One night, after a few beers, an idea sparked between JJ and Kiara. They decided to explore the realm of friends with benefits, believing that their bond was strong enough to handle the unconventional arrangement.

For a while, things seemed to be going smoothly. They shared intimate moments without jeopardizing their friendship, well at least that's what they kept convincing themselves. However, one sunny afternoon, they met again.

"Just gimme a sec, I'm almost done." JJ smiled smoking the last bit of the joint they shared earlier.

As they were both laying on the hammock, Kiara was staring deeply at the blond boy, watching every features of his face. She hesitated. Her eyes looked down, and her voice trembled slightly as she shared a vulnerable truth.

"JJ, I shouldn't have come, this...this is a mistake-" Kiara confessed getting out of the hammock, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink.

JJ immediately sat and looked at her confused. "Kie...we don't have to do anything if you don't want to-"

"That's not it Jayj...I can't do this anymore. That all friends with benefits thing."

He looked at her confused and replied, "Kiara, it's okay. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable."

"You don't get it." she almost whispered, she was now looking down, staring at her feet.

"I'm sorry I thought-" JJ, still confused, was cut by the brown girl.

"I can't be your distraction anymore JJ. I...We shouldnt have done that in the first place but I thought it w-" This time, it was JJ who didn't let her finish, sad to know this is what she thinks he considers her.

"Is that what you think it is? What you think you are to me?"

"I mean-"

"I'm in love with you, Kiara."

"What?" Kiara was certainly not expecting this.

"I thought this was what you wanted. And I was fine with it, because you seemed happy. That was enough for me as long as you were happy with it." He did a quick pause. "Making you happy was enough."

JJ was still nervous but surprised by himself for letting his deepest thoughts out.

Kiara smiled and came closer to her best friend. "I don't want you to do things that make me happy if you're sad."

"Well, c'mon Kie. It's sex, it doesn't make me sad." Even in a conversation as serious as this was, he still found a way to make a joke out of it.

"Seriously, JJ. You know what I mean." Kiara rolled her eyes.

"Yeah." Nervous, JJ was now playing with rings.

"So, you're in love with me uh?" Kiara slowly moved even closer to JJ, and she gently laced their hands together.

"Yeah, kinda." JJ stared at their hands and let out a smirk when he realized what she just did.

"Kinda?" Kiara said still smiling and amused.

"No. Completely." He was serious now, no smirk anymore but just his blue eyes looking deeply into hers.

"I love you JJ." She laughed and cup his cheek gently.

"I love you too, Kie." He finally closed the gap between their faces by linking their lips together. They've kissed a hundred times now but this kiss was different. It felt new but familiar at the same time.

JJ suddenly interrupted their moment to look into her eyes. "Hey, Kie" he finally asked after a few seconds.

"Mmh?" she smiled.

"Now that we stopped being just friends. Can we not stop the benefits part, though?"

She rolled her eyes with a smirk. "Shut up and kiss me again."
