yes please." Jungkook smiled a little and opened his eyes to look at Jimin.
"Alright, come on."
____
Jimin had been sleeping with Jungkook again for the past week, and it felt like every day he was getting more and more clingy. He wouldn't want Jimin to leave in the mornings, his leg had officially become part of their cuddles, and whenever he and Taehyung would come back, Jungkook would make sure Jimin ate right next to him.
With two weeks left on their journey, they were one city away from heading home. Jimin's notebook was just about filled, and they were all ready to head home...except Jungkook.
His injury had induced a fever upon Jungkook, concerning Jimin even more.
Jimin and Taehyung got the last of the names needed for the city, and we're heading to the last one tomorrow. Jungkook was still in bed.
When the two of them got back to their inn, Jungkook was reading through Jimin's notes. "Oh! You're back sooner than I thought."
"What're you looking at?" Jimin took a deep breath before letting it out. Their day had been exhausting.
"Trying to find something helpful."
"I'm glad you're awake and up. How are you feeling?"
"Alright." Jungkook set the notes down. "How did it go today?"
"It went well. One more city and I think we'll have the book all signed."
"Good, good." Jungkook stared at Jimin before looking away. "Good."
Jimin smiled. "It's okay."
"You're...you're wearing the earrings." Jungkook held back a smile.
"Annnndddd I'm going to take a shower." Taehyung went into the bathroom.
Jimin laughed a little. "I am."
"Then you accept?" Jungkook stood quickly, before sitting back down, going through all five stages of grief.
Jimin laughed more. "Take care of yourself Jungkook, gosh. You're still weak."
"I've never felt better." Jungkook smiled at him. "What made you change your mind?"
"Taehyung and I have been talking about it since you offered. And well...we're short on time."
"A-ah! I haven't- you should've told me, I would've prepared something for when you got back." Jungkook seemed to scramble, wanting to get up but still fairly weak. "Do we have candles and fruit?"
"I'm...sure we could find some. Everything is still open."
"Then I'll need- let me go with you to get some things."
"It's okay, just send me and Taehyung." Jimin helped Jungkook up and to his bed.
"No no, if you accept, I have to- there's a tradition for it. My dads would absolutely murder me if I didn't." Jungkook smiled a little. "Come on, you've gotta let me."
"Fine fine." Jimin couldn't help but give in, especially when Jungkook's eyes had such hope in them for the first time in months. "Let's tell Taehyung first."
"Alright. We need fruit, candles, and preferably some necklaces. We use pearl ones, but I'm not sure this place will have them."
"I'm sure we can find some." Jimin smiled wider before laughing. "You're cute. I love your smile so much."
Jungkook blushed a little, but kept eye contact. "Thank you...I'll make sure to make you happy."
"You're sweet." Jimin watched Jungkook try to change his clothes. "Want help?"
"I can get a shirt on."
Jimin watched him struggle. "...can you?"
"I can do it."
Taehyung got out of the shower, getting some clothes on, then going over and helping Jungkook with his shirt.
Jimin watched Jungkook pout at the help. "Aww~ how cute. You'll be staying on the horse okay?"
"What're you doing?"
"Traditional wedding things for dragons I believe." Jimin fixed up his hair.
"Oh! Fruits and pearls? I've always wanted to see one."
"We'll have a big one if I live. But for now...we can have a little one." Jungkook gave a small smile.
"Sounds good. I'll help you on the horse Jungkook."
The two helped Jungkook onto one of their horses, Jimin getting on after. "We'll be quick Taehyung."
"Better be. I'd go with you if I didn't understand the reasoning."
"Thank you." Jimin led the horse into the busy city, looking at the night markets. "Tell me when you see what you want."
"Well...we need a nice plate, some nice candles that you think smell good, and fruit as an offering. The pearls are more of a...purity thing."
"Purity?"
Jungkook laughed. "Yeah. You know. Like, promise we'll wait till marriage kind of thing."
"Oh, that kind of purity thing."
"Yeah. So like, the color shows your purity basically. Some get darker jewels to show that they've um, you know, and white jewels to show they're pure."
"So if you're a virgin or not."
"Yeah."
"Then we'll need white pearls, no?" Jimin smiled. "If we can have part of your tradition then that is what will happen." Jungkook smiled wide.
"Thank you. I'm...I'm really happy."
"Are you?" Jimin asked seriously, keeping an eye out for things they might need.
"I am. You're kind and full of heart. You do remind me of home."
"Oh? You haven't told me that before."
"Well, I better tell you everything before next week." Jungkook smiled a little. "Never thought my wedding would be a week before I die."
"Hey, you're not dying. Not on my watch."
"My wound isn't doing too grand."
"You're not dying. That's final. You don't get a choice." Jimin huffed before stopping the horse, getting off and looking at the candles. He would smell them, have Jungkook smell them, and then decide. They bought three.
"Well, I guess I don't have a choice then."
"Is this how you do it? No fiancés, just straight to marriage?"
"It...it barely counts as marriage. It's more like, companionship. It's promising we'll be loyal. That's really it. My dads promised their loyalty and then they had me. Family's a big deal."
"Oh, how did you become a part of their family?"
"They found me on their way to find somewhere to settle down with the other tribe. I was young, and they took me with them after finding out I was alone." Jungkook and Jimin kept an eye out for a nice plate, after getting some fruit and small pearl necklaces.
"That's crazy. You were alone?"
"Was. But not anymore."
Jimin pondered. "How do you have kids? I guess just adoption, huh. Unless we can get some high profile scientist, I know you can take femurs and get dna to mix together and make a child." Jimin thought about it harder. "I have money."
Jungkook laughed. "Thinking about kids already?"
"You said family is important. How could I ever deny you a family?"
Jungkook smiled. "Well, I would at least want to kiss you before we decide if we should have kids."
"Well, we should certainly do that."
"You know...I'm really sorry. For being evasive and just a real jerk to you and your feelings. I wish it was easy for me to just accept that you like me, but it's odd. I can't seem to find a reason for you to like me, yet you're willing to be with me."
"Oh Jungkook..." Jimin found them a plate. "You're sweet and you've got the kindest heart. My first impression of you was that you were kinda snarky, but I see that that was just a defense against a royal, which makes sense. But no, you're just...you're what I look for in a person. Someone who gets me and isn't afraid of my confidence and my affection."
