Jiara week - story #2 - only one bed

this is the longest "one shot" i've ever done. hope it's not too long. enjoy!

The pogues were going on a weekend trip to Florida. It was the girls idea to take a little trip before their senior year. They were packing up Kie's jeep with all their luggage when Pope texted in the group chat and said that he wasn't going to make it on the trip and to have fun without him. He didn't feel like he had prepared enough for his scholarship interview which was on Monday, so he stayed home to study.

The four hit the road and took turns driving to their destination. They were planning on staying at Ward and Rose's beach house. Sarah and Kiara had spent many vacations in that beach house together. But when they arrived, there was a problem. Ward forget to tell the girls he rented the house out for the summer. They were left with no choice but to find a hotel. Most hotels were full, but one had two open rooms which John B said they needed because he wanted time alone with his girlfriend.

John B and Sarah had a room on the second floor and JJ and Kiara were all the way up on the fourth floor. John B and Sarah got off the elevator and headed to their room and the doors closed and JJ said, "So we'll have at least an hour to kill"

"Wanna drop our bags off in our room and check out the ocean?" Kiara suggested

"Hell yeah" The blonde replied

The two walked down the hallway to room 416 and put the keycard in the door. JJ opened the door they walked into their room and immediately put their bags down. However, they both noticed an issue. There was only one bed. They've shared a bed (and a hammock, and the couch, and even the floor of the Twinkie) plenty of times before and it really shouldn't be a big deal, but right now it felt like a big deal. Maybe it was because all the other times they've slept next to each other, the others were never far away. They were in the next room, in the hammock beside them, or even just a few feet away inside the Chateau. This was different because they were truly alone.

Neither of them spoke about there only being one bed. It was one of those if we don't talk about it or think about it maybe it will go away situations. Kiara had texted her best friend, Sarah and said:

Kie: We have a problem! Our room only has one bed. Can you check with the front desk and get us a room with two beds please?

Obviously, Sarah didn't respond as she was busy in bed with her boyfriend. Little did Kie know that JJ had also texted his best friend, John B.

JJ: Dude, your girlfriend fucked up and a room with one bed. I'm going to be sleeping on the floor which you know hurts my back. Can I cash in that favor you owe me and bunk in your room and Sarah can crash with Kie?

JJ and Kiara walked a few blocks to the beach. The ocean was beautiful and so was the beach. The two looked at each other and knew they had to get in the water. Since they spent the whole day in the car, they weren't wearing their swimsuits. JJ ditched his shoes, shirt, and shorts, leaving him in only his boxers. Kiara took off her shirt leaving her in a sports bra and her athletic shorts as she didn't think wearing her thong was appropriate with all the people around.

JJ and Kie ran into the water like children and JJ was trying to teach Kiara how to bodysurf. She'd never done it before as she's always had a surfboard, JJ on the other hand grew up bodysurfing because he couldn't afford a board.

The waves were dying down and the friends exited the ocean and grabbed their clothes. JJ attempted to put his shorts back on over his boxers and it was a struggle which resulted in Kiara laughing at him. The two went back to their hotel room and saw a text in a group chat with the four pogues who were in Florida.

Sarah: We're going to dinner so please look presentable. Yes, I'm talking to you JJ

"Dude, she totally called you out" Kiara teased

Once in the hotel room, JJ just began peeling his wet clothes off. He wasn't really thinking and Kiara turned and luckily she only saw his bare ass.

"JJ" She yelled turning around to face the wall

"Shit, sorry... I kinda forgot" He said heading into the bathroom and turning on the shower

Kiara got dressed and touched up her makeup while JJ was in the shower. Sarah had also texted her back

Sarah: I'm really sorry, Kie... I just checked and all the rooms are full. Are you going to be okay? If you really want, I can come stay with you and JJ can go stay with John B

Kie: No, it's okay. I know you and John B have been looking forward to this for a long time. We'll figure it out

Once JJ was out, she went into the bathroom and started doing her hair. It was a mess she did some cute hairstyle and put it up so it was out of her face.  While Kiara was in the bathroom doing her hair, JJ was busy texting John B.

John B: I'm not sharing a room with you. You and Kie pass out together all the time. It'll be fine

JJ: I'm sleeping on the floor, how is that fine?!?

John B: You could share the bed with Kie. That's an option

JJ: Not happening...

John B: Why? Don't trust yourself? 😏

JJ: 🖕Heading down to the lobby

Kiara and JJ got in the elevator and headed to the lobby to meet John B and Sarah. The four went to some restaurant on the beach and the whole trip was on the girls, which the boys both appreciated. Once again, John B and Sarah ditched their friends and went for a romantic walk on the beach to watch the sunset. Tomorrow was a busy day. They were getting up early and going scuba diving, parasailing, and swimming with dolphins. After a long travel day, Kiara was exhausted.

