JJ's POV:

I was twenty-two years old and some girl showed up at my house with a kid she claimed was mine. The little girl was six years old, meaning I was around 17 when we hooked up.

I remembered her but not well. We went in and I got a paternity test just to make sure. It came back positive so she was my daughter. Her mom said she was super stressed and we went into court and she gave me custody and then she took off. She just literally left her daughter.

The next six months were rough. I was learning to be a dad to this amazing little girl who was so confused about where her mom went. Things were slowly getting better and today all my friends were coming home from college to meet Aliah.

They all showed up and I introduced them to her. Aliah seemed to like Kie the best. She went into her room and brought out her hair stuff and asked, "Can you braid my hair? My mommy used to do it and my dad doesn't know how"

"Of course" Kie said as she started doing Aliah's hair

Kie brought Aliah into the bathroom to show her and Aliah loved it. She brought Kie into her room and showed her all her toys and she only was interested in Kie. The others left after dinner and Aliah asked Kie to stay and read her a bedtime story. Kie didn't seem to mind. She stayed until I got Aliah to bed and then we talked a lot about the whole situation for almost two hours.

"JJ, call me if you ever need anything"

"I will" I said

The next day, Kie was working at the Wreck, and we came to get food. Aliah was super excited to see Kie again. Kie was so good with her. Kie spent the next week hanging out with us. Today, I had to work so she took Aliah into town to go shopping for a girl's day.

When she got home, she told me all about how much fun she had with Kie. Kie took her to get a pedicure, she bought her some clothes and even a toy. Aliah couldn't stop talking about her day with Kie. I texted Kie and thanked her and offered to pay her back as I knew she spent a lot of money. She declined and said she had fun.

Kie was leaving to go back to school for her last few weeks of college before graduation. She came to say goodbye and Aliah was crying as she didn't want Kie to leave. Kie looked sad too and she bend down so she closer to her and she said, "I have to go back to school for two months and then I'm going to graduate and move back here. If it's okay with your daddy, I'll have you and him come out and see me for graduation"

I would totally buy them plane tickets. Aliah was still super sad and I took a deep breath. I took off my necklace and put it around Aliah's neck.

"My mom gave this necklace to me when I a little girl. I'll let you wear it when I'm gone in college, okay?"

"Thank you" She said hugging me

Kie went back to California and we facetimed everyday, mainly because Aliah wanted to talk to her. Kie and I think it's just because she doesn't have her mom anymore. She was graduating college in a week and we flew out to see her. We were staying in her room with her. It was late and we were all sharing my bed. Kie laid between me and Aliah.

In between classes and finals, Kie showed us around California and Aliah was her little best friend. As expected, Kie's mom and dad were pissed that she was playing house with me. She got into a huge fight with them. Kie and I stayed up late talking about it and I said, "Honestly, I think she likes you better than she likes me"

Kie told me not to worry as she probably just liked having someone that reminded her of her mom. At Kie's graduation, we took lots of pictures, and then I helped Kie and her parents move her out of the house she was in. Her dad had his truck with a trailer for all the larger items. Kie's car was packed full and Aliah and I were driving home with her.

The drive took a few days and we stopped and stayed at hotels. Her parents were super observant about how Aliah was so clingy to Kie. Honestly, any stranger probably thought Aliah was her daughter.

We were finally back home and Kie was living with her parents while she searched for a job. She would help with Aliah all the time and it was great. Kie got a killer job and thankfully, she was staying in the Outer Banks.

A few months passed by and John B set me up on this date with this girl. Her name was Hannah and she was honestly great. Kie was super encouraging and Hannah and I started dating. Things have been going really well. Hannah knew about Aliah but Aliah didn't know about Hannah yet. I didn't want her to know anything until it was serious.

After six months, I introduced Hannah to my seven year old daughter and Hannah seemed great with her. Aliah on the other hand didn't seem too happy that I had a girlfriend. Hannah and I made sure to spend time with her together as a couple.

We were at the beach surfing together. Kie and I have been teaching Aliah how to surf. Today, Aliah refused to surf and she only wanted to surf if Kie was here. A few days later, Kie was going to watch Aliah for a few days as I was going with Hannah to Pennsylvania to meet her family.

Kie's POV:

I was staying with Aliah for a few days and JJ and Hannah had already left. Aliah was super excited for me to stay with her. I was staying at JJ's house and it was the first night when Aliah came into JJ's room and asked if she could sleep with me. I obviously said yes and she laid down on the other side of the bed and she asked, "Do you think my dad is going to marry Hannah?"

"I'm not sure. Do you think he is?" I asked her

"I don't know but I don't want her to be my new mommy"

"You don't like Hannah?"

"She's okay... But not a good mom. My mom used to be better"

I had no idea what to say. Then Aliah said, "You're a better mom to me than my mom"

My heart just shattered into millions of pieces. I hugged this precious little girl and she whispered, "I want you to be my mommy"

I was quietly crying as I held her in my arms. I said, "We need to tell your dad how you feel"

Aliah and I had a ton of fun over the next few days. I still couldn't believe she wanted me to be her mom. When JJ came home he told us all about the trip. Aliah was mad at him. She went to her room crying and told Hannah she didn't like that she took her dad away.