"Well..." Jungkook got embarrassed. "I am afraid of you. You've got enough confidence for the both of us."
Jimin laughed. "That's alright. That just means no one will dare get in our way."
"Good." Jungkook smiled. "Safety is a priority."
The two made their way back to their inn, Jimin putting their horse in the stable, and helping Jungkook back to their room. They stayed right outside, setting up their little offering.
Jungkook set the plate down, putting the candles around it in a triangle. "Can you cut the fruit? My arms are too shaky."
"Sure thing." Jimin cut the fruit, letting Jungkook place it on the plate, then lighting the candles.
"One day, you'll have to let me have some of your earrings you cherish. Then it'll be forever."
"And will this be enough?" Jimin placed one of the necklaces over Jungkook's neck.
"Yeah. You're officially a king. Congratulations." Jungkook places the other over Jimin.
"Wow. It's nice without a crowd."
"I can be your crowd." Taehyung poked his head out of the window. "Wow~ look at the kings~ so gay, so stylish, so handsome, wow!~" Taehyung laughed as the two blushed. "Don't worry, I'm heading to bed now that you're back safe."
"Thank you Tae. Sleep well."
"Will do. Goodnight." Taehyung went back into the room, Jungkook giggling a little.
"He's a funny guy."
"He likes lightening the mood."
"It's certainly lighter than usual today."
"Well...we can't have a bad wedding day, can we?"
"Oh, obviously not." Jungkook smiled, looking up at the sky. She was happy too. "Are you happy Jimin?"
Jimin took one of Jungkook's hands. "I'm more than happy. I just wanted to make sure you wanted this."
"I'm happy. I am. I thought...maybe if I didn't get attached to you, I would be able to go home without a problem. But...I did get attached. And I let you run on a weird goose chase, and I'm sorry for that." Jungkook smiled a little more. "But yes...I'm happy. I'm happy it's you."
"You know...Taehyung was telling me of the part you two left out of the tale. About how peace will come with two mighty kings. As he said. I'm not sure how mighty you are." Jimin chirped at him, watching Jungkook smile.
"Hey, you're only king because of me."
"Doesn't make you so mighty, does it? Means you're a softy in love."
Jungkook blushed a little but looked at him. "And that makes me the mightiest of all. Love and compassion...my dads taught me that those qualities bring happiness. Not power and fear."
"Well, I need to meet your dads and maybe they'll teach my father as well. That's a good lesson."
"They're the best, what can I say?"
Jimin laughed. "Thank you."
"For?"
"For telling me how you feel." Jimin played with one of his earrings, the other hand still holding Jungkook's. "I've...I've been learning so much and to really be a part of your culture is...amazing."
"W-well. There's a bit more of ceremony that will have to wait."
"Oh?"
"Yeah." Jungkook blushed a little. "This isn't exactly the nicest place to have sex."
"It's not the worst."
Jungkook laughed. "I'd like to kiss you before we have sex."
"I think we can do that." Jimin smiled wide at Jungkook, who returned the favor.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." Jimin leaned closer, letting Jungkook close the gap between them. They kissed over their little offering to the moon, both making sure they wouldn't get burned from the lit candles.
"You're...so unfair..." Jungkook quietly spoke, his eyes on Jimin's lips as they pulled away a little.
"How so?"
"Your lips are really soft."
"I don't mind if you kiss them again." Jimin's confidence rose. Now whatever flirting he did wouldn't be too much or unwanted, and Jimin was not about to back down.
"Well, I sure hope you wouldn't." Jungkook moved their candles before leaning towards Jimin again.
The two spent the night like this, till Jungkook was tired and pouty, and Jimin's ass hurt from sitting on concrete for too long. They cleaned up the candles and themselves, but left the plate of cut fruit out. Jungkook promised Jimin it was for the birds.
____
Jin hastily made his way into the kingdom, bottles upon bottles of medicine in his bag. If Jimin and his group were heading back to the castle, he might as well try to meet them there. That would be another...day...at most. Maybe he could meet up with them before then. He checked Jimin's schedule again. He could meet up with them in their last city.
____
Jungkook sat up in his bed. He'd healed a little, but still not much. And now, they were out of medicine. Not to mention, Jungkook had almost been spotted on their traveling day, having forgotten to wear something on his head for the majority of their ride. Well, he was passed out, but Jimin told him everything anyways.
Jungkook was confused when he heard a knock on their inn door. People never came to the door. Jungkook got up slowly, getting a nearby chair and hobbling his way over to the door. It wasn't quick, or smooth, but it was something.
Jungkook opened the door a smidge. "Hello?"
"Is Taehyung here?"
"Who is this?" Jungkook blinked a lot, his eyes not used to the sun outside.
"It's Jin. Kim Seokjin? Is...are y'all?..."
"Oh! Jin, come in." Jungkook opened the door all the way, letting Jin inside. He started to hobble his way back to the bed before Jin helped him with it.
"I'm glad I caught up to you guys." He started to unpack his one bag, Jungkook shaking his head a little. He was getting right to work.
"Where've you been?"
"Oh? Jimin didn't say? I was with your tribe. Trying to make a good medicine for you. And I think we've got it. Will you let me try it on you?"
"You were with my dads?!" Jungkook's eyes widened. "How are they? Are they okay with me being gone? We're they worried? Are they okay?"
"They're okay...they said they knew the time would come. But mostly...they're worried about your back. When I told them the severity of it, they were concerned. When did it get so bad?"
"Not sure. Can you help me get my shirt off...?" Jungkook sheepishly asked. He was used to Taehyung and Jimin, but Jin was a little different, even if he was a doctor.
"Sure." Jin helped him, then started taking the bandages off. "I have a lot of faith in this...I hope it works. Your dads are very smart."
Jungkook smiled. "They're really okay?" He felt a cold lotion on his back and scrunched his nose. Lotion was weird.
"Yeah. They spoke about how the moon kept them updated on you. So don't even feel bad. Okay? How does it feel?"
"Cold. Sticky."
"Pain wise?"
"...feels good." Jungkook raised his arms. "Ah! I can- it doesn't hurt!"