She grabbed her pajamas out of her suitcase along with her shower stuff and headed into the bathroom. She took a long shower and then brushed her teeth. When she exited the bathroom, all ready for bed. JJ was getting off the bed and he grabbed a pillow and and the blanket that was at the end of the bed and Kie stopped him.

"You don't have to sleep on the floor, JJ. We can share the bed... It's not like we haven't slept together before" Kiara said immediately regretting her word choice but JJ caught it as he smirked

"Don't say anything. You know what I meant and don't get your hopes up because that's never going to happen" She said laying down in the bed on one side and JJ did the same thing on the other side of the bed

"Do you care if I take my shirt off?" JJ asked which Kiara thought was odd as he's never asked that before, he's always just taken his shirt off

"No" Kie answered simply not wanting to talk about it

The two both scrolled on their phones for a bit before trying to sleep. Kiara was facing the wall and JJ the window, both lay there wide awake, unable to sleep but not wanting to move and disturb the other. JJ was the first one to move, he got up and went to the bathroom and Kie looked at him when he got back in bed.

"Sorry, didn't mean to bother you" JJ apologized

"You didn't" She confirmed as she didn't want him to feel guilty

"Can't sleep?"

"No, just a tiny bit nervous about all the adventures we're going on"

"Like what?"

"Mainly parasailing... I don't like heights that much"

"You have nothing to worry about. I'll be up there with you" JJ tried comforting her as he rolled over to face her and propped himself up on one elbow as he looked at Kie

"I'll keep you safe, I promise" He reassured her

"You always do" She replied softly

"Always will" He said getting lost in her beautiful eyes

JJ looked at her lips and he slowly started to lean in to kiss them. Kie was doing the same thing, her heart racing. There were still a few inches between them when JJ's phone starts ringing. It totally kills the mood and Kie says, "You should probably answer that"

JJ picks up the phone and of course, it's Pope asking how the trip is going. He was doing some night studying and totally cock blocking. Maybe it was for the best. JJ was going to kiss Kie and he thinks she was going to let him.

The night morning when Kiara's alarm went off, her legs were tangled with JJ's. His arm rested on her bare stomach as she shirt had ridden up. They untangled themselves and got ready for their busy day. They both pretended like they didn't almost kiss last night and had the best day adventuring with John B and Sarah. It was like they were magnets that were fighting so hard to stay apart but it was impossible. It felt like the room was getting smaller as the seconds passed.

It's hard to know who leaned in first, but within seconds the two connected their lips. Kiara quickly pulled back and looked at the blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy who she just kissed, her best friend.

Their hearts were racing as they were lost in each other's eyes. Kiara just needed a second to take in this moment before she leaned back in to reconnect her lips with JJ's. They continued to kiss and JJ was the first one to initiate tongue. Kiara didn't hesitate to let his tongue slip into her mouth.

He pulled her body closer to his. His hand rested on her hip and the other was on her face. Kie's hands were buried in JJ's hair. John B: Morning losers, be in the lobby in twenty minutes as we have a lot to do today

"Guess we better get going" JJ said but he wished he could just stay in bed with Kiara all-day

He watched as she sat up, careful to keep the bedsheet covering her chest. She pulled the sheet with her as she got up.

"You don't have to cover up after what we did last night" JJ joked

"Just because we had sex doesn't mean you get free looks" She said grabbing JJ's t-shirt and putting it on to wear as a dress as she headed to the bathroom which was a good thing because JJ got a boner from seeing her in only his t-shirt

Kiara got ready for their busy day and when she came out of the bathroom, JJ was still in bed. Kiara rolled her eyes and said, "Get your ass out of bed, we're meeting them in the lobby in five minutes"

"You were hogging the bathroom" JJ replied as he got up, still naked and walked to the bathroom as he didn't seem to care

JJ went to the bathroom and came back out, still naked and Kiara said, "Seriously, you need to at least put your boxers back on"

She refused to look at him and JJ found it funny. But he listened and went over to his bag and got clothes for the day. He grabbed his wallet and his phone and said, "Let's go"

Kiara stopped him telling him that he needed to fix his hair. Although, she thought to herself how sexy he looked with his messy hair especially because she was the one who messed it up.

"You're the one who messed it up" He smirked grabbing her brush off the bathroom counter, wetting it, and brushing his hair quickly

"Something wrong with your own brush?"

"Didn't bring on" JJ answered honestly which made Kiara laugh because of course, JJ didn't bring a brush or a comb, they were both just lucky he remembered a toothbrush

They got in the elevator and JJ looked at Kiara and asked, "We're not telling them what happened, right?"