I looked at JJ and he told Hannah she should go and he'd call her later. JJ went into the room and I listened from outside. Aliah was crying and saying she didn't want Hannah to be her mom. She wanted me to be her mom.

JJ came out and said, "She's pissed at me"

"She's not pissed at you. She's just a kid who has a lot of emotions. J, her mom left her"

JJ looked at me and he was super emotional and said, "I have no idea what to do. I should never even be a dad"

I told JJ he was a great dad and I went in there and talked to Aliah.

Aliah was now ten years old and I have been dating this guy name me Ben and JJ had a new girlfriend of almost a year and a half. Her name is Rachel.

I was hanging out with JJ and we were talking about Aliah and he said, "Hey, I know she's going to start going through puberty and I was wondering if you would mind giving her the the talk? Not the whole talk just about body changes. I would but I'm not a girl and I don't want her to feel uncomfortable"

"Yeah, of course.." I said and we talked about what I should tell her and the next day we had a girls day where we had the talk

We went to the store and got her a training bra. She was pretty excited. I made sure she knew she could always come to me or JJ with questions and to ask us not friends or the internet.

When we got back home, Aliah told her dad we had the best girls day ever. Time was flying by and today was Aliah's 13th birthday and she blew out her candles and made her wish.

"What did you wish for?" JJ asked his daughter

"For Kie to be my mom" She said

She's been wishing the same thing since her seventh birthday. JJ and I spent the day making her feel special and then we sat down and talked.

"Kie, I know there's never been anything between us before and I don't know how this is going to work. But clearly Aliah loves you and if something happens to me, I don't want to leave her alone. I know you never signed up to have a kid with me but will you adopt Aliah and be her other legal guardian, be her mom?"

Tears were falling because I couldn't believe this. We never talked about this before. I looked at JJ and said, "Yes, I would love to be her mom"

JJ hugged me and we started figuring out how to start the whole legal process. The process took about six months and tonight we were finally going to tell her.

She got home from school and we handed her the adoption papers. She screamed in excitement and she cried. She hugged me and we were both crying. When she finally calmed down she looked at me and asked, "Can I finally call you mom?"

JJ looked at me and smiled and I said, "Yes"

"I love you, mommy" She said hugging me again and I was a sobbing mess

JJ joined in the hug too and tonight was super emotional for everyone. Aliah was my legal daughter and I couldn't be happier. She was also my best friend. Over the next six months, JJ and I were basically co-parenting her. She'd stay with me and JJ and switch back and forth and it was late and I was about to leave JJ's house.

"Kie, you can stay here tonight if you want... It's late and it's storming" JJ offered which I appreciated but I felt bad

We ended up watching a movie together talking about about Aliah.

"Thank you" He said out of nowhere

"For what?"

"For loving my daughter as your own daughter. For stepping up and being her mom. She has the best and coolest mom in the world. So thank you because you didn't have do anything of this"

"Thank you for letting me love her as my own... It's crazy we have a kid together and I didn't even have to give birth"

"Yeah, and we didn't even get to do the fun part"

I looked at him confused and he said, "The fun part of making the baby"

I laughed and said, "You we part of the fun part. You put the baby in Amber"

"Kie, I was wasted at a party. It wasn't even that good. Besides, fuck Amber for leaving Aliah. You're her mom now, you have been from day one" JJ said and I looked at him

I knew we were both going to regret this but I kissed him. He kissed me back as he laid back on the couch. We were making out and he lifted my shirt off and I pulled back immediately.

"Sorry, fuck I misread the situation"

"No you didn't, I was just going to say we should move to your bedroom where there is a door and a lock so Aliah doesn't hear or see us"

JJ looked so relieved and he carried me to his bedroom where we had sex. There has been this tension between us for years now. Finally, something happened and it was incredible.

JJ and I tried our best to pretend like nothing happened. Except we must have failed because a few days later, we were all eating dinner together when Aliah said, "You two totally did it"

It caught me and JJ off guard and he said, "No we didn't"

"Yeah, you did. You know how I know? Because you look at mom like you always have, like you're in love with her but now she's getting all nervous around you because she loves you too"

"Hate to break it to you, but nothing happened between me and your dad" I said not about to tell my daughter what actually happened but little did I know, she was going to know when I discovered that I was pregnant six weeks later

I sat in the bathroom with four positive tests on the counter. I couldn't believe this was happening. I told JJ and he was excited. It made me feel so much better about the whole situation.

We talked and we finally admitted that maybe we were meant to be. So long story short, we became a couple and we told Aliah we were dating and that she was going to be a big sister. I've never seen her more excited.

Things have a funny way working out. I ended up getting the best daughter in the world all because of JJ, my soulmate. Now we were having a baby together. We had a little girl and we then went on and tried for one more baby and we got twin boys. It worked out and JJ was seriously the best dad ever and Aliah was the best big sister and she said, "Someday I want a love like yours and dads"