"Good!" Jin quickly got a notebook out and wrote down the results. "Oh god thank god. We made a lot, but I'm afraid of what will happen in a week."
"Well fuck, me too." Jungkook nervously looked down.
Their door bursted open with a smiling Jimin. "Jungkook! Oh, Jin hyung! Guess what?" Jimin went over and hugged Jin tight, then went over to give Jungkook a kiss.
"...oh? What?" Jin looked surprised.
"We finished early! The book is complete with names! More than enough for my father to retire. We leave immediately."
"And a week before!" Jungkook smiled happily. "That's amazing!"
"Let's pack up, we walked for most of the day so the horses are alright. Taehyung, you're with Jin." Jimin started to pack up.
"The mayor in this city also agreed then huh?" Jungkook smiled wide. Each city had a mayor, and Jimin had gone to each of them to make his actions official. Only one mayor barely signed.
"Yep! It made it quick and easy." They finished, not having much anyways, and got on their horses. They made their way to the castle. "How was your little trip Jin hyung?"
"Calling me hyung now..." Jin grumbled. "It was nice. They were nice. I was scared I would have to do a lot of explaining, but as soon as they saw me they got right to work."
"Hospitality is a big deal."
"So it seems. Either way, it took a long time to get a correct formula, and god damn it Jimin you're lucky I'm smart. I don't think any other medicinal doctor could've done it as fast."
"Well, I only have the best, no? Thank you Jim hyung. Thank you so much. Maybe...things will go well." Jimin smiled.
"I hope so."
____
The four of them were silent when they arrived at the castle. Namjoon was waiting with the king by the door.
"Jimin! You've made your way home!" The king greeted him, but it felt strained. They all kept quiet except for Jimin.
"Yes, I know my way home. Nice to see you too. Namjoon, nice to see you again. How was your time?" Jimin had a small smile, but he noticed how quiet the place was. They let their people take their horses and things, Jin keeping his bag close.
"It was busy." Namjoon shared a look with Jimin, Jimin's eyes widening.
"Father, what have you done in the time I was gone?"
"Well...why don't you come to our feast tonight and I'll tell you?" The king gave a smile to Jungkook, who looked down. There was no kindness in his eyes.
"A feast?"
"For your return! You think I wouldn't have a feast for the return of my only son?"
"You said I wouldn't get a parade when I came back."
"Well, you bare the biggest gift!" He held his hands out wide, gesturing to Jimin and his crew.
"Do I?" Jimin looked at his father with concern.
"You brought the dragon right back to me! Guards." He put his hands behind his back, plenty of guards showing up and taking Jungkook.
"Hey- hey hey! Watch it!" Jungkook tried to fight them off, but his wound opened up at the sudden stretch in movement, causing Jungkook to cripple.
"Let go of him!" Jimin yelled, running over to Jungkook, but being stopped by more guards.
"Jimin. Do you think I'm so naive? I know a dragon when I see one. You brought an odd boy with a head covering to my doorstep. I know you want them to live, but tonight, you'll have to see him die."
"No!" Jimin yelled, trying to get out of their grip, but failing. "Don't touch him!"
The king turned around. "Take them to their rooms. Bring it with me." He gestured to Jungkook and walked away, the guards taking them all apart and away.
Jungkook watched in fear as Jimin was pulled away from him, his back hurting once again. Now...now wasn't the time to shift and save them all. Jimin needed to become king first.
"Dinner!" Jungkook yelled out, hoping Jimin would hear him. He watched Jimin nod and turn, walking with the guards.
"What are you planning little dragon?" The king spoke quietly and tore Jungkook's head covering off. "You're all going to become extinct. Today, I'll make a law at dinner, and kill you. Look forward to it, okay?" He gave Jungkook a small smile, before Jungkook was tugged away elsewhere. He went down stairs, down more stairs, and finally, down more stairs.
Jungkook looked at the dungeon. It was musty, and dark. Jungkook couldn't see the moon. He was put in a cell, chained to the wall, and left alone. The pain in his back was immense, but not as bad as it had been. Nothing he couldn't handle. He'd just have to wait till dinner.
____
Don't wear metal. Jimin said this to all of them before dinner, getting dressed. He kept his earrings on, but left all over metal in his room. He kept his notebook in his inside pocket. He got out of his room, seeing Namjoon, Jin, and Taehyung all ready to go. Taehyung waited outside, making sure that no other guards would...interfere.
The four walked, being guided by guards who were outside their room the whole time.
Jimin gave Jin a small look, and Jin patted his pocket. Jimin prayed their solid friendship was helping in their telepathy.
They reached the dinning room, Jimin having to take a deep breath as he saw Jungkook behind the kings chair at the end of the table, chained and muzzled. His scarf was gone, his hair exposed. He looked a little roughed, but nothing too bad. His eyes definitely looked darkened though.
"Son, have a seat. Dinner will be here any minute."
"Father. I would like to speak with you." Jimin took his seat, Jin and Namjoon as well. A couple other people were at the table, mostly other officials and right hand men to the king.
"Oh, what might it be this time?" The king raised an eyebrow.
Jimin took a big breath. "My travels were to get signatures. I spoke to every mayor and to every city council, getting signatures of those who oppose you on the throne." Jimin watched his fathers eyes widen.
"You what?"
"I know the laws we have. I've read them carefully. And I know that if every city agrees to change the king then it will happen. The people have the power, and I hand it to them."
"You...have not proof."
"I have every signature." Jimin got his notebook and slammed it on the table. "Tomorrow I'm king. And you'll...we'll figure out what to do with you."
The king laughed a little, before grabbing a knife from the table and walking over the Jungkook.
"Get your filthy hands away from him." Jimin lowered his voice, putting his notebook safely away.
"It's still legal." He pressed it to Jungkook's cheek. Jungkook looked up at him, glaring.
"I'd advise you to move away."
"Last words? Need to confess something?"
"Sure." Jungkook smiled with a little laugh. "I've got something." Jungkook started to shift, the king backing up and dropping the knife. By the time he finished, the king was on the floor in fear. "I believe...you know who I am?" Jungkook grinned, his teeth bared. His piercing blue eyes shocked the whole room.