"Hell no..." She confirmed as the elevator doors opened and they saw John B and Sarah

John B and Sarah had been waiting for only a few minutes and they saw their friends get off the elevator and then they headed out to adventure. They had a busy day at Disney. While JJ and Kiara thought they were hiding what happened last night perfectly, John B and Sarah were totally onto them.

John B noticed how JJ made a point not to check Kie out and he didn't drop a single flirty comment all day when he had many opportunities. Sarah noticed how Kie would gravitate towards JJ more and how she was trying really hard to make it seem like nothing was going on. And then there was the fact that there was a hickey on her neck that she didn't have last night at dinner.

John B and Sarah both gave each other a look as Sarah whispered, "They totally hooked up last night"

"It's so obvious, but don't say anything. It could set JJ off and the last thing we need is him to do something stupid"

"Fine" Sarah said annoyed but knew her boyfriend was right

The couple just laughed at how bad they were at hiding whatever was going on. John B and Sarah both shipped them and thought they'd make an adorable couple. They balanced each other out well. Disney was a ton of fun and they were all exhausted after a long day.

JJ and Kie got back to their room late and Kie headed right for the shower. She felt sticky and gross after being at Disney all day. JJ patiently waited his turn for the shower. He was tempted to walk in there and join her but he didn't even know what they were. He didn't want it to just be a one time thing. He cared about her and liked her way too much for it to just be a hookup.

JJ came out of the bathroom and Kie was already asleep. He laid down in bed on his back and almost immediately Kie moved over so she curled up next to him with her head resting on his chest. JJ noticed that she was wearing one of his t-shirts to bed. He smiled to himself as he put his arm around the girl who he had the biggest freaking crush on. He lightly rubbed her back as she drifted off to sleep but before falling asleep she whispered, "I love you"

JJ whispered back, "I love you too" as he moved so he could kiss her lips goodnight

The pair fell asleep and they both slept amazing. The next morning, the two of them got up early and got breakfast on the beach. JJ was trying to work up the courage to kiss Kie again but he was scared of rejection. He was also terrified to ask her to be his girlfriend. He's never been in a relationship before and this is all new territory.

Luckily, Kiara got sick of waiting for JJ to make a move so she kissed him when the time was right. He finally asked, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Kiara got the biggest smile and asked, "Girlfriend, huh? Since when do you do relationships?"

"I never said I didn't do relationships. Just never felt right with any of the other girls" JJ said and he noticed Kie's face drop when she thought about how many girls there have been before her

"Shit... I mean yeah we both know there's been a lot of other girls but I know it sounds shitty but I didn't ever care about them, not the way that I care about you. Kie, the other night can't just be a hookup... It's not even about the sex for me. I loved how you fell asleep in my arms and seeing your first thing in the morning. I love being with you like just hanging out with you"

Kie smiled and said, "It can't just be a hook up for me either. I love everything about you.. JJ Maybank, you're one of a kind and you're mine which makes me the luckiest girl in the world"

It felt good for JJ to hear his new girlfriend say that to him. Navigating a relationship was going to be a new challenge for him but he was determined to make it work and so was she.

When it was time to go home, they were leaving super early as they wanted to get ahead of the traffic. They got into the backseat of the car and instead of leaving the middle seat open, Kie sat there and rested her head on his shoulder and he kissed the top of her head as she fell asleep.

John B and Sarah both knew they were together and they didn't make a big deal about it. They were happy for their friends. After switching stopping to switch drivers, eat, and get gas, they arrived back at the Chateau where Pope was waiting for them. They unloaded the car and Kie was heading back home to Figure Eight. JJ walked over to her and hugged her and she kissed him quickly.

"What?! When did that happen?" Pope asked shocked

John B and Sarah smiled at their friends who were macking and informed Pope that they shared a room and were totally dating now. They made Pope promise not to make a big deal out of it. It was JJ's first relationship and no one wanted to scare him or put too much pressure on him.

Kie left and JJ went inside and took a nap. He was exhausted and about an hour later he woke up to eat. Sarah had returned home and it was just John B and Pope here. The three were all spending the night here. They stayed up too late talking about the trip and JJ even kinda told them he was dating Kie but didn't say much. He wanted a quiet relationship and he would reveal details when he was ready.

It was late and he went to bed first in the spare room. John B and Pope were still in the living room when Kie showed up.

"Hey, you good?" Pope asked as Kie never came by this late on a school night

"Yeah, is JJ here?"

"Yuppp, spare room" John B answered and Kie quietly opened the door and closed it behind her

She saw her boyfriend passed out in her and she crawled in beside him. He woke up and made sure she was okay and she just answered, "Yeah, I'm fine it's just my bed feels so empty without you in it"

"I'm happy you're here. I sleep so much better next to you" JJ whispered

They knew this was probably a bad habit to start, depending on one another for sleep but they were in love. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives sharing a bed together.