Jimin himself wasn't used to it.
"Y-y-you're!-"
"Say it!" Jungkook barked at him wings outstretching, the room seeing the electricity in his mouth. Blue static could be see on his body. "Say it."
"You're the dragon king." He spoke quietly.
"Oh, good." Jungkook let his wings go back to his side, watching the king intently. "You know who I am."
The king suddenly grew angry, reaching for the knife again. Jimin yelled out, but was too slow. The king threw the knife, hitting Jungkook in the chest.
"Tch!" Jungkook moved back a tiny bit, before taking one step forward and pressing his nose against the king, the electricity going through Jungkook and into the king. He fell backwards and stopped moving. "Oops...wait." Jungkook moved back, making himself small so the others could go over to the king and check on him.
Jin went to check his pulse. "It's...um..." Jin swallowed his spit. "He's uh..." He shook his head. "Shift back and I'll heal you up Jungkook."
"...I need clothes..." Jungkook spoke quietly, making sure he wasn't in contact with anything else.
"It was the metal Jungkook. He's got a prosthetic leg, I'm certain that was...it's not...don't feel bad." Jimin walked over to him, Jungkook shaking his head.
"Don't touch me."
"I won't. I just...don't want you to feel bad." Jimin looked around and signaled for more help, the officials shocked, but leaving to do just that. "And...we did it...technically."
"I didn't mean to..."
"He tried to kill you. It's self defense."
"That doesn't make it okay!"
"It makes it more okay?"
Jungkook shook his head.
"He's- there's a small pulse, we can try and bring him back. Jimin..." Jin looked at him.
Jimin looked at Jungkook before nodding at Jin. "Try."
Clothes were brought, and Jungkook shifted, Jin slapping some healing lotion on his wounds before going back to the king, who was being moved to a different room.
The rest of them started to organize Jimin's coronation, making an announcement to the kingdom as quickly as they could.
Jimin was whisked away from Jungkook, busy with multiple things to take care of.
Jungkook stayed with Taehyung in the courtyard.
"So...you killed the king."
"Tae, I almost ate him. I...I'll feel so bad if he dies..."
"Why? He was an asshole. The worst. He let our people die..."
"That doesn't mean he deserves to die. There's life in everything and everyone."
"I'm gunna break it to you, he was pretty dead inside. If there's anything left to save, it's his prosthetic leg."
"Taehyung!"
"I mean it. Plus, you sounded cool in there. Some real strong man shit. Jimin's a lucky guy." Taehyung gave him a playful punch.
"Oh come on...it's only...it's the only time I have confidence. I look big and powerful."
"Of course you do my king."
"Oh cut it out already. You enjoy that too much."
"I do! It's fun. Besides, I'm looking forward to meeting the new dragons that come. I'll get to say I'm friends with the king." Taehyung laughed.
"I'll try and be in the field. Meet up with my dads beforehand."
"That's a good idea. And then?"
"Well...Jimin's my husband...so I'll live with him. Be a part of his world."
"Dang. That's really something."
"He's really something."
____
"And you promise he's the one? The real one? You love him?" Yoongi and Hoseok interrogated him, both being touchy with him after being gone too long.
"I promise. He's the one, and I love him. He's been very kind to me and our traditions too."
"He better. Otherwise I will beat the living-"
"Dad. We're married." Jungkook turned his head to show off his earrings. They were nice, blue sapphires, tear shaped. They matched the ones Jungkook had given Jimin, except those were rubies.
"W-wa- and you didn't tell us?" Hoseok gave Jungkook a small glare, but Jungkook only laughed.
"I wanted to make it the point of the calling. When all the dragons get here, I wanted to show them why there's peace. And it's cause I'm married to Jimin. It'll be a big party and all." Jungkook smiled wide.
"You think you can do it?"
"I know I can." Jungkook smiled wider. "When has anything stopped me before?" He hugged them, before helping in their kitchen, getting instructed around.
Hoseok and Yoongi smiled. He was still their sweet boy. "Do you think...he knows the severity?"
"No, I don't. But I trust Jin. Jungkook's wound was healing faster than ever before with that stuff, so I have no doubt it'll be okay."
____
Jungkook looked around him to see his friends and family before flying up into the air. The moon was loud, almost yelling at him to get as high as possible. So he did. He listened to the moon with his whole heart, going higher, clouds upon clouds, never ending, as he felt the electricity in the air.
Lightning struck his back, one after another after another, Jungkook focusing on it and letting it go through him, and out his mouth, creating a thunderstorm all on his own. The lightning strikes were so close together, it was like a constant beam of light.
Jungkook was in the air for the whole night, stopping only when the clouds cleared and the moon was silent. He landed and immediately shifted, Jimin quickly putting pants on him. Jungkook laid flat on the ground, not moving.
Jin quickly put the lotion on his whole back. It looked...so so bad. Jimin covered his mouth, not wanting to stress out anyone.
Jungkook's whole back was black from the lightning strikes. It was bloody, and black and burned. Jimin looked around, seeing dragons upon dragons around him, and medics coming to help Jin stop the blood and clean the wounds.
Jimin couldn't hear anything, too in shock, as Jin yelled, and the other dragons started to shift and get clothes that Jimin had brought. The old kings clothes weren't needed anymore.
"...in! Jimin!" Jimin looked to his side to see Taehyung. "Come on, we're going to move him inside the house. You want to come right?"
"I- I should greet-"
"Jimin. Hoseok, Yoongi and their tribe are going to keep that handled. You're allowed to put Jungkook first." Taehyung grabbed his hand and led him to Jungkook.
He was lying on his stomach, the doctors treating him. Carefully using alcohol to disinfect, and carefully using betadine to help the burns. Jimin watched, not knowing how to help. He stood in the doorway, watching them work and take care of him.
When they finally left, Jin pulled up a chair for Jimin. "Here. He's gunna be alright. We've got a lot of the healing lotion, but for now...he'll need rest."
Jimin sat in the seat, taking one of Jungkook's hands. "Thank you Jin."
"Of course. What's the plan with the others?"
"They're being escorted to the castle. Yoongi said they'll stay until Jungkook wakes up."
"Good, good. You'll be staying here?"
"Yeah."
"Alright. The rest are heading back, but Namjoon said he'd stay with me here too. We'll be close if you need us. Taehyung's coming back after he shows the other shifters where they'll be for the night."
"Thank you."
"Goodnight Jimin."
"Goodnight."
____
Jungkook woke up after having the craziest dreams. His face hurt, Jungkook wanting to use his hands to push him up, but one was occupied. He saw Jimin asleep in a chair, holding his hand. Jungkook smile and tried to get up with his other arm, but gasped out and fell back down.
"Ah!" Jungkook felt the burns on his entire back, Jimin waking up instantly and calling for Jin.
"Jungkook, rest your head." Jimin let go of his hand and made Jungkook lay down again. He took a look at his back before yelling for Jin again.
Jin came in with sleep in his eyes before coughing and clearing his throat. "God, what a fucking sight." Jin and Jimin shook their heads.
"What?" Jungkook barked, wincing.
"You bled through your entire bandage." Jin started to undue it, Jimin helping. They threw it out, before cleaning his wound again, this time Jungkook reacting to it.
"Ow! Fuck- what- what are you putting on it?!"
"Disinfectant. And something that'll help the burns heal faster."
"It hurts!" Jungkook bit his lip.
"It will for a little bit. At least the lotion is working though...this already looks better than yesterday. I expect a week and you'll have a full recover." Jin finished up with the lotion, then bandaged him up again. "Call me if you need me." Jin left the room.
"A week? I need-"
"To rest. Jungkook, you're in no shape to greet everyone."
"I-I want to..." Jungkook pouted, his face squished against the pillow.
"Doesn't mean you should." Jimin gave him a kiss. "Besides, you don't look kingly, so you should wait."
"Jiminie." Jungkook pouted more. "Will you help me sit up? My face hurts."
"Ah, alright let me help you." Jimin helped him up, then sat beside him.
Jungkook was still pouty.
"What is it? Uncomfortable? Need anything?"
Jungkook kept his pout. "We're supposed to have our- what do you call it? A honeymoon? We're supposed to have our honeymoon within the same month."
"And we'll have time. There's no need to stress over it." Jimin relaxed.
"But- but I wanna."
"You want to stress over it?"
"I want to do more than just kiss you sometimes." Jungkook looked at him, his cheeks a little red.
Jimin smiled. "Oh, how cute." Jimin laughed. "You're adorable. Absolutely adorable." Jimin kissed him, holding Jungkook's cheek. "I wish we could do more than kiss, but with this injury...we have to wait."
"I don't want to."
"We're going to have to. For your sake."
"But Jimin-"
"No buts. You're going to have to be healed before we have sex. That's just how it's going to be." Jimin gave him another kiss before smiling more. "Okay?"
"Okay..."
"Don't worry. The time will come."
____
Jungkook greeted the dragon shifters in the castle, finally wearing a shirt for the first time in a week. He greeted each one, making good conversation. Jimin loved watching him, but he was also busy. He'd greeted them all before, but had some duties to take care of for the kingdom.
With the passing of his father, he had a lot more things to take care of. New laws, changing old laws, and keeping the castle open to those outside of it. The kingdom was going to build a small hotel building outside of the kingdom walls for shifters who landed in the field if they wanted to stay.
Besides some other minuscule problems, Jimin was sure their kingdom was doing much better.
Jungkook walked up to Jimin's throne, Jimin composing himself with a smile.
"You okay there Jimin?"
"Busy day."
"It was. They're going to head out now...make their way to their own homes, but they know it's okay to be here now." Jungkook smiled. "You ready to head to bed?"
"Ah, I've got some more things to do before we can sleep."
"You're overworking yourself." Jungkook shook his head. "Besides, I need to get this shirt off, so let's go."
Jimin laughed. "Fine fine." He stood and took Jungkook's hand, the two walking to their room. "How was your day?"
"It was nice. Lots of people, but...there's so many elements! And I loved seeing everyone find others and could relate and feel happy with them, without even knowing their names. I brought a whole community together again." Jungkook smiled happily. "Even if no one else was like me, that's okay. As long as they feel happy."
"Do you feel happy?" Jimin looked at him.
"I do. I have you. And I have my dads, and Namjoon and Jin and Taehyung. That's all I need to be happy."
"Well, especially me." Jimin huffed as they got to their room. He went over to his desk, cleaning it up before sitting down and writing.
"Ah- Jimin, you get your ass in the bath right now and get ready for bed." Jungkook took his shirt off and let it fall to the ground before sitting on the edge of Jimin's desk with his arms crossed.
"Mmm..." Jimin stood up and took in all of Jungkook. He got in between his legs, hands on either side of his body. "You look enticing."
Jungkook blushed a little. "O-oh?" He shivered as Jimin ran his hands up Jungkook's sides, his hands pressing against Jimin's chest as he leaned in.
"I don't get a kiss?" Jimin let his hands go down his sides and to his thighs, leaning in.
Jungkook stuttered, becoming a buffoon. "Y-I mean, you can have- of course." He stopped talking, his cheeks becoming red. "Of course you can."
"Then come here." Jimin leaned farther, Jungkook leaning back. "Oh, I will fuck you over this desk if you don't give me a kiss."
Jungkook blushed more, but leaned forward, the two kissing. Jimin tightened his grip on Jungkook's thighs, earning a small gasp from Jungkook. "J-Jimin. I thought you wanted a bath." Jungkook spoke quietly, Jimin musing at the sight of an embarrassed Jungkook.
"I do. But, it would be better with you there, no?"
"You're...being very..."
"Haven't you been waiting too?" Jimin moved away, fixing his clothes a tad bit.
Jungkook missed his touch already. "...I have."
"Then why are you so embarrassed?" Jimin laughed, Jungkook smiling at his crescent eyes. "It's not like we haven't talked about it before."
"I...you're just...so confident. It's...just something."
"Something?" Jimin raised an eyebrow before heading to the bathroom, taking his clothes off as he went. Jungkook followed behind him.
"Yeah. You're just...you're really pretty when you're in charge you know?" Jungkook laughed a little, still very red.
Jimin started the bath water. "Well...that's very good to know." He finished getting undressed and got in the tub. He looked up at Jungkook. "You coming?"
"I'm invited?"
"I'm inviting you in." Jimin stopped the water, watching Jungkook sheepishly take off his clothes and get in. They sat across from each other.
"It's uh, nice water." Jungkook licked his lips, keeping his eyes no lower than Jimin's neck.
Jimin laughed. "You're ridiculous! You're- god you're allowed to look." Jimin laughed more, Jungkook looking away, covering his face.
"It's- I'm not used to it."
"And I am? I don't take baths with people. But you're my husband and you're kinda cute." Jimin teased. "So it's fine. You better get used to it." Jimin tried to drag Jungkook closer, but Jungkook gave resistance. "Jungkook."
Jungkook removed his hands from his face, running them through his hair so it wasn't in his eyes. "Yes?"
"Come here."
"A...and then what?" Jungkook smiled a little, still very embarrassed.
"And then I'll see what you like." Jimin smiled with ease, drawing Jungkook closer.
"L-like?"
"Come. Sit in front of me. Turn around."
Jungkook did as told, resting his back against Jimin with a deeper blush on his cheeks. He was positively red.
"See? Not so bad." Jimin let his hands roam over Jungkook's skin, finally resting on his thighs.
"Y-you're very touchy tonight..."
"Like you haven't ever been?"
"Cuddles are different." Jungkook spoke quietly.
"Mmm. That's true. But you've been oh so kind to me, telling me nightly how your wound is getting healed. You've indulged me before, why not again?"
"I- I just- wow, it's getting late, no?" Jungkook laughed with embarrassment.
"Nope." Jimin gripped his thighs, kissing his back and neck.
Jungkook shivered. "Ah, Jimin-"
"Is there a problem?" Jimin kept kissing, biting here and there.
"N...no..." Jungkook whispered, tensing his muscles under Jimin's touch. "Ah!" Jungkook gasped, hearing Jimin chuckle, as Jimin let a hand wander to Jungkook's dick, starting to pump him. "J-Jimin!"
"Yes?" Jimin continued, kissing and marking Jungkook's neck and back. It was weird to see his back bare of any marks.
"I- you're-" Jungkook got caught on his words, unable to speak as Jimin continued to move his hands and lips. One hand rubbing his thigh, the other getting Jungkook hard, his lips continuing to bite and suck on Jungkook's skin. Jungkook felt slightly overwhelmed.
"Yes sweetheart?" Jimin spoke lowly, moving up slightly to get Jungkook's earlobe in between his teeth.
Jungkook melted under his touch. "Nothing." He gave a dazed smile, bitting his lip to not moan.
"Good." Jimin continued, loving when Jungkook would give small haa's and curses under his breath. "You sound beautiful my love."
"Ahh, don't...don't think about it..." Jungkook almost whimpered, Jimin teasing him by slowing down his hand. "N-no, don't- keep- keep moving." Jungkook sputtered out his words, Jimin giggling.
"Sure thing." He moved his hand faster, Jungkook moaning softly. Jimin let his other hand move from Jungkook's thigh up his stomach and chest, pinching a nipple.
Jungkook yelped and batted Jimin's hand away. "D-don't!"
Jimin laughed again. "Too sensitive?"
"T-too much at once." Jungkook got the sentence out in a heave, just about moving into Jimin's hand.
"Mmmm~" Jimin played with Jungkook's earlobe again, biting down, feeling the earring against his lip.
Jungkook seemed to be like putty, giving in to Jimin's touches.
"C-close Jimin- ah, I'm close." Jungkook seemed more open now, not as embarrassed, and Jimin loved it.
"Alright darling." Jimin sped up, feeling Jungkook curve into himself and come, breathing slightly heavily. "Feel good?" Jimin moved his hands to finally start taking a bath. He started to wash Jungkook's hair.
"Y-yeah." Jungkook spoke weakly, letting Jimin clean him. The two eventually finished taking a bath, getting out and drying themselves off.
"Come on Jungkook, no need to be sheepish now." Jimin took Jungkook's hand and led him to their bed, both only having a towel on.
"I'm...not sheepish...just slightly embarrassed."
"Why? Because I made you feel good?" Jimin sat on the bed, back against the headboard. He moved towards the middle of the headboard. Jungkook took his towel off and got on the bed too, getting on top of Jimin.
"N-no, not because of that." Jungkook blushed pink. "M-more...more because...I really want you to fuck me."
"Well that...can be arranged." Jimin smiled and pulled Jungkook closer, kissing him while letting his hands roam Jungkook's body. Jimin felt Jungkook's hips move down on his lap, kissing passionately at the same time. Jimin couldn't help but smile. "You're so cute Jungkook. Look at you, getting so needy." Jimin teased him, watching Jungkook blush more.
"J-Jimin..." Jungkook whined. "Please."
"Please?" Jimin cocked his head, enjoying Jungkook's pink blush on his cheeks. "Please what my love?" Jimin let his hands go to Jungkook's ass, giving him a nice squeeze.
"Jimin!" Jungkook yelped, jumping a little.
"Yes? Tell me what you're asking for?" Jimin smiled up at him.
"I- Jimin, please." Jungkook whined, closing his eyes as Jimin continued to kneed into his ass. His cheeks were still a pleasant pink.
"Please what?" Jimin brought Jungkook's ass down, getting him to whine again.
Jungkook blushed deeper, glaring at Jimin. "Y-you're just trying to get a rise out of me."
"You're cute, that's why. I think I'll like when you get needier. You know I'll take care of you, right? Tell me what you want."
"I...I know that, yes." Jungkook huffed, Jimin teasing him more. "But- but I want- I want you to- please."
"You want me to...please?" Jimin smiled happily, watching Jungkook knit his eyebrows together, slightly annoyed. Jimin loved it.
"Please fuck me Jimin. We've been waiting and- and we're married and we- I need it." Jungkook sounded exasperated, getting Jimin to giggle.
"You're cute. How do you want it?"
Jungkook laughed a little. "However you do? It's love no matter what. That's all I want."
Jimin smiled more. "You're cute. You're absolutely adorable." Jimin teased him more, bringing Jungkook's ass down on him again.
Jungkook whined loudly. "A-aren't you hard? Don't you- don't you want to just fuck me already?" Jungkook pouted, Jimin absolutely loving it.
"You're just so fun to tease, what can I say?"
Jungkook tried to kiss him again, Jimin nipping his bottom lip. Jungkook looked exasperated. "Jimin!"
"Yes?"
"Please." Jungkook whined, bringing himself down on Jimin's clothed cock. He was getting hard, but it was just too cute to see Jungkook like this.
"Mmmm, maybe."
Jungkook glared and got off of Jimin, moving his towel and throwing it away, before softly taking Jimin's base and taking him whole.
Jimin almost jumped at the movement, not prepared for it at all, moaning out. "Jungkook!"
Jungkook continued, Jimin still taken by the initial shock. "J-Jungkook, fuck, let me- let me get you prepped- fuck, goddamn it, come on."
Jungkook laughed a little, pulling off and wiping his mouth. "Sorry." He laughed a little, seeing the spit on Jimin's dick.
Jimin was hard, turned on, and ready to take Jungkook right there. Jungkook seemed to understand Jimin's eyes were darker, more filled with lust, definitely more serious than before.
Jimin sat up, Jungkook laying back in surprise, as Jimin reached in his bedside table draw, pulling out what Jimin had gotten two weeks ago, and opened the lube bottle, pouring it on his fingers. Jimin's hand raised Jungkook's leg, pushing a finger into Jungkook. Jungkook gasped, Jimin moving slightly roughly.
"J-Jimin!"
"Hm? Handling it well?" Jimin pushed another finger in, Jungkook moaning and wincing. He was on the thin line of pleasure and pain, but not sure where he was on that line.
"J-Jimin, s-slower." Jungkook almost whimpered, but instead he took a deep, shaky breath.
"Thought you wanted me to fuck you, no?"
"I-I do, but what I'm saying-"
"Is that I need to prep you fast so I can fuck you sooner. I would've done it right on my desk but you said we needed a bath. Well...I would've done it anywhere really."
"S...shameless..."
"I'm beautiful. And you're beautiful. Why should I feel shame for being confident? Why should you feel shame for feeling good?" Jimin continued, but his voice was softer, full of love.
Jungkook felt himself start to tear up. "I want to feel good."
"Good. I plan on making you feel good." Jimin noticed the change in mood. It was no longer about the sex, but more about the love that they most definitely felt and wanted to share.
It was never about fucking and sleeping with each other. It was never about getting dick and kissing lips. It was never about being sexual.
No, it was always about deep, unexplainable love. It was being drawn to each other, over and over, remembering what they said the first time they met, holding onto those memories until they met again, sharing and hoping the other was also just as intrigued and blown away by their draw to the other. It was how Jungkook never forgot that small, cute prince boy, who wanted to help his entire family simply because he loved Jungkook. It was about Jimin seeing those eyes that seemed to have so many stories, so many stars, so many galaxies and wanting to have his part of Jungkook's life.
It was never about their genitals. Fuck no.
It was about falling in love and being guided by the moon to finally be together. It was about putting aside being kidnaped and being forced to save your entire race to understand that Jimin was hiding under confidence to make things happen. Maybe that wasn't exactly the best thing to think about, and most love stories didn't happen like that, but it wasn't like their love story was normal.
Jimin saw Jungkook's eyes weep silently, Jimin pushing in finally, slowly, bottoming out, and kissing his tears. Kissing his wet cheeks, wiping them away. "Shh, shh shh...it's okay."
"I love you so much Jimin- I- I should've known sooner- I should've told you when I saw you the first time, I should've told you the time I took you home, I should've-"
Jimin kissed him. "I love you too. I should've said it as soon as I feel for those beautiful, stunning eyes of yours." Jimin kissed him again and again, taking Jungkook's hands and entwining their fingers. "I should've cried harder for you. Maybe then you would've let me stay."
"I wanted to protect you."
"And now I'm protected. Safe. Right here with you."
Jungkook couldn't help but cry more, but he nodded. "You can...you can move."
Jimin smiled, knowing how Jungkook was feeling. Definitely overwhelmed, but full of love. Jimin started to move, slowly at first, still having his hands entangled with Jungkook's, Jungkook laughing a little at how silly he looked. Jimin gave a playful glare, giving a rougher push in to make Jungkook moan and blush, becoming a little shy.
"You're beautiful. Look at that little blush, so cute~" Jimin teased, Jungkook giving a laugh, the kind that feels so nice and light, one right after a harsh cry. Jimin making Jungkook laugh brought him to heaven and back.
"Says you. You're looking pretty...pretty red yourself."
"I'm looking at the love of my life completely dashing under me, whining and moaning my name when I move, and telling me they love me. I think that's every right to feel a bit full of love and affection."
"Keep moving then, add more things to your list." Jungkook's cheekiness was coming back, the sheepish, shy boy growing comfortable.
"Why, you think I can get you to mewl? Or do dragons rawr?" Jimin laughed loudly at the idea, Jungkook laughing too. "Maybe just some nice groans, I'll aim for that instead." Jimin giggled and moved more, not letting go of Jungkook's hands.
Jungkook smiled and closed his eyes, eyebrows creasing as he let out a soft moan, Jimin living on it. "Y...you can...move more."
"You'll be okay?"
"Yeah. Feels good."
Jimin smiled lovingly, moving faster, making sure he wasn't too intense. He didn't want to hurt him, just make him to feel loved. He just wanted to make sure he was loved.
And by the moon was Jungkook feeling loved. He arched his back a little as Jimin penetrated him, hitting deep inside him, Jungkook not understanding how it could feel so good. His body felt so warm, burning whenever Jimin would thrust into him. It was too much and not enough all at once.
Jungkook moaned lewdly as Jimin hit a more sensitive spot, Jimin smiling like a mad man. "Wow Jungkook, who knew you could be so-"
"Don't." Jungkook stopped him, already beet red. "There's no need to...you know."
"-be so goddamn intoxicating. If- wow. If I knew that voice of yours could make such a noise, I would've-"
"J-Jimin." Jungkook moaned softly as he tried to explain something. "M-marriage- ah- marriage comes- Jimin!- comes first." Jungkook huffed at the end, knowing Jimin was thrusting into him just to disrupt his sentence.
"Then we should've gotten married sooner." Jimin mused at the sight. Jungkook was deliciously unraveling. His hair was a mess, his skin was red and hot, and the only thing he was missing was marks on his body. Jimin would have to do that during after sex cuddles.
Jungkook laughed a little. "I tried."
"For your people. Not for me." Jimin pouted, but moved a little faster, a little rougher, hearing Jungkook's voice become a little higher. Jimin grinned. "But that's alright. You're here now."
Jungkook tried to compose himself a bit, but Jimin didn't let him. Instead, he hit Jungkook's prostate, making Jungkook gasp. "Jimin!"
"Yes?"
"There- right- god there, do it again." Jungkook fumbled on his words, his red cheeks burning.
Jimin felt giddy, loving seeing Jungkook like this. It was nice to see him so happy, that fucked out glint in his eyes, his hands tightening around Jimin's. Jimin nodded, finally seeing Jungkook's small glare when he didn't move immediately, and thrusted into him again, right where Jungkook wanted.
Jungkook's face contorted with pleasure, no longer feeling any pain. It was as if Jimin knew Jungkook's entire body already, and what would make him feel good. "Jimin- J- Jimin, I'm- fuck-" Jungkook's voice cracked.
"Shhhh, it's okay. Don't worry your pretty little head."
"Don't want it to end."
"I'll love on you whenever you want me too."
Jungkook laughed a little, then choked out a broken moan. "Whenever?"
"Oh yeah. If you want to in the morning, after work, if you want to at the dinner table, our work room, out in-"
"I get it! Whenever, I get it." Jungkook felt embarrassed. Jimin meant whenever, wherever, and Jungkook couldn't help but feel embarrassed but the idea of others seeing them.
"But don't worry. No one else is allowed to see you like this. Never." Jimin smiled, but Jungkook could see the glint in his eyes. It was a little bit scary, but somehow safe.
"Good. It's for us only." Jungkook smiled. "Special. It's special."
"Fuck yeah it is. It's so very special." Jimin felt Jungkook shake a little, his hands gripping Jimin's.
"Close."
"Me too sweetheart. Feeling good?"
Jungkook nodded, eyes shut tight. Jimin moved a little sloppier, but still hit Jungkook's prostate. Jungkook arched his back, moaning loudly. "Jimin!"
Jimin smiled wide at the sound of his name in Jungkook's mouth, knowing he was the reason Jungkook was feeling good. "Close- I'm close." Jimin chased his high, though trying to please Jungkook his main priority.
Jungkook came first, coating Jimin's chest in his release, Jimin coming almost immediately after. He fucked out his high, going slow, Jungkook feeling overstimulated.
"Ah- ah- Jimin-"
"Too much?" Jimin continued, trying to ease himself.
Jungkook nodded, pouting a little. "I want you closer."
"How much closer can I get?" Jimin smirked a little, smug about being inside Jungkook. "Ah, but you are right. I need to be close enough to mark up that nice, clear neck of yours."
"B-but then all my meetings-"
"It'll be fine. Besides, everyone knows you're my husband. They'll know you're absolutely, entirely mine."
Jungkook giggled. "I want cuddles and kisses though."
Jimin pulled out, cleaning them up. "Of course, we must. It's required." Jimin grinned and laid down next to Jungkook, pulling him close.
"Good." Jungkook buried his head in Jimin's neck, kissing him sweetly.
Jimin held him close, burying his head in Jungkook's hair, hand on the back of his head. "Comfortable?"
"Yeah. You smell nice."
"I smells like sex."
"Ah." They giggled together. "Well...it isn't a bad smell."
"Well, maybe I can make sure you get to smell it more often now."
Jungkook giggled again, feeling light. "We're married."
"We are. Is there any more, to your traditions I need to know of?"
"That's the final piece. We're married." Jungkook laughed happily, pushing away from Jimin to move up and kiss him, again, and again, and again and again.
Jimin pushed their lips together to stay together.
They stayed together all night.

"Haha~" Taehyung chimed, poking Jungkook's neck. "Look at that~ you've been eaten alive. Jimin! Look at his face, he's beet red!"
Jimin went over quickly, the seven in the room laughing while working on new laws and connections.
"Oh, would you look at that. He's red as a beet." Jimin smiled. "You should be proud Kookie, no?"
"I am proud, but I'm also embarrassed." Jungkook hid himself in his sweater.
"It's fine Jungkook, we could all hear you anyways. You know our rooms are close by, right?" Jin raised an eyebrow,
Jungkook blushed more, Jimin proudly puffing his chest. "I thought the walls were more...thick." Jungkook quietly spoke.
Namjoon laughed. "So did I!"
"Oh come on!" Jungkook whined. "How was I supposed to know? After the first time Jimin was just so very adamant on marking every part of my body." Jungkook covered himself again.
"He tried to run away." Jimin checked his nails, sitting on Jungkook's desk. "So I fucked him against the walls."
"I wasn't running, I was going to the bathroom." Jungkook groaned, slamming his head against his desk as the others laughed at him. "And when I woke up, he was drawing me! Naked!"
"Jimin! The poor boy has been limping all day. You didn't need to add on drawing him." Hoseok laughed, getting Yoongi to chuckle. "He won't be able to meet the rest of the shifters scheduled for today's meeting."
"You know how much it hurts to sit right now? I should be pampered but instead you made me get up and go to work today."
"Being a king is hard work. You'll have to get used to me being a pain in your ass, cause now that I have a lot more information about what you're like in bed-"
"Ah! Stop, no need!" Jungkook raised his head alarmed, getting a confident feeling off of Jimin.
They laughed again.
"Besides Jungkook...it's not like much is secret anyways. Secrets don't last long with Namjoon around."
"Okay, okay, so I spoil things sometimes." Namjoon rolled his eyes.
Jungkook shook his head. "How is my- never mind." Jungkook looked up at Jimin, pouting.
"Don't worry sweetheart, they'll never know how you look. They were bound to hear anyways." Jimin kissed him sweetly. "Right?"
"Right."
Thank you @Mjuicy_JiKook for this idea! I hope it was fun to read. Also, I had to search the name a couple times because it changed from the first time you commented the idea, but it was well worth it. 💜
